My air conditioning unit quit cooling. I called Total. They were able to schedule a tech quickly (the next day). The tech, Paul, called when he was on his way. He showed up ontime (early), diagnosed the problem and fixed it within one hour. He had to replace the compressor. He was very respectful and professional including wearing his shoe protectors inside my home. He explained what the issue was professionally. Thank you.

James Booth was the technician servicing my HVAC. He was very professional and took time to explain my options, as well as, explaining exactly what he was doing and why. He had my HVAC up and going in no time. Thankful I found these guys.

The staff and technicians were all very nice so I need to start by saying that. BUT I feel I was extremely overcharged (about $1000) to simply tie two existing lines together when I was originally quoted $300.

We had an outdoor kitchen that was already pre-plumbed (aka the lines were in the ground and run to the crawl space) and just needed to be tied into the house and faucet. We also needed a simple drain installed for the sink which was also already plumbed except for the actual elbow attachment. I was quoted about $300 total for the work.

They charged labor time while their technician ran to the store... They show up with a work van but still don’t have what they need?

I suggest doing an on-site estimate and showing up prepared. They did ultimately knock one hour of labor off ($90) but this really doesn’t make up for the fact that they were unprepared, required two trips out to the house, and charged for labor to pick up supplies because they were unprepared.

This is an abuse of the trust clients place in the contractors to do the work with their best interests in mind.

I would have gone with another company and/or just done it myself had I known this.

The ac on my 20 yr old HVAC unit stopped working the night before the 2 hottest days of the summer. I soon found out that in this industry it is very difficult (almost impossible) to get someone to come by and give you a free estimate for a repair. Then I was lucky enough to call Total HVAC. They were very kind and had a technician, Josh, at my house within an hour. Josh thoroughly inspected the unit, showed me the problem, and gave me a quote for the repair. It was a VERY reasonable price. He had the part on his truck and fixed the problem right away. In all, I could not be happier with the service provided by Total HVAC and their technician, Josh!

I had James Booth as my technician today. He was very knowledgeable and took time to make sure that my unit was operating as it should. He found an issue with my fan blade and actually let me see visibly what the issue was. He was able to provide options that I could choose from in order to correct the problem. He was very patient and had a great attitude. James is awesome and I look forward to working with him again in the future.

Total HVAC is the best HVAC company around. I have used them for years and wouldn’t trust work to anyone else. They are always knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Every employee I have ever dealt with, whether on the phone or working in my home, has been great. Two people have really stood out for me in this company as exceptional. Jeff Holland fixed our HVAC issues while saving us money at the same time. The technician who came to our house yesterday, James Booth, was so thorough & helpful. That’s the customer service you get with this company.

To be honest, this was a really REALLY good service. The tech that came out, Paul, was super professional. Got everything taken care of in a jiffy and set us straight. WILL call again for any problems in the future! Thanks Paul!!

These guys are the absolute BEST. Our HVAC needed to be replaced, and they were able to come out the same day we called. When the manufacturer sent them the wrong replacement unit twice, Eric personally drove out of state to get the correct unit to get it fixed for us. He even offered to bring in a package for us (with no AC in July, we went to stay with family). So many other great things about our experience with this company, they really went above and beyond and made us feel cared for. Would recommend Eric and Total Group to anyone and everyone!

Eric was the technician for my annual HVAC service appointment, he was thorough, professional, on-time, and super helpful explaining the cause of some smaller issues we were having. I plan to request him for our next appointment and have always had consistent, professional service and reasonable quotes from Total Group.

I had a new unit put in 2 years ago this month and was extremely pleased with the sales guy and the installation and the follow up cleaning. On the 2nd cleaning, though, I had to get Denise to schedule it because no one in residential would call me back. I have tried calling several times now to schedule a winter clean/service and the line either just rings and rings and rings or I get a voice mail to leave a message and no one ever calls me back. I have tried a few times over the last couple of weeks, to no avail. I have referred ya'll several times in the last couple of years - I work as a contract coordinator with a large real estate firm and refer a lot of vendor business in the form of repairs and servicing on listings/sales, so I hope my referrals were handled better than this.

