Called the company to come investigate a shaking of pipes in our walls. After being in the house for about 30 minutes and said that a valve needed to be replaced in our toilet, that the toilet was very particular as the part would be, and that it would be cheaper if we replaced the toilet. He then indicated that it wouldn't completely solve the problem, that there were probably some pipes not strapped in the walls or crawl space, and that he wasn't going on a wild goose chase to find out where they are. I told him it sounded like I needed to investigate the pipes when the noise happened again to narrow down where it was, and get the toilet replaced if we decided to do so. For this 30 minutes of time he told me it would be $150 for his time, which I found steep, but agreed to pay if he sent me the invoice (I was out of town at the time.)
THEN the real problems began. My wife had just arrived home from the hospital, and he began waving the invoice and nearly breaking off a windshield wiper to jam the invoice on our car, even though I gave no indication we wouldn't pay it. As a father and husband, it was terrifying to hear my wife call me and explain that we had a psycho at our house demanding $150, with our 2 daughters under 2 years old in the house. They had been sleeping, but were now awake screaming at the top of their lungs, and our caregiver was trying to calm them down, because he was walking around the house and in the front yard demanding $150 payment now for wasting his time, when again, I gave no indication we weren't going to pay it. I am worried that he has a mental condition and knows where we live, so I filed a police report.

Came quickly, easy to communicate with, fair price, friendly. John fixed my garbage disposal for me. If I have another plumbing problem I will call him again.

A few weeks back, I opened up the doors under our sink and saw a leak. I am terribly afraid of water leaks in the house as they can create a ton of damage. I was leaving for a business trip and called John D from the airport and texted him pictures of the issues. He was literally able to come over that afternoon and solved the problem in less than an hour and replaced the valves that went bad.

Fast forward one month - I go outside and see a leak by my hot water heater. Guess what, not going to mess with that. Called John at 8am on a Friday and sent pictures and he was at my house by 11:00 and completely installed a new water heater by 12:30. Amazing and awesome. Since John is just one person, I am sure he will not always be that quick as he may be somewhere else that day, but please give him a chance. He saved my hide and I am hoping I don't have to call him again soon :)

Today John replaced several toilet valves for us. He ins honest, priced fair, and does great work. John was excellent to work with. At our previous house, we had a break in a joint of a water pipe. He did an excellent job repairing it. He is friendly and professional. We will use him again for all our future plumbing needs.

We had a water leak in the bathroom, but not sure where it was coming from, the bathtub or toilet. It wasn't that much, so we put the towels on the floor last night and planned on calling our plumber today. The towels were soaked wet this morning!!! I panicked and called our plumber to find out that he had retired! I got more panicked and went online and looked for a local plumber with high ratings. I found John D Plumbing and called immediately. He said he could come within 15 min! And yes he did!!! He found out where the water was leaking and fixed it. All was done within 1 hr from the time I called him. Thank you very much, John!!!

John squeezed me in on short notice and replaced our hot water heater. He was quick and efficient, and knowledge. He offered some tips about extending the life of my hot water heater in exchange for some ribbing about how we like to put computers in everything now (the temperature control is a small computer in our new model). Very personable and a good guy. I would call him again for future work.

John is the man!! Water supply CPVC pipe on upstairs bathroom burst in the night. I shut off water to the house and waited till the morning to call around. First couple plumbers I called didn't have any availability for a week. I called John and he was at my house 1 hour later working on my problem. 3 hours later, pipe is fixed water is back on in the house and me and my family are happy campers again!!

John's price was average. However he was very helpful and has many interesting stories to tell. Cleaned up after himself and did a very good job replacing the four toilets. Recommended plumber.

I called John at 9:30 on a Monday and he was here at 10:30, and replaced my broken valve in less than 15 minutes. Knowledgeable, personable, fast and professional. Five stars.

John was incredible. He found my leak in the wall upstairs & fixed the pipe. What I appreciated is instead of cutting into the wall in the bathroom, John first cut from a bedroom closet (so the cut is not visible in everyday life).

READ THIS REVIEW- Prior to calling John, we did two major bathroom remodels. We used a plumbing company referred to us by the fixture gallery. (great place) Plumbers did a decent job, charged going rate. 4K. It took a little longer than expected, but not a big deal. Recently we hired John for water heater and misc. challenging plumbing work. He has so much more knowledge ( we met with several others ) the guy knows what he is doing, responds immediately, on time, doesn’t waste time with chit chat or question after question. We were not looking for a personable upbeat person. We just wanted an outstanding plumber with integrity to get job done. He was a little more reasonable, but not why we hired him. He was upfront from the beginning, the estimate did not change, and finished project ahead of schedule.

Second time I have used the services of John D Plumber.Reasonable price and quality work. Showed up on time and was able to come up with creative solutions.

