Harmon Solar Solar Panel
My experience with Harmon was that of delays, miscommunications, mistakes, and frustrations. I signed a lease in October 2015. This is my fault, but I think I let him talk me into a larger solar system than we need. Our solar payment plus our APS bill is going to be more than my old electric bill. After a while it was time for the roof inspection. After the inspection, right around Christmas time, I get emailed a $450 bill for roof repairs. Roof repairs are mentioned in the contract, but it is clearly stated on Harmon's website free installation. Do a google search for harmon solar quote and click the first AD link. I called and complained, and they agreed to pay 1/2 of the bill. No exactly free as advertised, but $225 is better than $450. Next it was time for the install. The project manager told us it would take 2 days and we only need to be home on the morning of the first day, so I took the first day off from work. The installer asked us if we wanted the inverter placed in the garage, or outside the house. I told him the garage was pretty tight, so he recommended to put it outside. They also asked if I had any of the house paint so they could paint the conduit and to leave it outside. When the first day was done, the installed let me know they were finished and told me to be home to let them in the attic on the second day.... Wait, what?!?! I was working that day so I told him I could come from from lunch to let them in. When I got home at lunch at 11, the crew had done everything they could on the outside, and were just standing around waiting for me to come home. If the project Manager had told me I need to be home the second day, I would have taken that day off too. I let them in, they finish, I go back to work. When I come home the installation is done, but the conduit was not painted and they didn't cut the excess brackets that the panels sit in, so it looked messy. I emailed and was told the conduit would be painted later and that they should have cut the uneven excess brackets and would send someone to do that. Next, a week or so later, I get a call from the project Manager saying that the building permit called for the inverter to installed inside the garage, and it was installed outside and he was not informed, so they would have to resubmit the building permit before final inspection. Nice, a delay. That gets done, so now we are waiting for the city to inspect the system. I believe it's February at this point. Some time passes and I happen to walk by the solar equipment and notice an approved sticker on it. The system had been approved by the city, and I had no idea. I emailed the project Manager and he confirmed that it had passed and now we need to wait for APS' approval. We wait and wait, I figure it's time to call APS and find out what going on. It turns out they are missing a form from harmon that should have been turned in early in the process. It took several calls, emails, and weeks to get APS the form they were missing. This was all work that I never should have had to do. Next we wait and wait so I call APS again. They said that they rejected the proof harmon sent that the system was approved by the city, it was missing info. Huh?! harmon should had this process nailed by now. The project Manager had no idea this had happened. I uploaded proof and APS and I'm sure the project Manager uploaded proof to...More delays. While waiting I ended up painting the conduit but didn't have a tall enough ladder to reach the second story. I emailed and asked if they could paint that part. Guess what, they did a crappy job. I'm running out of characters so long story short, APS finally approves the system on a Friday around noon. I called to get the system turned on, all techs are off. Turned system on myself. Last was the monitoring install, which was done 1 week later than promised. Bonus: Our hawaiian miles rebate paperwork was screwed up by harmon. I had to fix it myself. They also damaged my roof pigeon wire. Was told my new APS bill would be around $15, its actually $30.
