They came out assessed the problem, provided payment options which were acceptable, picked up parts needed and installed. The guys were very personable. They even gave my grandson who is raised by a single mother, some life changing info which he truly embraced and I will be forever grateful for.

We had an emergency hot water heater problem. We called Magnolia Plumbing. Christi, the receptionist, listened to our problem and scheduled us for Saturday morning. That is so we would have hot water over the weekend. The service pro, Troy H, was on time. His uniform was clean and he was very polite and courteous. It only took him a few minutes to identify the problem. It was a pressure valve and of course it had to be specially ordered. Troy said that he would take care of everything; ordering the part, scheduling the return trip. He also adjusted the heater so we would have hot water until he returned on Tuesday. My wife and I are so glad we called Magnolia. Christi was a pleasure to talk with and she calmed us down. We were upset because we didn't know the extent of our problem. She scheduled us immediately. Troy was so helpful, we knew we were in the hands of a pro. He proved it by taking care of everything. Again, we thank you MAGNOLIA.

Suddenly had a flood situation in basement near water heater and HVAC. Very worrisome because it wasn’t obvious where the source was. Carlos arrived promptly, did a thorough assessment, and diagnosed the problems. He gave us different options to resolve things. He then implemented and fixed everything. All done while masked and always socially distant. Happiness is no water in the basement!

We are longtime Magnolia customers (residential) in NW Washington, and have had plumbing and heating contracts with them for a long time. Most recent experience very good, as usual. Appointments are handled well, and the service technicians (Carlos this time) are very good, clear at explaining what needs to be done, costs, etc. Highly recommended, in a city where various kinds of home service contractors are often truly awful.

Sinan is always super helpful and friendly. the HVAC guys know their stuff but they can be pretty expensive and sometime recommend solutions which are not absolutely needed.

Overpriced. Called in for a running toilet, tech came within the scheduled window and stated it would be more cost effective to replace the toilet. $450 to repair the toilet and $750 to replace it. Declined service and paid $75 for less than 10 mins of service. Had I known a running toilet cost $450 to repair (which I highly doubt when parts alone are less than $100) I would have put the $75 toward a $200 replacement from Home Depot. Complete waste of time and money.

Carlos is an exceptional HVAC pro! Gratefully he arrived earlier than expected for my service appointment, diagnosed my HVAC issue, gave me a service plan at a fair and competitive price- with a maintenance plan for the future. Magnolia provides fast, reliable, and courteous service. I have used them to install a new HVAC system, tune up a gas furnace, and replace a hot water heater. The most recent visit was a service call to a property we I have in NoVA and although Sean was not able to fix the problem, he was on-time, courteous, and thorough. He explained what he thought the problem was and did not mind me peering over his shoulder in the cramped space where my heat pump sits. Ends up that the system needs replacing, but I will definitely use Magnolia for the replacement!

Magnolia responded quickly and had Carlos R. at my house the same day I called. My boiler had stopped working overnight, so I woke up with no heat and no hot water. Carlos diagnosed the problem and fixed it, even saying well into the night to be sure everything was working properly. He is knowledgeable, professional and courteous. Highly recommended.

Had an outdoor drainage pipe clog and called a couple companies for estimates. Magnolia had a very nice dispatch person and good price so I went with them. Mario came by that day - he's a good guy and knows his stuff - and used an electric snake to unclog the pipe. The price was $350 which I thought was fair as the clog was about 20 or 30 feet down and took a while. (By the way, the worst estimate: Plumbers 911 estimated $700 with a $89 dispatch charge).

We've had chronic problems with our water heater and their technicians have been prompt, professional and honest. We rent so I can't speak to the prices but for the level of customer service they've provided us, I would pay top dollar. Duane has done multiple service calls and installed a new water heater and he always took the time to answer all the questions I had and explain everything to me clearly. Highly recommend!

Saeid came to my apartment today and completely fixed my air conditioning problem. My AC has been acting up (it's pretty old) and I had no idea what was wrong with it; Saeid did a thorough assessment and told me everything he wanted to do to fix it, explaining how it all works and going over the prices with me. He was so thorough with the work and was very upfront about how long these repairs would last before I would most likely need a new unit. I definitely trusted his opinion and was so happy he could get my AC up and running again! I would definitely recommend him and this company for any AC issues. Humberto was great. He had to travel out of the way to pick up a piece for a toilet which is discontinued. Despite this, he arrived on time, dealt with an uncooperative toilet in a small space, changed other parts while he was working on it to make sure it is in good working order. Excellent and prompt professional service. Our technician, Saeid, was courteous and took the time to explain what he was doing, what the problem was, and what needed to be done. Any time an additional item or potential problem was mentioned, it was done in the way of suggestion and not a pushy/salesman like manner. I have always had a great experience with Magnolia Companies, first as a renter when they were the emergency plumber our landlord called when our unit started flooding at midnight, and now as a homeowner with an old HVAC unit. Highly recommend!

Awful company. Company missed the appointment window without apology and called me 30 minutes after the appointment window to let me know they would be there shortly. He -- Carlos -- didn't arrive until like 1.5 hours after we spoke. Carlos came unprepared; he was inarticulate and didnt seem knowledgeable. He spent about 10 minutes doing nothing consequential at all and quoted me 109 for the diagnostic. He completed no work but asked for money down, and said that I would go without heat this weekend because he needed to order parts. He then denied my coupon for the diagnostic. I wouldn't be surprised if this company is just an outright scam.

The google reviews aren't accurate for this company. The google reviews, since they are free, allow anyone to sign up and post reviews. Yelp has this company rated poorly.

Gas Valve on water heater broke and decided on full replacement. Russ, the technician who performed the install, was extremely helpful, both in explaining the what work would be done, even before we actually agreed to the replacement (responding at all hours to my questions, not just regular business hours).

On day of install he arrived exactly at the start of the time window. When the water shutoff didnt work as planned he stuck with it and called in backup (at no extra cost). Finished the work on time while walking me through every step with any questions I had. Even checked back in later that night to confirm all was working correctly.

Magnolia Plumbing Service. A couple of days ago I noticed water was leaking from my hot water tank. Call around for estimates for a tankless water system but was shock at the prices. I call several companies for the estimate and decided to go with a regular tank water heater. I chose Magnolia Plumbing to replace my tank. The plumbing service technician was mainly why I chose this company. He followed up that night with a call to see if I made a decision to go with his company. He saw that my water was ready to go and to call in the morning if I had any problems. Sure enough, that night the water tank fail and water all over the place. I called the plumbing technician Pasquale Skok, he call back and told he would check his schedule and see if he could come that morning. He did come and installed my new water heater and this is the first time that I received such great service from a Plumbing company. Magnolia Plumbing your technician is a true value to your company. He is probably why I will do business with your company in the future. As long as to send Pasquale to do the job. Thanks Pasquale for your sincere help.

PEPCO problems fried the computer in my rooftop AC. Russ K. did a great job diagnosing the problem and searching all over the tri-state area for a replacement part, which he then installed. Russ was courteous, knowledgable, and communicative -- as was Christy at the company's dispatch center. I'm happy I called these guys and will call them again for my other plumbing issues. And I just did -- Felix S. came out and replaced my sump pump. Good quick work. And he inspected other plumbing issues and gave me options for replacing fixtures that need replacing. Kenny came out today (late January 2015) and replaced a bathroom faucet and drain for us; he also gave me some sound advice on a bathroom vent issue; again, great work from a Magnolia tech. I remain very happy with the professionalism and competence of the folks I've dealt with at Magnolia.

On Friday, June 26, I had Magnolia Plumbing assess my HVAC system for a potential leak and clogged condesate line in my home. The service I received from the Magnolia HVAC repair person, Carlos Reed, was abysmal, subpar and offensive.

As a disclaimer, my customer service agent, Jeda H. was exceptional, friendly and helped me pinpoint when to expect Carlos' arrival as he was late and did not get in contact with me to confirm his arrival.

Carlos was condescending, rude and talked down to me. He presented the prices for Magnolia's services in a dubious manner and when I asked him to clarify he repeatedly told me verbatim that 'I wasn't listening'. He tried to get me to sign up for Magnolia plumbing's Gold plan, however, he offered little/no information about the benefits, features and services offered under the plan included. I was so taken aback by his rudeness, lateness and presentation of prices that I declined further services.

When it came time to complete the invoice, he initially refused to record within the invoice what he observed in my HVAC system. I had to call a 2nd HVAC repair person on the phone (who consequently used to work for Magnolia Plumbing and knew that he was breaking protocol) on the phone and put him on speaker to 'convince' Carlos to record the details of the assessment that he performed properly.

There may be better service persons at Magnolia, please steer clear of Carlos Reed, he is completely unprofessional and unscrupulous.

The techican was outstanding. He was very professional and on time to provide outstanding customer service. He explained in detail the entire procedures to repair my plumbing problem. The customer service reps were instrumental in changing my dates to accompany the home association policies. Great service! Needed a new trunk duct. The branches are all fine. Eric at Magnolia came out and did take offs. He sent his specialist Stan out to take more measurements and review the scope. Then Corey did the install. Very professional from beginning to end. Not your standard request and required custom install. Could not have been a better experience. Update 2/2/8: Magnolia is now pressuring me to pay the remaining amount owed even though they acknowledge that repairs are outstanding. Their contractor has failed to make the repairs on 3 separate scheduled appointments, the most recent of which was last week.

An email from Magnolia today:
I'm sure you have received prices for the repair work that is needed.
Why don't you pay the balance minus the expected repair cost and send us the invoices to confirm the amounts after the repair is complete
This back & forth has been going on for a long time.
We very much would like to get paid on the job so we all can move on.

Hired Magnolia to install a 4 unit minisplit ductless system and tankless water heater. Initial salesman (Steve Johnson) was hostile and made promises that Magnolia will not honor. Second salesman (Justin Johnson) continually quotes me additional fees to correct problems with the newly installed units (e.g. repairing the brand new leaking water heater, reconnecting the washer to the water heater, etc), which should be covered under the sales contract. Subcontractors used were unskilled, unlicensed in DC, and left avoidable damage to my floors and walls (e.g. cut a live wire and left it on the floor, left saw blades on the floors, punched erroneous holes in my outside brick walls and left them uncovered for days in the winter, etc.) Management will not return my calls or emails. Would not recommend.

I worked with Magnolia to jet a 53 unit building. We went in every unit to jet and use a camera on the kitchen waste line. Preston Jones, a master plumber, was the primary person assigned to the job. He's very professional and did a great job. He was also really helpful in talking to the building's mechanical engineer. I would ask for him specifically for any future jetting job.

This is the worst company I have ever used for HVAC repair. Prior to scheduling my appointment, I confirmed that there was no premium charge for a technician to come out on a Sunday. The first technician came out and worked on the wrong AC unit (worked on my neighbors unit instead of mine) and charged me $500. We let him know before leaving the house that the AC still wasn't working. He said that he was getting business cards from his van and would be right back. Instead, he just got in his van and drove away. After 20 minutes, I called him and he said that another tech would be on his way in about 30 mins... 4 hours later the new tech showed up and tried to tell me that I needed refrigerant in my unit and tried to charge me about $900 and stated that it was due to premium Sunday pricing... I kindly asked him to leave. Upon his departure, I noticed that my rather new paint job was extremely scratched up and I was now missing paint on my walls, because the tech dragged the ladder along my walls, even though I asked him serval times to take a different path. Once we stopped working with Magnolia, we called another HVAC company and the issue was actually neither of the issues that both Magnolia techs stated. All in all, I was going to be charged about $1500 for my neighbor's unit and refrigerant which wasn't even needed. I would take your business elsewhere with technicians that actually know what they're taking about, don't try to clean out your bank account, or damage your property.

Our upstairs bath drain was clogged and the pipe started leaking down to the first floor. Magnolia sent someone out within a couple of hours of calling. Jermaine W was the technician -- he was fantastic. He was very respectful of our house, cleaned up the mess in the bathtub, explained what the problem was, and successfully cleared the clog and fixed the leak. He even helped adjust the drain stopper, which was giving us problems, for no extra charge.

Extremely unprofessional. Cancelled on me he first day of scheduling with them. They PROMISED to have someone out the first thing in the morning and no one ever showed. Not even the decency to call and notify me something was wrong. Would never recommend to anyone.

On Nov 10, 2015, Michael & Joe provided courteous and outstanding service while replacing our damaged kitchen sink faucet and shut-off valves. After further inspection these experts noticed that the refrigerator valve may need attention as well. So they suggested to closely monitor this issue.

Magnolia is always very responsive and Reggie Dean was great. Very efficient and was clear on all of the options and his recommendations. On a 90° day we went from no A/C to nice and cool within an hour.

Mario S. at Magnolia Plumbing was super helpful and professional. He was on time, correctly assessed the problem quickly and gave me a fair and accurate estimate. Mario worked efficiently, thoroughly and was detail oriented. The job was done well and I'm pleased with his service. This was a complete flange replacement on a toilet in a huge condo building and I especially appreciated the approach he offered so that we did not have to enter the apartment below mine.

This is the second project I've used Magnolia Plumbing. I was very please with how they replaced my hot water heater and the pipe work details. I will call on them again and I recommend them to my friends.

Rebecca was incredible! My bathroom sink drain was draining very slowly. I have very old plumbing and am always concerned about serious problems deep into the walls. When Rebecca took off the drain trap and had to move my old pedestal sink to do it, she found no clogs in the trap. Then she used a long snake for quite a long time, and still the drain was slow. It was looking like I might have to demolish the walls, my biggest fear. But then she really persisted with a 60-ft snake for a very long time, I think for much longer than most plumbers would have done. And with this hard work she fixed it. I highly recommend Rebecca, she is fantastic!

Felix showed up on time and cheerfully introduced himself. I explained the problem and he conducted his own personal assessment. He explained the price for the work to be done (replacing a garbage disposal). After obtaining my signed consent, he went right to work. He completed the job quickly and without any problems. He left me the written materials for the new disposal and showed me how to use the wrench to free the disposal in the event it ever became jammed. He then inquired as to whether there was any other service that I needed performed. I was pleasantly surprised with the efficiency of his service. Felix is in every sense a true professional.

On the plus side, the scheduling was very easy and the technician was punctual and nice.
However, the fee was exorbitant. On top of $189 for diagnosis, they charged $460 for a simple thermocouple replacement! I found out that the thermocouple costs $15, so Magnolia Plumbing charged $445 for 10 mins of labor! Daylight robbery.

My customer experience today with the service technician named Carlos Reed was actually excellent considering I did have to come out of pocket for numerous repairs.

Mr. Reed was very courteous, patience, and knowledgeable as I approached him with numerous questions pertaining to the upkeep of my HVAC unit.

I feel confident my HVAC unit is ready for the summer and I look forward to working with him again come time for my next heating inspection.

