They arrived at the time they said and finished early, making sure to clean up on their way. 12-24-22 ; Once again we had the need for Tioga Plumbing & Electric @ our home in Grapevine, TX. This time it was a busted pipe close to the water treatment system, and another that was frozen solid. We had winterized everywhere else, not thinking about the pipes just inside the garage next to the water treatment system. We called our two favorite plumbers, and Tioga called back first. Lots of broken pipes in the DFW area, so we were pleasantly surprised when they called back much sooner than later, and were on the job in a short period of time yesterday. Drew and Tyler were warm and pleasant, even in the single digit chill factors we were all dealing with. Our expectations were for them to be able to come much later than sooner, and the cost to be at least double what it was. One of our best friends called us a couple of weeks ago regarding a plumbing leak at his in-laws home. They are elderly, and typically call him or his wife (their daughter), for needs that don't seem right. What Scott shared with me, is that they had a leak in their middle bathroom, under the sink in the vanity. He stated that the plumber said he wanted $900 in labor to fix this. The plumber also wanted the homeowner to go to the parts house with him to pay for the needed parts. When Scott arrived, he also found that the plumber wanted them to sign a $1,200/year maintenance program for 10 years!! $12,000 to come by once a year and check the plumbing!! Wow! I gave Scott Tioga's phone number, and Billy showed up that afternoon, and fixed the problem turn-key for $437.00! They didn't require them to sign a maintenance program either. Last week, they called because their water heater was out, and could not find the receipt from Tioga. I was happy to give them their phone number, and will always be proud to give anyone Tioga's phone number for any residential or commercial plumbing, electric or glass needs! I purchased an entire new unit from Metro Energy in May 2019. Within 2 years the capacitor went bad. I paid for it not realizing it was a part that was under warranty. In Feb 2022 the heat went out. They came and said my unit was dirty and tried to sell me filters and a 3k cleaning system. Two days later the heat went out again. They came back out and repaired it. They performed maintenance on the unit late March 2022, still trying to sell me their filters and cleaning system. Fast forward to this month and the heat goes out again. This time the motor is blown. Their only reasoning each time they have to come out is that my filter is dirty and cause the unit to clog. I change my filters like clockwork every 30 days using the reminder on the thermostat. I googled dirty filters and my filter that has been in the unit for 20 days looks nothing like the filthy filters pictured. Even though the motor was under warranty, I got hit with a labor charge of over $400 for less than an hours work. When I called to speak to someone about the price of labor, I was told I would get a call back from a manager but that has not happened. From the reviews that I have read other customers have purchased new systems around the same time that I did and their units are breaking down every few months as well. It looks as if the product is subpar or we were not given new units that we were told we were getting. I used Metro Energy for over 15 years but now that I know I can use the manufacturer's authorized dealers, I will be finding a new HVAC company to service my unit because there is no reason for a brand new unit 3 years old to be having problems every 6 months and they are constantly blaming it on the filters while trying to sell their additional products. Something needs to be done regarding these bad units. #classaction
