Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Indianapolis

I changed this review to 1-star. So Mitchell from Benjamin Franklin plumbing comes out twice to fix my hot water heater. On the first visit, without doing any diagnostic, he replaces the two thermostats on my heater (he assumed that was the issue) and I'm charged $200+. The issue persisted, so I call them again about 3 days later and they send Mitchell again. Again, without any diagnostic he tells me my heater is bad and I need it replaced and he proceeds to quote me over $1700 for a new water heater. I told him that I believe the issue is simply that the lower element needed to be replaced. I had to tell him to test the lower element before he finally did and he confirmed that indeed the lower element was the issue all along. Then he says, without trying, that the element was rusted on and he wouldn't be able to get it off. I asked him to try and he gave a half-hearted effort to remove the element before giving up. He pushed again about purchasing a new water heater and I declined.I googled how to replace an element, so today I went to Home Depot and purchased an element for $10. Then I went to Advanced Auto and purchased a 38mm (1 1/2) socket for $23. I replaced the element myself in about 5 minutes. The old one wasn't rusted and came off easy using an impact wrench.

I had estimates for $1800 to put in a tank! Ben's did it for over a thousand cheaper. Mark was awesome, even had to see me break-down for a few minutes. Every polite and understanding ?. More to come.

This company did a great job ?They came out and did an estimate. With me not having any water, they came back the very next day and did the job. Very fast and professional.They made everything all nice and tidy around my well. I will definitely be calling them again if I have plumbing issues.Gave me a great price as well.Very good company.

John came out on time, was very professional and looked for the source of our leak. We will still need a specialist to find the leak in the slab but John was nice enough to not charge us for the visit and recommended the specialist.We would love to have him come back to do the repair once we get the report. Excellent experience all around.John is excellent! He came back to ensure the information from the leak detection specialists made sense based on the layout of our home. He’s very knowledgeable and is very thorough in examining all possible situations. He is familiar with the home builder (our house was built in the 1960s) and was able to give insight on fixing our slab leak so we have a long term solution. He even spoke with the leak detection technician to clarify their report findings. On top of all of that, he’s a very personable guy. He’s made a stressful situation much more bearable with his insight and patience.

Rick came out and did a wonderful job fixing my Bathroom Faucet issue. Benjamin Franklin called me about 25 minutes before his arrival, and Rick was on time and professional. I highly recommend Benjamin Franklin Plumbing.

My water heater went out and needed to be replaced. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing was able to get out same day to provide an estimate and also complete the work. Chris M. was the plumber who did the installation, and he did a great job. Had it knocked out within a couple hours. He was also very friendly and knowledgeable, and was able answer any questions I had. I'm very pleased with the overall experience, and how everyone I interacted with was able to work to get me scheduled and taken care of quickly.

We are having some plumbing/sewer issues and wanted to get three (3) estimates. The online contact process was very easy to navigate and it did not take long at all to hear back from someone. We set up an appointment to get an estimate and talk over what needed to be accomplished. The estimator, Aaron, was on time, very pleasant, cordial and responsive to our questions. He even gave a very helpful free tip to do with a an Oatey plumber's plug that we found useful to know. However, we did choose one of the other companies as we feel they will fulfill our current needs more accurately. We would certainly give Ben Franklin a call again if the need arose for a different issue.

The plumber was a champion. They identified the issue quickly and made the repair. He was kind, and informative also. If the price hadn’t been so extortionate I would have given a 5 Star review. There were a few different leaks within a 4 foot section of wall that took less than 3 hours to fix. The three hours included 35+ minutes of him running to the hardware store to get a shark bite he didn’t have. Factoring in the few feet of pex used, and a few valves and connectors, I’d say $200+ an hour is a pretty high fee.

I had my pipes freeze over Christmas and need a plumber to come out. Brian came and was very informative an professional. He did a great job at explaining everything to me. Talked to me with respect as I’m a younger homeowner. I get sometimes service people treat me like I know nothing. Brian did the opposite and was able to give me helpful information for the future and how to be proactive if this were to happen again! Would definitely use this company again!!!

Dan from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing did an awesome job at prep work removal cleanup and communicating the processes that they were doing while they were here also walking through the steps of paying for the project in its entirety and what it all entailed very informative very professional great job have them back anytime.

I had a pipe from my well burst so I needed someone to look at it ASAP called Benjamin Franklin (I’ve used them in the past they were awesome then) fist thing in the morning, they showed up quickly. They diagnosed the issue and scheduled the well team for repair. I’m a few short hours they had the pipe replaced and insured the well was functioning. The knowledge and expertise of the entire team was refreshing. So glad to have my water back. Highly recommend Benjamin Franklin for any plumbing emergencies/needs you have.Very happy (and life long) customer.

They scheduled service the same day i called, and arrived exactly on time (from an hour drive away). Diagnosed the problem quickly. Was here about 4 hours and worked hard non-stop. Turns out they have to come back again to perform a more elaborate action (water jets) to clear the line and they scheduled that service promptly for tomorrow morning. In discussing the problem with them it turned out the city could have been at fault because they were out boring and digging in our yard by the street to install some fiber optic cable. Our service man said they could (and would) send a camera through the line the next day to see if they could identify the cause and assess the situation. He told us that both of these next-day services and the camera assessment would be included in the original cost for the first day. If we can prove the city was at fault, the city will have to pay the bill (I hope!). They had to remove one of the toilets to do the work today and replaced all the fittings and wax. The serviceman the first day left all the the places clean, wore booties the entire time, was courteous and professional. The next day, the guy with the water jets was on his way and called to confirm the appointment, but told us about the cost for the service would be about $400. I was surprised and told him that the guy the first day said we wouldn't be charged anything more. He called his manager and got back to me immediately saying that the manager would honor what the guy said and not charge us for either of the next day services even though normally they would (the first guy I guess didn't explain things well to us or didn't know. But I appreciated that they gave me the benefit of the doubt and lived up to their word, as told by their serviceman. They cleared the line, and sent the camera down and sure enough confirmed the problem was the fiber optic cable running right through our lateral drain. So the city did have to get the fiber optic installers to come repair the damage and they covered the cost of our plumbing services as well.