We needed a Spacepak expert to diagnose our somewhat unique HVAC system after or regular HVAC guys could ID the issue (which had to do with the electronics - circuit boards, transistors, etc - rather than the mechanical parts).

Magnolia said they would send their most experienced tech, Tan, and he lived up to the title. He ID'ed the issue almost immediatly, fixed some of the mistakes from our last HVAC tech, and had our system running in less than an hour.

The work was pricey, but frankly well worth it. Tan's skillset - understanding botht the electronics and mechincs - is rare. Lessor techs would probably have wanted to replace the whole system or doing some sort of shortcut/ductape job that will lead to a burned out system in 6 months.

We will be using them again - especially for anything we just aren't too sure was done right by our contractors or something.

EXTREMELY and UNFAIR HIGH mark-up on parts; Had 2 service people evaluate my furnace; both gave me different diagnostics on what was the problem. For the first guy, I laid out nearly $1000 for servicing and parts to repair furnace. One week later after it was supposedly fixed, the exact same problem occurred again; so a second tech comes out and says multiple other items need to be replaced, all of which were different from the first assessment! Then what did I pay for the first time???? Ultimately, I listened to his suggestion to replace the furnace, and was told I could apply some costs from the servicing towards a new furnace, which probably would have been the best decision. But guess what! My quote from Magnolia for a new furnace and installation was $1200 higher than my next highest quote for furnace replacement. Had they not given me a discount it would have been $2200 more! I checked with 4 other local competitors and all of their prices were within a $1000 of one another. Nice service guys and all, but the company should not price gouge like that...especially when it is so easy to see online nowadays what you are paying for.

Had a technician come to service our HVAC as we prepare to sell our home and while he did a good job inspecting, his report contained no punctuation and is incredibly hard to understand. After calling Magnolia 4 days in a row asking for an updated, clear report that could be shared with other parties we still don’t have one and are passed around to a new technician who will “send it over shortly” but never do. Don’t expect any small task to be completed timely.

UPDATE: I recently had an issue with my air conditioning system, and I decided to give Magnolia Plumbing another chance to rectify their previous service shortcomings. To my surprise and delight, they truly exceeded my expectations this time around.
First and foremost, I was impressed by the promptness of their response. After reaching out to Reggie, Magnolia Plumbing, they promptly scheduled a visit for the following day to diagnose the issue. This level of responsiveness was a marked improvement from my previous experiences.
Upon arrival, technicians Oscar and Fred quickly got to work, efficiently diagnosing the problem. They demonstrated a high level of professionalism, competence, and technical expertise. Their friendly demeanor and willingness to address all my concerns made the entire experience much more pleasant.
On the day of the repair, Oscar and Fred arrived promptly and efficiently and carried out the necessary repairs on my air conditioning system. They demonstrated excellent attention to detail and ensured that everything was in proper working order before completing the job. Their dedication and thoroughness were truly commendable.
One other individual who deserves special recognition is Reggie, the supervisor. His involvement and oversight clearly made a difference in the overall quality of service provided.
This recent experience with Magnolia Plumbing has completely changed my perspective on their services. While I had reservations based on previous encounters, the exceptional service delivered by Oscar, Fred, and Reggie has made me reconsider.
Although I cannot overlook the issues I faced in the past, this particular experience has restored my confidence in Magnolia Plumbing. I am now confident in recommending this team to others who may require services. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the turnaround and exceptional service provided by Magnolia Plumbing. While there is room for improvement based on past experiences, their commitment to rectify previous issues and the outstanding performance of their technicians on this occasion has won me over.

I have used this service a couple times. The service and pricing never seem to meet my expectations and anything they quote me is usually much higher than any other service providers. Two stars since just because I don't like their service or price they provide, doesn't make it terrible. They have been punctual and responsive whenever I have sought their opinion. But they do call an awful lot to continue to try to sell and upsell

I scheduled a Repair with Magnolia earlier in the week. They were very flexible with me on my schedule. The Technician Russ K. was prompt. He did a thorough diagnostics of my unit and found a locked compressor. He applied a hard start kit to get it working and now I have AC after several weeks. I previously tried other HVAC companies and a was met with 2 canceled service appointments. I'm glad there are companies like Magnolia that can keep to their schedules and and Technicians like Russ that can solve the problem.

My (very) old hot water heater was leaking and I also needed my HVAC system checked out. I called Magnolia and was able to get an appt the same day, and Russ came within the appointed time. He was courteous and professional and figured out all the issues. I needed a new hot water heater and he was able to promise to return and do that work himself 2 days later. That job required dismantling some shelves in the closet where the hot water heater lives and I was pretty anxious about that. But Russ did it all with no fuss and was very good-natured throughout it all too. Magnolia may not be the cheapest but I’ve used them before and they come on time, they do the work well, and they’re always really professional and pleasant to deal with. In my book that’s worth 5 stars.

Mr Steven Smith came on time and fully prepared and knowledgeable of what he was to do. He did an outstanding job for which I telephoned Magnolia Company to verbally report his high standard and excellent work ethic. I Will be extending my contract for services because of him and the other HVAC technicians you have sent in the past. I cannot express how satisfied I am with this service. But as for your plumber who came June 1, Mr Anthony Alfaro, he was totally unprofessional. Without even looking at my garbage disposal he began quoting all price options. My sink was not blocked, there was no back up or anything clogging system. When I finally asked him to look at the garbage disposal, without removing his coat just using the key and resetting it… it worked. He charge d the rip-off rate of $75 for the dispatch fee and another $123.21 for the reset. I Will use Magnolia for all HVAC needs but NEVER AGAIN for plumbing service. Nor will I recommend to my condo association your plumbing service. Kudos for Steven Smith and thank you for sending him. Thumbs down for Anthony Alfaro… and ne et again for him or plumbing service.

I called Magnolia based on a recommendation from a trusted friend in the construction industry to fix my heat pump system. My HVAC specialist, Carlos R., was professional, courteous, and punctual. He was knowledgeable in assessing the issue with my heat pump system, and laid out a clear plan for fixing the problem. He also gave me some good pointers for maintaining my system. I am glad to have my heat back in my home, and I am glad I called Magnolia to fix the problem.

As an added bonus, I was chatting about plumbing issues I had, and Carlos scheduled a Magnolia plumbing specialist to come give a free visual inspection of my home. Pasquale showed up at the same time as the scheduled for repair of my heat pump, which allowed me to maximize the time I was away from my office to deal with home issues. Pasquale was also very helpful in walking me through his recommendations, and talking through some of the easier things I could do on my own. The Magnolia team came through for me today, and solved both my heating and plumbing issues in a couple of hours.

Not so good, we've held two service contracts for a couple of years and magnolia hasn't really triaged the problem within a couple of visits. This time we had a leaky radiator and they had us waiting for two hours during the workweek only to call last minute and say we needed an HVAC guy. Then, we rescheduled and a person came out to tell us we needed a specialist, now the specialist won't call or email us back. Boo.

The work done on job # COD-DC-RESI had not been completed as the plumber attending my residence did not have the proper equipment to adequately finish the job and did NOT turn the water back on. This was an emergency plumbing situation and after speaking to their Operations Manager, he and I discussed that we will walk away amicably and he wouldn't charge me for the work as the work had not been completed. Magnolia offered to come out the next day to finish the job, but I declined as I needed the water turned on the day they came out to provide service, Magnolia not understanding that they didn't fully finish the job. Come to find out that Magnolia did actually deposit the check even after I had instructed (and Magnolia agreed) to not deposit the check. Additionally, when I had to call another plumber back to my residence, it was discovered that the Magnolia plumber actually damaged some pipes, so he had to fix what Magnolia had wronged. I have picture proof that I will be providing to media outlets shortly. I have discussed this issue with Magnolia on 5/5/2017. 5/6/2017 and again on 5/16/2017, with Magnolia informing me that they cannot do anything about it.

We had a gas line issue come up unexpectedly during chimney repairs. Magnolia sent Humberto that day to decide the scope of work and parts needed. Humberto came back the next day and took care of the issue within about 20 min. The scope was clear, the work done well, the price affordable. I recently scheduled an appointment for a plumber to come to my house during the 4 PM to 6 PM slot. The scheduling was via email with real live human beings, and this was the slot they offered and I accepted. No one ever showed up. No calls or emails from anyone, no nothing. I was just completely stood up. When I sent another email to complain about this and ask what happened, they didn’t even bother to write back. No response, no apology, no nothing. If Magnolia’s goal is to do everything in its power to blow off customers and generate no revenue in order to go out of business ASAP, it’s well on its way to doing so well ahead of schedule.

We've been pretty disappointed with Magnolia. Surly plumbers whose answers always seemed to be no, I can't do that, or that'll be another $300. We paid for the annual contract, and found it included very little. Sorry, we can't recommend them.

Edit: Im just adding that the company has contacted me to correct the situation, which was an honest, inconvenient mistake. Giving them an extra star for accountability.

My AC broke on July 4 when everywhere was closed. I called a few places the following morning before calling Magnolia but couldn't get a technician out that day. I told them what was happening and gave them my address along with my other information. I have an appointment window with a technician from 2-4 that day, awesome. Around 3:30, I get a call from the tech saying it's probably going to rain and that he won't be able to effectively work on the outdoor unit, his recommendation is that we schedule first thing in the morning. He has to call back to the office to coordinate an appointment for tomorrow, and tells me he'll call back in 10 mins. 20 minutes later, the office calls me asking why the appointment was cancelled, I explain and they put me on hold. A few minutes later they tell me I'm out of the service area and that they have to cancel the appointment entirely. Now my 9 month pregnant wife and I get to call another company and go on their waiting list. Yay.

A year or so ago my daughter, a first time home owner, thought it best to have a professional turn on the gas valve to her boiler for her steam radiatior system and make sure all was functioning ok.Not knowing any local plumber she called Magnolia to come to her DC house. They were professional and prompt. Coming in the door the tech had her sign an agreement letting her know a job like this was $800 plus.....The tech turned the gas valve on, vacuumed under the burners, etc....not counting travel time, the tech was there less than 2 hours. No parts were needed.

Our sink and bathtub were draining incredibly slowly. I was able to get an appointment the day after I called. Our original technician got sick and had to cancel but Magnolia immediately sent Mario as a replacement. Mario and his partner assessed the blockages and were extremely gracious in how they handled the visit. We needed to get our landlord's written approval to make the fix but she was unavailable at the time and they agreed to come back another day and waive the $75 dispatch fee for the next visit. Mario gave me his direct number so that I would not have to go through the main office (the scheduling system is a bit of a headache) to reschedule his visit. Mario was super flexible with our schedule and handled the fixes quickly and easily. I would give four stars because Magnolia was pretty expensive (600 for the two drains + 75 dispatch fee- look online for promo coupons though!!) but Mario himself was great so I kept the review at 5 stars.

I had Magnolia Plumbing come to my house to snake my main line because it is clogged ONE WEEK AGO. I paid $450 for a man to snake the drain. I still have a clogged drain which is now seeping into my house. I spoke with the manager at Magnolia Plumbing and he was completely unaccountable and did not offer to remedy any of this. They were paid and did not solve any problem. PLEASE DO MORE RESEARCH BEFORE CHOOSING THIS COMPANY!!! If something goes wrong even it is the next day they will not attempt to help you and I would not trust them to help either.

The water heater in my condo unit was closing in on 12 years old. It was time for replacing the water heater with a new one. The utility closet in the condo is very tight and very little room to maneuver. I called Magnolia on Friday morning, and they sent Felix on Saturday morning. He provided an excellent game plan on how to replace the water heater in the tight space. Felix came in on Monday and executed the plan and the results are fantastic. It started with a call Friday and the work completed on Monday, with great quality.

I recently had my first experience with this company when I needed an exterior drain pipe unclogged. Prior to the plumber's arrival, I provided the company with a detailed overview of what had been dropped in the pipe and the various methods I had unsuccessfully tried to unclog the pipe prior to calling the professionals.

Magnolia arrived on-time and explained that there was a minimum charge for coming out to provide an estimate then an additional charge to complete the work. I was aware of the minimum charge and was happy to pay the pros to unclog my drain.

The person they sent out provided me a quote of $327.00 to unclog the pipe. I agreed to this amount with the understanding that there was no guarantee that he would be successful. After spending less than 10 min looking at the drain pipe, the worker explained that he was more of a technician and that a professional plumber would have to come out to address the problem. He then preceded to demand I pay the $327.00 for his time and agree to be charged additional fees for the pro to come later in the day and resolve my clogged drain.

When I originally called Magnolia Plumbing I expected a professional plumber to come to my home and work on resolving my plumbing problems. Instead Magnolia Plumbing sends a tech to charge as much as possible prior to sending the actual plumber.

My advice is to call another company that will work to resolve your plumbing issues, not work to run up the costs of service.

We asked Magnolia to identify an issue with our gas furnace. They claimed it was a missing part, which took over 6 days to get them to re-install. Upon re-installation, they claimed it was actually another part that was missing and had nothing to do with the part we were waiting for (6 days of wait in vein). When we got a second opinion from another company, they fixed the issue within 2 hours... During the entire process, Magnolia was either unresponsive or contradictory in what expectations they were communicating to us. With so many options in the DMV area, look elsewhere for your heating needs.

A service professional who shows up right on time? Priceless.

He has the part on the truck? Can install it right now? Is done in about an hour? Is nice, courteous -- even helps with a really quick fix on another thing that I'd never been able to figure out at no charge. Felix S. was great- very happy I have a working new disposal and this crossed off my list for the day before lunch!!

If I had any constructive criticism, it would be the price seemed a little high --and that's not Felix's issue...and I get it, Magnolia needs to run the company. AND more importantly I didn't have to do the work, I didn't have to sit waiting for the work to be started or completed...and you get what you pay for...so done professionally, done right, done on time, and DONE. This is the worst plumbing service I've ever used. I used Magnolia to address a sewer gas leak in my house, spending over $1500 on the smoke test and repairs. The plumbers showed late, conducted an expensive smoke test to root out the sources of the sewer gas leak. The plumber did not notice smoke emerging from my second floor bathroom until I pointed it out to him. He attempted to replace the wax seal ring in the bathroom, but did not properly set the seal. This led to a continued smell of sewer gas and, eventually, leakage from the bottom of my toilet. I spent another $600 fixing the technician's shoddy, unprofessional work. I strongly recommend you don't use this terrible service.

I should've sent Carlos packing after his quote, and his reluctance to make eye contact with me. I will eat it this time since I was in a rush to have my furnace repaired and didn't want to wait for another company to come out and play the usual estimate games. I could go on and on as to why to use Mag Plumbing. Their customer service is excellent, their techs make you feel at ease when they visit to do the. job, they do quick accurate and fair quotes, and ultimately the job gets done well!
I live in a 60 year old house that needs so much these days.

