Spoke with Martin and he suggested that I try to fix the problem myself since it's relatively simple fix. Walked me through it over the phone and it was pretty easy, saved me $300!

I waited 3 hours and never got a call back. Very frustrating when you're exhausted, have a very sick kid and need a functioning toilet! Called them three times. Now it's 11:00pm and have to find another plumber.

Very professional. We have used them for several small and one large product. Martin is great!

Kudos to Technicians Joey and Brian. They quickly cleared out the kitchen drain line and strapped the line to improve water flow. Super customer service and went out of their way to be helpful.

We had a clogged toilet and called Kesterson after 5pm. Their answering service was very nice, professional, and helpful, and put our request in as an emergency. Ben was at our door within half an hour. He was friendly, professional, and great at his job. He wore a mask the entire time, gave us some tips on avoiding the problem in the future, and solved our problem very competently. We will definitely use their services again when needed.

Their fix broke after 4 months

Martin, the technician arrived a few minutes early for our 9:00 a.m. appointment, to remove an old gas stove and put a new one in. He replaced a couple of aged parts, and did a very good job. New stove works great. He kept me informed of what he was doing and why. The cost was less than two other quotations for this job. Highly recommend.

Had a leak from sump pump backup. Plumber was at home next morning and fixed the problem quickly.

Kesterson does a decent job on the plumbing itself - Ben’s work is especially good.
However, overall communication is laborious and slow, non-plumbing work (rough landscaping repair, carpentry, callbacks for missed detail) is sloppy, and attention to detail is almost nonexistent.
Use KP&H for just your plumbing work, but pay someone else to do all the repair/replace work to put your house back in order.

EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE! Do yourself a favor and call this plumber when you need one.

Our situation:

A pipe burst in our house, I called three plumbers that were quoting emergency premiums, even though I explained I didn't need someone out ASAP and the water was off, so it wasn't an emergency. I called Kesterson Plumbing and they told me someone would be out in the afternoon or evening, depending on other projects---Dan arrives early ( before noon) and immediately tackles our problem. He attempts the most cost effective, least damaging route to get to the pipe and leaves our house spotless. He explains the whole process to me at the end and goes through everything he did, also mentioning some preventative measures we can take to protect against this happening again. Dan is obviously a master tradesman and a complete professional. The total bill was less than the other plumbers were charging for their emergency fee. Bottom line: Master tradesman and fair prices, something that is hard to find. Thanks Dan and you will continue to have our business Kesterson Plumbing!

My sewer backed up. Kesterson charged a very reasonable flat rate to snake it out, regardless of how long it took. The plumber they sent did a great job, wore a mask and was very professional. It ended up taking about 2 and a half hours. The blockage was 75 to 85 feet out.

I am writing this so people know what kind of company they might get themselves in with. Here are the facts: On 9/27, I arrived first at a 4-way stop sign and proceeded to go. One of Kesterson Plumbing’s driver was driving a company truck coming from the opposite side of the street. He then made a left-hand turn and hit my vehicle. The first thing he said to me when he got out of the truck was “I didn’t see you.” We exchanged insurance and went on our way. Companies have insurance for things like this. It isn't supposed to be a big deal, accidents happen. However, when it came time to file the insurance claim, I was told the driver claimed he arrived at the stop sign first. This is not what happened. Their insurance company denied my claim and I was on the hook for the $3100 in repairs for my car because it was my word against his (Alexandria police does not come out unless someone is hurt). Again, this is the type of dishonest company you might be dealing with if you choose to use them.

I bought by house a little over 1 year ago and have had 2 leaks and a water heater failure. They have come on time, fixed the problem and even saved me money by being honest about my AC unit. They have earned my business and trust.

Kesterson Plumbing is hot garbage. We had them in to try to fix an indoor leak and shower taps. They came twice, charging us hundreds of dollars each visit, and left admitting they weren't able to figure out the problem. Clearly, my fault for giving them a second shot.

To add insult to injury, the fixes--once we had a competent plumber stop by--were easy, and cost us roughly 1/4 of what Kesterson charged... and they other group actually worked!

In short: in a world of many options, these clowns should be near the bottom of your list.

I had a water line leak and Kesterson came out within 15 minutes to meet with me and the water company. Polite, knowledgeable and extremely helpful with water company. Thank you, Steve.

Scott did a great job at fixing our drainage issues in our kitchen sink and tub. Very personable! Would recommend him to anyone.

We had an external drain that wasn't draining well. It was uncertain if the pipe had a partial collapse or if it was clogged.