He repaired the garbage disposal, by unlocking the bearings (that’s my description???) Quick fix and then looked some issues in two bathrooms and advised what I would need to do. He was pleasant, informative and professional. I will use the business again when needed.

I had called several plumbing company’s to replace my main shut off valve in my 1927 home. Plumbers came and charged the 85 dollar service fee but did not repair the main shut off valve. Many excuses were given as to why they were unable to complete the job. Finally, Mitchell Wistenphal, from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, came to our rescue. He was able to replace the main shut off valve and replaced three bathroom shut off valves for an extraordinary reasonable price. He was patient, courteous and tenacious. If you need any plumbing done, in Indianapolis IN, call Benjamin Plumbing and ask for Mitchell. Incredible human!!

Very good plumbing service. Resolved problem quickly once on site. National call numbering is another story. Did not pick up urgency to resolve sewer backing up into home even after three calls. Noted my email wrong even after advising Sri g when read back to me. Not to sound racist, but call center operator had such a dialect I could hardly understand him.

I appreciated the updates on when the technician was going to arrive and the profile picture that was sent. The technician was very nice and honest. We thought we were going to need a new battery back-up for the new sump pump that was installed but he said we didn’t need that right now. I appreciate that he didn’t try to sell me something I didn’t need.

Michael M. came out to repair our well pump and did fantastic job. We had the roof of our barn blow off and damage our well pump. After being without water for a day, Michael was quick to trouble shoot the problem, repair the issue, do additional diagnostic testing, and recommend further work to get the most out of our system. With a quick and professional response I highly recommend Ben Franklin Plumbing and Michael for any work you might need. 10 out of 10 stars.

When I called in for service at Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, the young lady who answered was very polite and friendly and gave me an appointment for the following day. Juan, who was the one who was assigned to me was very professional, polite and knowledgable. He looked at the toilet and then told me in detail what he would have to do. He then gave me the cost of the service. He performed the service very quickly and afterwards explained what had caused the clog. He also noticed that I had a blue liquid in the tank and he explained how that could damage the workings in the tank and should be removed. He gave me other alternatives to use instead. Before he left, he told me about a program that would eliminate service call fees and 15% off of any service and provide a water heater flushing once a year. I signed up for the program. I was extremely pleased with his service.

I had a dual sump pump combo, and the main pump started making a crazy noise. Rick came out and told me the bearing had gone out, so I got a warranty sent back. Mitchell came after the replacement pump arrived, and had it installed really quickly. After he'd left, I noticed my backup pump wasn't working after the fix. Ben Franklin had Mitchell come back, and he quickly found the issue and corrected. VERY prompt all three times, communication was great, courteous, and got the job done! Safe dry basement.

Roberto was very professional and explained to me what the issues were with my backed up toilet. Unfortunately, Jason will have to come out tomorrow with the camera to see where the problem is. Roberto cleaned up everything after he was finished. Very pleased with his service.

David was super helpful, answered all our questions, and reassured us with a plan. He took his time and made sure we were comfortable with next steps. Great experience! Roberto came for the second step of the process and really walked my husband and I through what to expect and how things were going to go. He answered all our questions and was very thorough. We are super happy we chose Benjamin Franklin plumbing for our home!

Very knowledgeable, David knows his stuff. He thoroughly investigated what the problem was, before he started to do any work. After isolating the problem, it was only minutes before he got my main drain clear. And David was sent because the two other plumbers from that company weren’t able to get things clear, but they also didn’t investigate the problem before they started. I highly recommend asking for David to do your work. Quick response time. I live in a mobile home, and things are set up a little differently.

Juan V was awesome! I called at 10am, they were here by noon and done by 1pm with clearing the drain. I had wasted probably $50 on trying to clear the drain myself and should have called sooner. Was very impressed and will use them again for sure.

Toby was very knowledgeable and work was completed in a short amount of time. Took time to explain issue and suggested things to do to prevent from recurring. Have had excellent service from company every time.

Gus arrived on time, ready to go and with all the parts he needed. Ben Franklin's price was less than half the amount estimated by one of their competitors. Gus did great work! I'm going use BF from now on.

I’ve used Benjamin Franklin for years now. I’m on my second house with them, and I couldn’t be more happy with how knowledgeable Toby is. He’s funny, and does good work. Helped me get everything set up in my new home, from a water line for the fridge, to installing a new water softener.

Don is always so kind and professional. He takes pride in his work. He always helps me to understand what work is being done. I would strongly recommend asking for Don when you call them.

I was having an issue with my water heater Michael called ahead of time to let me know he was on the way. When he arrived he introduced himself got straight to work to figure out the issue. He got my water heater back working while the part is being ordered so at least I gave hot water. He was was was very professional, courteous and friendly. The technician was really knowledgeable. He took his time to walk around the whole house, inspect and show me where my sump pump is located. I was very comfortable with him and asking all my questions and concerns.

Mike the technician was fantastic and very polite. However Franklin Plumbing, $500 for one hour of work for outside hose bibb with an easy basement suspended ceiling access. Plus , I wanted a Bibb that came straight out or 45 degree angle for easy hose attachment, NOT a 90 degree angle (difficult to attach hose timer). I've always been happy with Franklin Plumbing, never again, $500, ludicrous!