Just a follow-up to include a shout-out to Tech Eric! He stopped by to complete Spring A/C system care. and found our dryer vent was causing a build up in the Condenser coils outside. Eric did an awesome job of cleaning them and surely got us back to the 18 SEER efficiency performance. Good job Eric and Total Group! 5 Stars still! Oh! And I re-dierected our dryer vent to blow away form the A/C unir!

We called for maintenance at 7 o'clock. I guy named Jason called and left a voicemail that sounded like he was at a party. We called him back and he immediately started to tell me how he wouldn't be able to get out here till 11 or 12. It was apparent he didn't want to come out. Once I told him I was okay with the time he then went into how expensive it was going to be for him to come out. I told him that was okay and I wanted to know if my maintenance agreement covered anything. He then demanded evidence of a maintenance agreement. It was clear between my wife and I that he had no interest in coming out to tonight. However, we ended the call with a plan for him to be here at 11 PM. Of course, he never showed up and he never responded to my phone calls. He finally responded to my multiple texts about 35 minutes after 11 claiming he had an emergency and would not be coming out. We saw that coming.

We are set up for service contracts with this company. They did an extremely thorough job looking at all three of our heat and air units. They were extremely detailed in their assessment and we feel like they were fair and honest in their suggestions.

James Booth did an excellent job assessing the 9000sft home my clients are buying with 4 HVAC units. He was extremely knowledgeable and detailed when inspecting the condition of the units. Had my fall service done today. Made appt with Kassandra. She was very polite and works well with your schedule. On appt day she texted to say she needs to make changes to the schedule. She gave me plenty of notice. In today's world it's hard to find good employees like Kassandra who showed true professionalism. Same can be said about the tech, Harka. The total group handle my condo and my house and they are always professional and punctual. They always go above and beyond the maintenance call. Special thanks to Josh my tech today can in covid ready with mask and gloves and complete the work quickly and cleaned up behind himself.

Had been speaking to Gary about replacing our grease trap. I wished he would have said from the beginning he did not intend or wanted to do the job. I would have saved myself a couple of months of calling him, following up, him giving me excuses and the run around for an estimate. I gave up! Glad I did. Found a company who was honest and straight forward.

My experience with Total HVAC was great all around. I called to inquire about updating my HVAC system and spoke with LaKisha J. who set up a meeting with us promptly. During the meeting, Josh W. was very informative and advised us on what would work best for our home. The install was a great experience as well. The guys, Brandon P., Terry H. and one other gentleman were extremely nice and courteous. It didn’t take long for them to get everything installed. So far things have been working pretty good. I had my HVAC replaced and a mini split installed as well. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for the services they offer.

Great service! I called for after hour service. The on call technician called me within 10 minutes and was at the property within the hour. The other pleasant surprise is the after hours fee did not break the bank.

We recently had one of our units break down with some issues. Our technician James Booth was very thorough in diagnosing this issue and providing us with some options to repair our unit. We've never had someone be that thorough in explaining the situation and helping us figure something out. Would definitely recommend their service.

I've been trying to find skilled, knowledgeable technicians to service/repair mini-split units. I have now dealt with Paul and Will at Total Group and was very impressed with both of them.

AVOID!!! Sold a maintainence package. Then refused to come out...no call/no call...several non returned phone calls...just to set an appointment?!? I've given up. HORRIBLE customer service! AVOID!

I called Total Group for assistance with my heat pump that was not properly heating my house while it was in the teens at night. Kassandra was super helpful and kept me up to date on scheduling. He didn't try to push us to get repairs that didn't make sense due to the age of our air conditioner. He even tolerated my little dog who was very interested with what he was doing. Be careful with Total Group. Definitely focuses on maximizing profits and not providing good service. I have had 5 units installed by Total over the last 12 years and fortunately finally called Trane after my last quote from them for warrenty work on one of the units. Total group is not an authorized Trane dealers according to Trane. Trane recommended against using them for repairs. Trane recommended another local authorized dealer who charged about $1000 less for the work.