Scott wasn't able to run the normal snake clearing head through the drain, but was able to run the bare snake through it. He talked me through what he was thinking the issues could be. After that, he told me he wasn't satisfied with the results and would try the process again. After several attempts and setbacks, he got the pipe cleared.

Scott went the extra mile and resolved the issue. A lot of people would have said good enough, beyond happy that Scott did the job properly even though it took extra time and effort.

Would recommend them to anyone for any plumping issues you have.

i've used Kesterson for almost 20 years. Some of their guys are not too sharp others are OK. They are decent and reputable

These guys are awesome. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. In a time of crisis -- a broken sewer line on my property -- they went above and beyond to get it fixed. Thanks Jotis, Roger, Marco and Scott for all that you've done for my family to get this problem fixed once and for all.

I just moved to the area and one of my neighbors recommended I use Kesterson for an issue I was having with my shower. The office staff was wonderful and answered all of my questions beforehand. The technicians were very knowledgeable of my older fixtures and were able to repair the current shower rather than trying to sell me on a new one. Very pleased to have them in the neighborhood!

I had been recommended to use them and gave them a chance when my basement bathroom was clogged. They were able to come two days later, thankfully we have other bathrooms we could use and it was not a real emergency. Two people came and tried to fix the clog. They were unsuccessful and attempted to use another way to unclog the bathroom but were unsuccessful that way too. They said that they would need to go through the wall and would send me a proposal for it. Then I was ghosted by them. The proposal never came through and I contacted them three times over a month period. After over six weeks I got tired and tried Michael & Sons. They came and fixed the clog in 20 minutes. I’m not sure where the disconnect happened within their company but I would not use them again.

The techs were great, - polite efficient and helpful on their initial visit but my problem is with the office. It took 2 weeks to get a fairly simple proposal for some additional work and then multiple calls and email to clarify an item. I never did get an answer or return call and the person answering the phone made me feel like an inconvenience. I ultimately called another company, received an estimate in 48 hours, scheduled the work and satisfied with the results and the better price.

Couldn't get them to do the job

Team walked in on Monday afternoon and cancelled work for the day. Came in on Tuesday, did minimal work, left gas lines loose, didn't seal up holes to the outside, left tools, left the old water heater that they were supposed to take with them and trash everywhere. I had to dispute the final payment in order to get them to come back. By Friday they picked up the old water heater and abandoned tools but still have to finish the detail work. My recommendation - If you give a deposit and have a second payment at the end of the project, freeze the card until they finish the job so they cant pull the money until the work is done.

Kesterson saved Thanksgiving!!! Called this morning with a clogged kitchen sink and they sent a technician within the hour. The technician was honest, efficient, and polite. I will absolutely be using Kesterson from now on!

these guys do good work. not inexpensive, however, have had a number of tasks performed, and they’ve never mined for additional unnecessary work, never suggested additional work that didn’t seem warranted. seems ok to trust their recommended solutions, which to me, based upon my inability to do the work myself, seems valuable.

Kesterson is a great company. They have done reliable work on two homes for me over the years. Easy to work with and schedule, and their guys are professional, courteous, and relatively prompt. Mostly recently, I had a job required them to come out multiple times due to delays in receiving parts (on my end) and they did not charge me for the extra visits. They've also given me solid advice on how to proceed with various issues like whether to repair or get a new unit. They have my highest recommendation.

We had Kesterson Plumbing over to look at our kitchen faucet that had some leaking from one of the handles. The parts from the manufacturer were delivered and Kesterson installed the new cartridges and the leaking from the handle was resolved. Later that day I noticed water spraying and dripping from the back of the gooseneck portion of the faucet. When I look closely, I could see scratches into the chrome of the faucet neck. These were clearly recent as there had not been any dripping from that area previously and there was no calcium or lime build up. I notified Kesterson of the issue and indicated that I think they scratched/punctured the chrome when then were working on the faucet and removing the pieces with the wrench to install the new cartridges. I showed them pictures and video. They eventually sent someone over to look at it. It took many days/weeks to get someone over and to receive a response. They refused to take responsibility for the damage. We must now replace our Waterworks faucet out of pocket.

I have lived in Alexandria for over 25 years and have been a customer of Kesterson's throughout the years. Recently, they installed a hot water heater in my home that was significantly dented. I called them immediately to express concern and six weeks (and over ten phone calls) later, I have yet to hear back from the owner, as requested. I have spoken with the manager several times, and he has handled this situation very poorly. The best thing about Kesterson Plumbing that I can report is the wonderful woman named Blair Armstrong who answers the phone. She is kind and professional and has been the only person at Kesterson Plumbing to be responsive. I hope they know what a great employee they have and are rewarding her for her excellent service.