Austen called to see if he could come earlier than our appointed time which was great with us. He was professional, friendly, and explained all about water heater life spans and issues. Since we had already drained the tank he was able to install the new water heater quite quickly. Since we haven't yet used the new water heater, I can't comment on the quality. Assuming we have no issues with the new water heater, we will definitely use Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Indianapolis again.

We had a drain problem we couldn't figure out. Roberto got here fast (on a Saturday), diagnosed the problem, and fixed it fast. It was a whole house blockage that could'veruined a weekend and more, but turned out very well. They've done services for us in the past and we've always been happy with them.

Mark was very helpful and answered all of my questions about my new water softener. Very professional.03/28/2023- Rick came out today to check my new softener. I was concerned that I could see water in the brine tank. Rick assured me that this is expected with the regeneration of the tank; I did not know that. I asked Rick about which salt I should buy and he assisted me with that and approximately how often I should buy the bags of salt. Thank-you Rick; you put my mind at ease.

You don’t want to think about plumbing until there’s an emergency…and that’s what I had as the water kept rising slowly to basement floor level. Ben Franklin to the rescue. Water heater started to leak around base, noticed in AM. That afternoon Mark M came by to confirm a new WH was needed and provided options and a quote/estimate. Next morning a crew including Toby H came with the new, larger gas WH and installed it. Reworked gas line to make it fit. Prompt, professional, straightforward crew all around. Will be sending more work their way.

Spoke with this company on two occasions, neither of which were pleasant. I was scolded by someone the first time telling me they wouldn’t give me a professional opinion on plumbing. I would have thought “Benjamin Franklin PLUMBING” had that capability. Then I called to apologize for needing to cancel and got a rude customer service representative. Good job BF Plumbing. Good job.

Was getting quotes they were my 2nd quote but made decision based on 2 things 1.The quote below is what we were provided. Is there a reason there is no identification of company etc. anywhere? This leads me to believe reps are allowed to get what they can and the interested party can’t use it as a competitive quote.That’s ok because price difference between this quote vs first quote for same systems warranty etc identical and this quote was nearly $700 higher.

Rick diagnosed our problem quickly and fixed it in about 30 minutes. He did a great job!

Our Water Meter was stolen from our yard in front of our house that is being rebuilt after a fire, so we had water gushing everywhere in our yard and into the street. Jason M, came out to meet with me to analyze the problem and make an estimate to fix the water pit, bring it up to code and replace the meter. At the scheduled time, Travis and another plumber came to the house and dug a new pit, replaced or fixed the damaged pipes and added dirt to hopefully get the ground smooth around the new pit. Everyone was VERY friendly and professional. I had reason to call their office a number of times due to the odd situation and everyone there (especially Pepper) was great to talk with. I would recommend Benjamin Franklin to anyone! Very Happy! Thank you!!!

We had a gas leak in our mechanical room and Toby was great! He had it fixed quickly and we were able to get the gas to our house turned back on. He waited for the gas company inspector to show up just to make sure everything was okay. We also had a minor issue with our gas line running to our outdoor fire pit and he fixed that quickly too. Highly recommend Toby!

We had a pleasant experience with Sam in the call center booking the appointment. While they forgot to switch the primary contact number it was thankfully not an issue. Gus was the person who did the work and he was professional, informative, and courteous. Would recommend!

Called Benjamin Franklin for Sump pump removal, cleanup and installation of new pump system. Company was responsive, got a sales person to provide us with options and a tech scheduled for the same day to complete the job. Tech was professional, respectful, wore boot covers and did a very clean and thorough job. Company is a bit pricey but service is excellent.

Donny is very pleasant and thorough. He went over possible scenarios; costs, what maybe required to repair, and what he would be able to do then and now. Fortunately, our issue wasn’t too bad. The entire time spent was 30 min. Donny respected our home and was very professional!

The service was excellent. Chris was able to get our water running. He explained the problem and answered all my questions thoroughly.

Kitchen sink was backing up and we couldn't get it cleared. We actually had a clog that went up to the roof vent. Mike was able to snake out the clog and suggested some Plumbing line replacement.

I was very happy with my toilet repair today. It was completed quickly and Brian did a great job.

Our water softener was leaking water through the softener raising our water bill. Your technician quickly diagnosed the problem and recommended needed repairs.

Paul and Mike are very professional men great respectful in our home very diligent about their work and it was not all about the money it was about the quality of service a little bit pricey for my taste but these young men done an excellent job.I really like the follow up from Mike. As a pastor I prayed that God would send somebody that’s very professional and cares about their customers I will be recommending Benjamin Franklin specially Mike. This man really does care about people I believe 11 years with the company 17 years experience he should be training people a very compassionate man ? Any work that need to be done in the future I will ask for Mike personally what a blessing to have him in my home ? I wish there is something I can do for him personally. We had to revisit an issue, and Mike feel like one of the family members. We would not call no one else, but this man excellent professional, a blessing to me and my family.

While cleaning for thanksgiving day, toilet bowl cleaner head went down the drain of two toilets… needless to say, I needed someone quickly to come fix. Called Thanksgiving day, and 7 AM the next morning, they were on their way to fix. Had them flush my water heater while they were here as well. Roberto allowed me to pick his brain while he was working. Highly recommend

Juan and Benjamin were informative and helpful. Unfortunately they were unable to clear the sewer line even with the jet hose.
Now we wait for the camera.

They were prompt, courteous and professional. Respectful of my home and made sure everything was back in place doors locked and power was back on and water supply was coming forth as expected.