Highly recommend - the gentleman (Adam) who came out for our heater service call was quick, friendly & cost was reasonable! Will use them for all future hvac needs.

I had natural gas shut-off valve (outside furnace) that had slight leaks. I texted the photo to the Total company before I made the appointment. The technician came on August 30, 2022. I want to give 3 feedbacks: (1) Overpriced: The technician put sealant outside on the top of the shut-off valve. Charged $224, including a diagnostic fee of $89 and a service fee of $135, while the actual work took a few minutes. The technician insisted that was their company’s policy. (2) Poor quality: the shut-off valve never stops leaking. See photos for details. (3) Poor customer service: I contacted their customer service. They could make another appointment but would charge the same diagnostic fee of $89 plus whatever applicable. I don’t want to pay the same problem twice. So, I’m finding a different company now. In the meantime, I’m disputing this transaction with my credit card company now for the reason of not meeting my expectation. This is the first time I ever disputed a credit card transaction after using credit cards for more than 20 years.

Professional, quality service!

First time working with Total Group and I was impressed. I will be working with them in the future and have already referred them to a few folks. Tom, Chris and Al did a great job installing a generator for me. They showed up on-time, communication was great and the quality of work was top notch.

A very unreliable company. Beating around the bush, not keeping their promises. If the installation is done right, you may not notice anything wrong with them, but if for any reason you will need to call them back, it will turn into a nightmare. I would definitely recommend avoiding them.

Eric Doerflel is the reason why I'll choose Total Group again and again. He was courteous, professional, and walked me through what needed to be fixed. Everything was explained clearly and perfectly. I was so impressed that I decided to sign-up for maintenance every 6 months to have my HVAC systems maintained by Total Group for as long as I'm living in Nashville. 10/10. Great service.

Once again Total HVAC is coming to the rescue. It is Christmas Eve 2019 and we woke up to a leaking hot water heater. Thankfully we are home but of course we have family traveling in from out of state arriving today for Christmas. I called Jeff one of their estimating managers who got me in touch with Brandon their service dispatcher. Brandon was great to work with and he ended up getting us a hot water heater before 12 Noon. We should have hot water once again this afternoon and be able to celebrate Christmas with our family over the next few days knowing that everyone will get to enjoy the holidays without having to worry about the basic necessities. Just like the other customers that gave REAL reviews on this company, I agree these fabulous ratings are by there own employees. This company made me sit in the heat to wait on a part that was out of stock for 4 days. After the 4th day I tried calling the company numerous times and was ignored. I found the part myself and had a reputable company install it. My a/c was working within 3 hours of me finding the part. The truth is the company that makes them the most profit didn't have the part. So after sweating it out for DAYS and trusting this Total HVAC, then being ignored I had to fix it myself.....but they made sure to contact me to process payment for my service fee! They could have gotten the part that was available within 15 minutes of my home, but instead they made my family sweat so they could get it from another warehouse to make slightly more profit off of me. Don't call the guys.

I was very pleased to know that my jacuzzi’s faucet leaking issue which was diagnosed previously by another contractor as a major and costly repair was diagnosed and fixed within 15 minutes by a Total Group’s technician.
My experience with Total Group from installing a new AC unit to fixing plumbing issues has been very positive. Total Group was super responsive. Had an emergency on a weekend. Denise was super friendly and they came out and fixed it easily. And their maintenance is great. James Booth has been amazing, courteous and thorough.

