Our home had an electrical box from the 60's which was likely the same time as when the service wires from the street were installed. In the middle of a Sunday night I was woken up by a loud bang and all of our lights flickering. I went to the basement to find the wires entering the house scorched, smoking, and buzzing. Since the wires in the wall were still live, we shut the power off to the house. I spent the rest of the night with a flashlight, fire extinguisher, and googling local electricians.Since this was an emergency situation I called several electricians the next morning with the hope someone would get back to me asap. Lauterborn Electric had great reviews and even had examples of our exact issue on their website so my hope was to get through to them.One of the reviews had mentioned to call the mobile # for Lauterborn and to not be discouraged if you went to the voicemail because Larry, the owner, would call you back in a few minutes. Sure enough, this is exactly what happened. I left a voicemail and he called me back within 5 minutes. No other electrician called me back, still hasn't.Larry was very friendly, listened to my issues, and said he would be out that afternoon to look into it. Him and his son Larry showed up, assessed the wires, let me know exactly what I needed and the exact cost it would be and that they could get it done the next day. They also cut the lines to the house so I didn't have a live wire in my wall over night.Sure enough, they showed up when they said they would the next day and finished everything up by that afternoon. Larry and his sons were very courteous, kept the work space clean, and took any residual trash with them.I have some electrical knowledge so I can tell you the work they did was beyond exceptional, they built a wall for the new service box and meter, they installed all of our existing circuits into the new box extremely neatly, they properly grounded everything with the cold water line and a ground rod (which you don't typically have in older row homes), weather proofed and protected the service line from the street all the way down and into the house, and did it all at a great price.I can't say enough good things about these guys. Larry said they do work all over, but we're in Port Richmond so they're local and will be who we call for any electrical work in the future. Thanks again Larry.

Took good care of everything in the house, and did a good job of installing new GFCI outlet for our dishwasher. Would recommend them for any electrical job you have. This electrician thoroughly explained what he thought the problem was and tested his theory. He then replaced the wires that were on the top of the house so that the faulty electricity in the house would stop making the lights flicker. He also fixed the outlet in the computer room which had stopped working. The computer room is essential for working from home and I am so relieved that he was able to find and fix the problems. Yes I do recommend this company and should I need help in the future I will call on them.

tldr: Very good work, fair prices, will use them again!I am still entrenched in a bunch of projects for my new house but I realized journeying through experiences with the cash grab outfits, folks who clearly have no idea what they are doing (of course you don't know it until they've done something irretrievable to your house), etc, I ought to take some time to sing the praises of Kevin and Jimmy. I started out interviewing no less than 6 licensed and insured companies for the job; Citywide's pricing was fair, in line with the industry and I found I had a good feeling about them. I wasn't wrong.I worked primarily with Jimmy and Pat on a total replacement for my knob and tube wiring. I found that Jimmy was nothing short of fastidious in his work and many others in the business have complimented on the quality and attention to detail in the final product. My house was a full blown construction zone when Citywide was here but these guys took care of my house as if it was finished - I really appreciated that since a lot of others have treated everything around them as fixable or disposable, resulting in some very costly future repairs.