Just as others have stated in other reviews, they lie to you about pricing. I asked them about pricing on clearing a clogged sewer drain, a lady named Daisy, told me that the price was 89.99 for the service free and the technician would discuss if anything else comes up while at my house. The technician arrived and tried to charge me almost 400.00 just to clean out my clogged sewer line. I told them no and didn’t even pay the service fee. Told them that they were not honest about pricing when I specifically asked about pricing up front. They’ll have to take me to court before I pay them their 89.99 service fee. Just so others know, they charge the 89.99 service fee, and also 265.00 for every 100 feet of line that needs cleaned. Called another local company and they came, cleared my drain and it only cost 100 bucks.

While I was unsure about the flex scheduling, I got a call first thing the next day. Chris was there within 15 minutes and had me fixed up in an hour. Everything was throughly explained and I was happy to have water again!

Quick service on my failed sump pump. Had it repaired quickly for a great price! highly recommend!

We had 3 bathroom vanities installed along with the related plumbing for those vanities in addition to the replacement of our shower & bathtub trim pieces. We were very pleased with the work done and would certainly highly recommend them.

Had a stopped up bidet toilet. Donny T arrived in time window, worked quickly and very professional, friendly and polite. Wore shoe covers. Have a problem, call them.

The technician arrived on time and was able to quickly diagnose the problem. Impressed with his professionalism and knowledge and expertise. Hopefully, our issue will be resolved within a few days.

Benjamin Franklin called to let me know the technician was on his way. When he arrived, I shared our concern with a faint smell of gas. He installed a new hose from the main line to the unit.

Our hot water heater quit last night. We called this morning and we now have a new hot water heater. The staff was pleasant and professional. Thank you.

It was time to replace our previous water heater. Chris explained the options of repair & replacement along with the costs involved. Decided to go with a new unit. A Good Thing Keeps Getting BetterWe experienced a drain problem in our kitchen sink on a Friday night (ugh), but BF Plumbing came to the rescue. By Saturday morning Juan V was at our house, and promptly took care of the situation.As it turned out, this was not a drain clearing that we could have done ourselves, since we don't own the right equipment. So we're doubly glad we called. Juan was friendly, personable, equipped, and prepared to take care of our service issue.How many plumbing contractors can you call on a Friday evening at closing, and get service the next morning without having to wait through the weekend? 1/18/21 Paul was here almost all day today to reroute our kitchen sink drain and install another outside spigot (yes!). Everything went smoothly. Satisfied so far.James replaced one of our outdoor spigots. No more leaking, and we have no complaints!Edit: four days after replacement, the new piping added from the spigot replacement began leaking. We called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing expecting them to send someone out, but were instead told the nearest appointment was over 36 hours away. We have their Society plan that supposedly tells that a technician is available 24/7 for us. That plan does not appear to have much value, and we are still awaiting a fix on their repair job.New edit: Today (Sunday afternoon), James returned and repaired the leak. He used a different, stronger pipe connection, and the leaking has stopped. Our basement is drying up. We are happy that someone could come before the scheduled appointment time. It was just a little less than 24 hours after we initially called about the leaking.

This company is a bunch of Thieves and liars. I was told at time of repair that there was a one-year guarantee of their work. 6 months later the same problem to the same sink is happening again. I call them and they show me some fine print that says 67 days is all they will guarantee. Total bunch of b******* with this company. Do not ever use this company. They are a bunch of Thieves and liars. $150 repair gets me 6 months worth of a sink not clogging.

Called about a very slow moving bathtub drain. Came out and took 30 seconds to tell me they couldn't do anything because they couldn't get the overflow drain off with their hand, then still charged the $90 service fee for the 30 seconds they spent assessing the situation. The tech was nice and professional enough, but if that's all they're going to do they should just ask those questions over the phone.

I called Benjamin Franklin after receiving an outrageously high quote on a possible water heater replacement (and water softener that we did not need). Gus came and gave us clear, concise answers with no theatrics (ie, our water heater was NOT going to “blow up” as we had been told by our first quote). Gus is very knowledgeable and his honesty saved us $4k that we did not need to put into a replacement at this time. He also took a look at a toilet which was not originally in the service call and fixed that within minutes.I wish we had called Benjamin Franklin first- we certainly will down the road when we do need that replacement!

My coupon said $85 Drain Cleaning Special but there were additional fees (diagnostic & service I think) that added another $100 plus to the final bill. This was not stated clearly in advance although I told the dispatcher and the technicians that I had the coupon

I don't often go through the trouble of leaving reviews, but Mike O. was a true professional and I was compelled to do so. I live in an older home with changes/upgrades being made ad hoc. Mike advised and explained in great detail, and after triaging my problem he removed the toilet auger charge because it was no longer needed, so I only paid for the house call. He surely could have fooled me into pursuing the toilet auger just in case. The house call fee to pay for the peace of mind and plumbing lesson was one hell of a deal!

Our service was scheduled at 4, but the tech, Jeremiah was able to come out early at noon. He was courteous and professional and solved the problem quickly. We really appreciated the time he took with us and his professionalism.

Though my repair was far more that what I wanted, I couldn’t be happier with the gentleman that was sent out to give me an estimate. Unfortunately, I need extensive work and a repair could not be made. Even so, Jeff was kind and gentle with the delivery of the news. He was very thorough with his findings. These are true professionals, from the first call to scheduling of the visit and finally the actual technicians, it was all a great experience.The final price was on the expensive side, however, I expended about 40% of what they charged me on a cheap repair that lasted only a few months, so at the end it would've been better to call them from the beginning and pay for a job done right the first time and save money on the long run.