Paul diagnosed and later Will and Harka came to repair my AC and did a great job! Unfortunately two days later on a weekend the AC stopped working and I texted Will who was on call and he came and fixed the issue and took care of it and I had cool air again. I have been a customer of Total for a long time and they have been talking care of all the plumbing in my house and they have installed my heat/air unit and replaced all the ducts, repair water heater, electrical +++++ . I am not sure but I think I have been their Clint since 2010 or 11. Loved everyone they have send me. I have had awesome experience with the anyone who has answered my calls.
They have spoiled us with honest good work. I highly recommend them as I have referred my friends to them

I have ac problem, called total group, fixation done quickly but charge sky high, changing capacitor and connector charged $649, the worst thing is only two weeks, AC broken again, called other company, they told me newly installed parts failed, spend another money to fix same problem. Asking refund but no respond.

I had been through three other HVAC companies, spent a several hundred dollars on Technicians that knew nothing about the operation of my Geo-Thermal system before finding TOTAL HVAC. Their WIT (Whatever It Takes) philosophy of getting the job done and insuring the customer is satisfied is unheard of in the middle TN service industry. When I first called TOTAL, Tasha answered the phone and insured that I had the qualified technicians for my service. She has continually followed up, even on the 4th of July, to make sure that my system is functioning as it should and that I am satisfied with my service. She is a stellar employee and they are lucky to have her. Clay is their Lead Technician Manager and knows his stuff. On one occasion, he would not leave until he knew my family was warm in the frigid Winter temperatures. He is always punctual, follows up and explains the repair process in understandable detail. If you want a company that:
1. Puts the Cistomer First
2. Is always on time with shoe covers and presents themselves as professionals.
3. Has qualified Technicians like Clay that know their stuff.
4. Has an excellent office staff like Tasha that ensures you have great service.
5. Is an excellent value: price and service..

Harka did an excellent job fixing an issue that another technician errored on. He was on time both occasions he had to come out. He is an excellent AC technician.

James came out Saturday morning early and got our AC back to running petty quick. It was refreshing to have an experience with a field tech that understands and has the desire to get a unit repaired and back to working rather than just trying to sell me a new unit. James priority was to fix the problem now, not upsell something I would have to wait on. Because of this action I decided to purchase the biannual PM plan they offer (something I never do).

Total HVAC installed our new Trane HVAC system June 2018. We really liked our install team, and although the office was a bit slow to get some things resolved, they were resolved. We now use their maintenance program, and had our first visit today. Our technician James M. Booth, was courteous, knowledgeable, and thorough. I feel he went a bit above the required service, and I really appreciated it, even putting the room back to rights when he finished with the inside unit. I would recommend Total Group for HVAC services. I had Paul come out and take care of my system. He came the same day and was about 5 minutes early. He spent plenty of time checking out the problem and helping me learn what he was doing along the way.

This company is an absolute nightmare to deal with. 2 service calls, both requiring parts. Made us wait a week for them to drive it here on a truck. Told us the same thing on the second service call, and only after complaining profusely did they manage to find and replace the part the same day. 2 weeks later our HVAC isn't keeping up, and the unit itself is only 6 months old. Ridiculous.

I just want to mention the outstanding services of James Booth. I had my semi annual service on my unit. This gentleman takes his time to make sure the units are in good working order. His customer service skills are impeccable and his business model is to work on the equipment as it were his own. I feel he has the customers best interest in mind.

I have just sent an email with more details for everything. Thank you for reaching out, the service month I requested was on February, I was reassured by the tech that inspected the system, who was in a hurry to leave, that everything was working fine. And unfortunately, after 4 months I'm encountering the same issue. For how expensive the one time payment was, the service was beyond disappointing.

Don't trust this company, specially with your HVAC. There is a specific person that works on them. He is not an honest person. Thank God for ARS rescue rooter, my issue is resolved.

Total HVAC is great! James Booth came out to troubleshoot our AC unit in the evening. He was able to replace the dual capacitor and the contractor after finding an ant infestation. He explained everything as he went and made sure we close all windows to allow for calibration before taking another temp reading of the refrigerant, and added additional as needed. Great service!

I had a very bad experience with them personally.
I went through LOWES, and got Total HVAC to come and put in a new split unit, TRANE XR unit with heat pump and air handler. Its a 2 part system.