Over the years Magnolia has provided toilet installs garbage disposals and more recently bathroom and kitchen sink installs. I can't thank these guys enough.
Easy to schedule and they are on time. I know it wont be my last call to them, but Im so glad they are in my and my wife's rolodex!

Ridiculous “service.” I was charged over $600 for snaking the pipe and also a “dispatch” fee of $75 on top of that. Also a $350 feel to remove the toilet and put it back. They said they would send someone out in a few days because they didn’t have the camera to look down pipe. On the day of appt, no one shows and no one calls. I finally called and was told, after much hemming and hawing, that the person was out sick. Not given any reason why I was not notified. I had to take another day off later in the week for them to come out. Meanwhile the downstairs toilet is still off the mount and out of commission. The person who came with the camera said I needed to pay another $75 “dispatch” fee. He only ran the camera 20 ft and didn’t go further because he saw a rat and stopped. He also said he would be sending a quote for digging up my basement to replace a section of the pipe that showed some dips. It’s been a few weeks and I have received nothing. Something seriously wrong with this business.

I had another large well advertised plumbing company come to my house prior to calling Magnolia. The tech really wasn't interested in dealing with the issue. His remedy was to have a carpenter rip up part of my kitchen and then call them back afterwards to determine the leak. I rejected that expensive idea and called Magnolia. Jim Blue arrived and methodically did his plumbing investigation which I would call forensic plumbing. He determined the leak was behind the dishwasher in the stack. Though the repair was not cheap the savings were dramatic compared to having a carpenter pull down kitchen cabinets and tear through subway tile. There is no reason to ever go anywhere else. If you have a plumbing problem I urge you to call Magnolia Plumbing and ask for Jim Blue who was very very knowledgeable.

The customer service at this company is atrocious. I have been rescheduled and cancelled on multiple times after providing a down payment and being repeatedly assured that service would be performed during the scheduled appointment.

I will update this review if they ever actually fix the air conditioning but so far we are going on week 5...

Update: The AC has been fixed but at double the cost that was estimated based on the initial visit. While the technician was kind and apologetic, I will be looking elsewhere in the future.

I had a plumbing emergency and could not be happier with the service provided by Magnolia Plumbing. It was my first time calling, so I wasn't an established client. I called around 9:00am and the customer service rep was incredibly helpful. They arrived at my house by 1:00pm and the team was respectful, knowledgeable, fast and efficient. The Tech was a good man and the office personal were very efficient, but they sent a low voltage tech for a high voltage application which created problems with wiring up the new thermostat. There were many wires from the new stat which could have been used to provide control in the cooling mode. The heat mode is great and, for now, is important to have.

I called Magnolia for an unlit pilot light issue on my furnace. 11-15 18 a Mr Carlos Reed arrived. I told him the pilot light was out and I had checked for a flame sensor, but did not find it. Mr Reed began checking the furnace and stated that it looked like the burners needed cleaning. As he continued his inspection, he found other issues like the control panel, the exhaust stack leading to the roof, blown fuse, etc. He also insinuated that I had tried to work on the furnace, when in fact I told him I had visually looked for the flame sensor, not put a wrench on the furnace. He gave me a repair estimate for $3400 and a replacement estimate for $7500. I decided to get a second opinion and the other service pro found that I needed nothing that Mr Reed said. Needed one inexpensive part. Total bill, parts and labor $250.00. I dont know if Mr Reed though my age would allow me to believe every thing he said was true. I may have been born at night, but not last night. By getting a second opinion, I save thousands of dollars. I will never use or refer Magnolia again.

After detecting a leak the night before, I left a message and got a call back early the next morning. They were able to come out, examine the situation, get a water heater delivered and installed the same day. Russ was knowledgeable and very easy to work with.

My biggest issue with Magnolia is the pricing scheme. They charged for each individual task even if it was required to install and replace a water heater. For example, to drain the old water heater ($270) - this is literally attaching a garden hose to the spigot on the heater and running it to a toilet or sink and then just letting gravity do its thing. Disposing of the old tank ($170+). New valves ($45 each); installing the water pan under the heater ($235); installing expansion tank ($200); and finally, the new tank and labor to install it ($1,100). I Googled AC Smith water heaters, which is the brand they carry, and found out a 40 gallon retails for less than $500. That’s $600 to install it, for about 5 hours of work (over $100 an hour)! All in, it was about a $2,400 ordeal.

Russ was very clear about the costs as they came up, and I agreed to them, but the reality is who is going to turn a company back once they are in the middle of the work or refuse to do individual tasks that are required for the overall project of replacing a water heater, such as installing the water pan underneath it or an expansion tank, which Russ said was now required by code?

My recommendation is to do your homework and get a sense of pricing from a few companies. I didn’t have this luxury as it was a rental unit and I didn’t want my tenant to go without hot water, but if you can take your time to compare different companies, I would. I found out later the average prices for a plumber in my area is $55-70/hour.

The pricing issue aside, the service was great, both over the phone and by the technician, Russ.

The pandemic made replacing my water heater extremely difficult. Nobody had water heaters in stock! Duane went above and beyond to help me find a replacement water heater and get it installed. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable about exactly what needed to be done. He communicated throughout the process, even when things were stalled because of backorders and slow shipping. Duane briefed me on best and worst case scenarios and pointed out errors the condo developer made that he corrected. He was able to do some very intricate work in a very tight space and completed the work in a timely fashion. Duane is a credit to the plumbing profession.

Felix S. was my Service Professional today, Tuesday, November 25, 014. He arrived on time this morning, identified himself, the company, greeted me professionally and confirmed my service request. He then put on blue booties, careful of my wood floors and respectful of my home. I was impressed. You do not normally see this in trade professionals.

I have not used Magnolia in years simply because their prices were not competitive. Again, today Magnolia's prices were more expensive than the other two plumbing companies I contacted, however they were available on a next day request.

If plumbing expertise, knowledge and professionalism were the only standards used to contract for services, my Service Professional, Felix S. would certainly win my plumbing work for Magnolia every time. We have been disappointed with Magnolia's AC capabilities. On their 1st-ever maintenance service call, they changed the terms of their contract and had us ordering the wrong air filters. Their technician then charged an additional $1400 for us to find out the next warm day that our upstairs AC unit is now inoperable. After admitting responsibility for a misdiagnosis and overcharging the system on a cold day, we receive a token refund and promises of a more qualified technician to complete the original maintenance service. Instead we get an installation quote of $13k for a new system we don't need. With many unanswered calls along the way, we've given up on Magnolia.

Tan Cao was the technician for a major HVAC problem at my home. He was very professional and explained all the issues and alternatives available to me. I was very pleased to understand the problem, and he offer several suggestions to improve system performance. He also checked with me regularly about recommendations for the system (e.g., cleaning, filter replacement) before taking action. I was pleased with his timeliness, conduct and ultimately the success of the repairs. I recommend Mr. Cao for any HVAC problems and will call Magnolia next time I need service or repair.

On March 3, 2018 Mr. Saeid Fotouri came to repair my heating system which had been working for only half of my house.He explained what was the problem and how he would fix it. He spent almost whole day to work on the heating system, including replacing the expansion tank this required that he had to return the next day. But the heating was still not working completely . So, he came back for the third time and finally succeeded to resolve the problem.I am fully satisfied with his work and will be happy to call for his service again should the occasion arises.

This technician was WONDERFUL 👍. He did Everything my retired Brother-in-law said a tech should do. We have an older system but the tech was skilled in it as well as newer ones and wanted to help us keep it functioning as long as possible. THANK YOU SO MUCH.!! I am confident that when THIS tech says something is needed, it will be the TRUTH !! The other company tried to sell us a new unit and THEY WERE THE ONES WHO HAD NOT SERVICED IT since my brother-in-law retired years ago, even though we had a contract with them. Fortunately my brother-in-law checked it and found the burnt points etc which should have been serviced. Incredibly the unit started up once new parts were installed. But it could have broken the unit prematurely BECAUSE OF lack of proper servicing. THANK YOU MAGNOLIA FOR GOOD EMPLOYEES !!

Russ K, who does heat and a/c did a wonderful job with adding a new expansion tank and removed air from the heating system. Our heating system works really well. I would like to commend his warm greeting and friendly attitude that made the entire heating repair a very pleasant experience. I don't normally give 5 stars at all. And as humans, we sometimes tend to go straight to the reviews with 1 star. But, I am really recommending Magnolia heating and plumbing to fix a/c and heat. I have not tried their plumbing yet. Again, Russ K, service pro for this company did a wonderful job!

I would never choose Magnolia again. We had them install a high-efficiency boiler 18 months ago. It recently came to my attention that the inspection sticker is not on the boiler, so I called to ask for it. I've now asked more than 6 times over a 6 week period and keep getting vague and evasive answers. I've now been told three times that a manager would call me. I now believe that they probably did they not bother to have it inspected by WSSC despite explicitly saying all work is permitted and inspected. Moreover, it turns out that they never installed check valves, which has rendered the zoning completely ineffective. Shoddy work. Unresponsive and unprofessional. Look elsewhere.

Please do not use this provider. I had the very worst experience I have ever had with a service provider using them. They are an unprofessional, scammy company.

I requested an annual cleaning appointment for my mini split system because they were my system manufacturer's certified provider. First, they arrived four hours after my scheduled appointment time. I had to call five times—and get hung up on four times—to get an appointment four hours after my scheduled time. When I called the fifth time, they told me they were just planning on not showing up. When the technician arrived, they informed me that they would not be doing the cleaning and that a cleaning would be another $1,300 to $1,400. They then charged me $109 to shine a flashlight into the unit and tell me it needed to be cleaned. I am now having someone else come and do this for $79 a few weeks from now.

Update
1. I did indeed have someone do the thing that they said would cost $1,400 for $178. The problem is completely remedied.
2. In response to their comment below, I reached out to them. Someone left a voicemail on my phone well outside of business hours, so I have tried to reach someone with them several times over the course of the past few weeks. No one has ever answered the phone at the extension I was told to call, and no one has ever responded to my voicemails.

What a horrible, disingenuous company.

Very professionally done and went the extra distance in providing customer service including follow up. Magnolia Companies and Russ Knight in particular were extremely responsive and efficient. My new Carrier furnace was not communicating with the air conditioning condenser. Russ figured out the problem, had to leave to get a special transformer and discovered a wiring error on the furnace in short order. Great work.

Called Magnolia Friday afternoon and Reggie Dean was at my house in 2 hours. Reggie diagnosed my heating problem and had it fixed in less that 15 minutes. The folks who scheduled my appointment and Reggie, the service tech who came out were all
outstanding. Reggie spent the right amount of time asesssing the problem with my air conditioner and offering me several options to address it. I like how he didn't pressure me one way or another, but just laid out the pros and cons of there various choices I had. I will need to install a new system soon in the future, but for now, I just need to keep my system running. I appreciated that Reggie didn't give me a hard sell. And that's good for Magnolia's business, because I will go to them for maintenance in the immediate term, and in the short term when I need to replace my AC system, I will go to magnolia to do that, too. I like how they play the long game.

I live in a downtown high-rise that has water supplied heat pumps, which aren't common in other sorts of buildings. Previously I've had HVAC people who didn't really know what the unit was or how to service it, but Reggie really knew what he was doing! He took the time to explain everything and gave the unit a really thorough check. I will definitely ask for him in the future - it's good to know who to turn to if I run into problems in the future. He was also very pleasant and professional.

They clearly make their money off scammy business practices. Hired them to do a maintenance check. First they tried to increase the price of the visit by $50. Then they found a bunch of issues. When I scheduled them to come back to take care of the issues, they didn't show up last minute and had to reschedule. Then my furnace broke for a completely different issue than any they had identified, and I had someone actually competent come and fix it, who let me know not only did they miss the actual issue but several of the services they recommended were not necessary. Now they are trying to charge me a $250 cancellation fee since I don't need them to come out for the original services. Scams all the way down!

Whew, we have to talk about Derrick.

Washington Gas came to my house after a report of a gas leak. They promptly shut off the gas, pointed out where the leak was coming form and left. This was when I called Magnolia Plumbing to fix the leak and hopefully get my gas turned back on. Enter Derrick, stage left. He showed up right on time and walked me through each step he took on site. However, since my gas meter is actually inside the home vs an external meter, he realized that 1.) Washington Gas might not have been able to point out the correct location of the leak. 2.) *IF* there was a leak, the location of the gas pipe to the air duct was too tight to fix and would result in having to create a new piping system. 3.) That the area Washington Gas reported the leak could have been coming from...would actually have been the responsibility of Washington Gas since it wasn't on the house line.

He suggested that I confirm with Washington Gas first before spending any additional money (rerouting of piping would have been up to $5,000).

Sure enough, Washington Gas came out the next day, determined there never was a leak and that yes-- If the leak had been in the original location they pointed out, it would have been the responsibility of Washington Gas to repair.

Each time I've worked with Magnolia Plumbing, they deliver quality service with exceptional communication. Thanks!!

My AC broke and I had the great luck of having Carlos R get assigned to my job. He was extremely smart, diagnosed my problem right away. He was a top of the line professional. What was most extraordinary, though, was how much time Carlos spent making sure my problem got solved. He communicated with me after he left to make sure that the AC kept working and that I understood how to maintain it myself. I don't think I've ever had a service professional, in any field, show as much commitment has he did to finishing the job. Great job to him and to Magnolia.

I was recently turned off by the services of another HVAC contractor that came out and did a maintenance check on my AC back in July 2016 and said everything was fine; I repeat......everything was fine. However, a week or two later (now August 2016), the AC wasn't cooling the house and the contractor came out and indicated that we we lost all of our coolant, probably due to a leak. By the way, our electric bill was outrageous too. Something is fishy here. AC fine before they came out and fine after checking it. But now we've lost 100% of our coolant in a two week period. Hmmmm......they charged us $800 to replace the coolant and I asked them what caused the leak. They said they didn't know and would have to come back out to determine that. They did come back out (in September 2016) and said we needed a new coil for $2,800. So since this was in September 2016 (and we were entering the fall season) and the AC was cooling the house properly w/ normal electric bills, my husband and I delayed getting the work done. Then when May 2017 rolled around and we began using our AC (with no issues nor a sky high electric bills), we starting thinking that our AC was fine and that that contractor was just trying to scam us. I believe we were correct in our assumption, as we had a second contractor come out in June 2017 to inspect our AC and they indicated that everything looked good; again, electric bill is still normal and has been since that one time spike back in July 2016. The AC season for 2017 is just about over and we still haven't had any issues with our AC.

So needless to say, we dropped that original contractor that was servicing our HVAC twice/yr and found Magnolia. I knew of Magnolia's excellent reputation relative to commercial properties but not homeowners. I was truly pleased with Magnolia's service today; servicing our furnace. Reggie was very straight forward about recommending we replace our UV light bulb and get it installed in the correct place (was installed incorrectly). So far, I'm a a happy customer. Thanks Magnolia!!!!