I needed a new sump pump installed as well as a couple faucets inspected. Chris advised me on the faucets and quoted me a price for each issue and then quickly installed my new sump pump and took away the old one along with a couple other old ones sitting there. He and his partner were quick, easy to deal with, friendly, and informative. I appreciated their work!

Beware of using this company. When you call, ask up front about pricing for services when you explain the issue for the service you may need. I called to make an appointment for a DRAIN CLEAN OUT and asked about pricing and they only explained the service fee of $89 and said that the technician would explain if there are other issues that pop up or what to expect for a worse case scenario, that is all they told me, not pricing for drain services. He came out and the price was outrageous, especially when explained it was a large amount plus the service fee, a total of $354. I turned him away because I got a better value elsewhere for a main drain clean out. He said sorry for the unexpected charge but I would have to still pay the service fee of $89, which I paid. But this is definitely not honest when it comes to knowing what to expect or them surprising you with outrageous unexpected charges for that kind of service. I have never paid that amount for a drain ever and refuse to. I say just be up front and honest so your customers are prepared and know if they're getting a good value or not.

Came out on a Sunday to help us get an outside leaky faucet turned off. Will need to replace the faucet later but at least the leak is stopped.

I called Benjamin Plumbing because of sewage smell and backup in toilet and bath tub. They came out and cabled main line from clean out upstream into house 15-20 feet and to city sewer 60 feet. He came one time several months ago to unclog a bathtub that has been working great ever since and he just install a new garbage disposal. BFP did a great job and cleared up our issue which was a clogged main drain. The service technician was very nice and friendly. However, it was $459 for a job that took 40 mins total at our house. I understand the travel time etc but I will be shopping around next time for sure.

Called about a clogged toilet. Plumber went the extra mile and got the shower drain cleared and water heater maintenance completed.

We had a leak in the bottom of our hot water tank. Unfortunately we had to have the whole tank replaced. Gus explained the reason and gave estimates for replacement. He drained the water from the tank and went to the shop for a new unit. Gus explained how to drain the water and how often it should be done. From the time he first showed up to the house until the new tank was installed was approximately 2 hrs. A job well done.

We had been going through a remodel for an entire week and had to stay away from home due to having no water or heat during the remodel. Everything was done but foundation guys found several leaks while reconnecting the water line. We had no water when we finally were going to be moving back home and called Benjamin hoping and praying they could come out same date without unreasonable rates. Not only did they find a spot for us SAME DAY but they showed up when they said they would and Jeff H. stayed late until the job was done. There were no weekend rates - they charge by the job and not the hour. That helped tremendously. Also Jeff was efficient and answered all our questions. I had a leak in my bathroom. The plumber had an idea of what was wrong almost immediately and we decided how to handle it. He was very helpful in recommending some place to fix the damage and since the people fuzing the damage will have to fix the toilet too he recommended not fixing it but just turning off the water so I wouldn't pay for it to be set twice.

The initial woman I spoke to on the phone was very kind and helpful. She scheduled me right away and explained the process.Richard came out right on time and diagnosed the issue straight away. He was professional in his communication and even wore protective shoe covers in our home. He explained the issue clearly, answered all my questions, and fixed the issue quickly. I’m so glad I went with this company to fix my shower.

Our hot water heater was in need of replacement. I called Franklin Plumbing for one of three estimates. They were about in the middle, as far as price, because of their knowledge and professionalism, we decided to go with them. They came out in the morning to give the estimate and had the water heater installed by the afternoon.

He couldn't do the work needed so he had to send the person that actually does the digging and appraiser out tomorrow. I've went without water for last 5 days gotta wait longer . The worst part is my service dog doing without and having to get water from my daughter and not being able to get a bath and not able to wash my cloths. Then borrow 5 gal to flush toilet no cooking without water not good either, no one realizes how much you depend on water till your water pipe busts.

Brian was early and he let me know everything that was going on and what he had to do (every detail). I am very pleased with his service and will call him again if I ever need to (but hope I don't lol).

John showed up to do annual maintenance and there was a problem with the tankless heater that literally showed up that morning. He hadn't planned on this, but was able to get it figured out and get parts on order to fix the issue.

Called to get quote for installing dishwasher apparently they don't do that. Asked what the charge is for installing kitchen faucet, they don't have clue. Only answer gave me there is $89 diagnostics charge to come out and look at the faucet! Really? Another plumbing company that don't know how much would it cost to install kitchen faucet?! Yes there are plenty companies that can give a quote upfront and then there are the ones that can't and they get one star from me.

It was the first time I used their service and it was fast and efficient. Jeff, arrived on time and and replaced my faucet with the one I had purchased in under 30 minutes. He answered all my questions and left my home the way he found it. I will use this company again in the future.

VERY DISAPPOINTED! Had to call to have tech return to correct mistakes and STILL the tub faucet is loose and unsealed and showerhead wall cap was also not adhered to shower wall. Earlier in the job I mentioned that I would like to re-plumb the house and the tech said that he could give me an estimate after he got back from vacation. I never heard from him which is fine because at this point, I wouldn't let this company connect a garden hose. When I called to speak to a supervisor, (his name was Jim), if memory serves, and his response to me was, and I quote, Sometimes the guys don't know there's a mistake until it's made. I can't believe I paid $1200.00 dollars for this lame justification and poor workmanship.

