Alex and Alejandro were very professional and knowledgeable about there job. Alejandro knew what was needed before even being asked. Alex explained what I needed to know about the unit. They cleared and cleaned up after themselves. So happy with your company and employees starting with Mario who sold me on the units. Thank you again for the excellent work. Carlson Heating installed a new upgrade swamp cooler. Efficient and competent team. Price was competitive and office staff is polite and helpful. Definitely will use this co for all services noted.
I had to replace a water heater, and Alex and Dario were a dream team from B. Carlson. They were knowledgeable, competent, and so efficient at doing the removal and installation despite a challenging location. I was very pleased with the quality of the equipment and the neatness of the installation. I’ve used B. Carlson for nearly 20 years, and I can’t recommend them enough. A high quality organization that you can count on to be there in the future.

When we bought our house 11 years ago we knew we were living on borrowed time with the old air conditioning unit on the roof, but for 11 years, maintenance by B. Carlson helped keep it working. This year, our luck ran out and we needed to replace the old one. Mario Martinez helped us select a new model that would be more efficient than our old one and even helped us navigate a rebate from PNM. He offered great advice on the pros and cons of the various units available. Installation was handled exactly as planned, and our new unit keeps our house extremely comfortable. Our electric bills have been lower, too. Buying a new unit is painful to the pocketbook, but Mario helped ease the pain with his great service and advice.

Professional, courtesy service.
Alex and Manuel installed a fairly complicated mini split system at my house. They were wonderful--prompt, neat, and workmanlike. My new system is definitely more effective than my old evaporative cooler, but it's also more aesthetically appealing. Alex and Manuel skillfully hid all the interior wiring and piping, and even made sure the exterior lines to the condensers were symmetrically placed. This is some real craftsmanship! Highly recommended.

Kris was very friendly helpful on the phone getting me scheduled for service and also maintenance on my heating system. I've always been pleased with the service I receive and have been using them for years and plan to continue doing so.
Good news, the source of the noise causing vibration was found and resolved. Other minor checks and adjustments were made and the unit operates nicely and quietly.
My thanks to Ben, Manuel and Omar for coming out in a timely manner and taking care of it. Also, my thanks to B CARLSON for responding so quickly to my concerns.

B Carlson was there when I needed them. We were time pressured to get an inspection and B Carlson was one of the few companies that even knew what we were requesting. After calling over 10 other plumbers, B Carlson was the only company that was able to accommodate our needs. Thanks to Randy, the plumber that did the service for a timely response to our needs.
Had to get a new plumber heating and cooling person as well as a new Co. Daniel (the Tech), did a fantastic job! He made clear of the do and don't he checked quite a few items. Daniel also was patient with my questions and answered so a non tech would understand. My wife and I will be using B. Carlson and Daniel as our tech.
I've been using B Carlson for HVAC Maintenance/Repairs for about a year now and the service has always been good. However, recently Mario has gone above and beyond what I'd expect. My evap cooler is on its last legs and I scheduled a quote with Mario to get it replaced about a month ago. Yesterday, my cooler died completely and I contacted Mario to move forward with the new install upgrade. He was able to come by the next morning to finalize it. And then he went out of his way to check my current cooler, drive to get parts, come back and fix the cooler all complimentary. I have a young child and we would have probably had to wait a few days to have someone come back to fix the cooler while waiting on the new install. I can't thank Mario enough for going WAY above and beyond, and you've made a customer for life here.

Plumbing inspection. Joe was very professional and offered advice on homeowner plumbing maintenance to keep faucets and valves working properly.
I had a full house plumbing inspection as part of my HVAC service contract. It was thorough and informative, and I learned of maintenance items to consider, like water heater service, and was able to discuss additional products I am considering, like a water softener.
Excellent installation service. Always punctual and appreciate the crew taking the time to show me how to operate the thermostat controls for my new air conditioner unit.

I have the maintenance agreement with B. Carlson and Sean, once again, was my technician. He thoroughly check & cleaned the vents and pads on the ground and then he checked the air conditioner on the roof. He found that the fan was spitting oil and that I needed a new condenser and another item. I actually had a factory original fan and condenser and had to purchase the other item. He had me up and running in less than an hour. He made sure to show me the old parts and what was wrong with them. He is always so thorough and knowledgeable and I am glad that he is my technician.

Carlson is the only one I call when I have plumbing or heating issues. In fact I sent you to my 87 year old mom’s house last week and you took care of her furnace and she was very happy. I am happy too!! My furnace and plumbing issues were taken care of .Great service.
We had B. Carlson replace our swamp cooler with a new refrigerated air unit (and furnace) and few years ago. We have a service agreement for spring & fall maintenance. The Techs who provide the service are on-time, knowledgeable and very professional. Daniel inspected our furnace this morning and we are good-to-go for the next heating season. We highly recommend B. Carlson for all your HVAC and plumbing needs!

He was very courteous and took time to explain his suspicions of our problem in a way that we could understand. Stay away, this is such a disappointing company. Jason came by and based on my servicing they are supposed to take care of my filters and those weren't even changed. So, for over half a year they don't' even SERVICE the air conditioning unit...and they still charged me $380 and they did nothing. Be very careful, even though Jason may be nice and he says don't shoot the messenger this company is horrible. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They are unprofessional and didn't even offer to pay for the filter. Stay far away from them, I will be filing a complaint with the BBB as well.

We have been long-time customers of B.Carlson, both for routine maintenance, swamp cooler to furnace switchovers, and purchase and installation of new swamp cooler and new furnace. They have consistently done a great job - technically capable and knowledgeable and great customer service throughout the organization. Today, Pete was at our house to convert from swamp to furnace. Couldn't have been better!
It was time to get a new cooling system so I contacted B. Carlson for a quote on a refrigerated air unit. Jeremy came out and because of the cost to upgrade my entire electrical system I was unable to afford getting refrigerated air. Jeremy however provided me alternatives for an efficient yet powerful evaporated cooler. I couldn't be happier. Despite the many days this summer with temps over 100 degrees my Breezair unit has kept my large two story home cold and comfortable. To top it off I got quotes from other companies and Jeremy helped me to get the lowest price with them.
The install went well also. The crew was professional and Jeremy was there from start to finish to make sure I was a happy customer. I highly recommend this company.
I have been using B Carlson for about 6 or 7 years and they always did a good job. Well my ratings have gone to A+++. Thanks to Kathy and her people they have gone out of their way to perform this great service.