I called late on a Sunday morning, asking for emergency assistance because I had a pinhole leak in a pipe in my hot water heating system, and had to shut off all the water in the house as well as the heat in order to control it. Mr. Younger arrived a few hours later, which I greatly appreciated. However, he took one look at the defective pipe, noted that it was in a heating rather than a plumbing system, and said that the service would have to be handled by one of Magnolia's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) specialists. He called his supervisor, who confirmed his judgment. Mr. Younger gave me a no charge receipt saying that my service call will be sent to the HVAC department, which was unable to respond until Monday.

Bobbie, from Magnolia's office, called early on Monday and said that an HVAC technician would arrive between 10 AM and noon. I was pleased. Gary Jones arrived just a few minutes after 10:00, promptly replaced the pipe, and stayed to help me return the water and heating systems to operation (which turned out to be a longer, more complex, and wetter evolution than either of us expected). Mr. Jones said that Mr. Younger could have done the repair; he had all of the required tools, parts, and skills.

I would like to thank Magnolia for their prompt response to my call for assistance on a holy Sunday, and Mr. Jones for his excellent work and friendly manner. I hope that in the future Magnolia finds a better way to divide the responsibilities between their HVAC and plumbing departments.

I'd like to take a moment and commend the Magnolia team for their professionalism, knowledge, high level of service, quality of work and good communication throughout our whole project. We deal with many service contractors and Magnolia has set themselves apart. I noticed this from the start from the quoting/planning phase and it continued through project execution. We had a last minute code issue get flagged by the inspector (no fault of Magnolia) and they handled these changes fairly and appropriately. It has been a pleasure dealing with everyone I interacted with. I would highly recommend Magnolia.

We had a technician come out because we were having trouble lighting the pilot for our hot water heater. He “tried” to light it and recommended a new water heater because he thought our gas valve was no longer working. I asked him why he thought that and he gave an explanation that included he couldn’t get a pilot light at all so there was nothing else to do but replace the unit. Our HVAC technician (Gilbert enterprises) happened to be in the house working on something else and got the pilot lit without a fuss. I don’t see how a trained plumber could have not gotten the pilot lit. When we need a new hot water tank in the future we will not be using Magnolia.

I had a bad experience with A/C service with Magnolia. First of all, an A/C estimate costs over $200 and they don't apply that fee to your service if you get the work done. The technician came out for an assessment/estimate and said that we only needed to replace the outside unit, that the office would follow up with a quote, and the price would be about $5000. The office followed up saying we needed to replace the entire system and padded the quote extras like a new thermostat. I'm not sure why I cannot use my brand new Nest thermostat. When we asked for an explanation on why the office quote is so different from what the technician said needed to be done we did not receive a reply. The final quote Magnolia gave us was close to $8000 for a small row house. I got my service elsewhere for less than $3000. I now have a brand new unit with a 10 year warranty.
EDIT: To the owner, you can't find my name because service was under my wife's name. My issue is now solved by another company so I won't message you to follow up.

Ontime, cost upfront disclosed after assessment post $75 service call. The price was a bit high but honest where the tech could have easily gone to the next level service charge but did everything a few times to free the obstruction from the toilet without having to remove the toilet to find the issue. I would use them again based on this experience.

Reggie came out today to give an estimate on work needed to properly cool/heat an attic addition. I can't say enough good things about Duane Cunningham and his crew. The entire ordeal of having break in my water service line -- while trying to move back into my house after an overseas tour --was stressful. Mr. Cunningham showed not only the utmost professionalism; he was also patient, courteous, and extremely considerate. He went above and beyond as I juggled a number of other contractors while making my residence make-ready. His professional advice and work ethic were exemplary. During the installation of the new line, we found that Magnolia would have to cut through membrane installed by another contractor for waterproofing. Mr. Cunningham was extremely considerate and patient as I contacted the water-proofing company to supervise/inspect Magnolia's pipe installation so that the warranty on the waterproofing could be maintained. If all of Magnolia's staff are as great as Mr. Cunningham, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company. Thanks Duane for all your hard work and assistance during this extremely trying period.

My AC gave out early this morning. I called Magnolia and they quickly dispatched Carlos to my apartment. Carlos was fantastic and in about 2 hours I was back up and running. He checked the entire system thoroughly and replaced a few other parts as well. Magnolia is the best and Carlos was fantastic. My furnace was not working and I had tried to fix it myself, to no avail. Through my neighborhood app, NextDoor, I saw several recommendations for Magnolia so I looked them up on the internet. I was able to have an on-line chat with a service rep (Jason I think), and he understood my situation and helped me get service scheduled, within the hour! I thought it would be at least another freezing night in my house. Saeid (and Jose) were the service reps and they were able to get everything working within 30 minutes, and they stayed to make sure the heat worked everywhere. Everyone I worked with was friendly, trustworthy, and made me feel comfortable with the work that was done.

After getting a questionable quote from Len the Plumber ($2300 and 5 days of work) and an incredibly rude plumber I called Magnolia for a second opinion.

That same day a technician was at our house and fixed the problem in about 2 hours for $820. Pricey yes, but compared to the first service it was awesome.

I have used Magnolia three times now - for recaulking in my shower to fix a leak, replacement of my garbage disposal, and replacement of my shower fixtures. I have always been incredibly impressed by the professionalism and timeliness of the service professionals, as well as the high quality work that they do. Most recently Felix worked on my shower fixtures, and in addition to doing a great job he was also just a very friendly and helpful person willing to answer all of my questions. With temps rising and house not cooling, we called Magnolia. We made an appointment for 2 days hence, but they called back to say the tech could come that day. Discovered that we had a leak and also needed a circuit board in a compressor. William(tech) gave us 2 or 3 choices for the repairs, which included finding the leak, and we decided on the long term, higher priced solution. He arranged to get the parts and returned the Friday afternoon of Memorial Day weekend to install the board and find the leak (2 days from the initial visit). All the work was completed by Friday evening including installation of a new coil, that took an additional 2 hours to get. Worked with Carlos R. at Magnolia. He was extremely thorough, professional and knowledgeable. Best tech I've had work on my AC unit. He basically rebuilt it in several hours. Most importantly, he told me every step of the way what he was doing, how much it was going to cost and indulged my stupid questions. If you need help, call magnolia and ask for Carlos to come out.

I called them because they are in my neighborhood and I want to support them but they are very expensive and they charged me $1250, to unclog the line and charged $75 dispatch fee.
$400 to take the toilet out and put it back.

Had an emergency with a water line leak. Of course, it was around 9:00 at night. Had to shut off the water. Called and asked if someone would at least call me and let us know if they couldn't come out at night, just to give me a call and the morning would be fine. The woman I had spoken with said, someone would call me. Heard nothing at all over an hour. Got somebody else and he came from Severn that night and had taken care of the problem. Called Magnolia back to cancel since I didn't hear from anybody. Was told not a problem. Next morning I received a call from Magnolia and was told the technician would be out by noon. Go figure!!!! I think they are a reputable company, but that night, very poor communication.

Whatever you do, avoid Magnolia at all costs. Hands down one of the worst companies I've ever worked with.

We hired Magnolia this summer to replace our HVAC mini split system and signed a contract for what was supposed to be a three-day job. Five weeks later, and the work was finally completed though the systems they installed were not what we were originally told and we had countless issues along the way.

First, the brand new unit they installed on our second floor malfunctioned on day one and had to be replaced. The brand new unit they installed on our third floor started leaking almost immediately. Magnolia came back to repair it and it started leaking again the same day. We now have a permanent water stain on our wall from the water damage. When we expressed concerns about the units, the technicians both told us they were not familiar with the brand they'd chosen for us, and weren't sure how to address the problems.

The units did not come with a thermostat, which I would imagine is a fairly standard ask for an HVAC system. The technicians repeatedly promised us a thermostat but then when pushed on this said they weren't knowledgeable enough about the brand to find a thermostat that was compatible. Weeks later, they told us the system they installed doesn't actually have a temperature reader to be able to gauge the actual temperature in the space. Ultimately, they installed something that they called a thermostat but it only shows the temp at which the unit is set, not the actual temperature in the space.

Magnolia failed to communicate with the third party drywall repair vendor they hired to replace the drywall. He showed up not knowing what he was supposed to fix, and without the appropriate supplies to repair the drywall due to Magnolia's lack of guidance. He ultimately had to come back to our house three separate times -- one time arriving after 9pm.

They were also sloppy all along the way. They had to move our washer and dryer to access the HVAC system. When they reinstalled it, they did not connect the water line for the washing machine, and it leaked all over our second floor. When they reinstalled the dryer, they didn't reconnect it, so we had to move the 200+ lb dryer ourselves to do so. They then moved it again to fix yet another malfunction with the unit. Recently, we were having issues with our dryer and hired a technician to look at it. Apparently, Magnolia never reconnected the dryer duct, so the lint and dust from the dryer has been building up behind our unit for months. This cost a lot of money to address and clean out.

In addition to all of this, Magnolia was terrible at communicating. Several times, we were told someone would be arriving the following day only to have no one show up. Our primary point of contact went on vacation halfway through the project without notifying us or giving us an alternate point of contact, leaving us in radio silence for several days. The technicians were repeatedly rude to us, and dismissive of our concerns.

Even months after this awful experience, we're still having issues with our systems. Magnolia is terrible to work with - avoid!

The technician Reggie came out to my house just after our scheduled appointment window, but both he and a rep Yionice called me to keep me updated on our appointment time. Reggie was nice to my senior dog and respectful of my home. He gave me the bad news that my furnace needs to be replaced, but he showed me exactly where the issue was and he was very knowledgeable.

Take the time to read this review. Before you make the mistake we did when picking this company. by far Magnolia company is one of the worst companies to deal with even their management team composed of Ebony and some other Lady. My mom purchased a new furnace less than 2 yrs ago. And is already not working . We had to pay someone to come out and do a diagnostics on it. and to find out the unit has a faulty piece and needed to replace mind you this is a new unit. it was more than a week that the home was without heat.My mom is an elderly woman and there are small children that live in this home. Magnolia shows no concern and have not bothered to return any of my calls or emails. They did not even offer to give us temporary heaters while the furnace is being repaired. It is very sad and they are so IRRESPONSIBLE.!!

It was kind of a last resort because we didnt want to spend so much money, but it ended up being not as much as we expected, and definetly worth it do too the amount of advice we recieved. We got the parts switched, but it was evident Carlos R. wanted our problems to be fixed not just to charge us for every little thing. He was calling to make sure if it was still working, offering advice on what we could do once he was gone, and had open communication lines throughout it all. Really made it a worth it experience and a manageable one. Would call again.

This is an email I sent to Magnolia (via their website) a month ago. There has been no reply:
I write to ask you for clarification regarding your pricing. On April 13 Felix came to our house to repair a leaky faucet. It was old and needed replacing. The cost quoted (and paid) was $606. I subsequently found out that the retail cost of the faucet was approximately $200. It took Felix about 30 minutes to complete the job. That means the labor was in excess of $800 an hour. Is that your standard rate? Is that fair? In addition, we have an annual maintenance contract with you. What exactly does that do for us? On the same call, I told Felix I needed to replace the faucet and water filtration system in our kitchen. His quote was $1,999. He sent me specs with the costs on them. The total materials cost was $739.20. That means the labor equals $1,259.80. How do you calculate that? Please let me know the breakdown. Thank you. Sydney Brooks

I just had a serious plumbing issue at one of my rental properties. A condo with gas water heater that is tied into the Heat and AC. No small job as I went through one independent plumber and two larger plumbing companies before getting to Duane Cunningham and Magnolia Plumbing. I want mention the other companies by name but their service was awful. Duane Cunningham and his entire support team at Magnolia Plumbing were so professional it was like night and day. His support persons, Monique and Tynisha, scheduled the initial appointment without any drama, just really nice and professional. Duane showed up when he was scheduled and assessed the entire situation and wrote an appropriate estimate. I compared his estimate with two others I had received. He was in the middle on price but he was knowledgeable and explained all of the details. Please understand I own and have renovated several properties and I know a lot about plumbing---this special system costs over $4,000 to replace; it's not a run to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy a $600 water heater and go slap it in. This job required a County Work Permit. But at the end of the day, I have nothing but praise for a job well done. Completed exactly on schedule and about $150 less than estimated. These are 3 very important points and I am grateful. I will not hesitate to call Magnolia Plumbing in the future and ask for Duane Cunningham when I do. And again, kudos to Monique and Tynisha for their great front office support.

Super job! Highly professional and attentive to detail. I have an older condo convector heating/air conditioner that was leaking and with a noisy motor. The Magnolia personnel quickly accessed the source and walked me through their thinking before committing to a solution. They managed to fix the leak and silence the motor—and offered to quote on an eventual replacement motor. No hard sell or pressure for maintenance plan etc. Work and parts guaranteed for a year.

I had an emergency, the shower in our rental property was leaking on the first day of the lease! Called a few places, Magnolia was the only one that guaranteed service on the same day at no extra cost. The technician recommended to do a diagnostic test to see where the leak was coming from. It could have been the shower head, shower plumbing, shower floor, walls, pan etc. It wasn't a cheap test but for $430.00 the technician immediately recognized the problem. The leak was coming from the shower pan, something that would have been almost impossible to detect without the diagnostic test. I ended up hiring a dry wall contractor and paying $3100 for a crew of two to repair the damages cause by the leak but if it were not for prompt and excellent service, it could have destroyed a lot more that it did. Technician Marvin Chaney, was a straight shooter and extremely knowledgeable.

We needed a faucet replaced and new one installed and also 2 drains unclogged. The 2 technicians, Aiden V. and his Apprentice inspected everything first, also inspected our other major plumbing items and then provided an estimate. They were both friendly, professional, thorough and most of all, honest. All work was performed efficiently and thoroughly and each task was reviewed with me after completion. This is the way all companies should work. This was an exceptional experience and I would use them again for any plumbing item. Carlos R w/ Magnolia Heating & Cooling came to my home yesterday to assess issues with my Combo Heating-Cooling System's delivery of central air conditioning. He quickly inspected both the internal and external equipment, and let me know that he was confident he could identify & resolve the issues. He did so soon thereafter.
He wrote up the work required, gave me a thorough description of each task/equipment item involved, and provided me the cost estimate.

Given his outstanding customer service & technical skills, I felt comfortable authorizing the work and making the deposit.

He said he couldn't guarantee exactly when he would return the next day to complete the work, but said he would work to get it on the schedule quickly.
He eventually told me that a 12-2pm next day window was what scheduling allowed for at that time.

I was pleasantly surprised when he called to let me know that he would be able to arrive closer to 10am with all equipment needed to complete the work.