Had my sump pump go out…i know as with all things it’s cheaper to do yourself… I just don’t have the time and would rather not get cold and wet and break myself. Benjamin Franklin was quick, fair priced, did a better job than I ever could. Replaced some older piping in the sump pit as well. Service tech was friendly, and knowledgeable. As always…A+ from me. They did an excellent job replacing an old worn out toilet that cracked and was leaking. Showed up on time and was very professional. Cleaned up after themselves. They even addressed some other plumbing issues I'm having even though that wasn't what the initial appointment was for.My one and only negative reaction was the price point charged to replace a toilet. Seemed a little bit high. More than what I was expecting. But I was fine paying it because I couldn't do the job myself or even hall the old toilet away. Happy customer. He replaced the pump but ALSO cleaned everything, tidied up the cables, reattached the float for the battery backup and removed the hard water build up.

I didn’t have same day service. But I did get next day. I was given up front pricing and options. John was professional and helpful. I was given a window of time for service and a call about 20 minutes before they arrived. If I’m need again, I will use Benjamin Franklin.

Rick was very determined, in a challenging situation. He kept at it, and tried hard to get parts that he needed. When, that did not work, he got my water heater working for now, until the replacement parts come in. Then, he is coming back to replace them, and do a thorough cleaning. Very happy!

Not helpful. Asked to insert replacement cartridge in faucet. Made minimal attempt to effect repair w/o success. Suggested I replace faucet with the brand they use. They ONLY use Delta. Charged $49 for their failure. Suggested they could fix it for $ 400+ Would not recommend unless you want to pay for replacement with inferior product. Disappointed.

We switched from an electric to a gas stove, and needed a gas line run from our furnace/water heater area to our kitchen(about 40 feet of line.)Benjamin Franklin was not the cheapest quote out of the ~6 we got. They were about midrange. We went with them because their quoting tech Paul walked us through all the things to consider much better than any other company. Chris M, who did the installation, arrived on time. He was mindful that we had pets and let us get them put away before he was leaving doors open. He did everything he could to not punch holes in the ceiling in the living areas while running the line, and was successful in that endeavor, which I really appreciated. He also cleaned up superbly when he was done and tested the stove to make sure everything was up and running. Great service all around!

Used this company today for a clogged drain in the kitchen. Mike O. was the technician sent, and I couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. Mike was prompt, knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. I am, of course, hoping I don’t need a plumber again anytime soon, but if I do, Mike is the one I’ll request.

I called and requested a service call (free) to check out my water heater. Both the person that answered and the plumber who came over were very friendly. The reason I rate this company 3/5 stars is because the plumber did not investigate my problem but instead offered me the pricy replacement ($$$$$$) options. The next day I had a different company come check out the problem and they fixed my issue basically free as I had some sediment built up on my hot water side of my water heater. I will need to replace it soon but I will not use this company as their warranty and “labor” fees were not inclusive. I suggest you get different estimates so that you can save yourself money and get a company that really does offer a warranty with “free” labor.

My hot water heater died last night. I called Ben Franklin at 7:30 pm and was able to get an appointment for the next morning. They were out and diagnosed the problem by 9:30 am and I had a new water heater that afternoon. The installer was very friendly and explained things too me. Overall a great experience.

I had an appointment for a uninstalling a water softener and they gave me a for installing one of their softeners or a softener that I had purchased at a retail store I chose to have them install the software from the retail store they had someone here installing it 3 hours later. He did a great job was very professional And very helpful with any questions that I had and was also informative even if I did not have questions. I will definitely call them again for any work in the future.

My recent interaction with Benjamin Franklin has been pretty disappointing. We needed a new water heater and were told the 50 gallon Bradford White RG250S6N model would be appropriate. After looking at the spec. sheet we liked the model's hot water recovery rate and overall efficiency. The actual plumbers installed a different 50 gallon unit with a much smaller burner unit, the RG250T6N 40k Btu/hr. vs. 50k Btu/hr. we thought we were getting. I reached out to my sales representative Mark Matthews who acknowledged the error was his but he couldn't do anything for us. We had quotes from other plumbers to perform roughly the same scope for much less but we went with Benjamin Franklin because we thought we were getting a better water heater. I didn't expect a new water heater but figured they would at least offer a free service trip or something similar.

He was knowledgeable about my issue and assured me they could do the job and gave me a quote before sending out the project professional who will be coming out later the same day! This is during the Covid19 he was wearing a face mask. I appreciated that very much.Eric came a few hours later to fix my spigot and had to put a hole in my wall and put in an access panel. He did not have a mask or gloves but we kept a fair distance and I was not uncomfortable. Eric was friendly and fast and told me step by step what he was doing. I was even given a choice about where to put the access panel and I appreciated that. The quote I was given was accurate and the mess that was made was cleaned up. I will definitely call Benjamin Franklin again if I have any future issues. As a matter of fact, I would specifically ask for Mark and Eric!

Gus called one hour before my scheduled appointment and said he was coming. I was thrilled! He was fast, efficient, and so very nice. I would highly recommend Benjamin Franklin Plumbing.

A little expensive, so I went with another company for the 2nd part of the dig. Was really hoping they would fix my issue on their dig, but it didn't work out that way. My only complaint was that power jetting was part of what I paid for. It was broken, so that never happened. When I inquired about a refund for that, I was told it was included, so I wasn't charged for it. Being a corporate company, I don't believe that. So, if you use them, get a breakdown of pricing.

Bearings in well pump were bad Mike was very thorough in making sure that was the issue. Unfortunately during the repair issues came up that required me needing to contact a well company and Mike called ahead to the well company to make the process easier. I appreciate all of his hard work today and making this process as painless as possible. Unfortunately for mike he ran into my drunk and angry husband and was yelled at for no reason. He didn't deserve such treatment all Mike was trying to do was explain things to my son who lives on the property and my husband started yelling unprovoked. He nailed it!Dan did a great job replacing all my old iron pipe with Pex, and old cast iron with PVC, and replacing my 15 year old water heater. I had him come back to replace the yoke and valve that was leaking after the city replaced my water meter in my basement. He nailed it!

