Two services came out really well with this company, power wash w/ deck staining and window sealing. The 3rd service was patio construction. Initially I was very pleased with the work as they were on time, professional and completed the job in a timely manner. Additionally, they had nice design ideas. I was happy with the job despite the uncompleted trim staining. I left a great review on here for the seemingly proficient job. 1 week later, a quarter of my 1st level was covered in approximately 1.5 of water.
My entire utility closet was floor was covered in water which went under the wall into my foyer, under my stairs towards the front door and soaked a portion of the carpet in my den. After laborious investigation with a plumber - who wet vac'd -free of charge- the floors and closet, the source was found. The output drain pipe for my HVAC, washing machine or dishwasher and water heater was filling up with water. Why? Well because the drain pipe outside, which was extended by this company had a 90 degree joint put onto it facing downwards to the ground then completely buried with soil. So the water had no where to go but back into my house.
I considered long and hard about changing my original review. I believe these are hardworking men with a good work ethic that made a terrible mistake which could cost me considerably in the long run given that I'm now potentially susceptible to mold and mildew. It took days for me to get the situation resolved. My son had to dig up the work they did to find the pipe and then dig out around the pipe for the water to release, which is now pooled into my yard. There was no offer to repair what had to be done to mitigate the damage to my home. There wasn't any offer of a different approach or method to address the drainage output. I had to suggest they cut the joint off. Nightmare. A guy came out, looked at everything and took 1 minute to cut the PVC joint, then left.
My trim was never painted, sand was never placed into the grooves of the stone and not one bit of a partial refund for the trouble I experienced and damage I was left with in result of this mistake they made. To top it all off, they contacted me to do the work. I mentioned previous interest but wanted to shop around. I was called out of the blue for this week long headache, interior damage, inconvenience and further cost I'll have to invest for another company to solve this NEW problem. Nice guys but this is about quality and not personality. Small jobs I recommend but construction and landscaping I would steer clear.
I can sue, it takes nothing to file a small claims suit...it's easy, it's cheap but I won't. Instead I'll just leave my dissatisfaction right here for all to see as a warning. I'll also post it on my community's facebook page as they do lots of work in the neighborhood. People should be aware of this mistake so they don't suffer the same fate with their homes. Oh yeah, the plumbing service - Modern Plumbing Systems, Brian Spurlin - AWESOME...he even called to check up on me and while he was here investigating and wet vac'g, he made recommendations for managing the influx of water until Finish-Line could return for their repair job. Again, I was not charged ANYTHING for the time & effort given by Brian Spurlin with Modern Plumbing Systems.