Around 12 noon, my wife and 13 yr old son felt the cooled air flowing in the house and shouted out in joy!

Carlos wrapped up the job as professionally and thoroughly as he started it.
Because of Carlos, I signed up for Magnolia's annual heating & cooling maintenance plan, and we hope we are fortunate enough to have him be the technician each time we are serviced.

When scheduling an appointment I asked for an estimate for a disposal install and was told it was impossible to get a quote until a service technician was on site. I told them I already had the part and it was a straight install but was still told I couldn't get a quote before the technician came out to review the issue. When the technician arrived they immediately said it would cost $400 without even looking at the disposal. I'm sure they do this because they don't want people to shop around, but i think it's an unfair business practice. Install itself took less than 30 minutes and the tech was very professional. $400 for 30 minutes of work is a tough pill to swallow.

My technician Carlos from Magnolia Plumbing, heating and AC always does a great job taking care of my Lennox gas furnace and AC system. He always explains to me what he doing and how to keep everything running good. It’s always nice to have the same tech do the spring and fall maintence that knows all the quirks about your heat and ac systems. He is very professional and also a nice man. I can't praise Magnolia Plumbing Heating and Cooling enough! We needed a gas line leak replaced so we got 5 estimates. Magnolia's quote was 70% less expensive than the others! The technician, Nelson, was the only one that informed us about a much less costly option ($760) than what the others proposed, which were all over $3000! The others were going to bust up my patio flooring and replace an entire segment of the pipes, leaving me with the cost to replace all the flooring. They claimed that Washington Gas would not pass the inspection if they didn't replace the entire line. Magnolia replaced only the portion that was leaking and did not have to dig up my flooring.

The technician was super friendly and easy to talk to, but also very professional. He was not only able to answer all my questions but also provided in-depth explanations and kept me informed of everything he was going to do in advance.

In addition to the technician being awesome, my experience communicating with everyone at the company was also great! They sent me texts and called me to keep me well informed of when the technician would be coming.

I highly recommend Magnolia and will be using them for all my future needs!

I don't write a lot of negative reviews because I understand the impact a negative review would have on a locally owned business. My recent terrible experience with Magnolia has prompted me to write about this company. I have given them ample opportunity to rectify this issue and they haven't come to an agreeable solution. I have lodged a formal complaint with the better business bureau.

I have had my HVAC unit and heater replaced by Magnolia.

Given the last few positive experiences 2 weeks ago during my kitchen remodel my countertop installer noticed a leak at the hot water valve under the sink. My first response and phone call was to Magnolia who promptly sent someone over. Since my girlfriend was at home and we had no idea how much valves cost. we decided to follow Dwayne's recommendation to replace 1 two way valve for hot water which was the cause of the leak and the second cold water valve because it was 10 years old and may have a leak in the future.

I was surprised at the 400$ cost of the hot water valve and 100 for the cold water valve. Since we had no idea we agreed to 500$ to replace 2 valves only.

Dwayne then proceeded to add 287$ for difficulty. To replace 2 valves ???? In addition they proceeded to also charge the 75$ fee to come out to the condo. So finally I spent 848$ to replace 2 valves WITHOUT reconnection of the sink or dishwasher.

Since I did not think 2 valves would cost 850$ I decided to call customer service and speak with Felix. According to Felix the reason why a 20$ valve would cost 400$ is to pay for the overhead, gas, electricity, employees and keep the business profitable.

The total cost according to Magnolia

1/4 Turn Angle Stop (Sweat) with 2 opening for hot water and dishwasher (400$) and 1/4 turn angle for cold water (100$) And 75$ fee to come out to the job site. Along with 287$ for difficulty??.

All of this WITHOUT reconnection of the sink or dishwasher.

My valves cost 848$ which is almost the price of a new dishwasher.

I don't think this should cost more than 200-300$

UPDATE 10/31/2017
So after my review I was contacted by Justin. I must confess I did not have any expectation that they would try and resolve the situation. Justin was great and after speaking with him a couple of times, we were able to reach a reasonable solution.
So in the end I paid about 400$ for 2 valves to be replaced. While not the cheapest I am happy that is is somewhat of a reasonable price.
The quality of their work has always been reliable.
Pricing was not the best but eventually they figured it out.

I chose Magnolia because it seemed cheaper than the other known HVAC companies, and it may still be. However, it doesn't make it right to charge you $350 for cleaning coils if you can buy the kit for $10 and do it yourself. They should not charge another $350 for replacing a part that cost $10-15 and all it takes is 5-10 minutes. Have to be desperate, lazy, or incapable of using a screwdriver to use their services again.

Another OUTSTANDING service experience from Magnolia Plumbing! I had maintenance performed on my boiler today. Reggie D. arrived well within the two hour window and was extremely courteous and thorough. Not only did he explain what he did, he also talked me through every component of the boiler and its function. He also, at my request, adjusted the settings on my water heater and gave an equally detailed water heater education. I greatly appreciated Reggie D's caring competent service. He's a true professional.

Magnolia has done lots of work for me in my 10+ year old condo, plumbing as well as heating and cooling. They are always reliable, pleasant, efficient, and competent. Russ was here on Saturday to fix my hot water heater. I was prepared to do without hot water at least for the weekend, but he volunteered, and he got the job done. I will continue to call on them.

I experienced low water pressure and low flow within my house. I assumed that there may be a leak in my plumbing because I observed the leak detector on my water meter slowing turning. I decided to contact a plumbing company to investigate.

Researching several plumbing companies online websites, I came across Magnolia Plumbing, Heating & Cooling. On Magnolia's website, Magnolia stated that they use only the latest techniques and equipment when it comes to detecting water leaks in your home. While sometimes it is possible to deduce the location, particularly when it’s rather obvious, detecting leaks that are behind walls and floors requires specialized tools. When you call Magnolia Plumbing, Heating & Cooling for leak detection you can be confident in the results. We will find the source of the leak and then recommend a solution that will button up the issue in no time at all.

A Magnolia technician came out the same day. After I explained to the technician what was going on, he began to investigate. His investigative techniques consisted of dropping dye pellets in my toilets. After several minutes past, he determined that the toilets were not leaking.

The technician then said he was finished and I will take your $75 check. I was floored and couldn't believe that this is what I get for $75. Before he did the dye pill test, I told him that I already did that but he wanted to do it for himself.

What happened to the latest techniques that Magnolia stated on the website??? I didn't know that the latest techniques consist of dye pills. I still have the same problem and the dye pills proved to be useless.

I would not recommend Magnolia Plumping to anyone I know.

Just called and asked Magnolia representative for a quote for snaking our lateral sewage leading to the main using a 900 snake. Magnolia representative refused to give me a quote for snaking the sewage, and only agreed to provide a quote for a visit by a plumber. Regardless the fact that Magnolia plumber quote was the most expensive one for a plumber visit, I won't be fooled to pay first for a visit without knowing how pricey your service is going to be at the end. This is a very poor service. All the other plumbing companies I called did provide me with a quote for the sewage snaking service. I would recommend NOT using this company.

I have to express my grattitude for Russ Knight and his helper Angel.
They have helped to resolve my AC issue while I have been away. Russ came out to do the assessment, kept me informed on the arrival time, while at the site walked me through the issue over the phone and gave me solution options. Performed all the necessary test and saved me from having to buy a new AC unit, there turned out to be a leak in the refrigiran pipe. Angela and Russ were able to fix it. Overall it was so easy to work with and communicate with him and I did not have slightest doubt in their professionalism. I trust him and would reach out to him no doubt again. Would recommend to my friends or anyone that has to go through the anxiety of finding the right AC professsional. Thank you Russ and Angel

I was incredibly disappointed with Magnolia. I had them come and give me an estimate for adding a shut off valve to a gas pipe. Their estimate was $840. Another plumber estimated $300. I am left with the conclusion that Magnolia never wanted to do the work in my home, they simply wanted to pocked a quick $75 fee for taking a look at a pipe.

Edit post reply: These guys are all over online reviews. Received replies and calls from them. They were in my house a grand total of 5 minutes. Maybe they could spend more time being competitive in the marketplace instead of extremely online.

Nice guy, but Darrell verbally quoted me $15,000 just to do rough-in drains for a small basement bathroom. I thought I misheard him. No proper estimate or cost breakdown... Just came up with a number that your competitors have quoted for doing the entire bathroom. I'm happy to pay a fair price... but $15k for rough-ins is a non-starter. Magnolia was clearly not interested in the job. Bigger fish elsewhere?

I found the Service Pro (Duane) assigned to me to be very professional; he thoroughly explained the situation, presented me with the options, and forewarned me of the worst case scenario. Well, the worst case scenario did occur, but I was prepared due to how it was presented... so there were no surprises which I greatly appreciated. My Service Pro also checked for other plumbing issues, explained that I shouldn't use liquid sink clogs and was pretty much very educational. After the job was done, they cleaned up afterwards and offered to come back to push an appliance in its spot. I gained a great deal of knowledge from his visit as well as his apprentice.
I hope that I ever run into another problem, Duane is assigned to my home. While his visit ended up costing me more than I anticipated, I appreciated what he did nonetheless.

We worked with Magnolia for years at an address in Bethesda, but have recently moved into a new Condo in DC and have not needed any service.

Recently, our AC went out (10pm on a Friday night). They had someone to us first thing Saturday morning who was polite, efficient, careful to explain the various problems to us, gave us the estimate before doing the work, and then did the work promptly. We couldn't have been happier.

I would not recommend this company. We called to have them fix a malfunctioning AC unit, and they sent a technician. Despite charging $109 to do an assessment, the technician did not provide a breakdown of what needed to be done or, more importantly, how much it would cost to complete the work until AFTER he had already completed the job. In my experiences with other companies, they complete an assessment and then provide a quote before doing the actual work. That didn't happen. After draining a clogged pipe and installing a flood detector, the technician told me that it would be $750 for everything. I assumed I would receive an invoice--again an assumption I made from my dealings with similar companies and life in general--but before I had a chance to review the cost breakdown, they charged my credit card that I had provided when scheduling the service. The technician also left a solid half-inch of water at the base of the unit and told me that it would evaporate over time, despite being in a closed, dark closet.

I called immediately the day after the service and was told I would receive a call back the next day. Fast forward to three days later and I had still not received a call back, so I went ahead and called again. The first time I got through and explained the situation, only to be hung up on by the person I was talking to. After a few minutes and no attempt to call me back, I called a third time. The same person eventually picked up, but was combative and repeatedly interrupted me while I tried to explain my concerns. She ultimately told me there was nothing she could do for me, and that they charged what they charged because they had to stay in business. After finally receiving an invoice, I compared the flood detector they installed with prices online, only to discover that they charged me about 6 times the amount for the exact same part had I bought it anywhere else.

I understand that this is DC and everything is more expensive, but to charge $750 for an hour of work to drain a pipe and replace a small external part seems excessive. That said, the AC unit is working fine. If you're willing to pay an exorbitant amount for basic service and terrible customer relations, this may be the place for you!

Nelson fixed our shower temperature control mechanism in a timely and very professional manner. My wife and I are very pleased with his work. It was clear from the moment he arrived that Nelson knew what the problem was that prevented our shower from getting up to temperature, ordered the correct service replacement part, and installed it in a manner that fully corrected the problem. Next time we have a plumbing issue, we are going to call Magnolia and ask for Nelson's services once again.

Carlos R. from Magnolia Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling came out to fix my mini-split system which had stopped working. He was very thorough and made he that he had addressed all issues before leaving. He even took the time to review the system to see that all fluids were topped off and that it was running fine, when he got it to working properly. Another positive experience with Magnolia as well. We've used them for 4 years now and are very pleased.

Yesterday I called Magnolia and scheduled an appt for a quote to replace my upstairs hvac system that stopped working 3 weeks ago but since I was diagnosed with covid that very same week, I just started to get quotes now that I felt it was safe for people to come to my home. Magnolia offered me today 2-4 which I accepted. This morning at 7:15am a rep called me and asked if I wanted an earlier appt because they had some cancelations. They offered 8am-10am (which I declined) along with a few more time slots. I did move from my original time of 2-4 to 1-3. At 9:30am Sam Jr contacted me via text and said he was the comfort specialist coming to my home and he asked if he could come in the next 40 minutes. I responded No since I was tied up working. I texted if he could send a quote looking at the quotes I got from other companies this week. He said not without a visit. That's understandable. I then went back to work. At 12:55pm, I view my phone to see if Sam Jr. sent an eta. Instead I see a text from him at 10:12am that read Did you want us to make a site visit or cancel the visit? I responded and stated that yes I was expecting him as scheduled, 1-3. He then texted and said he is now in Rockville and asked if I wanted to pick a time next week. WAIT! What?! At the end of the day, I scheduled 1-3 per the scheduling people at Magnolia. Just because Sam Jr. requested to come 3 hours earlier, DOES NOT CANCEL MY 1-3 APPT TIME. Sam Jr and Magnolia stood me up, and collectively lost my business and possibly even more revenue from other would-be customers who read this review.

Carlos was very responsive, professional, and thorough in fixing our broken furnace. I appreciate the call ahead to inform me he was coming. He arrived within the window of time that was promised. He quickly assessed what the problem was and order the part. He was able to get the furnace temporarily working, which was important as it was sub freezing temperatures. He came back and had the new part installed within just a few minutes to finish the permanent fix. Thanks Carlos!

Carlos came by today on a holiday weekend and was completely awesome. He fixed our 30 year old AC system in a short amount of time and left the area 100% clean. Now we aren’t melting. We most certainly need our entire system replaced soon and we will undoubtedly request that Carlos does the replacement for us in the next few months. 10/10 would recommend!

Magnolia is full service, including air conditioning, heating, plumbing and subcontracting for flues and chimney lining. I had a very old gas water heater and they replaced it within 2 days from doing an audit and even when I requested a switch to electric from gas at the last minute it was no problem. Pasquale is a professional and took care of every aspect, replaced leaking pipes, brought my gas boiler flue up to code and installed a high grade water heater; their pricing is very competitive.

I would highly recommend that anyone looking at this company look elsewhere. If I could give less stars I would.

I had a combo hot water heater and boiler unit that had failed and started getting quotes for replacement on 2/27. I was looking to get a few quotes and act as quickly as possible. They said they could send someone out quickly and suggested a potentially finding a temporary repair while lining up a replacement plan. That was fine, but they weren't upfront about their fee of $109 to assess the system which I paid since I wanted things to move quickly. The technician named Tan Cao took one look at the unit and said it had to be replaced. I knew that, but he didn't even take the time to take off the front cover and make an assessment until I prompted him to do so. What am I paying this guy for? After an assessment inconsistent with 3 other companies looking at it, i asked for a quote on repair and replacement asap. He said he would do that and began to make his way out with parts and pieces of my heater scattered all over the vicinity. I asked if he could return things to the way he found them. He didn't want to do that until I insisted. Extremely sloppy, unprofessional and lazy work.

