Frank arrived on time to investigate the issue (failure of AC/heat pump system to deliver warm air during cool weather) and returned the following day, as scheduled, with the required replacement motor to install it and successfully restart the system. All in all, a very pleasant experience.
We had a similar great experience last October, when Kevin spent considerable time checking out our AC/heat pump system and performed required maintenance work.
We're much happier with Sun Devil Heating & Cooling that we were with our previous provider, who seemed more intent on selling us additional services than on simply making sure the system they installed (about 9 years ago) was operating well.

Had a problem with my unit—not only did Jennifer get me a next day appt, but the tech arrived within the allotted time. I had heat in 30 minutes. Apparently, the tech was kind enough to also bring in the 5 gal jugs of water that had been delivered—without my asking him to do so. What a nice surprise!! Thank you Jennifer and Frank?

We called yesterday morning and I feel bad for not getting the woman’s name who answered the phone- but she was very helpful, was able to find my account quickly, and confirmed she was able to send Kevin out that morning. Our renters had messaged us the heater was not working, and we called Sun Devil right away- they were able to reset the thermostat (luckily nothing major!;) and in less than two hours from the time our renter let us know, it was fixed. It couldn’t have been easier, more professional, or faster service (& very reasonable fee- we did not feel overcharged at all). I am very appreciative and our renter even said “He was great!”. Our a/c unit was buzzing and randomly shutting off. Gerard got back to us same-day of initial outreach, and sent Jesus and his colleague, who were were fantastic, knowledgeable, professional, and super fast. It was more than a Good experience . . . it was Great! During the initial visit, Kevin diagnosed the problem and also figured out a temporary solution until the replacement part could be ordered and installed. Later, the owner called me personally to let me know the part was in and would be installed soon. Jesus and Chris arrived for the replacement and were efficient, friendly and left the work area clean. So thankful for the great customer service and expertise! I highly recommend this company!

2 vents were replaced without switches (and without my knowledge, too). The walls were recently painted and the man pulled the old vent out and it also peeled out the paint. He did not communicate with me about what happened. Dishonesty, over priced and poor quality of work.

Gerardo and the team that came out were amazing! We love the work they did and everyone was so helpful and knowledgeable! I actually received this company name from a friend who wanted to use them but couldn't due to warranty restrictions on his existing unit. The employee's were professional and friendly when we had our New AC installed. They made sure the ducts/vents were good at installment. Maintenance is never an issue and Kevin shows up early or on time. We swapped out the thermostat that came with the New AC system, however could not figure out how to use it. Although the company did not install or sell it. They were still willing to come and help the best they could on figuring out how to connect it. Honesty is what I was looking for. I had 4 companies come out before Sun Devil. Each experience with the “other guys” left me feeling unheard and like my questions or input annoyed them. Gerardo is The Man!!! He came out next day, we walked through every room and talked about the little details. He was straight up with me and honestly out did these “other guys” in all facets. Customer service, knowledge, speedy service, and most of all price. After we agreed on everything I could call or text with any questions and he was right there to let me know what when and where.

Our A/C System had stopped cooling to the desired temperature during another near record week of temps in the 100's +. We requested estimates and Gerardo was the first people to respond. Once we made our decision to move forward, Gerardo and team scheduled and performed the replacement on the next day. The technicians arrived on-time, gave us an estimate on how much time the process would take and hit those goals as promised. They estimated 4 hours from start to finish and were well within that time frame. Cleaned up after themselves thoroughly and our house was cooling better than ever before they left. The price was fair and the workmanship was professional and courteous. I will turn to Sun Devil in the future for all of our Air Conditioning needs in the future.