Long story short, they came to Install it one day, they guys were bragging about how good they were with 12 to 15+ years of experience, the inside part thats above the celing in the Attic was ⓃⓄⓉ installed properly😠 and the very next day the sensors failed and the system was leaking water, due to the failed sensor, the bottom tray was filled with water, almost 8 to 10 gallons of water leaked down the ceiling in the span of 1 day. It damaged my inside ceiling. 😠😠

I had to go back to LOWES, and got them to reach out to the company, they sent 2 different technicians this 2nd time around, and were able to fix the issue and fix the LEAK.

They had to compensate me for the ceiling damage and I had to wait 3 weeks to get a compensation check because the 1st check they sent me ωas sent to COMPLETELY ωrong Address. Not my address that was on file.
I mean (ωrong person, ωrong street #, ωrong street name, ωrong city,
and ωrong zipcode). 😠😠😠😠
Had to contact LOWES and Total HVAC again!!! to get them to send it to the řight address.

I called Total HVAC and spoke with Kisha Jones. She was so great. Kisha answered all my questions and booked an appointment based on my needs. Adam came out and did a winter service on my central unit. During his work he noticed a part that needed to be replaced. Before he left he explained to me the part I needed and how much it would cost. Kisha called me back and scheduled another appointment and once again based on my needs. Adam returned during the time given and replaced the bad part. I was charged the exact amount quoted and it was very reasonable. Thing is this unit after the first year of service had stopped working as well as when it was new. I had two companies come out and the only thing they would ever tell me was it is a heat pump but honestly it had to be more and now I know it was. After Adam finished he turned the unit on to test it out. It finally was blowing out warm air. It was now working as it had when it had been first put in. Adam put the thermostat back to the setting we leave it on which is 67 degrees. The unit now comes on runs for a fraction of the time and cuts off when to temp. This setting makes our whole house comfortable now, before we were freezing and paying high electric bills. I looked at my daily usage of electricity and it has already decreased and we are comfortable. I can't thank Kisha and Adam enough. Total HVAC will be the first and only company I call in the future for my HVAC needs.

Totally impressed! I got a call on Sunday afternoon; the service rep tapped on my door at 7:00AM on Monday; was gone by 7:30AM and my unit is working again. It was a simple fix, although I wouldn't have known it. He could have told me anything, sold me anything. Instead, he was honest and very professional. I work in real estate and get asked on a regular basis for referrals - I will definitely be telling everyone about Total HVAC !

This was the worst experience I’ve ever experienced . Our unit brke down & they sent a young inexperienced guy out that didn’t do the right things to fix the unit . It ran for only 24 hrs after & we paid over 500$ the first visit & we waited 4days w/out AC , our house was almost 90 degrees inside . They sent another guy &he went out & it was froze so he unthawed it & came bk in saying it was gonna cost over 1600$ to fix . We were told to call them bk this morning & was totally ignored . No call bk or anything. So we called another company to come out & it was just a wire that needed to b fixed in it & it only cost 125$. WOW! They tried to totally rob us ! Customers beware! This company is a absolute ripoff !

I have dealt with Total on a few occasions since moving to Nashville 4 years ago and have been very happy with the work they have done. We had some pipes burst this past winter and they were out there the day-of to help me fix it and get my water back on. I highly recommend Total for both HVAC and plumbing.

Once again stellar service from Total Group. Today James was out to do the fall service and pointed out a few concerns and walked me through what needed to be fixed. Love how the technicians clearly explain any issues they encounter and point out things to keep an eye on in the future.

I scheduled a visit with Total Group for a routine check up on an A/C unit at a rental property of mine. Thank god I did because James found some things that could have become a disaster if left untouched. The following day the unit was not working and a simple text to James and Total Group and he was back out there the next day to correct the problem.
I would 100% use Total Group again as long as James is the person coming to do the work!

