My wife and I purchased our Home, a Midcentury Modern built in 1955 by Ralph Haver in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix. The Home had original ungrounded wiring with exposed wire splicing. There were also two rooms that were added by a previous owner without permits.

Ultimately, we wanted to fully restore our Home to its original character, while at the same time, installing all of the safety, amenities and conveniences found in homes of new construction today.

We interviewed a handful of contactors for this task, Steve Shinn from Homework Remodels being one of them. Steve immediately stood out from the group. We found him easy to talk to, prompt and extremely knowledgeable with the historic characteristics of our Haver Home.

With Steve’s help, we nearly rebuilt most of the major components of our Home. When it was said and done, we upgraded the entire wiring and electric panel, installed new HVAC main unit and ducting lines, replaced all of the plumbing lines (both supply and drain lines including the sewer), installed LED recessed lighting throughout the Home, constructed a stem wall, a trench drain and added mini split HVAC units which the City required for issuing permits for the two unpermitted rooms, installed a 16” slider to the backyard, utilized steel beams to remove loan bearing walls in order to open up the kitchen and the living rooms, installed a tankless water heater system, applied sprayed insulation in the small attic, and performed various other upgrades.

We are very happy with Steve’s work. We found Steve’s work to be of high quality and found Steve’s expertise and creativity in helping rebuild our Haver Home to be invaluable.

We plan on hiring Steve in the near future to complete Phase 2 of our Home, which will include all of the finishes.

I had a great experience with Lyons Roofing. The office staff and Ananda were always responsive and helpful. The crew were polite and professional and the super on the job, Eddie, was very helpful and even did a few little extras for me.

The roof looks great and the warranty is excellent. I know there are other possibly less expensive roofers, but I wanted to go with a long established company with a good work ethic. In addition, they connected me with a great licensed contractor for a new porch, for which I'm eternally grateful.

I was looking for a handyman in Phoenix and these guys were the first I called. I’m from California but I own a few properties in Phoenix AZ and needed a handyman to do regular maintenance and repairs on my properties. First visit Jake showed up and gave me the breakdown over the phone with the repairs I needed and told me it will take him about a week to get everything done. HE WAS DONE IN TWO DAYS did all the stucco patches, drywall repairs and paint interior and exterior.