I can't say enough good things about the folks at B. Carlson. We had a new septic tank installed last week (by a different company), and that company accidentally severed an underground gas line that went to our heat/AC units. We called B. Carlson because they installed those units for us about 6 years ago. They were super responsive and had someone out to look at the job by the end of the day. The service manager, Kathy, was incredibly helpful and friendly. It was a big job, but she got us on the schedule just a couple of days later. Alex, the lead installer, came out to replace the underground line and bring the whole gas system up to code for inspection by the county. It turned out that there were some leaks elsewhere in the system that we never knew about, so Alex and Nolan came out again the next day to fix the leaks. They worked into the evening because they really wanted to get us up and running again before the long holiday weekend. I was very impressed with their dedication to getting us taken care of. When the guy from the gas company came out to reinstall our gas meter, he was really impressed with the quality of their work. He kept saying what a good job they had done. Throughout the whole process, Kathy did an amazing job of communicating with us as well. She was such a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend this company. They have excellent customer service and do outstanding work!
Tony and Greg were a very professional team, and they worked well together while performing my seasonal furnace and evap cooler maintenance. I appreciated getting their phone call prior to arrival to let me know that they were on their way. Tony was training Greg during this visit, and he took the time to explain what needed to be done and why they did what they did. Greg was eager and willing to learn, and was a great help. I would gladly welcome both gentlemen back to perform work on my home in the future.

We needed a new A/C and furnace combo. We chose B. Carlson after checking out a number of other plumbing heating companies; it was the best decision we have made. All employees were very professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. They also very patiently answered all of our questions. We have nothing but praise for each employee who came to our home to complete their portion of the installation, from Charles the Comfort Specialist who analyzed our needs and recommended the appropriate unit; Alex the Lead Installer who removed the old unit and installed the new one; and Armando the Certified Electrical Tech who came to synchronize the furnace and A/C with the thermostat to meet our needs.
We highly recommend B. Carlson and their employees and will be long-time customers. In addition, we were not solicited to write this recommendation, rather, we asked if we could.
Finally, we want to give a shout out to Jeremy and Maureen!
The technician, Ryan, was extremely professional and courteous as well as knowledgeable. He kept me informed of what he was doing and how he was going to remedy the problem and as well he did it in a timely fashion. As we Ashlan in the office was very courteous and helpful. After investing over $7,000.00 for a new refrigerated air conditioner and heater for our rental property, we are still waiting to find out why the unit does not cool past 78?? Had 3 different techs come out. We have a meeting with Mario and the Coleman rep next week - My husband feels like he is getting the run around as someone in the office told him our tenant was happy with 78 degrees - not the point- We hoped to have a unit that would cool the townhouse to 65 degrees if we wanted it to. I hope we can get this resolved. We had a good meeting yesterday 8/17/16 - The Coleman rep found that the intake flow was reduced and they found insulation in the vent - once this was removed the air flow read was better. We are all keeping our fingers crossed that this will resolve our cooling issues. I appreciate the fact that Mario has continued to troubleshoot this issue with us.
Your employees are always on time, call first, answer all of my questions and are friendly and knowledgeable about what they're doing. Tony took care of my leaky hose bib and so far no leaks!

This company deserves one star because they did ultimately fix the issue with my AC unit. However,
the issue that I have with them is their customer service. It took this company three days to come out and repair my unit and upon the date of our scheduled repair they were 5 1/2 hours late. Considering they gave me a 3 hour time window... this was absurd. The gentleman was extremely rude on the phone and during his visit at the house. If I had a choice as to whom came to repair my unit I would never choose this company. But the house is a rental so it is not my decision.

I couldn't have asked for better service. Tony found the leak and showed me a video of it. He explained how he was going to repair the leaking pipe. He had it repaired quickly and showed me the worn parts and another video of the repair. If I could request Tony for any future plumbing repairs I would.
I have used Carlson in the past and have been pleased with their services. I will be using them in the future.
Tony came out, diagnosed my line leak, fixed it and was able to give me the cost right there on the spot! I had options on cost to repair or cap the line. Stayed here until he was sure it wasn't going to leak anymore. Very professional and, he takes great pride in his work! How often do you find that to be the case in New Mexico? Not very often. I am a customer of B Carlson for the duration.

My swamp cooler sprung a leak and prompted me to look online to research how big of an issue it was. Found B Carlson through some searching, and had a very informative page on their site about what might be wrong and how to deal with it. Called them since I liked their website and straighforwardness, and got a very friendly receptionist. I wish I remembered her name, but if the whole office staff carries a similar conduct, they're doing something right!
I only had to wait a week for the service (some companies quoted me a two or three week lead time). The gentleman who serviced my swamp cooler and my heating system was professional, friendly and walked me through each step of what he was doing. His name was Christian Aguirre and I will be asking for him again when I need service again. I really appreciate this companies quality of service, and even more so the quality of employees!
They also have a great service where you pay up front (with a small discount) for your summer service as well, and they are proactive and reach out to you to schedule the service in the spring.
Definitely use this company if you would like an easy and stress free experience.

From Kris at the office, to Mario, Raphael, Manuel and Alex the field supervisor, the entire crew was professional and did good work removing swamp cooler and installing HVAC system. Kris deserves a commission for selling me on the idea. Mario went the extra mile (literally) to please me. The job ran a half day overtime but that was due to weather and no big deal. Mario has assured me he will check in when the weather heats up to make sure the system is working perfectly. I am confident it will. Thanks for a job well done.
Had the follow up meeting with Jeremy and Shannon. They were great. Installed a new filter, cleaned up the roof and even fixed a light fixture. B Carlson people continue to impress.