I am giving this review unsolicited by the owner of this company. I wanted to give this review to let those that are looking for an AC company that is truly honest and open about pricing and services and understand the definition of real customer service. I personally research five different AC companies in the valley before going with this company I was referred to this company by a workmate and I am thankful that they did. If you truly want a company that is locally owned it is honest about the prices and fair with business and offers a warranty that nobody can beat in the valley and on top of that very professional and all ways easy to talk to. There is no salesman or upsell during this process just an honest local business looking to do the right thing every time and it seems like they do. So if you read this and you're looking for a local AC company for installation or repair please give them a try again I get nothing out of this but no more than passing on the good word of good people and a good company. EVERY place in the valley seems to want to charge you high premiums to make the most profit. Sun devil seems to want to be the company every man can afford. Gerardo was very professional upon calling for a quote. He was so kind to make sure we had a technician out early the next day as our AC was non functioning on a 115 degree day. Jesus, the HVAC tech, and the gentleman who came along with him very polite and offered to vacuum after the install. They were done in under 4 hours. My son's AC unit was making some odd noises...He rents the house from us, so I made the call to Sun Devil for a check up. I didn't realize I called after hours so I hung up and never left a message. At 9AM the next morning I received a call back! It was amazing! I scheduled service for Friday morning between 8 and 10. The techs arrived early, already had a ladder up and were on the roof inspecting. The unit that was on the roof was old - it was installed in 1998 and ready to go out. Being that next week it will be 116 degrees, I chose to purchase a new unit to beat the heat. THE SAME DAY they had a crane and delivered a brand new TRANE AC Unit, replaced our old thermostat and replaced our filter grill that allows much better airflow. Impressive! We used them 3 years ago on our own home - AC went out right before vacation in JULY - hottest time of year - we had pets that were staying home and being looked after - Sun Devil came out the next morning to install a new AC unit so no worry about pets. We have referred many friends and will continue to do so.

I strongly recommend Heraldo and technician Kevin. I was told by a different company that my AC system need to be replaced as it was not repairable. I called sun devils for second opinion. Kevin did the inspection and within 15 mins, identified the problem. Its the thermostat that is faulty not the AC system. At the end of the hour, we got our AC back. This happened this week when the temperature in the valley hit 118 degrees. I would reach Heraldo if i ever have issues with my HVAC in the future.

Gerardo and the rest of the company were amazing! I called him over Memorial Day weekend due to my AC going out. Most other companies were closed but Gerardo answered, got me quoted at a fair price and was able to have the unit installed on Tuesday morning so I wasn’t stranded all week without AC. Sun devil Heating And Cooling saved my day LITERALLY!! I can NOT say enough good things about my experience with them yesterday. They did what they said they were going to do when they said they're going to do it. They had communication amongst themselves that was excellent. And their communication with me was consistent and also excellent. Ever deal with the company where no one that worked there seemed to be on the same page??? It IS NOT LIKE THAT HERE AT ALL!! After being without cool air for four days, I had received the run around from my home warranty company as well as the unprofessional vendor that they sent. It was unbelievable how poor the treatment was, how rude the customer service was, how expensive the repair was (which they insisted I pay up front for!) and how the warranty wasn't going to cover a darn thing. I went back and forth with warranty and their horrible HVAC company until I finally gave up, in tears of frustration. That's when I called Sun Devil heating and cooling. Brittany answered the phone and she was just....so incredibly nice to me. Her kindness almost made me cry because I had just finished dealing with the opposite. She was so empathetic to my problem and let me tell her my whole story! She was able to get a tech sent to my home SAME DAY!! BUT, the only way that worked is because of the tech himself. JESUS! WOW! If he wasn't so fast, and so good, he wouldn't have been running ahead of schedule, enough to show up to my home same day AND 4 hours earlier than we originally thought!! He was so kind, so understanding and fixed our problem quickly and correctly. He and Brittany had excellent communication with myself as well as each other. Their price for freon saved us $60 per pound compared to the other company as well!

Gerardo and his crew came to the rescue saved me thousands compared to other companies in an emergency. I was quoted much higher prices by competitors and given wait times weeks out. Our AC went out 10 minutes to Sun Devil closing. They arrived the next day and Jesus apologized when I told him we had a hot nights sleep. The issue seemed to be the breaker which Jesus offered to purchase a new one and install. I agreed and well worth it instead of waiting on an electrician. Jesus offered some great suggestions on keeping the electrical box cooled moving forward and changing out my filters. I wouldn’t want my AC to go out again but if it does we hope to see Jesus again.

Michael is professional and courteous. He asked if it was okay to park where he did. He was not scared by my dogs. My AC unit is on the rook, and he knocked on the door when he completed the check. He went over the results with me. It's a good thing he came out last year, because he was able to spot an intermittent issue. (Last year the AC had an issue cooling down.)

