Mid summer temps were mind numbing hot this summer. My ac had a leak and was no longer working. We called Airco, explained the dire situation we were in and the next week, a salesman showed up to give me an estimate. After looking at my unit, I was informed that they would have to send an install tech out the next day to look at my plenum before I could get a quote because it might be 1000 or more dollars for a plenum. My wife and i very clearly explained that I am hearing impaired and have a very hard time hearing on a cell phone; especially at work. With me working the next day, we gave the gentleman her number and said Airco needed to call her because I would not be able to hear. The next morning, im at work and my cell phone goes off. Airco leaves a message wanting to set up a time for a tech to come out. I instantly text the salesman and explain what had happened. He replies he gave them my wifes number and will call and see whats going on. Two days later, my cell rings again. Airco leaves a message. I contact the salesman again and get the same story. Knowing i am hearing impaired, Airco refused to contact my wife or even text me but continued to call and leave messages. Two weeks go by and needless to say, Airco left my family suffering in 110 degree record breaking. So, moral of the story, if you are hearing impaired or apparently a woman, Airco is not the company you want to deal with. And, for one final laugh, we received quotes from three other HVAC companies, who had no problems contacting me by text or contacting my wife. When it came to the plenum, they all three laughed when I explained how Airco insisted it might cost over a thousand dollars for a plenum and how they refused to quote me until an installer looked at it. I received quotes from those three other companies on the day they arrived and when it came to my plenum, each one stated if they couldnt re-use my plenum, it would be replaced for nothing.