The installers were incredibly hard working and the job was completed with attention to protecting the home environment. A city inspection was arranged and completed within the next week and the customer service specialists helped with the PNM rebate form and documentation so I was able to apply for a rebate quickly. I obtained quotes from several companies and B Carlson provided the most detailed and comprehensive quote as well as information about terms and conditions and future services. B Carlson had the most knowledge about the PNM rebate and guided me appropriately. The job was completed and I felt that I received service from the entire B Carlson team, not just the installers. This company demonstrated excellent organization and service all-around. Thank you B Carlson team.

They were able to come out the same day I called to fix our furnace and called about 30 min ahead to tell me they were sending someone out. They had the part, replaced it and did an inspection of the rest of the furnace. The technician was Jason and he was very professional and courteous. He seemed to be knowledgeable and was very good at explaining what he was doing and checking. The furnace is working like it should and there was a followup call the next day to make sure things were working and that we were happy with the service. Will use them next time the need arises.
Update July 2020 Rafael came out to perform the yearly checkup on my AC unit and did a very thorough job. He spent the time and cleaned and checked things more thoroughly than some of the previous technicians have. I'll be requesting him, from now on.

I purchased my heating and air conditioning units from B Carlson a few years back. So far, so good. I have their technicians come out twice a year to do the semi-annual inspection/service. The gentleman who came out today, Sean, was professional, polite, thorough and just an all-around nice guy. Great customer service!
Would give 10 stars if I could - professional, friendly, awesome! B Carlson did a new installation for me and removed the old package unit on my rooftop. I wanted the new 2 stage technology and I wanted something quiet - as my old was noisy. The sales rep, Mario and the installation tech, David both took extra time with me to help me to decide which brand and which unit of that brand to get. If you are looking for a new or replacement HVAC system, I suggest you always go with a company that is not married to just one brand. Mario took time with me to understand my needs and went out of his way to explain the various options and to find a reasonably priced, properly sized unit. I went with the Bryant brand (which is made by Carrier but without the label, hence saving a few hundred dollars right there). I had a million questions and both Mario and David went out of their way to answer them. I found everyone, including Paula in the office, to be very knowledgeable, courteous, professional and just plain awesome to work with. I saved money, got top notch service, and am very happy with my new quiet, efficient system. Thanks to everyone at B Carlson!

The plumbers who came to our home were very polite, very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The office staff is also very friendly and helpful. B Carlton is an honest and trustworthy company and they will do everything they can to make sure the customer is happy with their service.
I think these guys are total scam artists. We have had an annual contract for several (2-3)years. That means they come out every winter and spring to do the changeover of our heater and evaporative cooler. EVERY SINGLE TIME they have come out, without even one exception, they somehow found a problem that cost between $150 and $600. I repeat, not a single exception.
So today the price was supposed to be $169 for a new belt. Why they didn't find the belt during the winter shutdown is unknown.
The tech said he was going to charge me for that plus the annual contract. I told him I wanted to talk to my wife before agreeing to pay the annual contract. He says that today is the first day of the new cycle! So if I don't pay the annual contract, he has to charge me more.
I told him THEN I DEFINITELY DON'T WANT TO RENEW THE CONTRACT.
It cost me $329. Yes, I paid an additional $160 to be rid of these people.
Sean did a great job servicing our heating unit.
Will did a good job also. I was not very happy with the $160.00 bill for 5 mins work, though. I’m in a neck brace and cannot do that kind of repair. I gave Will permission to the job but still believe the cost was very high. Would I have paid the same amount if Will had spent on hour on the task?

Everyone that I dealt with was very professional. The lead installer made sure the air was working before he left the second day. Installation took a little longer than expected, but he was able to finish everything up the next day. Good explanation on how the unit works. They took care in removing the MasterCool off the roof as I was giving it to my daughter to use. This company made a very good impression and I will definitely use them again and refer them to others.

First want to compliment the company as a whole. From the first time I called to make an appointment, to service call, to follow-up each member of the staff was upbeat, polite, and easy to work with. My service tech, Paul called to say he was on his way and arrived promptly within time of appointment given. He spent time listening to my concerns, explained all he was going to do and went straight to work checking both of my AC units. After evaluation of units and doing a general maintenance of units, he showed me the part that needed to be replace, discussed why and gave me a quote up front. All repairs were performed quickly and on the spot and this was very convenient not to have to schedule second appointment. Also want to compliment Paul for being so polite and taking the time to answer all my questions. I would definitely recommend this company and personally ask for Paul for my next AC tune up.

I scheduled an appointment with the office for Tuesday afternoon to repair a leaky kitchen faucet
Their employee called me at 2:45pm to let me know the technician was just leaving the Bosque and would be at my home by 3:30pm
I left work early to meet the technician and found a note on my front door at 3:30pm
I immediately called the office and was gruffly informed they had pulled their technician off the job
I later called their 24/7 number to try and get the leak repaired that evening but never received a return call
I found this company to be extremely unreliable and unprofessional
I would highly unrecommend them to home owners in Albuquerque
My furnace died and I have two young kids in the house. They went out of their way to expedite the install so my little ones did not have to sit in a 50° house. Very professional and honest.

We had to make a last minute change to the brand of the unit we were installing but even though it was a more expensive unit they did not charge us any more. Be sure to consider them if you need HVAC work done.