Update : When I originally posted this I thought they did a good job but after further problems after replace both unit and their lack of knowledge or just trying to suck more money out of their customers I’m changing my review. Had an issue with upstairs unit only blowing cold air so I call them back out and the guy tells me that it had to be hot wired for the unit to work ( was nice that they didn’t tell me about this issue when working on the unit ) I ended up calling another company recommended through a family friend who came and looked at it. Come to find out the wires were fine but the entire system was wired incorrectly. After system was wired correctly it works perfectly.

The time and energy they spent with me and insuring the best installation system for our older home was above and beyond. Oh where to start? So there best tech came out for heater maintenance about 4 weeks ago. The unit is in the attic, well he changed my outdoor configuration from AC to heat pump. This caused the heater to blow 24/7, the AC would still turn on, but could only cool the house by a few degrees because the hot air was still blowing. No matter how low i turned the thermostat the house couldn't be cooled below 76 degrees, literally took all day to get it down to that. When its 100 degrees out and you have a newborn this is a nightmare. The guy came back 3 days later to fix it. He was so rude about it, he didn't own his mistake, he didn't apologize. Now I got my gas bill...$168!!!!! I've lived in this home since 2009. My gas bill for this same time period has never been more than $40! I haven't even used my heater yet except for when this guy left it running full blast 24/7. My sensi thermostat tells me what the outdoor configuration is set at, after he left the second time it once again said AC (this is what it displayed before his first visit too) , instead of heat pump. So I know it was the techs error completely. People make mistakes, if they had been nice and took care of this properly I would give 5 stars. However since I'm now out an extra $120 on my gas bill I wish I could give negative stars. I notified them of this on Wednesday and never heard back. Will never use them again.

I will never do business again with them. They were late twice in one day. 2 hours late for morning measurements and 2 hours late for install. The owner never apologized just made excuses. All said and done this is just another shady business. Unfortunately we are stuck with them and their service for the life of our new unit. My father recommended Sun Devil Heating & Cooling when one of my units went down. He has used them on multiple occasions and was very impressed. I called Sun Devil on a Wednesday evening and was surprised and grateful they stopped by after a job that evening. There are bad times for your AC to die, and there are horrible times. July is definitely a horrible time, and ours died on a Sunday night in July. First we spent Monday trying to deal with the Home Warranty company, what a joke that was. We had a contractor lined up for Wednesday, then found out they didn't have a ladder tall enough. Home Warranty company then wanted us to wait until Friday to have someone else check it out, as if we should feel privileged with a timeline of 5 days without AC in July, in Phoenix. Not a chance. Monday night we had a local professional come over to tell us the unit needed to be replaced.

On Tuesday we made a few calls and Sun Devil was the first to respond. They came out quickly to put a proposal together, and theirs had the best value for us, especially with a financing option. That alone put our minds more at ease, even while we were uncomfortable in the summer heat. We were able to move quickly with application, with financing approval, and scheduling (all over the phone) installation for first thing Wednesday morning with a crane.

Installation was seamless. Everyone was on time and the project went smoothly. Such a relief to have someone act like they care about you. Would recommend Sun Devil to others for their fast, efficient service.

This HVAC company is the best business I have ever done business with! I was totally reassured by Joseph who was the person I talked to at Sun Devil Heating and Cooling. I had an under and over elbow duct and they took all that out, replaced the duct work and put in a new York heat pump. They give you an awesome warranty, and they do the job right! I’ve had nothing but problems with my A/C unit since they installed it. Especially when it rains. They failed to properly seal the flashing and every time it rains water leaks through the flashing, through my ceiling. Absolutely do not recommend.

My initial review would have been much higher. The work was done quickly and the units work great BUT, there was damage done on the installation. The owner and his inspector reviewed it after we called to report it. We were told they would order the replacement panels to repair the damage caused by their installation. It is almost a year later now, despite follow up phone calls and email, no response and no replacement panels. It's a real shame.