Very impressed with Mr. John L!! He came right on time and fixed the problem on the spot!! We ended up having to get all of our piping under the kitchen sink replaced and John knew exactly what to do and how to do it. He had my sink back up and working perfectly in less than 30 minutes!! The plumber Reconstructed my toilet by adding a $12 part in the tank, taking 20 minutes and charging me $350. He then charged me $300.00 for fixing an outside faucet and bringing it up to code. Less than a total hour's work for $650.00. Additionally, he had absolutely no knowledge of a tankless water heater that I was considering replacing. Although, over the years, I have recommended this company, at 75 yr old and disabled I have lost trust in this company.

The technician was very efficient at flushing my tankless water heater system. He answered my question about one of the toilets in my house in a way I could understand. I also appreciated that the office called me when the technician was available earlier than expected.

Chris did a great job explaining the issue and all of my options as far as replacing the water heater. He dried up the remaining water from the leak and made everything quick and painless. Our garbage disposal was making an awful grinding metal-on-metal sound and BF was able to schedule us for an appointment within 48 hours. The tech arrived to our house with a mask already on and was able to quickly identify the problem. A small piece of metal from some of our silverware was loose and causing the issue in the disposal but the tech was unable to dislodge the debris, however he did show me exactly what/where the issue was. He indicated we would probably need a new disposal and told me exactly what I needed and where I could get it at a reasonable price. He was very helpful and professional, but wish he would've spent a few more minutes trying to dislodge the debris. After he left I spent 10 minutes or so on the problem and was able to knock it loose and now the problem is solved. 4/5 stars for the professionalism and helpful guidance, but wish he would've spent a little longer trying to dislodge debris.

Mark came to my home and provided a quote for installation of a water softener, in addition to giving me a quote for a plumbing repair in my crawlspace. He was friendly, listened well, and provided me with all of the information needed to move forward with a decision.

Easy to schedule, appt window of 4 hours given. They called to confirm arrival 30 minutes ahead. Plumber was on time, safely masked, extremely competent and quickly rebuilt part of toilet and fixed bathroom sink which wasn’t draining and needed new stopper. Showed me the pricing ahead (not cheap) but 2 year warranty on the work/part. In and out in about an hour or less. Extremely respectful about minimizing time in the house and socially distancing for safety. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Done first visit..n they’re late by up two hours even then..No mistake I called schedule for installation n cost needed done on Monday..at 2pm they said 2/6pm fine but was inform work had to be done Monday 3x prior!shoe Monday at 4pm did estamate n rudely said yes can do it in 4hrs but master plumber,even with tech,n full big van van truck out front.Even with shower kit n drain there allready,He wasn’t working till 8:30 pm .N was only doing estimate. I had plumber Eric C come out to check out my kitchen sink for underneath it was leaking. He showed up on time, have me quote before starting the job, I have him the go ahead, he finished the job within the hour. By the way, I called to get this done on a Saturday morning at 8:30 am ish and plumber got here at 10am ish then left at around 10:50am QUICK turn around time. Eric C was a cool dude.

My daughter arranged the appointment to have the garbage disposal looked at for me. When David arrived I was immediately impressed with him. I had 3 toilets either clogged or running slow. He unclogged one, said I need a new toilet, (the one there was 4 years old), and didn't warrantee it. 5 days later we still have the problem with all of the toilets. I really would have appreciated him addressing the problems of the entire house but instead he just unclogged a toilet. It wasn't even a bad clog, I could have done that. I don't mind paying for a larger project if it solves the problem. No, I don't believe we need a new toilet when we just purchased this one from Home Depot. Now I have to hire another plumber. But the guy who came out was very nice.

After a mishap yesterday with a flooding dishwasher, I did not know whether it was a dishwasher problem or a plumbing one. Mitchell came, listened to my problem, and evaluated the plumbing to the dishwasher along sharing advice on how our next dishwasher could be installed better to avoid flooding. At my request, he also checked the dishwasher’s shut off valve. Although I was prepared to replace it, he said it still in great condition and saved me some money. This is the first time Benjamin Franklin has been late (did not come during the window they said), even though we called at 6:30am to request service. We were fine to wait, but we would have appreciated a phone call. We had to call the office to find out what was going on. As far as the repair, it wasn't Mike's fault that he could not complete the repair . The clog is in the outside line and will require the water jet to remove it. The water jet is not available until the day after tomorrow, so we will need to live with our clogged drains until then. Mike was nice, knowledgeable, and diligent (He tried 3 times to make the snake work to resolve the problem.

Forrest D did a wonderful job installing my water heater and had a great attitude. The price was way below what I could find anywhere else, too. Really happy with the job!

Jim installed a new hot water filter housing and reconfigured our pipes to improve the previous work. He also stabilized the pipes so they no longer move when we have to change the water filter. He added a pressure relief valve. This time the job looks well done.

They called before letting us know of Austin’s arrival. Austin let us know what to expect at the beginning of the appointment and was professional in his explanation of the plumbing problem. He helped us understand the issue was with the original install. He was very professional and courteous. We always get great service from Benjamin Franklin plumbers! Brett came out to check out the leak, make recommendations, and then scheduled an appointment to come back and install a new faucet. He, and BF, communicated on arrival time and stuck to the schedule. Brett was personable, explained the work he was doing, and went over everything before he left. We're happy to no longer have a drippy faucet and under-the-sink leak.