Joseph Sanchez provided exemplary service. He took time explaining to me basic plumbing and what to do in case of a leak.
After our 50 gallon waterheater began leaking, my wife and I decided to get a tankless waterheater. We talked to several contractors but decided to go with Carlson based on the price and expected completion date. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a bad decision.
Carleson's sales representative told me that it would take one day to install the waterheater (Rinnai 98 model) and another day to arrange for inspections by the state/city and then for Carlson to perform their final turn on of the system. The installation began on a Wednesday and my wife took the day off from work to be at home. On the day work began, my wife was informed by the installer that it would take two full days for the installation, rather than one day. I was livid and immediately called Carlson. Carlson apologized and advised that by mistake, the wrong model had been set aside, which caused a delay. For the delay and inconvenience, Carlson agreed to take an additional $200 dollars off of the price .
On the second day, my wife again took the day off from work to be at home. After completing the installation, the installer indicated Carlson would make arrangements for the state inspector to come out the next morning (Friday). Therefore, I took Friday off from work and waited for the state inspector to arrive. When no one had arrived by early afternoon, I began calling the state inspector's office. After several unanswered calls, I finally reached the inspector and was told that no arrangements were made with his office. I immediately contacted Carlson and was told that they had made arrangements with the City, which was contrary to the information that was provided to my wife. I then proceeded to call the City, only to be informed that they had no appointment scheduled for Friday and that I would need to make arrangements for Monday. As you can imagine, by this point, I was beyond angry.
I immediately contacted Carlson and they proceeded to get in touch with the City, and an inspector agreed to come to the house. Carlson then told me to call NM Gas to make arrangements for that inspection. Unfortunately, by this time, it was already around 3:00pm and NM Gas was only willing to schedule their inspection on Monday, which meant taking an additional day off from work and spending the weekend without hot water.
While I was on the phone with NM Gas, the City inspector arrived and discovered the gas line that Carlson installed was not to City specifications because the shut off valve was missing. The inspector advised the City specification had been in place for over a year and Carlson should have known about it. He indicated that he would be contacting Carlson.
After the City inspection, I called Carlson and was put on hold because the City inspector was talking to them. Afterward, the Carlson representative tried to defray some of my dissatisfaction by blaming the inspection process. When I told her that the real problem was the miscommunication and misinformation that I received from Carlson, she had nothing to say. That evening, at around 5:15pm, the Carlson installer came back to the house to install the shut off valve and bring the gas line up to City specifications. We spent the entire weekend without hot water and it wasn't until Monday at approximately 11:00am before the entire project was complete. To make matters worse, we were left with two large holes in the garage ceiling because of the new gas line. When asked about the holes, the installer informed Carlson does not do sheetrock repair and the repair ultimately fell on me. In addition, we received improperly filled out paper work from Carlson for our rebate check.
The one day installation followed by a one day inspection that we were initially promised turned out to be a six day costly nightmare and required my wife and I to each take several days off of work. Needless to say, we would not recommend Carlson for tankless waterheater installation and would be weary of any of services they offer.
They were easy to work with. Gave the quote right there so I know what to expect. Did the job quickly. It looks good. They were pros.
My experience with B Carlson Heating Cooling and Plumbing was the BEST experience I have ever had dealing with a contractor!!! i don't normally write reviews but I had such great service I felt I had to share! From start to finish they with EXCEPTIONAL. Girl that helped on the phone was compassionate and moved the schedule around to get some out for service same day at time that was convenient for me. The service man was able to quickly determine what the problem was. He gave me the repair quote and recommended before I put money towards this repair I should talk to sales guy about replacing the unit because it was very old. I had no idea, something i never thought of. The sales guy came out and was also very nice and professional, He gave me an education on heating and cooling systems. He never tried to sell me a new system. Needless to say B. Carlson has my business! If your looking for Heating Cooling or Plumbing company don't hesitate to give them a try. I wont hesitate to recommend them to anyone!
Tony and joe would have had my house converted to the tankless water heater in one day if it weren’t for the gas company and city never being on time. They figured out the ridiculous way the previous plumbers ran the gas line in order to tire in correctly and found I had a minor gas leak in an old line. Fixed it for us too. Couldn’t be happier.

He did that and it looks great and fits the space. I would recommend Carlson for any job, big or small. They have done our swamp cooler servicing and a full re-pipe of our house.

My water heater stopped working on Sunday during this artic blast. I called Monday morning and they scheduled a tech for noon. Tech Ryan made it by at 10:30am. He cleaned up and checked my old heater and was able to get it to relight. He gave me a quote to replace my old system which is badly needed. Ryan was very courteous and knowledgeable. Mario in sales recommended for the downstairs unit using BreezAir downdraft which has 10 speed control with automatic water quality control. This unit is awesome in performance. When the AC went out on Father's day it was starting to get warm inside even for my family from Phoenix. Sean came out early I might add. he offered the service plan which is the way to go. It must have been 100 degrees outside and Sean just jumped up in the attic without an hesitation. He found an area where the tape came up and I was paying to AC the attic with the power company. My house was cooling down in less than an hour and the family is cool once again. Thank you B Carlson but a very big thank you to Sean.

Edit: B. Carlson reached out to me to correct most of the issues in my original review. Turns out they were mostly due to communication issues between a newer staff member and myself. While I am unlikely to use them at this point as they have been by far the most expensive quote I have gotten, I have amended my review to remove some of the more egregious issues.
Do not hire these guys for water heater problems! The tech they sent out came in and took 5 minutes to tell me that the water heater would need to be replaced (no problem, its old, it happens). He then did not give me any kind of estimate on what it would cost to replace the unit, and stood around waiting for half an hour for instructions from the home office that never came. Over a day later, I was contacted with an estimate, but in the end it was not really competitive.
They may be good for AC/Heat, but they are not worth your time for water heaters.
Pros: B Carlson was timely and got the job done within the stated timeline to get our AC conversion completed with summer looming. I am extremely satisfied with the unit and how it performs as expected
Update 9/27/21: The management at B Carlson reached out to me and made good on their promise to do the job right. They earned my business with their follow up and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them or recommend them again after they took the time to come back out and make an aesthetic repair. Switching to refrigerated with BCarlson was a great decision overall.
Original review June 2021 Cons: When quoted for the job I was told that this company “does the job right”, however when an accidental hole was drilled by the technician in our exterior stucco, we got a tacky patch job with clear silicon that isn’t very appealing on the exterior of your home, and worries me about long term durability. With the very significant expense of the job, I feel attention to detail was a bit lacking - and slapping on some silicone is not best business practice when it comes to one of your biggest investments; your home.