On 12/13 John of John D. Plumbing came out and replaced a hot water faucet that was attached to my hot water insinkerator in my kitchen. Showed up on time. When finished with the job he tells me he only accepts cash. Maybe he should tell his customers this upfront as I was not aware of this . John assured me he guarantees his work and if I ever had a problem to call him and he'd call me right back. That was not the case. On 12/14 at 4:30 PM I go outside to use the outdoor faucet in the backyard. Guess what I had no water!!!! The plumbing to the outdoor faucet is underneath my kitchen sink. I could not imagine why there was no water . I called John immediately not once but twice leaving a detailed message and asked for him to call me back asap, Three hours later I get a call back only for John to deny he ever touched it. Now I know why he only takes cash.

Very responsive, knowledgable, and had all the right tools for the job. John came over in the middle of the night after I punctured a pipe in my new place. He is also very reasonably priced - especially since he showed up in < 15 minutes. Thanks again, John!

I tried DYI and failed miserably, I cracked a pipe in the wall behind our wash machine. I called John and he was miraculously at my house 5 minutes later, no joke. Less than an hour later everything was fixed and much better than before. What a lifesaver! Funny guy as well, very personable.

Major plumbing leak, flooding the bathroom, naturally occurring at midnight Sunday morning. Turned off the water at the main so here I am with no water.
Called several plumbers with no answer and finally called John. He answered the phone himself and asked me to text him a photo of the problem and my address. Ten minutes later, I get a text saying he's on his way.
He arrived and got right to work. Fixed the problem very quickly and charged what I thought was a reasonable amount for a Sunday call-out.
On top of that, he's a really nice guy. After he was done we spent a while just having an interesting conversation.
Would I do business with him again? In a heartbeat!

John was pleasant to work with. He was honest and helped us realize we did not need to also employ a restoration company but rather just dry out our small leak ourself. Additionally, he was efficient. We certainly recommend him

While I haven't used John's services yet, I did contact him because we had water slowing leaking from our bathroom exhaust fan. Unlike the other companies that I contacted, John took the time to ask me questions to understand the issue at hand. We determined that it was likely condensation coming from the exhaust pipe, which may need to be wrapped with additional insulation, due to the cold weather. We are going to watch this issue over the weekend, and will definitely call John back should it not subside. Super nice man, willing to take the time to understand my issue. Thanks John! Needed another hose faucet added to a side of my house. John answered my first call, asked for some pictures over text, and sent me a quote within 24 hours. Could have been a $1500 job, but a simple phone from him call sorted the problem of my moms hot water heater. That kind of honesty and integrity can only be 5 stars.

John was extremely responsive and fast. He came on short notice on a Saturday to help us replace a kitchen faucet that was leaking. He did such a good job we asked if he would look at one of our bathroom faucets that had rusted out — he fixed that faucet the same day! We’ll be calling John the next time we need a plumber.

I called John about a dead garbage disposal, he gave me tips to test it out, then scheduled me for the very next day. Ultimately, the disposal came back to life in the evening and it wasn’t necessary for him to come out, but he was super helpful over the phone and ready to be there the next day!

John came within 24 hours to replace a garbage disposal that had stopped working. He actually tried to see if we could save it to save me the money for replacement, but that thing had been on it's last legs for a while and we ended up going with a new one. He was very nice, fast, on time, and reasonably priced.

He wants $200.00 just to install a garbage disposal. Seems very high.

John was fast and efficient, he was able to come out only an hour after I called him. He was also so so kind! I will definitely be using his services again when needed.

John is responsive, professional, no frills and to the point. Much to our dismay, we came home from an out of town work assignment on a Saturday to find NO HOT WATER in our home! This was right after the big snowstorm in Portland. John came out the very next morning, diagnosed the problem and replaced the heating coils in our water heater in no time. He even gave us tips for maintaining our water heater to lengthen the longevity of our water heater unit. He did not upsell and was very matter of fact. We are SO grateful he came to our rescue in such short time (in comparison, our useless home warranty could not provided any help and said the earliest they could send someone out was the following Monday). Highly recommended!

10AM on a Sat water heater dies, I find John online and give him a call he goes by Home Depot picks up a new one and installs it, done by 3:30pm. I have three other calls out to Plummer's and I am sure they wont get back to me till Monday. You will be very happy if you call him. Price was very reasonable (no weekend rush garbage). I am saving his number for any future pluming work you should too.

While I have not used their service, I certainly never will. I had and saw several near accidents with them swerving lane to lane and cutting people off or almost hitting them while switching lanes today while in early afternoon traffic on 217. When you're driving a company vehicle, you might should pay attention since you are a roaming advertisement for them.

I had an emergency with leaking valves and faucet in a new house I purchased. I could not stop the hot water from running without turning off the entire house. I called John, and he was here in less than an hour and made the repairs. His prices were very fair and competitive. I highly recommend him.