Magnolia then had a sales person named Jay Rosengarden come out to talk about replacing it. Jay knew absolutely nothing about HVAC and couldn't give me the quotes or timeline necessary. I have no idea why Magnolia event sent him. It was a complete waste of limited time I had given the issues. He called another person on the phone who he exclusively referred to as Uncle Matt. Weird, but ok. Matt knew a little more about the issues, but still had no quote. After Jay left, I followed up multiple times asking for a quote. Eventually he texted me for an email address for the quote but called me Andrew which is not my name. I followed up a few more times after not receiving a quote I gave up and eventually went with another company.

A few days later, I get a call from Ryan who askes me what I have decided about the repair. I replied that no one had ever sent me a quote and told her my experience and told her I went with another company. While she was kind and apologetic she didn't have solutions. She did ask what the company could do to earn my business in the future, and I responded with at minimum they could refund the $109 fee I was charged. She said they would happily do that. Needless to say, I didn't receive this refund.

I received another call about a week later from her asking the same question as before. I once again reminded her we had talked and she was supposed to have processed a refund. She said she would follow up on that.

She followed up today and asked again what I had decided to do about the repair...completely unaware of the first two conversations. I reminded her once again of these conversations and asked her to follow up again about a refund as they never completed any actual service. She said we get busy this time of year and can't serve everyone due to the work. I then asked if they didn't have the intention of delivering after taking my money, why would they have come and looked at it in the first place. She didn't have an answer other then sorry.

Best of all, she called me back a few hours later saying that their HVAC supervisor denied my refund after she had said she would take care of the refund on other occasions.

This is probably one of the most frustrating and annoying experiences I've ever had with a contractor. They are inexperienced, unprofessional, disorganized, will take your money and not deliver a service that's they offered to.

Do not use this company. They're the worst out there. Find someone...anyone else and you'll be better off.

After posting this review, I received a call from Sam who says he is the Sales Supervisor. He apologized over and over and did offer to personally take care of the refund by noon the next day which he did deliver on. He promised to continue an internal investigation into this to improve.

Many service techs are good at their jobs, but sometimes come up short in communication skills. The service techs there are consistently professional, empathic, and good listeners.

My recent experience with Josh, who came to look at my split-system air conditioners is an example of great customer understanding.

Josh took the time to listen to my concerns and then give me some great options. He gave a professional diagnosis of the issue and followed up quickly with a personal call. Twice!

Yes, Magnolia is expensive that’s why they get four stars instead of five, but you certainly get your monies’ worth!

I've been very pleased with the Magnolia team's commitment to quality service and customer care. I called on a Friday morning for a routine inspection of my heating system and Carlos R. arrived later that afternoon. He diagnosed the issues and explained them very clearly. He gave me an estimate for repair and presented options. He arranged with the dispatcher so that he could make the repairs the following Monday. He arrived on time with all the parts in hand that he needed to order. During the repair work, he discovered that the galvanized pipe to the heating system was completely blocked, and arranged for a Magnolia plumber to come in. Jermaine arrived and followed the same procedures as Carlos did to diagnose the issue and quote a separate price and time estimate. By the end of the evening, I had a fully functioning heating system, at a pre-agreed price. I feel that Magnolia has worked hard to build a culture based on customer satisfaction. For me, this investment will pay off because Magnolia will always be the first company I call when I have heating, cooling or plumbing concerns.

He replaced the section that was damaged and explained drain maintenance procedures we could do ourselves. He was professional and pleasant to have around. Edited: I was thrilled by the fast response on our initial service call. After spending nearly $1000, our unit stopped working the following day. Saeid returned and tried to troubleshoot but was unsuccessful and had to remove and reposition our thermostat as a “quick fix.” Had a third appointment scheduled for today - after a call that the tech was on the way, another call that our appointment was canceled. Absolutely frustrated.
Original review: Broken heating unit on the coldest day of the year... submitted a service call request online after business hours and received a call back within an hour that evening to set up an appointment for the next morning. Magnolia’s tech, Saeid, got us up and running. He had the required parts in stock, explained what the issue was, and was just friendly, professional, and knowledgeable.

Carlos R. was very detailed and thorough in his inspection. Although he came across a couple of concerns, Carlos decided to conduct the inspection without causing alarm to me and instead gave the summary evaluation at the end of the inspection, which is very professional. All through the inspection, he was giving me pointers to save money and keep the HVAC running at its best for a long time. He also made sure to put on footies over his shoes, a hallmark sign of a company that is mindful that their work takes them into the private residences and want to keep them clean! Highly recommend!

After a very quick response from your dispatcher, Jim Blue of Magnolia responded quickly to our water leak emergency and replaced an old damaged pipe in our water supply system as well as a central heating water valve. He was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and professional. He did an excellent job at low cost and also helped correct some other minor plumbing issues around the house at no cost. Magnolia is a great company. I have used them for many years and will continue to do so.

I had a leak coming from my shower down through the kitchen ceiling. Mario came by and ran different tests to isolate where the leak was exactly coming from. It was a slow process of elimination but I never felt like he was rushed but rather took the necessary time to diagnose the problem and found it. Magnolia is definitely expensive but you get what you pay for, they are very professional.

Scheduling team is rude and inept.
They don’t know how to use their scheduling system. Somehow my original appointment was not made don I was sitting waiting at home for nothing.
Then they either lied or falsified information saying I had already received the service.
Then they told me that I didn’t answer when the technician called on that previous date (I have no record of a missed call...) and that I was told to call on a particular day between 12&2 to reschedule. What?!

I was told that they would send someone the same day but that was another no show.
The service person never called even after the scheduling team said that they would have the tech call us right back regarding his expected arrival time.

Humberto and his team were fantastic! They assessed and correctly pinpointed the issue and required fix (where another plumbing company had said the problem would require a lot more work than was actually necessary). They finished quickly and couldn’t have been nicer, even looking into finding a new kitchen faucet to replace my leaking one, completely unrelated to the original issue. Highly recommend!

DO NOT USE. First, Canceled on me after the window started. Said fine, come the next day.

Once there, pushed more service before figuring out part wasn’t needed. Fine, maybe an innocent mistake.

Then when the work started it required cutting a small hole in the wall to access the pipe. They did not measure – but just started cutting holes in the wall. Cut three holes before I came down and measured (pipe was coming out other side of the wall so CLEARLY apparent where it could be found) and pointed to the spot where it was obviously located. Sure enough, there it is.

Plumber apparently had no plan, and made no effort to try and figure out anything that would not damage my house. In the end didn’t care - no credit no benefit or discount- didn’t even clean up all the dust he caused by cutting three extra holes in the drywall ceiling.

the phone customer service was good. my technician Darrell was very good at his craft and the work was completed satisfactorily. However, my repair took much longer because, even though I described what needed to be done, the parts were not on the truck so he had to return to the supply center to get them which added an extra hour to the work. Also, the estimate I was given at the beginning of the work, was about $120 lower than the final price and his reasons for why it were baffling. I had to get to work and really did not have to time to haggle the price. So I paid it and though the work was good, I likely will go elsewhere in the future for my plumbing work since I cannot trust the way very basic work is estimated and finally charged. It would have been nice to see it on paper first but everything was done on a touch pad and obviously who knows how all that works. Price wise the whole experience was very loose. Watch out for the ridiculous markups on parts!!!!

I didn't care about the diagnostic fee, until I figured out the 6.3x mark up on the thermostat, described as a very nice new honeywell programmable thermostat, $412 installed (Otherwise known as a late model clearance unit for $65 on amazon).

Never again Magnolia, never again. How do you ever get repeat business????

Magnolia Plumbing Heating and Cooling, I commend you for hiring Duane Cunningham. He was on time, very polite, honest with his assessment, extremely careful when entering and leaving the house, wore a mask and foot covers throughout the entire repair. Duane and his partner repaired a broken stack in my house. They were extremely efficient. Located the crack, explained how the repair would look, provided me a price before beginning the work, made the repair, conducted several test after the repair, found a second leak, repaired the second leak, went over the pricing with me in detail and left my house spotless. Our HVAC system was bothering us and a previous company had pushed a costly recommendation. So we sought a second opinion and called Magnolia. Based on the previous reviews on a number of sites we decided to go with this local company. Our call back was prompt and the dispatch operator helped us secure a timely appointment.

The service technician was Troy H and we were very impressed with his professionalism and down to earth helpful advise on how to maintain our HVAC system. The actual problem was treatable with a simple adaptation that didn't cost us any more than the call our fee. Most importantly Troy provided us with an assessment of the system and our thermostat (both clean bill of health) and more in keeping with our 4 year old HVAC system.

We will now use Magnolia for all our plumbing/HVAC needs and recommend them to others.

Back in November the company installed a brand new HVAC and tankless water heater into my home. During the install the crew seemed to be knowledgeable however they did drill several holes into my brand new floors while trying to locate vent placement. Although they did repair those boards it did seem like this mistake was due to inexperience.
Fast forward 6 months and i had to call them back due to my system leaking. I called their dispatch line twice (spanning almost two weeks) before actually getting a call back. I finally got someone to look at the system and they determined it was a filter issue. So i followed instructions (turned off system for a few hours and replaced filter) but the system continued to leak. I called back the next day and once again didn’t hear anything until i called back at 9pm to inquire about getting something scheduled. The dispatcher scheduled me for 6-8 the next day. The next day I called the company back at 7am to verify my service window and they proceeded to tell me that i was not suppose to be seen until 2-4pm. I left work early and came home at 2. At 310 I called to confirm that no delays were occurring and that someone would be here by 4. They confirmed no delays and i would receive a call 30mins prior to arrival. I heard nothing and called the company back at 430pm. They told me my technician went home sick and i would have someone else come by 6pm. At 615pm i heard nothing from anyone. I called the company and they took my message to give to dispatch. The technician called at 630 to tell me he would be here around 730pm.
This kind of service is ridiculous. I completely understand that things happen, people get sick, jobs take longer than expected however when issues like that occur phone calls should be made to customers who have been waiting for hours and taking time out of work to get things fixed especially an HVAC system that magnolia plumbing installed. If the company is going to promise things like 24hour service than they should actually provided it. I will not be recommending this company to others not because of the work their technicians provided but for their lack of proper customer service and timeliness.

Duane was awesome. The services were expensive but it was an emergency. Duane explained well everything they were doing and worked very quickly. I've used Magnolia Plumbing for my bi-yearly maintenance for about three years now on my HVAC systems at my old condo and now at my new one, and the service pros are always professional, well-knowledged and provide really great service. I recently had an issue with my water heater and Reggie D, my service pro, went beyond my service contract and the call of duty. He took a look at my water heater to make sure it was functioning properly and even called the manufacturer to verify the heating capacity and specs. He also gave some really good advice on maintaining my water heater and HVAC system. I will definitely keep using them and recommending them to my friends.

Magnolia Plumbing's Saied F was terrific. He beat me to the site by about 3 minutes, was very pleasant, diligent, and thorough. I needed a good plumber to check for a possible gas leak as reported by a tenant. None was found after a thorough and deliberate investigation, and it was concluded that the drain in the utility room floor was most likely the source of the smell. I almost didn't give that 5th star because Saied used the old-school bubbling leak solution approach as he didn't have a gas sensor on hand. Having said that, I'm satisfied for now with the diagnosis because Said's extra effort made up for the lack of a sensor.

I called stating that my kitchen sink was leaking. I bought a replacement at Home Depot. They quickly assigned a plumber & quoted me a price of $75 + a little bit more. The next day I received a call that the plumber could not make it. It was rescheduled for noon the next day (today!). Ha! The plumber arrived 10 minutes to 2pm !!! Almost two hours late! I asked if he could replace the faucet-Yes was his answer. How much? He gave me a written estimate of $661 !!! I supplied the part & the charge was $661? Yes he said. For less than an hour's work? Yes he said. This appears to be a classic Bait & Switch swindle! I contacted the boss who spoke to him in private & refused to change the price. I asked him. to leave. Problems with Magnolia-1)Late without telling me when they would arrive. 2)Classic overcharge! Consumers beware!!!!!

People should shop around and compare prices before just settling on one company. I had a Magnolia tech come out to check my boiler and their replacement price was almost twice of the competitors prices. The tech also kept pushing that I finance the unusually high estimate as if that somehow made a difference. I rate them two stars for checking the carbon monoxide level and knowing that the boiler needed replacing but their pricing is outrageous.

Over-promised, over-charged, and now harassing me to pay the balance of an invoice for work that was not completed by them. I hired Magnolia to finish installing a mini-split HVAC system that was started by another company, but that GC and I parted ways. Magnolia promised that they had a condenser in stock and convinced me to cancel an order with another company, while charging more for the same product. That promise was false and I still had to wait several weeks for delivery. Along the way towards waiting for installation, I had to remind them to come and run a control wire before I put walls up in the house, a time they could have spent to also trace line sets and the like and generally prepare for the work that would be more difficult when walls were put in. Once installation day finally came, their install team did some things okay, but they admitted that they had never installed this type of Mitsubishi system before and spent hours on the phone with Mitsubishi tech support. Those line sets I mentioned? Well, they didn't trace them and ended up wiring things incorrectly on a second day for a job that should have taken one day. I received some excuse from a manager that they would have to come back out with some sort of heat sensing thermal camera--of course at additional cost. Then they disappeared for months. I emailed and texted the install manager on when they would come back to finish, troubleshoot their mistakes, and install covers. Nothing. I ended up hiring a third company to fix the installation. That company knew what it was doing, traced the line sets using common sense instead of a thermal camera, fixed the wiring mistakes and got the system running in a few hours. Finally, I was happy, and thought all was okay since I had already paid Magnolia a significant sum. However, Magnolia's billing department surfaced like a greedy Jaws wannabe and tried to get me to pay for work they never finished (and was completed by that other company). Unbelievable. Do not be fooled by their shiny vans. This is a terrible company and they will fleece you given the chance. For the amount they charge for service, one would expect a much more professional and worry-free experience. Not so. Avoid them.

June 2018 I had ac issues called magnolia plumbing, Carlos Reed was the tech who came to my house for the repair issue. After Mr.Reed evaluated the situation with the ac, he explained to me that before he could do anything, there were wires that needed to be connected that were loose and the charge for the wire repair would be $400. Then I needed freon, $500, after Mr. Reed finished my bill was $1,100+ my ac ran for less than 30 days. Magnolia wanted me to pay them another service fee to come back and check the Repair they did after charging exorbitant amount to duct tape 2 wires that had nothing to do with repairing the ac unit and freon. The problem was the compressor, an experience HVAC tech would have found what the problem was!
It is so unfortunate that businesses are allowed to practice swendeling people out of money!
Do not use or recommend Magnolia Plumbing!