This is by far one of the best companies I have dealt with. To begin with, the sales rep Charles was very informative. He answered all my questions and made me feel at ease with the installation of my refrigerated air. The day of the installation could not have gone better. Alex and Nolan showed up on time. They were very professional and courteous. They were aware of the COVID-19 regulations and made me feel comfortable allowing them to come into my home. Alex and Nolan work great as a team and that shows in the quality of work they do. They are experts at what they do. They both answered all of my concerns and I am very happy with their customer service and ethics. The tech noticed that I had vines growing in my air-conditioning condenser and he had me come outside and look at it. Very disappointed in the service I will NEVER call this company for anything. I will stick with TLC or try another local. I thought I would give a local my business, I just wanted to get a maintenance check on my heater, to be up to date; Nothing was wrong with my heater.
They were an hour late and never called to inform me, I CALLED TO MENTION I WAS WAITING & I HAD AN APPT! They took time out of my morning and work schedule. Yes, I set up another appt and thought my bill was to be $79.00, for the maintenance check. I was charged $145.00. I guess it was my misunderstanding that is what I got from the supervisor when i called again! They should of apologized & gave a discount or something. I am not a frugal person, I do not minded paying for a great service. but this company has NO customer service training for customer satisfaction. Very Disappointed !!!!!!!
We have had a service agreement with Carlson for several years. The bi annual A/C and heater conversions have been seamless. We have also had all plumbing and heating repairs done by Carlson. Service is timely and repairs are done correctly. We are satisfied with Carlson.

We recently purchased a new Bryant Heat Pump Package Unit from Mario Martinez. After gathering bids from several local companies, we chose B. Carlson. While it has only been a week, I wanted to comment on my experience. The install went smoothly. Dave and Alex showed up on time, did a fantastic job. The sales manager Jeremy even stopped by to make sure that I was happy. So far, we are thrilled with our new unit and we love our Ecobee4 thermostat. A week after install, Mario came back to check on the unit and helped me fill out my rebate forms for PNM. I had a very pleasant experience with the whole crew and even purchased a preferred service agreement something I have never done before.

We're new to B. Carlson, and new to the service agreement. Pete was incredibly thorough and professional in inspecting our evaporative cooler and furnace, and winterizing our home. I also appreciate Kris proactively calling to schedule the appointment a few weeks ago (one less thing on my to-do list), and then calling again to confirm the appointment as the date approached. They, like the rest of the staff we've interacted with, seem to care a lot about their customers and the quality of their work.
Chris Ulibarri is an excellent representative and salesman for B Carlson.His sales pitch was just right, also ample product knowledge.
We had an air conditioning go out and it was a dozy! Air conditioning fan was off kilter & was cutting pipes and wires! Well, I called around for pricing, and as often is the case in the middle of the late summer... availability. The crew was not able to do the repairs for three or four days. When the crew got here to diagnosis they told us what it was and that we would need a new A/C. (Ok this old one was over 20 yrs old so it didn't come as a surprise.) But the team put down drop cloths in my entryway to my back door, they were respectful and informed us when they took a break (not much) and when they would be back. The team did the extras (in the price they quoted) like Installing an emergency cut off switch next to the unit. Making a custom cover door for the filter. Making a reusable filter to go in the unit, etc. They work with various banks to allow us to finance the work as we are a younger couple on a limited income. The inspector from the city comes out, looks in the house and at the unit, and comments on the extra work they did to make it easy to inspect and make it look good for us the customers. (This made it clear to me even more - that the inspector was impressed!)
Then winter during the freeze we had our hot water heater decided it needed to vent the water up through the top -i.e. it died. B Carlson was back. Because it was between Christmas & New Years, they gave me the options of emergency call & rates or Be there, Monday morning on Standard hours & rates. Given we had cold water available and friends willing to share their showers we chose standard. But bright and early, after the holidays they were here installing a new water heater. They went the extra mile again!! Drain pan with drain pipe under the unit. He put a new vent pipe in to keep it uniform. They took steps to make it a very professional job. The city inspector came out for the water heater and mentioned the drip pan, that he doesn't see it often. (Again, B Carlson did the little extras.)
(Sorry B Carlson that it took me so long to get the review up... that I said I would do I'm January 2019, and now it is June lol but :) I am happy to share what a great job you did!)
Friendly, courteous, and installed everything very skillfully. I am beyond satisfied with the installation of a new heater and air conditioner. I converted from a swamp cooler. I won't know how well it works until summer, but I am optimistic and B Caledon had provided to make sure the cooler is writing at maximum capacity when the time comes.
Customer service as well has been top notch.
AC compressor was not shutting off. Christian identified the problem quickly as a sticking switch. The melted wire and scorched contact indicated we came close to burning out the compressor. It was a quick fix and I enjoyed Christian bringing me through the repair so I'll better understand the system next time something happens. Great customer service!
Carlson Tech’s are always extremely prepared to answers any questions I have about the call. The Techs are extremely customer oriented and that is so important. Pete was the Tech today. A extremely nice person. I am happy with Carlson and never concerned about their work ethics.

$400 for a thermostat replacement and they didn't even secure to the wall I had to give the tech some wall anchors. Didn't even go into the attic to check the plenum which was something I asked them to do. If you want to pay a lot of money for nothing then this is the place to call
Brad was patient and instructive - he answered all our questions, and we had a lot of questions. We called him to flush the tankless hot water heater after our unfortunate attempt a year ago. He showed us where all the hookups were, what everything was, the results of a thorough flush, and he even tested our hard water.
He had an interesting morning wrestling with a boiler, but he was very nice and well spoken. He could easily teach other plumbers the trade, but he made it easy for us to understand.