Needing to replace a water heater and a water softener all at once is not pleasant. But our experience working with Benjamin Franklin and Paul the plumber made it easier to do and friendly at least. Prices were reasonable and comparable to other services around Indianapolis and the customer service was very good.

No I would not recommend to my worst enemy! They said I needed a new gas control valve which was total BS and then charged me triple the price on it. I found online for $ 140.00, they charged me $ 650.00. The problem was that the gas meter was not working! They left with the valve not tightened, it was and still is leaking gas, we had to evacuate the house last night. They caused more issues than fixing anything. God only knows how much more it is going to cost to correct their mistakes. I will never use them again. Supposedly the techs go to training several times a year. For what, how to rip off senior citizens?!?! How about teaching your techs to isolate and find the root of the problem before they choose the easiest and most expensive item to replace and still not fix the problem. I cannot stand companies such as this!

We called Benjamin Franklin after discovering a leak in the basement, which kept spreading. They came the same evening despite their busy schedule and we ended up replacing our 10 year old water heater with a new one. Jeff H from BJ was very helpful and guided us through selecting the right water heater for our home. He was very upfront with some cost difference in ordering from website vs from BJ. However , taking time and warranty into considering we went with BJ and are very glad we did.The installation was done the very next morning. Chris and other installers were friendly, helpful, thorough and very professional! They checked all the taps in the house to ensure everything was running smoothly . We discovered a couple of minor issues with our kitchen water tap and they fixed that right away too. Will definitely use them again recommend the company!

My parents needed an upgrade to their sump pump for their finished basement after realizing that they did not have a battery backup.The individual on the booking center was very helpful and provided options for service date an time.There was a big storm and there was no power, they sent a technician the same day that explained the process and the pump got installed in short time during the COVID-19 crisis, I communicated with him over the phone as I could not visit my elderly parents due to the virus and he provided description of the work to be done, and pictures of the before and after, I thanked him for his work, kindness and dedication to work in this times of healthcare emergency.On time, with good communication, service as expected.

They came from almost two hours away, but I would not be able to say any of this about local plumbers.

I'm a contractor and had to use these guys in an emergency, tried to charge 500$ for a 3 inch section of copper repair then put in PEX after specifically telling them it had to be copper, they did come back and fixx it after TAKING my money , will never use them again!

Richard was very professional and friendly. He was able to (hopefully) resolve the issue in a timely manner.I say hopefully because only time will tell. And he was great with my one year old which was a nice bonus.

They did a quick and great job. Finished replacing two shut off/on valves under a bathroom sink and flushed my water heater in less than a hour. I would have given 5 stars, except the price to replace two valves was $352.Update: had to have them come back out to fix both of the values because they were leaking around the threads. David removed the new compression valves and sweated on two new valves. Currently there is no more leak, but we will see what happens in the next couple of days.

Rick efficiently tested and repaired our leak. He also was helpful in answering other plumbing questions we had.

Brian inspected our sump pump system and determined the primary and secondary pumps are in great shape, he drilled a new weep hole and raised the the floater. The source of the problem was the water level in the well was too low. He installed a new maintenance free battery. Brian was professional during his visit. He explained everything in terms that I could understand, and he was right on time.

Our $3813 experience lasted for a very long week when we called BF Plumbing. They replaced our back flush valve in our sewer line but that was not the real problem. After running their root cutter thru a couple of times it still did not fix our problem. BUT they could fix it, but not on day#6. No date was given when they could do it.PLUS they wanted over $1800.00 more.So we called in someone else. He came out the same day we called and fixed it for a lot less than $1800. Thank God for Brent T. and his fast honest Service.

The water company told me I had a leak. Jeff detected no leaks. He got in both of my crawl spaces and got filthy and he did it with a smile. He also told me up front, the cost would be 161. Since he found no leak, he charged me 49 dollars. I will definitely call them again!

Called Benjamin Franklin at 2:45 on a Tuesday. They gave me a 3 hour window from 4-7pm. I was texted at 5:55 with a picture of the plumber and noted he would be there in 30 mins. He was right on time and diagnosed the issue quickly. He offered me an online coupon, told me the price up front, and got to work. He was cleaned up and gone by 6:45. I would definitely call them again. Quick response, good communication, fair/upfront pricing, quality service. Everything one asks for in a service call.

Jeff was great. Showed up in the time window, replaced a faucet in a tough-to-reach spot, replaced the p-trap bc it needed it. Quote was all-in pricing, no hidden fees. He got it done in about an hour or so. No muss, no fuss. Would hire again in an instant.

Chris arrived on time and was very professional. He took care of a grinder pit float problem and moved the pump so it would not reoccur. Problem was quickly taken care of. Will definitely use Benjamin Franklin Plumbing again.

Saturday (5/15), my water heater broke. I called Benjamin Franklin, Brian showed up quickly, and replaced the water heater the same day, he even replaced the water pan under the heater with an aluminum one. My wife said the new heater is faster than the old one. So He's done a good job.

Our plumbers name was Mike. He was professional, respectful, and nice. We had a clog in our sewer line. Not even in the house, but closer to where the waste water drains into the sewer system. WHAT A RELIEF TO HAVE IT FIXED!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Called and scheduled maintenance on water softener in same day. Appreciated the new emails making customers aware of which service person will be coming. Jeff H was very polite, friendly & professional. He gave me a run down on the process of checking softener, walked me through the final inspection and asked if I had any follow up questions.

Quickly responded to our request and when an opportunity opened up earlier due to a cancellation, contacted us immediately and were within minutes. Diagnosis was quick and we're we'r to schedule work on the spot. Our Tech, Tyler, talked through some of the warning signs and even talked me out of a new H2O heater until the new water softener was installed.
