This is a fine example why it is good to get three quotes for a project, and to never trust a company who charges a fee for consultation without first looking at independent reviews such as Yelp. Wish I learned that lesson earlier.By the time Powell Electric arrived at my home, I had already received two separate quotes of $3,450 and $4,850 from two other local companies for a 200A panel upgrade. Neither of them charged me a fee for their quotes.Powell Electric charged me $99 for a quote of $9,980 for the same 200A panel upgrade (which is provided as a boilerplate quote-see photo), plus an additional $4,290 to install two 50A NEMA 14-50 circuits within 25 feet of the panel in the garage. Had their quote been in the same ballpark as the others, I wouldn't have felt bad about the consultation fee, but given it was essentially a 'no-quote' they gave me, this felt like theft.EDIT: I see I got what appears to be the standard canned reply that you can discuss their prices with them if they’re not what you expect. While this would seem reasonable if the quote was in the ballpark of other quotes, it feels like a deflection from the real issue here. My quote was so high that trust goes right out the window.And what’s with the recent rash of 5-star reviews with short, little or no detail comments? Go check out Yelp; it’s a better picture over there.

After receiving a strong recommendation from a friend who used Electric Connection for their Tesla charger install, I sought them out. The team was excellent, professional and kind. The install work was also nicely done. I even noticed the fellas vacuuming the garage floor so as not to leave a mess. Their prices were fair. I am totally satisfied.

They came out on a Saturday about an hour after I called. Professional and helpful...fixed the light switch and plug easily. I would definitely recommend.

All bad. We need the right answers not a guessing act. The man came into my home, charged me a $150 an fixed nothing. My plugs still dont work. Im calling someone else an asking if the can fix my problem up front. Last time i make the mistake.

I was of course shocked when my phone call was answered promptly. I've hung up on businesses after being on hold for over an hour! They came out promptly and Eduardo was knowledgeable, professional, courteous and even made some suggestions on how to make my electrical service perform better. I will of course recommend them to anyone requiring electrical services. Which will be often given that I'm a Realtor and clients often need this type of service. Great job Lightworks!

These guys are a class A operation all the way. I've owned/operated a home automation company in Los Angeles for the past 16 years, and so have worked with a number of different electricians. Last week, my wife and I were faced with a major electrical mess at a property we recently purchased. Since my usual go-to guys weren't available, my wife found Power Up Electric on Angie's List and asked me to call them for a quote. It was the best phone call I've made in a long time. I immediately felt like a VIP customer and was given an appointment the same day for a walk through and consultation. Gabriel, the owner, showed up himself for the consultation. He addressed all of my concerns and I was provided with a competitive not-to-exceed quote at the end of the walk through. More importantly, I felt that he genuinely cared about providing excellent customer service and I knew that he would make sure I was happy with everything before he considered the job to be completed. In my opinion, THIS is what makes an excellent service professional!
When an unforeseen issue came up which was technically part of the project scope but was also extra work which wasn't accounted for, Gabriel and his team took care of it with a smile (and no additional charge). They even made a couple last-minute changes for us without adding change orders. I can't say enough about the professionalism, and good old-fashioned customer-first service that we received from Power Up Electric. They have my top recommendation!

George Correa was absolutely great. I was in a pinch to get someone to come over for an urgent fix and he showed up on-time. He was extremely professional and he was thorough in making sure he fully understood the electrical system and the specific issue. He gave me several options and was great at explaining them. Everything was fixed and I was left better off than I expected.

Through the GM/Chevy QMerit EV Charger installation, Mehdi from Nation Electric reached out swiftly via email and text to arrange a consultation and walkthrough, draft the plan and estimate, and arrange for the city permitting of the installation. They worked very promptly and quickly and it was a large effort because the parking spot was far - but they got it done ASAP and perfectly! Even promptly handled small revisions same day when the city permitter did the inspection and got it approved same day! (The longest wait time was from the city itself, waiting for the permit approval - but Mehdi was very prompt in following up immediately as each step of the city permit was approved).

I requested dual GFCI switches replaced over the phone. Offer was for $99 one-year charge or $79 service fee. Electrician came over and said another $189 diagnostic fee. I told him it should not cost over $300. After 2 hours he could not replace the switch and blamed wiring. The company charged me $600 for putting in standard switch and not GFCI in the kitchen wet area. Not only did they not do the correct work but over charged and said member ship was included. The company charged me on 2 credit card accounts. One over the phone and one at home. They did not give me a written estimate before starting. Everything was on his tablet.