One of the units was extremely old; with no wiring diagram available online, yet he persisted and successfully wired it and got it to go! Didn’t try to push anything on me, did what I asked and was just great and pleasant to deal with . I would recommend him to all my contacts. Great job!
I contacted B Carlson on behalf of my Landlord and spoke to Jeremy. He was very helpful and was able to get us worked into their very busy schedule the next day. Rafael came out within the scheduled time frame and quickly figured out what the problem was. He was so nice and respectful of our home and genuinely concerned about us having no heat. Sara and Kathy were so nice and helpful in trying to deal with my landlord and keeping me informed every step of the way. Unfortunately my landlord declined repairs because she thought is was too expensive. She called another company and it’s been 6 days now and after 3 visits a huge oil stain in my driveway from this other company I still don’t have heat! If I could I would give them 0 star. What a company. Charge you $79 do come over and diagnose the problem? All I need is to replace a part that’s broken and they still want to charge for to tell me wats wrong with it after the company guarantee the unit send me a new one to replace it. Wow! Just wow! Call someone else and don’t bother to call this company. I’ll make sure I’ll tee this to anyone who is looking for a plumbing company.

His proposal was so detailed it was very easy for me, a total newbie to refrigerated air conditioning systems, to understand what was involved and that helped me so much! And it was so prompt! He was absolutely the most professional and knowledgeable of all the HVAC people I worked with.

Carlson for preventative maintenance of our Heating and A/C systems since 2011, following the recommendation of the previous owners of our house who used their services in prior years. Tony explained the process, provided an estimated bill, prior to performing any service. He stated he might have to return the next day however he was so efficient and the leak area was found quickly. He was able to dig, detect, repair and fill the hole very timely and same day! Services for swamp cooler and radiant heat are under an annual contract. There is always good communication and prompt, quality service.
Waited a week for the appointment and got a no show. The office messed up the phone numbers and I even called to confirm and it still got messed up. Technician was very nice and tried to correct it but it’s too late. It should be remembered that people must take off work to meet service technicians at their home. The opportunity cost of these appointments to the customer can vastly exceed the cost of the repair or services rendered and should be respected.

The repair man relied on me to diagnose the problem with my furnace.He did absolutely no inspection. Then he went to his truck,made some calls, came back and wanted to charge me 579.00 dollars for a new motor.Sounds like a rip off.I will try some other business.
Mario took his time and was very good at explaining the differences with the Artic Breeze versus a standard evaporative cooler..The Artic Breeze is working great.

They came and did a diagnostic evaluation on our broken air conditioner which I was told would be around 80$. The guy examined the system and it took him about 20-30 minutes and then he spent about 20-30min patiently explaining the situation and what he thought it would cause to fix it etc...I thought he was so nice to take the time to really break it down and explain it so well. Then he comes back with the bill! He was charging us 150$ more than the original 80$ diagnostics because of extra time spent!!! 150$ for time he spent explaining the problem and the possible solutions!!! I felt totally robbed! I complained to their main office and they said they would send the complaint to their service department; and they never called me back. I was so upset that I had to go with another company for the repair.

If I could give this review less than one star I would. I trusted the ratings on this page nd called B Carlrlson for service. I had a tech come.out to diagnose my inoperable HVAC unit in the heat of the summer hoping for a quick turnaround NOT!!. After two visits a part was ordered and I waited over a week when I informed the company I would pay to have the order expedited for arrival in 3-4 days. And to top it all off, when the part arrived and a tech was finally scheduled to perform the install of the part it was not the right part and was promised I would receive a call from the office to discuss what would happen next. No, call and I had to call and then was told that my installation was modified by the original installer (not B Carlson). Never once was the term modified ever used during any of the onsite visits. They requested to speak wirh the original installation company and technical support. I never heard back from them. If they did not want to perform the service the least they could have done was call me back and tell me to find another company. Which by the way I did! No more B Carlson for me and hope this review will help other not to pay for service you don't get!
The pan of our water heater let go and dumped 40 gallons of water on the floor below. B Carlson and their technician Tony did a great job keeping us informed during the entire process. Tony was professional, knowledgeable, responsive, easy to work with and friendly. As scheduling shifted around trying to get the problem resolved and the tank replaced we were kept informed by the office group. We were most pleased and appreciated the help. A new tank was installed, the job was clean and done efficiently.

The flange for the toilet needed to be replaced because it broke and toilet was leaking where it meets the floor. The flange was probably the original with the home thus requiring more retrofitting to install new flange.
Everything was taken care of.
The Carlson team was fabulous. From the professionals who first helped us decide what would work to the Mechanical and Electrical team who made it happen, they were first rate, on time, clean in their work, personable, helpful, determined to create customer delight, friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to explain what they were doing or how to make something work. The leads for each of the install teams were obviously experts with lots of experience and their assistants were far more than assistants. It was clear that they'd been well trained by the lead and didn't miss a beat in supporting each expert step the lead took. They were all very smooth and efficient. I never saw anyone who wasn't busy all the time. On top of that, they were all flexible and interested in how we wanted the end product to work and what we wanted it to look like. If you have to have people working all over your house (which can be stressful in the best of cases), these are the guys you want! We purchased several units. So if you want to be cool and know you'll be backed up with high quality products and excellent service, B Carlson is the company to contact. We opted for the reasonably priced maintenance plan which means that these wizards will be back every 6 months to make sure that we're set for the next season and everything is working as it should be. We are delighted and have no doubt we'll continue to be delighted. (By the way, several of Carlson's competitors told us, because of our weird configuration, that the solution we were looking for was impossible. Well....it wasn't. Not with Carlson!)

I had an intermittent issue that included a pressure switch fault error code. (Furnace still working, just being cautious) I've been using B. Carlson for 15 years so I gave them a call. Their tech came out and said the switch was sticking and the capacitor on the inducer motor was reading low. He went to his van to get a quote. He came back a half hour later and the quote was $385 to replace the switch. ($38.20 on the internet, two tubes, two press on connections and one screw) I asked him to recheck his figures noting the average price for the switch. He came back with the same price but now said he had to replace the motor as he couldn't get the capacitor by itself. (I checked, the capacitor is available in town for $2.95)Cost to replace the motor..$850!!!! Average price on the net for a new Trane inducer motor, $93. I paid him is $80 diagnosis fee and kicked him out. I'll never call Carlson again.