We had Sun Devil Heating come out yesterday to give our AC unit a tune up (It was functioning fine) due to recent Haboob. When the technician came out (He was two hours late) he stated we needed a new capacitor for which he quoted us $305.00. I told him I would like to call around to try to get the best price (for which I found the part is $8.00). He stated he recommended doing it right now and was annoyed we wanted to call around. After he finally left our AC unit no longer functioned (it wouldn't even turn on) When we called Sun Devil Heating and cooling they stated it wasn't their fault as the tech stated we needed a new part. (Once again it was functioning perfectly fine before they arrived) After we asked if they could please send someone back out to please fix the problem they clearly created, and they said they would for $250.00. We stated we should not be responsible for paying them anything as they clearly broke (disabled) our unit. They refused and then both the main number as well as the technician hung up on us repeatedly. At this point we want nothing to do with this shady company so we are having another reputable company come out today to fix the problems Sun Devil created. We were forced to get a hotel last night as our house reached temps of over 102 degrees. I have NEVER had such bad customer service or been screwed over by a crooked company like this before

Last week our a/c died in Mesa AZ. We called 5 companies in the valley for estimates. Gerardo, owner of Sun Devil Heating, came out and gave us a quote. We chose to go with them because of the price, quality of the unit and added perks such as a 2 yr service contract.
Joe, Nathan and Juan were the installers and technicians and they were very professional and efficient. They worked all day because it was not an easy job installing the large unit in the attic, which had to be dismantled and then refitted once it was carried into the attic. Juan then connected the digital thermostat to our Wi-Fi.
We would highly recommend this company.

The best choice I ever made was to use Sun Devil Heating and Cooling to replace my A/C system, although I didn’t know it at the time. My schedule is incredibly busy due to my travel for work. I went into crisis mode when I came home late at night to my family with no A/C in 125 degree weather. I had no idea who to call or who had the best reputation for service. I am sure that there are several highly reputable heating and cooling companies in the valley, but most will certainly let you know how great they are with their pricing. I had to replace (2) 2.5 ton units and remove an evap, so I reached out to five different companies...and received five widely varied prices.

From the start, Sun Devil's Superintendent (Joe V.) was outstanding - he started out understanding that my house is not in the heart of PV and I most likely don't want a 90SEER, gold-plated unit that will make me breakfast every morning. He started out with a more than reasonable price and barely moved once he got onsite and had a fuller picture of the job. It certainly didn't hurt that he was less than any another valley company for the exact same units and service without ever having to negotiate.

Two days later, I have two new Trane units, my house is freezing cold (I should probably adjust the thermostats) and everything runs perfectly. He was even totally cool with the fact that some yahoo wired my panel wrong and he almost got electrocuted - that's no joke, seriously, make sure your electrician knows how to label wires. Sorry again, Joe!

I have read other reviews about having issues after the fact or having installation problems - I can't really speak to any of those concerns, perhaps there were other forces at play. What I can say is that I am extremely pleased with every aspect of my interaction with Sun Devil and Joe V. and will absolutely promote them any chance that I get.

This is the first time we have used Sun Devil Heating and cooling. We first called for service on a 1994 Trane unit, it had a leak, the technician found the leak, tried to add Freon but it kept leaking out,. He gave us the cost to fix and cost for new unit. Tech did a great job. We checked around, and found the price to be very competitive. We agreed to a new unit, the install was scheduled, rescheduled when no one showed up (we were not called), the crew showed up two plus hours late to install. My only concern on install was that the tech did a terrible job insulating the outside line, and left a mess at the site. The inside air handler has about 2 inches of tape connecting the air handler and ductwork, I was told the shop does their own fabrication for installs, I guess that's what I expected. The crew did not bring the new thermostat promised, so that came the next day several hours after scheduled (no call). I was just leaving when the tech drove up. I have been using Sun Devil Heating and Cooling for years. I was surprised to see the reviews on here. My family has used them for service and when we finally replaced both the Air Conditioning systems. Their prices are very reasonable. I have used some of the other Air Conditioner companies in Phoenix and Scottsdale, and found them to be quite expensive. Every time I call, I speak to the friendliest scheduler. They always prioritize my calls based on need. They always do their best to schedule around my schedule. I will always recommend them for their prices and their continued professionalism. I know if you take a chance on them, you won't regret it!

Great company, very professional. we had 2- 5 ton units installed in May. The drain line and pan malfunctioned on one and we had water damage to our ceiling. I called them on Sunday evening, they arrived at 7am the next morning. They replaced the pan, repaired the line and repaired the drywall by noon. Its like it never happened! Not to mention, the original job was thousands less than the competition! They were easy to work with and good to their word, I will never use another company.