We had an issue with hot water pressure. Magnolia came out twice right before Thanksgiving. I was told the problem was fixed and pressure was restored. We paid $900. Upon arriving home that night, the water pressure issue was not remedied in the slightest. I reached customer service at Magnolia who were very apologetic and aimed to rectify the situation. Unfortunately, due to the holiday there was a delay in fixing the problem. Nelson Jovel showed up Tuesday morning. He worked quickly with the Magnolia team to identify a possible problem and fix the situation. Finally the problem was resolved! We greatly appreciated Nelson’s attention and communication. Magnolia did not make any additional charges either. Phew. Overall, we were a little frustrated the problem was not diagnosed and fixed properly the first time but appreciated Magnolia and Nelson’s prompt service to remedy the situation.

I previously had a 1year plumbing service plan which expired and I opted not to renew as I was already displeased with Magnolia. I decided to give Magnolia a final opportunity.

I called Magnolia plumbing on 09/28/2018. I had no hot water. The technician arrived at the first available appointment 4pm 09/30/2018. He charged $150 for a 1year service plan (which was fine as it would include the $75 call out charge and I would have a 1 year service plan). His diagnosed the need to (i) replace water relief valve, (ii) remove & replace expansion tank and quoted $631.94. However, the tech didn't have the part and said the office would reschedule another call out. I thought that was a tad sloppy. As I had gone 2-days without hot water, and had a guest staying, I called different company at 4pm 09/30. The tech came out same day and replaced the water relief valve, (the expansion tank did not need replacing) and he did a relight of the pilot on the furnace all for $440. This was the latest, and I decided the last, of a number of dissatisfactory experiences with Magnolia. I had previously used Magnolia to replace 2x HVAC and 2x water heaters in my properties for which I had paid close to $20k. So on 10/01/2018 I decided to cancel the 1year service contract which I paid $150 for. I was told I would be charged $75 call out fee (fair enough) and I would be refunded $75. After not receiving refund I called Magnolia twice during the week of 10/29-11/02 and both times the customer service rep informed me she was unable to locate the charge and someone else would contact me. I informed the rep that I had called and been told the same thing a few days earlier. She, effusively, reassured me during my call on 11/01 that she would call me herself if she doesn't receive a response from whoever was supposed to handle it. I still have not been contacted.

The truth is that the quality of service one gets from Magnolia is very much dependent on the person one interacts with. I have had very pleasant experiences with some technicians and sales representatives during my HVAC replacement). However, some of their technicians just seem to want to fleece clients. This is a shame.

I've seen the owner responds to reviews and hope he'll reach out.

My experience with Magnolia was abysmal. I called Magnolia on a Thursday asking them for the first available appointment because my air conditioner was dripping a lot of water every time it turned on. They said the first time available is that Sunday... fine, I get it’s the busy season. Sunday comes along and the technician’s equipment, a wet vac, isn’t working and says he will have to come back when it is working. He notes that the cause of the problem is likely the condensate line and that he will call to schedule the new appointment. Days go by and I don’t hear back from him or anyone at Magnolia so I called again. It is now Wednesday, 6 days since my first call. Miraculously, they say he can come that day! I stay home that day and wait for his call but it never comes. Late that evening I get a call from the tech saying he can’t come that day but he’ll be there Friday morning. He arrives on friday morning with his wet vac and nothing else and vacuums out the condensation pan and then asks for paper towels - I figure he’s cleaning up some of the splashed water that got on the walls and floor. Then he says something along the lines of “if the problem persists, we will need to rebuild the condensate line” and hands me his card reader to pay the bill. $189 dispatch fee and $235 for vacuuming out the pan. I was shocked. Had I known he was just going to vacuum out the pan for $235 and not actually fix the problem, I would have spent the $200 at Home Depot to buy my own wet vac. Unsurprisingly, the drip started back up within the day but was coming from a different spot now. I followed up directly with him and then with the dispatch team. I asked for them to apply the money I already paid to actually repairing it... a full week later and I still have not heard back. I’ve never felt like anyone has ever taken advantage of me so aggressively before. $424 is no small amount of money, especially considering the time I needed to put into this for negative results. Not to mention that when I hired a more competent company to clear the condensate line, they found the paper towels I handed the Magnolia tech shoved into the pan which caused the leak to move and damage even more drywall. I’m still waiting for my refund. Make this right, Magnolia.

Magnolia had Kenny H. come out and assist me this morning to replace my hose bibs which had been damaged despite winterizing due to this horrible past winter! Kenny was fantastic - personable, quick and high quality. Kenny was very patient when he walked me through after he fixed my hose bibs - tested them with me and answered all of my questions in a very clear, concise and not confusing manner! We had a great experience with Magnolia at each step: quick phone call returning my online inquiry; service rep came to my house the next day to look at the situation, explain what was needed, and give me an estimate; work scheduled and completed just a couple of days later. It wasn't the simplest project, required running new electric, a new gas line, and creating new vents to the outside. Carlos and Jose arrived on time, got the work done and walked us through it, and cleaned the place up before they left. It's only been a day but the new hot water heater is working like a charm.

I've used Magnolia for several repairs over recent years. We live in a 107 year old row home, and things are never fully right. Mario was recently brought in to correct some drainage issues with our laundry unit that was not installed appropriately years and years ago. Mario and his Magnolia team were prompt, courteous, and professional, and fixed the problem with great skill. As sometimes happens, a few follow up issues arose, and both Mario and Magnolia were quick to respond, completing a follow up visit on a time frame that worked for us, and communicating clearly what needed to be done, as well as setting up expectations for potential future work. My only complaint with Magnolia is that they can be expensive out of the gate, but they stand by their work, and I cannot argue with the quality and professionalism they deliver. That goes a long way.

Felix S was very professional and did a great job replacing the two intake valves and hoses for our upstairs bathroom sink. It took him about 20 minutes to do the work and the parts he supplied I estimate cost about $30 to $40. The charge was $419 which I thought was a bit steep in terms of the amount of time the job required. I asked Felix why it was so expensive, and all he did was point to an amount written on a piece of paper. If we were living in rural America, the job would have likely have cost half of that amount or less. I guess that is life in the city.

Avoid this company at all costs! Called them for an urgent HVAC repair and was told replacements parts would take 2-3 days (I even offered to pay for expedited shipping). Was told the replacement part was available on day 3...waited for 2 hours only to be called and told they actually don't have it. On day 6 was told they have the replacement parts only to wait again for 2 more hours to be called and told they dont have it - again! The customer service line is a joke...they kept routing me to a manager who never called back. I will never use this company again and recommend anyone reading this avoid wasting their time with such horrible customer service.😡

I've had Magnolia do work for me twice and both times they've been outstanding. I needed advice on an old boiler and Angel clearly ran me through everything I had, checked everything over, what service options were available, and didn't try to scare me into servicing anything or buying a totally new system. Really appreciate having all the info I needed to make good decisions on maintaining or replacing what I had.

I had another plumbing company no-show for a job, called Magnolia up, they got Nelson here at 9AM the next day. They gave me an estimate before starting any of the work, talked me through everything they were going to do, and capped a gas line and installed a new tub faucet in 2 hours.

Life is too short to deal with contractors who don't communicate well or show up so I'll call them every time now for anything plumbing/heating related.

Magnolia was fantastic from a quick, professional reply to being right on time. Ernest and his assistant were knowledgeable and efficient. Ernest was also very friendly and accommodating. The original quote for a plumbing clog in the home seemed exorbitant to me and after he told me the price, I told him that I would gladly pay his visit/diagnostic fee, but $500+ for what was about an hour or less of work was just too much. Ernest was understanding and he gave me as many discounts as he possibly could to bring the price down a bit. Candidly, I still think that Magnolia’s rates are too high, but that’s the only complaint you’ll hear. The clog is repaired and it was done perfectly.

We moved into a new house about a year ago and needed to set up an HVAC maintenance plan. A friend recommended Magnolia so I called them. I had an appointment within three days of my call and they sent two trucks out, one to do a thorough (free) plumbing inspection and the other to service our A/C equipment. The men were a great team and clearly had a good working relationship. I learned everything I needed to know about our system and got great advice regarding a water pressure issue. I was please with how quickly we were able to schedule my appointment and I was also pleased that the repair person was on time. However, I felt taken advantage of in the end. I was told my disposal could not be repaired and had to be replaced. The cost to replace it with the model he had on the truck would be over $600.00. I then asked how much it would be if I went to Home Depot to buy a disposal and have them install it. He told he that the ones at home depot would not be as high a level as this one and also more expensive and that the charge for them to install one I purchased would be over $450.00. So, in the end, I decided to have them do it with the one he had on his truck. I then looked up disposals on-line on the Home Depot website and found the very one he installed for $99.00, which in the end would have been less than what I was charged.

Nelson was great! Saved me money by confirming that what the last plumber (different company) told me was a bunch of hooey - I didn’t need a new shut off valve. Determined I indeed have a water main break. I might have gone days or weeks more thinking I needed to replace the valve before the main break could be diagnosed!! All while I’m racking up a huge DC Water bill.
While he was here Nelson also fixed a shower cartridge that was no longer allowing hot, let alone warm, showers. And he was able to fix a big boo boo that had been made when the shower was originally installed fifteen years ago- the cartridge had been reversed so that you had to set the dial to cold to get hot water.
Nelson is patient and thorough and most importantly honest. He must have answered about 100 questions I threw at him. Will definitely call Magnolia again and make sure to get him.

Carlos came early this morning to diagnose a major problem with our heating system. The radiators were not getting warm at all. Within no time there was heat. I would like to add that he walked my husband through what was going on and made recommendations.

Here is my issue with Magnolia Plumbing - I really wanted to use you guys but you are asking for $75 dispatch fee and cannot commit to my total cost and cannot give prices over the phone. They came to install a convector for us, and the whole process dragged from spring to fall. We understood that they had to work with a vendor to get the correct model, so we never complained and were trying to be as accommodating as possible. But because we never said anything, I felt like they were not treating us seriously and taking advantage of us. Every time they came, they told us they had to come back because they needed to check something else, order a different part, etc. They never followed up with us on when they would come back until we asked (and then they even told us that we had to make separate appointments with the office); they were always late and did not tell us that they were running late until the time they were supposed to show up - sometimes they didn't even bother to say anything until we asked if they were still coming. When they were not able to install the convector and the weather started to get cold, they said they were going to give us a portable heater, so we can use that in the interim. Instead, they sent us a portable air-conditioner. We had even double checked with them to make sure it was actually a heater...and they confirmed with us it was an air-conditioner and a heater. They came probably more than 10 times to try to install the convector. The last time they were supposed to come (we had even texted the night before to confirm with them that they were indeed coming), they called us around the time they were supposed to show up and told us that they got confused with the schedule, so they could not do it. It was not until we demanded that the convector had to be installed on the same day, did they finish the job.

I recently had my kitchen remodeled and when I went to use the sink, water began leaking from underneath the sink. I called Magnolia Plumbing and they sent Duane. He was absolutely amazing. He talked with me about the potential issues based on a visual inspection. It turned out the garbage disposal needed to be replaced. Duane offered to schedule to come back the next day, but also stated he could do it that evening. He was honest and professional. I highly recommend Magnolia Plumbing and Duane.

I've used Magnolia for our HVAC and plumbing services. They hire quality service engineers and came with masks and shoe covers. For the AC issue they quickly fixed the issue (Cleaned out the filter in the closed recirculation system, which apparently is a common problem with the building). The plumbing inspection which came at a different time was done for free, because we have a maintenance contract with the HVAC group. They found a small leak under the bathroom sink because of not properly tightened drain lever cap. Good quality service personnel. Their schedulers also typically call us before they come. The last time they called to tell us they were delayed and we would have to reschedule as it was late in the day.

Had then out for a routine inspection. While my ac unit is older it works great. They gave me an abused list of things that needed to be fixed. I happened to have another contractor at my house working on something else who pulled me aside to tell me he was listening to what the hvac techs were saying and warned me they were likely going to tell me things were wrong that weren’t. Mysteriously my ac unit stopped working that afternoon. It’s hard for me to say it’s a coincidence...

Found I had a leak in my water heater and they sent Russ out to give me an estimate. He worked out the details and gave me an assessment on the spot. I thought the cost was much higher than expected but I needed to get it done and we were using a credit that their company accepted. I didn't have time to call around. Besides they waived the estimate fee for me.
The came back the following morning and ripped out the old system. During this time we learned there was a leak into the below condo (not sure at this moment if it was the current situation or was ongoing from the leak). They were very friendly and worked quickly. I was asked if they could borrow some items (I.e., bucket, wet vac). I didn't see an issue until I realized they left a mess in the wetvac.

Russ finished the job in a timely manner. But when my wife went to take a shower hours later the wiring was stripped or didn't stay together. I called in the morning and Russ came out and fixed it. He also spent time to show me how to adjust the temp if needed.

All in all, there were some minor things that made me switch from 5 to 4. I think the wet vac annoyed me the most. Next time I won't allow a crew to borrow something like that. I think I need a new filter.

Landlord's Mother thought highly of the founder of Magnolia and pushed this company on his to use for repairs. They did okay job repairing Trane HVAC 6 years ago. Landlord used them to install his new Navien combi boiler. He spent over 15k including labor.
That was 2/2022.
Flashforward to 10/2022. SH did not engage several times. Then it started working again fine for 2 weeks. Had a warm spell in the weather and didn't use it again until mid November. DHW always working just fine.
Landlord called Magnolia and the first person they sent out didn't know anything about Naviens. He didn't bother to tell my landlord and me this fact until he had sat in his work truck for 3 hours apparently waiting for help from Navien. He never mentioned seeing any error code to either of us. Instead he would ask someone else more experienced to return new day.
Very cold night and was happy when Landlord informed me that Magnolia promised to send someone experienced. By this time I had presented the situation to every possible HVAC and heatinghelp forum online. From reddit's HVAC advice to heatinghelp and terry love forums, I explained the no heat issues I was dealing with.
Universally, the experienced members on these boards told me it had to be the 3 way valve failing. They said it's not fixable.
So a senior tech and assistant came out and said they fixed it the 3 way valve. Not my house, not my boiler, and no one seemed interested in listening to a woman with opinions. They said they heat was fixed and quickly left.
Ran hot water and then heat wouldn't come on again. Hot water fine as usual.
Landlord is also my roommate now and said he'd get them back out. They returned and claimed it was a pump issue.
They repaired it and confirmed that radiators had heat. They did. I almost mentioned the issue with turning on DHW and that seeming to trigger the valve to get stuck.
They left and again after running hot water briefly, heat went off and wouldn't turn back on. After 6 hours temp in house dropped down to upper 50s.
I was desperate for heat and used the suggestion of one of the techs online. He said to keep turning heat and hot water on and off to try and trick it into working. Finally after about 75 times, heat came on. Whne landlordroommate returned home he was amazed the heat was working. Decided to not even try to run the hot water all weekend.Heat worked great all weekend.
Now on Monday started running hot water again. Same issue of no heat, but at least I have been able to make the trick work again after a couple hours. The valve clearly needs to be replaced with a new one but they have not returned my landlord's calls in a few days. Don't understand why Magnolia sells Naviens when according to Navien they are not NSS certified on them

I couldn't just select just one description, I like the service, the responsiveness, punctuality, quality and value of this company. I was really impressed. Mr. Reed walked into my house and immediately told me that I'd had a history of having the same problem with my furnace; and told me that he was going to resolve the problem today. And he did! The major problem was the thermostat, along with other issues, which he fixed. I quickly had heat, thanks to Carlos.