After using Desert Suns for years, we gave up and called B Carlson. What a difference. To begin with, it was easy to get an estimate and plan a service appointment. The technician was knowledgable and very thorough. Edgar was able to extensively clean and revitalizes the poorly maintained equipment, suggesting options that we might also try. When one of the units was making noise, the staff arranged for Edgar to come back the very next morning to fix it up. Everything is running well now.
We are relieved to have professional and committed company to rely on. Wish we had started with B Carlson years ago. Now we know.

B Carlson was recommended to us from a neighbor, so we got an estimate from them for a furnace fix and a/c upgrade (along with two other companies). They were one of the best priced along with having the best labor warranty. From start to finish, everything was completed with the highest level of detail. All of the workers were professional and friendly. On top of all this B Carlson helped us through a rebate we didn't know was available through PNM. There is absolutely nothing they can improve upon and I would recommend them to anyone.

Excellent customer service. They put me through to an emergency plumber out of normal office hours and I had someone at my house (which is up in the East Mountains) within 2 hrs.
Tony was the utmost professional. He talked me through the issue and we discussed ways in which to fix it. Tony didn’t only offer a quick fix to stop the leak but also offered to fix the rest of the piping in that area so it was up to code.

We've been a very happy B. Carlson customer since 2005, but never had the need to use their emergency after-hours service until this past Saturday when our A/C failed to hold temperature on one of the hottest days of the year. Our Preferred Service Agreement really paid off. I called and reached someone in under 3 minutes. The dispatcher said someone would call in 10 minutes. Less than 10 minutes later Ben, one of their senior techs, called me back and arrived in less than 30 minutes. After checking things inside the house and then working on the system up on the (hot) roof for about 90 minutes, we were back up and running in time for our company to arrive for a one-week visit. I am thrilled at the speediness and quality of the service that Ben and B. Carlson provided to us.

I have a service agreement with B.Carlson. They come out twice a year and check my HVAC and heating system. I have been using them for years and love the service they provide. They keep my systems clean and running at top performance. I believe in being pro-active in mataining, not having to react to unit not working at a bad time. I feel the the service agreement is a great value and peace of mind. Christian is awesome, he came by today and did a thorough cleaning of my HVAC. He did a thorough check-up to make sure all of the units numbers were in line with specs. I know keeping them clean will save us from costly repairs down the road and keep them running efficiently. I also really appreciate the front office staff. Kris called earlier in the year to renew my service contract. Ashelyn, calls to set up my appointments in advance and then the day before as a reminder. They both are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Christian called to let me know he was on the way and was on time. Now I can sit back and relax knowing our cooling comfort is good to go for the rest of this season and the next. We hired B Carlson to fix a broken shower cartridge and handle as well as chase down the cause of, and fix, having no cold water in the house.
Tony, the plumber, was great. Very friendly and did a great job.
I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons.
1) the scheduler didn't provide enough time for the plumber to complete both tasks when he came out, so we were left in the lurch for four more days until he could come back, and
2) when we set up the appointment we asked to replace the broken shower handle. Being a new homeowner I wasnt knowledgeable on the order of operations of things and they never informed me we needed to buy that part ourselves and have it ready for the appointment. So we still don't have a handle on the shower, but at least it's no longer leaking and we have our cold water again!

I received a service time frame of 9-12 on a Monday so I had to take the morning off. They called at 8:53 and I didn't answer because I was in another part of the house and didn't hear my phone. When I returned the call at 9:20 I was told I would have to reschedule since I didn't answer my phone. No one attempted to call back or actually come to the house and knock on the door.

There aren't yet many HVAC firms here who are knowledgeable and staffed w trained personnel who can explain heat pumps yet. Heat pumps are an energy efficient and year-round ductless (and gas-free!) way to heat AND cool buildings. Carlson's crew was wonderful. From the first contact w a representative all the way through to the final inspection and invoicing, every member of the Carlson staff was professional, respectful, friendly, and knowledgeable. My questions, and I always have LOTS, were given prompt and thorough responses. They were always ready w helpful suggestions and ideas as the work progressed. I liked the firm I turned to for maintenance of my aging gas furnace and ANCIENT swamp cooler; I love the Carlson crew and I am totally enjoying the quiet and the clean, cool temperatures the new system has brought to my home just in time for a NM summer!

Good scheduling process, good technician with lots of knowledge he was willing to share, but VERY expensive. My fix was pretty straight forward, took less than 30 minutes, technician used my ladder (I offered it to him) and it was almost $200. I think they had some wiggle room in how much they charged me and still keep the ability to make a profit. Expensive learning opportunity.

My service tech was dispatched quickly. He did an initial diagnostic and called out master technician Terrence for a second opinion.
Courteous, understanding and knowledgeable, Terrence quickly found an incorrectly installed part that he suspected was the culprit. He laid out my options to me, noting all factors in play, the 10 year old system, the strain on the system from improper installation, and other potential problems around not replacing the whole system. He showed me how to save money by using the service contract going forward.
Terrence got me a quick call from the office quoting me the flat rate repair. The sales rep Jeremy was called out to quote me a replacement system if required. The next day Terrence came out, replaced the part along with the servicing of the line and it fired up right away, cooling my house down faster than it had ever done in my 4 years of owning the house.
Thank you B. Carlson and especially a big thanks to Terrence. The definition of professional service is carried and upheld by your outstanding people representing you in our homes. I'm looking forward to my fall service!

I have been using B Carlson for my heating, air conditioning and plumbing needs for nearly 20 years. I have always been VERY impressed with the quality of the service that they have provided. I have never had a concern about their work in twenty years. Recently, I needed to have a water heater replaced in my home and several other services performed very quickly given the impending sale of my home. The staff worked very hard to assure that all of the work was done ASAP for me so I could have all of the work done by closing.
My only suggestion would be to reduce the mark-up on charges for parts as this can be substantial.
I highly recommend this great company to you!