John is a nice guy, who know what he is doing. Prompt in response, however did not show up on time planned, rather at his convenience. Also did not revert on the fee in advance when asked in advance, ignored my text messages. Text is the only way to connect with him. He charged $150 for a 30 mins work, and it didn't solve the water dripping issue.
I took his service only because I was not able to pull out the pipe catridge, he just pulled it out and replaced with the new catridge. However the leak did not stop, he pointed it as catridge issue, suggested to get an original one and he left. Now I need to do it all myself again.

I called John and left him a brief voicemail with a water leak issue. He called me back promptly and gave me an accurate diagnosis based on my description. I was able to quickly and easily fix the problem myself.

Honest and Fast Response - he wasn't out to make a quick buck with an unneeded service call. He will be my first call for all plumbing issues in the future.

Excellent and prompt same day service at a reasonable price. My kitchen sink was clogged up and needed a good snaking. John promptly answered the phone, and came within 2 hours. About an hour on the job, he fixed the blockage, identified a couple of other issues, fixed those as well and all was well with the world. Highly recommended!

We sprung a leak when we were replacing the vinyl floor with tiles. The vinyl was glued onto a subfloor on top of the house's subfloor. When we pulled up the first layer of subfloor, one of the nails we pulled up was actually nailed into the pipe. John actually found another part of the pipe where a nail nearly punctured it, because the pipe was almost touching the subfloor. He was very knowledgeable and got the job done well! Would definitely use him again if the need arises, but hopefully there won't be another for a while.

I had a leak spring up in a hot water pipe and was looking to get someone to fix it as quickly as possible. After calling several plumbers it looked like I was going to have to wait 1 week before I could get a plumber to the house. I contacted John and he was at the house within 30 minutes and had it fixed 30 minutes after he arrived. The price was reasonable and response was awesome. I would not hesitate to use him again.

John came in priced less than anyone else by more than $200 to install a new water heater. He did it same day as the call, was the most friendly and interesting person I've met in some time (be sure to engage him in conversation) and left without a trace. I am hiring him to install my sink next. You should hire him too!

This our second time using John and we highly recommend. John is professional, quick, and easy. Our shower got stuck on (full) and we called John. John answered immediately, asked us to text him a pic do the piping, then quoted a flat fee and showed 20 mins later. The job took about 45 mins and it now works perfectly. I had John plumb in a new sink and waste disposer for me. Because of work commitments I was unable to be home and meet with him personally at any time, but through ‘very’ prompt text messaging and a couple of shared photo’s I was able to plan the work, get a quote and get the work done.

Very happy with the fact that he was prepared to do the work through remote communication and the end result is a working sink and waste disposer as expected.

John D is a great guy and an excellent plumber! I have used him twice and would hire him again. My first experience with him was over a year ago. I had a leaking kitchen faucet that was causing water damage to my downstairs bonus room. I called many plumbers, but very few would come out on a weekend, the ones that would work on a weekend were asking for CRAZY money. John not only came within a few hours of my calling him, but only charged me a very reasonable fee. This most recent work I had him do was an install of two bathroom faucets. He had to slightly rebuild the piping connecting to one of the sinks. I was charged $330 for both, which a thought was reasonable.

I’ve hired John D a couple of times. He’s professional and patiently listens to your plumbing problems and explains how to fix it. He has a lot of experience and knows his craft. He’s also a very nice guy. I will hire him again.

Installing new appliances on a Saturday and found out we had the wrong set up for our new dishwasher. We needed a plumber and fast. I had a shower that was leaking. John was able to respond same day, cut into my ceiling to expose the old iron p-trap, replace it with PVC and snake it out. Should have done this years ago! Very friendly. Cost in 2018 was $313, reasonable.

John is an exceptionally talented handyman. This review was for a job he did on my house in 2016. My kitchen faucet+piping was broken and there was water residue in wooden cabinet below the sink. I put some polymeric sheets to prevent further water seepage and also bought a garbage disposer from Home Depot. However the damage was more than just the fittings in an around the dispenser and needed additonal help. John was very quick to respond and he is a tigard local. He was on the site the same day. I had purchased a new faucet as well. I got the best price from John comapred to the other plumbers and service was excellent. I would 100% use him again for any plumbing related issue in my house

This is for a job John did last friday on 09/28/2018. My water heater broke - Bradford-Smith Gas powered (Manf. 2004) and there was water all over my garage when i came back from work on Thurs. eve. I reviewed videos on youtube- turned off the gas line(Ball valve+ Isolation point on heater) and also the water supply inlet (stupid gate valve- was stuck had to gently try 20 times for the rust laden screw to turn, but thank god it was working). Portland area has an extreme shortage of plumbing appointments, got to learn about it the hard way after i got no repsonse after calling 16 companies as per yelp reviews. Finally John answered , i sent the images of the water heater on phone along with basic specs...(dia, height, volume). He was onsite with a new heater in about 3 hours time, exceptionally professional help and service and even included the pressure relief tank for incoming water line. This was a real life saver, got a cheaper quote from him than at other plumbers. Job was done, hot water was turned on in about 20 mins after he left. Awesome again.