UPDATE to original review: 1/2021 I had second annual preventative maintenance check. Communication with Total Group is outstanding! Received a text from Kassandra reminding me of my appointment and confirming the time. Eric, the tech, was prompt, professional and very proficient. Total Group continues to provides consistent excellent customer service.

My AC was backed up and not producing properly. I called Total Group knowing that there would be a long wait, the appointment would be scheduled days out and the expenses would be out the roof. I WAS COMPLETELY WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING. Very Professional and Reasonable in Pricing .

Sadly after many years of doing business with Total I am giving up and moving on as their responsiveness (or lack there of) and skilled service has dramatically gone down hill, especially on the plumbing side. The most recent experience involved two missed appointments and no call back after leaving a message. One week later and I have yet to receive a call back for the appointment that was missed and was forced to use another company so that we could have hot water in our house.

We woke up to find our water heater flooding our garage. I found a couple companies that said they'd try to work us in later if they could. I was referred to Total Group by another plumbing company who could not make it. I spoke with Brandon who took the time to ask detailed questions about what was going on and said they could get a new water heater switched out that same day. As a family of 5 with 3 kids, they really helped us out of a bind! Could not have been more grateful!

I purchased upstairs and downstairs ac units from total 3 yrs ago. Purchased extended warranty on parts and labor for 12 yrs,but have had 2 problems now and they tell me they can't do anything til mon. My ac is out completely but they don't care. Worst customer service ever!!!

Not always on the same page.

Very Important - Have estimator write out in detail what will be installed and at what cost. At our first meeting, upon my request, he initially gave me a ballpark est that was $1300 lower than the final written est I received a few days later. I understand it is hard to come up with an accurate guesstimation on the spot. His written est was not detailed enough to see why the cost went up. Communication between estimator and installers was lacking. Not always on the same page and installers almost didnt install a few things I was told my quote covered. I dont think it was on purpose but be diligent as with any company or contractor and KNOW what they promised to fix, install or repair.

Upon my explaining the situation to management they were eager to do the right thing and really did bend over backward to make things go smoothly from that point forward.

Over all am happy with the work and final price. They accomplished the project goals but with a few road bumps along the way.

Would I use them again - yes.

I have hired several different companies for HVAC, and this one is the worse one I have ever had to deal with. I hired them for several different locations, and they did an okay job. For starters their employees called their managers, letting them know they needed help and refused to send more people. With them being alone the job took longer then expected. While being there doing their job, the managers kept calling them asking how long it would take, and the employee would tell them they were alone with no help so quite a while. I will never hire again a company that doesn't care about their employees. Of course the deadline I had with them was not met, but that didn't bother me what did bother me was this company not caring about their employees. I would not recommend them to anyone else, or other businesses.

Jeff came out last Wednesday, and spoke to us about a new 3.5 tone unit. He was able to beat a quote from another company, and had the team out at 0830 the next morning. By 1130 we were all set with a new Trane unit. I. Speaking with the tech, I asked him what it was like working for Total Group. He said he'd been with them for 8 years and it was an awesome company to work for. He said it was a big family, and they really looked after their employees. It goes to show that if you look after your employees, and treat them well, those employees will look after the customers.....great job, I and heartily recommend these folks.

Eric Doerfler is awesome! After I was unsuccessful in getting a tech out after four tries and even a few no shows that were scheduled for annual service, Eric showed up. After getting some frustration from me initially, he was calm and patient and said he’s happy to help make things right. He took apart our system and tuned and cleaned and even found a few concerning items he cleaned up. He explained everything in detail and gave us a great professional experience. Lost heat and required a limited warranty repair with a replacement part. Total worked with the manufacturer after diagnosis to have the part and promptly fixed it same day in just 4 hours from my call to finished. The labor charge to visit, diagnosis, go get the part, and install it was very reasonable and less than I expected. I am 100% satisfied and will prefer Total Group in Nashville (Brentwood area) for all of my Hvac needs. Everyone I talked To with this firm was professional, courteous and responsive.