What a great experience during an other than terrible time. returned from a 90 day trip to find the A/C not working, called at a very busy time of year late in the evening, Kathy got us on the schedule for first thing the next morning. Alex was there first thing, quick diagnosis, equally quick repair, recharged unit, working great. Alex took the time to explain the system and the required repairs in such a fashion that even an Old Retired Aircraft Mechanic could understand. I've been a customer of B. Carlson for the last 12 years. I had the preferred service agreement with them, gladly paying for the peace of mind.
This used to be a locally owned company. They just got bought out by someone in Texas.
And this year they jacked the cost up 30% without telling me. I didn't find out until the service technician was done with the service.

I noticed my water bill quadrupled in one month and also my neighbor noticed icing near his property so we figured it must be a pipe leaking. I called and they were able to get someone out in a couple days to diagnose the problem and recommended a copy to pinpoint the leak to avoid unnecessary damage to my property. Within a week, Tony repaired the leak and so far life is back to normal.
I am updating my review after a couple days and lowering the score because I am noticing some concerns regarding the work that may not be resolved for a couple months. After resuming normal water use I'm starting to hear knocking in my pipes again, so I'm not sure if the issue is resolved. I will have to see my next couple water bills to see if it goes back down to normal. I am calling to ensure that this work is guaranteed.
I would recommend anyone to price compare before making a decision. Prior to work being done, I was not aware of the cost of service and experienced sticker shock. After talking with my neighbor who is a plumber I have learned an expensive lesson. The padding of my bill, which included over $1000 charge for a two man job was totally ridiculous. This is a word of warning.
B. Carlson installed a new heating system in my home when no other vendor could offer a solution. The installation technicians could not have been more professional. This experience is the reason they've been NM's best for decades.
Mario was top notch and worked very hard and was very professional and nice to us. He went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied and well taking care of always. Also what we got was a new swamp cooler, Master cooler . Can't wait to use it.

Now our next project involved two new HVAC systems to up-grade our old original systems in the house. Mario Martinez came thru with recommendations regarding our project. In 2003, Carlson HACP installed a new Criterion 2 into an older house I am still living in. I have never had to have it repaired and never had anyone else come in to maintain the unit....In the early morning hours the unit would not kick in and I was freezing. I called and Carlson's sent over a tech mid afternoon ..Mr. Saavedra professionally found the problem, repaired, cleaned the unit and monitored for carbon monoxide... it was good to go. He was also kind enough to instruct me on choosing a better filter, the need for maintance during particular seasons, and to be thinking of changing out the unit...it has been almost 20 yrs. LOL I am totally grateful for the Carlson team to understand my dilemna and sending a tech quickly, instead of having to wait days and cold nights for an available tech during this cold season....Thank you for the blessing you have given this old lady and checking up the next day to see that all went well with the unit . Sean with B. Carlson fixed my heater today and he did a wonderful and thorough job in explaining what the problem was. He also explained what type of filter I need to use as I had been using a filter that caused my central heat/air system to work much harder than it was supposed to. Sean also fixed my a/c this past summer and I was very impressed with his timely arrival, his professionalism and how well he explained what had happened to my unit!
We had a pipe leak right below ground level that was difficult to get to. We called B Carlson, and they were able to squeeze us in that day. Ryan came out and had it fixed quickly. He was friendly and professional, and was very knowledgeable. He was able to get through the foundation without creating a huge mess, and made quick work of the repair. We were very happy with his work.
The Carlson teams are the best! A big shout out to Jeremy, Ashlyn, Dario, Nolan, and Manuel. All very professional and truly a great experience. The office is in the comfort of a new Breezair with the help from Carlson's. Thank you guy's!
They installed two heat pumps and then one mini-splint. Very happy with their work. They have maintained the equipment also. I absolutely love the mini-split; there is no hot air in ductwork to blow in and it cools a room much better than anything with ducts.
Update: Our boiler stopped working and Tony and Greg fixed it and then did some maintenance on the system. Very professional and conscientious.

In early June 2016, I decided to go ahead and do a big plumbing work recommended in the previous year.. John, plumber/technician spent a full day and two part days and completed the job. Excellent!! He was not only efficient and did a great job, but also was so personable and easy to work with. He answered every question I had in the way I understood. Although I have been with Carlson for 20 years or more for heating/cooling work, this is the first plumbing job I had done by the company. From now on I will call John if I have any plumbing problems. I recommend him highly.
Had a disgruntled service person. Unlike most techs he went out of his way to soil the carpet by the furnace cupboard. He damaged the wall around the air intake opening. He sprayed rusty water from the water heater on the ceiling. Was at the house until midnight. Although he was fired the company did not send a letter of apology or offer any kind of compensation. Had been a steady customer for years and was shocked at their lack of reaction to that treatment.
Very good experience with this company today. The tech, Rafael was awesome. The receptionist/scheduler was great too. Will be needing a complete furnace/ac replacement soon...and, assuming their bid is competitive, they will definitely be a top contender.

Christian came out to help with my HVAC system on Nov 29, 2021. He provided annual maintenance on the system but was also able to quickly assess the problem that I’ve been having with the heating—-evidently it was an intermittent gas valve issue. One of the hardest problems to detect is anything intermittent and the fact that he diagnosed it so quickly speaks volumes about his technical abilities. Had a rough series of experiences over the last week. They seem really focused on trying to sell a long-term service contract, even after a year of me telling them no, and stop asking. My wife took a half day off work to meet the plumber - and I spoke directly with the plumber in the morning, but because I didn't answer my cell phone when their office called, they refused to send him out. Apparently, according to them, I am the first person who hasn't been able to answer the phone right away when they call (I guess they have no customers from the base, Sandia Labs, medical, or legal professions). When the plumber did show up, finally, after hours and after I called them, he did not have the necessary parts (even a basic angle stop valve to shut off a leaking toilet) to complete the job. I like the individual plumbers, but their office staff needs to get its act sorted out. I will never do business with them again.
