I would like to sing the praises of J.E. Redington Co., a local plumbing company that has been in business for over 100 years. One week ago, on a Sat., my gas hot water heater of 18 years “died.” I first called a plumber I had used in the past and when his bid came in at over $3,000 for a basic 40-gal gas hot water heater, I called friends in the Commercial Construction business (VSP Construction & AJ Plumbing) for advice. It was then I was referred to J.E. Redington—I first researched this company on-line and the Better Business Bureau and found nothing but glowing reviews. After speaking to Tammie in their front office & their estimator, Rick Jr., I hired them; the installation was done on 2/11/22. J.E. Redington Co should not only get 5 stars, plus many more, but should also get awards for going the extra mile, excellent customer service, patience, kindness, and superior workmanship. No hidden costs, few, if any problems, just a job well-done. The Journeyman, Bill, was terrific and efficient and his apprentice, Brandon, was just the best. From Tammie in the front office, to Rick Jr., to everyone I’ve met at JE Redington, I now know why they call themselves “Your Home Town Plumber. Thank you J.E. They responded quickly, same day, made the repair quickly and communicated the findings and solution clearly.

In and out very quickly, leaving zero mess for us to deal with. Outstanding service in every way! Or so I thought. When they finished the job, they left two huge gaping holes in our ceiling, several feet long and 16 inches wide. They left us a half-sheet of drywall and said that it was up to us to fix the holes they'd cut. They also cracked a huge mirror in the bathroom when they replaced the light switch. They haven't responded to multiple calls about both of these problems. Last week our AC went out on one of the very hot days we were having. Their website says they're open until 7 PM but at 6:00 when we called, their answering machine said that it was after their business hours and we should leave a message. Did that. Got no call back the next day, or the next, or ever. They have no after-hours emergency contact number, so even though we bought into their premium home maintenance plan, there was no way to reach them at all. We called another company (Superior Heating & Cooling) that had someone out here within an hour. He quickly diagnosed and fixed our problem, then cleaned the outside unit as well. Hoffmann had told us in May that it would be 2 months before they could do that cleaning. Hoffmann is now permanently off of our list. Something has changed for the worse in the past few years, and we can get better service elsewhere.