The tech assured me that it may not need to be but if a tech was needed to rebalance the system. That they would send someone out to get it taken care of. Honest and Thorough!

I recently had a different company inspect my three HVAC units for summer preparations. The inspecting company gave me a long list of things that needed to be repaired along with a very large estimate for the cost. Some of the work needing to be done was to replace one unit’s warrantied coil, duct leak repairs, new disconnect switch, new unit in our casita with a heat pump, and create a return in our kitchen to alleviate the strain on one of our units. Due to the number of repairs and the cost of the entire job, I sought a second opinion through Home Advisor.

Gerardo from Sun Devil Heating and Cooling, Inc. quickly phoned me and agreed to come by the next morning. After reviewing the list of maintenance items, as well as inspecting that all were required, Gerardo assured us that he could complete the job in a day and presented us with a cost that seemed more inline with what we felt the job should cost, including the unit replacement for our casita.

The crew that came to do the work were courteous, pleasant, upbeat, and such a pleasure to work with. Alex, Roy, Alfonso, and Jeff took care of my home while they were here, even doing a thorough clean up before leaving. When they put in the new return in the kitchen, they were sure to mask all the other areas in plastic to avoid a dusty mess in our kitchen. I truly appreciated their attention to details like this. They were efficient and I felt like they truly partnered with me to make sure the air in my home would be perfect. There was an issue with the new casita unit because the original builder made a shortcut in the installation of the original unit. The metal box in the ceiling for the heat pump was not a standard size and therefore a new metal box would need to be fabricated to properly fit the new unit. Because Gerardo believes in doing things thoroughly and correctly, he had his crew come back the next day. They spent the time needed to install the heat pump and the outside condenser unit. They also were kind enough to give me a brand new door to the ceiling as the old one was approximately 20 years old with broken clips. While Gerardo was not here the entire time his crew was, he managed to stop by and call to make sure we were very happy and also to see if his crew needed anything. Such a caring person Gerardo is!

I always try and find people that I truly like to help me make sure my home is healthy and running well. Gerardo and his crew fit all the qualities I look for in hiring someone. I called Sun Devil because our house never got below 81 degrees on hot days, and was often warmer than that. Gerardo came out the same day, discovered that our air conditioner was too small for the space and the air handler was smaller still. He gave us a great deal on a new a/c and handler, and within 24 hours his crew were there to install it. Alex and Roy were so polite and they did an amazing job installing and cleaning up. Before they even left, the house was cooler than it's ever been and I felt air moving in places where the old unit never reached. It was exactly as Gerardo said it would be, and I'm so thankful I found them!

I had a 4 ton unit installed on the main portion of my home in 2013 that still runs great and I just had a new 2 1/2 ton rooftop package unit installed on the addition portion of my home. I was lucky enough to get Alex, the same tech that did the first unit again today, 5 years later. He and his partner again, did a great job! SunDevil is a great company to work with and they have fair pricing for the work done. A/C pricing these days are all over the place and it's hard to get a realistic price. Everyone wants to sell some kind of maintenance deal with the unit and or stick it where the sun don't shine price wise... SunDevil was exactly half the price of one of the 5 estimates I got. I am glad to see there are still some honest and fair A/C companies out there and SunDevil Heating and Cooling is one of them... Thanks guys!

I want to write a bunch of horrible things about sun devil, how race played a huge part in letting me go, a father of 4, or how a huge commercial job was left in the hands of a 21 year old kid, simply because he was the brother of the owner, or how the site superintendent rarely and I mean rarely showed his face before 9 am and never stepped a foot out into the heat, I had better attendance then a few of the employees, but because I don't speak Spanish, or I wasn't related to the owner I was let go, for missing a day due to the Gilbert municipal courts intolerance for being late to court, even if I was at work, and for being 20 minutes late due to car issues. I saw the work being done by the company, and I'll just say this, when the superintendent shows no enthusiasm for the job, and had worse attendence than anybody, and the forman was a kid brother to the owner with 2 years experience, you can imagine the work habits and maturity shown onsite. I am bitter about losing my job, especially when others should have been let go far before me. I feel absolutely stabbed in the back for a company I honestly broke my back for. Shame on sun devil heating and cooling.