I have used another local company to service my HVAC for the past two years and there was still an issue with a leak inside of my home. The only thing I was told was that the HVAC system needed to be repaired. Granted, this is the original unit the home came with but given that it was still working, I was hoping to get a better assessment of what could be causing the leak. I contacted Magnolia to see if there was anything that could be done and they sent their amazing technician Oscar Lopez out for the job. Upon arriving, he was able to locate the cause of the leak, pointing out an issue that the other company never even looked for. He was extremely thorough, professional and did such a wonderful job that I will be switching to Magnolia and requesting him moving forward - even when I'm planning to replace the HVAC. I highly recommend Oscar Lopez and Magnolia!

We had an emergency plumbing situation and it was recommended that we call Magnolia. I called at 7:30am and Kenny was at my door before 9:00am! I can't say enough about his professionalism, knowledge, and the quality (and cleanliness!) of his work. We needed pretty extensive repairs to our 100 year old shower. Kenny identified the problem with minimal disruption to the drywall. He had to go to the warehouse, twice, to get parts and he still completed the job before 1:30pm. He left our house in better condition than he found it. We will be using Magnolia from now on and always requesting Kenny!

This review concerns Reggie D and the technician he brought with him. They came to our house yesterday to fix our boiler while my husband, Hamilton McGraw was home. My husband said the service Reggie and his technician provided was off the charts! They were both knowledgeable and professional and they took the time to be thorough. My husband is a contractor and he said in all the years he has been in business he has never witnessed two such fine employees as these two gentlemen who clearly love their jobs. Their outstanding customer service made spending all the money to have the boiler fixed a little easier to swallow!

Mr. R. Dean diagnosed the problem, gave me my options, I choose to replace the two parts; he replaced and repaired in an reasonable amount of time. He was very professional, kind and prompt.
The parts were so extremely expensive, no fault of Mr. Deans, I forgot to ask to see the receipt of parts purchased and the old parts that were removed, no fault of Mr. Deans, it was my fault. I'm pleased with his work.

I had a furnace problem, no hot water was getting to my radiators, so I called Magnolia Tuesday morning. They told me they would come that afternoon between 4 and 7. No one showed up so I called at 7:15. Gee, sorry, we can come first thing Wednesday morning and we will cut the Diagnostic Fee from $189 to $75.
On Wednesday they showed up at 9:15, but they were plumbers, didn't know how to work on a furnace. An hour later I was called and told that they could come between 4 and 7, but the diagnostic fee would be $109, up from $75. SERIOUSLY?
I called an hour later and they blamed it on the new guy who set my appointment. I told them it was the company's fault for not training him properly and they could send their people that afternoon if they'd like to BUT I wouldn't let them in my house.
Made arrangements instead with 4FastPlumber.

My furnace went out on one of the coldest nights of the year. The low that evening was around 9. I called Magnolia at 7am and they said they could get a technician out between 10 and noon. Noon came around and I called back. They said he was on his way and would be there in 20 minutes. 45 minutes later I called back and they said he was on his way and should be there in about 30 minutes. I mentioned the previous call they put me on hold. When they came back on, they said he was only about 5 minutes away.

Once the technician got to my place, he was very friendly and fixed my furnace in no time. The service (though late) was top notch.

Russ was awesome to work with at Magnolia. He came and took a look at our old water heater, which was still working but is going on 16 years old. He gave an upfront quote for the work, answered all my questions about going tankless versus a new tank, why they're using the equipment they're using, and all the other details of the install. We decided to move forward and when he came back, he was in and out in 2 hours. He and his team worked very clean, answered all my post-install questions, demonstrated all the features on the tank, showed us the plumbing enhancements they made, provided us with all the owners manuals, and lastly informed us about the upcoming inspection by WSSC. While Magnolia isn't the least expensive option, they are highly professional, employ high quality people, and are very very thorough. We're extremely satisfied.

I called Magnolia plumbing to help install a new kitchen faucet (that I supplied). They gave an estimate based on a fear that threads were stripped. They were not - and the job took only 45 minutes. The charge was $476.00. That’s 10 dollars a minute. 10 dollars a minute works out to $600 an hour, almost $5000 a day, $25,000 a week, $100,000 a month, and $1,200,000 a year. If you can afford those prices - go right ahead.

Russ from Magnolia Plumbing came out and fixed our Boiler. We originally had Cropp Metcalfe come out (I have a maintenance contract with them) and they quote me around $2k to fix, and to replace $6-8k. Magnolia fixed it for $298 on a Sunday (same day service). I switching my maintenance over to them thanks to Russ! He was very professional, and most importantly, experienced! Thanks Russ!

I phoned Magnolia on October 6, 2014 to request a service call for a leaking toilet. I was very impressed with their customer-focused service. I was able to get a same day appointment and was phoned when the technician was within a half hour of my home. Felix arrived on time with a warm hello. He diagnosed the problem quickly, explained my options for repair, and gave me a quote. He worked quickly and professionally and honored the quote when the job was completed. Felix also offered to inspect my hot water heater and explained the new government mandate (effective April 2015) intended to increase water heater efficiency. He was very knowledgeable and helped me understand the choices I could make. Felix delivered both outstanding advice and service.

Geovonn explained everything that was wrong with the water heater. Called me in to view the before during and after installation of the water heater. Provided great customer service and finished the job in the time frame he had stated before starting the job.

It took 3hours this included:
1. Walking with me to shut off the water,
2. explaining the problem,
3. answering questions,
4. taking photos of old water heater and
5. pointing out/explaining the new water heater and what work he did.

Highly recommend! I greatly appreciate the service he provided and his positive attitude.

Magnolia was contracted by my property management company to handle a leaking issue in our condo building affecting multiple units. Jeremy and Jose came out from Magnolia and were FANTASTIC to work with! They were courteous and on time. Always making sure to put on booties before entering any units. Reggie and Darrell are the epitome of great customer service. Reggie came to our condo on Saturday to fix our air conditioner. He didn’t have the part that he needed. He made a point to check on the part availability first thing on Monday morning and made sure that we were his first appointment on Monday morning. Reggie was very professional and thorough in his explanation of the repairs. It’s apparent that he takes great pride in his work.

Darrell came out the next day to install a ne garbage disposal. He was very quick and efficient and did a great job of explaining things.

The building I live in contracts Magnolia Plumbing. They have been to my apartment THREE times and unable to fix the issue. The first staff member they sent ASKED if he could USE my bathroom and left a mess in the bathroom. They were also on the phone the whole time cursing. Terrible service and customer experience. Would never use their services and will ask my building to consider another vendor.

Reggie at Magnolia Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling was timely, prompt, efficient, and courteous. He called to let me know when he was about an hour out and Magnolia's office called about 20-30 minutes before he arrived. Reggie was friendly and answered all my questions about our HVAC unit. This afternoon, Magnolia's service technician, Sam Musser Sr. arrived on time to service my air conditioning unit. He checked everything out and though the news was not good he did explain my options. That didn't matter because Sam did his job extremely will. He even called Magnolia to get another appointment for Saturday, wow! I have only good things to say about Mr. Musser Sr. and Magnolia Plumbing, Heating, Cooling.

After having them come out and determine that we would need about 1k worth of services we were not able to do on the first appt. Paid for coming out and giving an estimate. Next made an appt for 2 weeks later on the only day the building can/would turn off the water to do the work. wanted first thing and was told they would be there between 8-10. Day of appt they canceled at 9am! Never will i use again and i suggest you think twice before scheduling because who knows if they will show!!!!

Our old heater/air unit system was beyond further patching. Our utility bills were mounting as the old 15+ year old unit tried to keep up with demand…. So with winter here and rebates available to help, we decided it was time to get a new system.

We decided on getting 3 bids, and references, and then work from there. Cost was an issue as we are living within a tight budget. We found Magnolia on the INTERNET along with 2 other companies. (we checked yelp, and google, and review buzz as well as a few other). Our salesman was Mike. We found him to be friendly, timely, knowledgeable, and value minded. He kept focused on apples-to-apples comparison and sent us a proposal with all the information. He answered all of our questions in an understandable, forthright manner, without sales pressure. After review, we trimmed potential vendor list down to the top 2 competitive vendors, Magnolia being one, so we had our 2nd interviews and final negotiations. We ended up choosing Magnolia as the most competitive, especially with the extra value promised. The project beginning-to-finish took 2 days (the very 1st day we had heat back on and running for that evening)
Josh and Chris were the installers (***** the best). They...
1) were professional in work ethic, dress, courtesy, timeliness, and clean-up
2) made sure we were aware of all that they were doing, equal to stipulated contract
3) were knowledgeable and professional in taking time to explain as well as answer any questions we had or may have had. (I would hire all 3 of these guys in a minute if I was still working).
Magnolia made sure we were happy before we made payment. We would use this company again without any doubts.

Unreal service and prices. $75 for a service call with 0 work... Subsequent quote was also outrageous. 1.5K for a new bathroom tub faucet set. Person who visited literally said it would take 3 hours, so with the cost of the actual hardware we are talking about ~$400/hr. I ended up fixing it myself with some research, time, and much less money! I would avoid this place.

This is the worst plumbing company. All they want you to do is purchase new equipment from them instead of doing some real work and servicing equipment that works. The problem is that they don’t have real plumbers to actually do real work. They have installers that waste your time!

I recently moved into a house with a 15 year old gas furnace that started making a very...concerning noise. I called Magnolia Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling and they came out the same day to do an inspection. Carlos quickly found the problem, which was a part that needed to be replaced. I was so worried that the furnace itself was on its last legs, but his opinion was that with replacing the part and regular maintenance, it should last at least a few more years. The part wasn't available in the warehouse, so they had to order it, but the work was still done the next day.

I read a lot of reviews about Magnolia being overpriced, and I don't know if that's true or not, because I was more focused on getting the problem addressed quickly and professionally than getting multiple estimates. I will say for sure that I received excellent service from Carlos and my whole interaction with them was very professional from start to finish.

Magnolia has been servicing my HVAC system for nearly 10 years. They also replaced my hot water heater in 2019. I subscribe to their Gold Plan, which includes an AC service in spring/summer and heating service in the fall. My system is 17 years old but by regularly changing the filters and Magnolia’s maintenance checks twice a year, it’s still working great. My system is in a tight space and Magnolia does a great job. I always request Tan Van Cao if possible. He’s very knowledgeable and professional.

Carlos Reed was our technician for an AC issue and did an outstanding job. He quickly identified the issues and got to work on them right away, keeping me updated about status and cost while I was at work. He identified and fixed other issues that our prior provider, Michael and Sons, never bothered to notice. He and Magnolia are an excellent choice and are much more affordable than Michael and Sons and their slipshod work.

A few years ago we had Magnolia plumbing help us with a bathroom remodel and a kitchen upgrade. Both experiences were excellent, but when deciding to install a new HVAC unit we decided, mainly because of price, to go with another company. We've always regretted it. We recently had Magnolia install a new hot water tank and the service professional, Felix, noticed our HVAC unit had water oozing out from under it. He volunteered to make an appointment for an HVAC specialist to come the next day to check it out. I very much appreciated his concern and attention to something completely separate from his given task. The two service pros who came the next morning to check out the HVAC unit (Reggie and Jason) were very thorough, professional and honest. In the future Magnolia will be first choice for plumber/HVAC needs.

Is it me or are there a lot of 5 star reviews with very similar wording? From people who have only reviewed 1 or 2 places? Magnolia was so great they made it their only review ever?

I don’t believe all the reviews on here are legit. That really turned me off and led me to write a review from a real customer.

I’ve used Magnolia about 4 times. They are great to deal with and communicate well. Have done the work right every time. People who have come out have been awesome.

But... man are they expensive! Minus 2 stars for that. I absolutely love their service, but not sure I’ll be calling them next time. Coin toss.

He was not able to fix the problem, and so Magnolia sent another technician, who arrived as promised. I called magnolia plumbing twice in the past year, and they haven't let me down yet!
Quick response time and their guys came out fairly fast, one call was an emergency and they were there within the hour.
I haven't used them for HVAC services, just a toilet and sink problem, but it has been great both times. Communication is also great, hands down, 5 stars.

I first used Magnolia services in October of 2015 to fix a leaking shower faucet. Carlos came and replaced the cartridge for a new one for 322 dollars. A couple of months ago the faucet started to leak again. Carlos came again and looked at it without doing any work and said that the only solution was to replace the whole faucet for 965 dollars.
I called another company , they came and fixed the leaking faucet for 140 dollars in less than an hour.
i am very disappointed with Magnolia and will never used it again.
i just gave it one star because there is no option to give zero

If you found Magnolia look no further. They installed both a ductless mini-split and re-routed a current duct and they did a fantastic job. Very responsive to my questions before and after the fact. Staff at the office was extremely friendly and helpful. Sam was absolutely great to work with- explained everything in terms us lay folks would understand and was available long after the job was finished for any questions that came up. Almost to the point where I am looking for a reason for them to come back to do more work.

This day began badly but ended on a very high note. My boiler stopped working overnight. It was 29 degrees outside. I called Magnolia at 8am, and by 10 am Carlos Reed was at my door. By the time he left, my heating system was working better than it has worked in years. Carlos is an excellent diagnostician and an extremely skilled technician. He took the time to analyze what was needed, then went out to pick up the replacement part, came back and installed it, drained the entire system and powered it up again, and performed many other tasks designed to make sure the system was functioning as effectively and efficiently as possible. Carlos also explained everything he was doing in language I could understand and quite accurately estimated what the repairs would cost. He is a very courteous, hard-working man who cares very much about the quality of his work as well as the satisfaction of his customers. He is a terrific credit to Magnolia Plumbing and Heating, and thanks to him, I am now a devoted customer. And my house is nice and toasty!

Called to request an evaluation on a leak in a downstairs bathroom. The charge to come to the house was $75. After the technician arrived at the house, the price to actually evaluate the pipe under the house was quoted at $330, plus the cost of repairs/labor. We declined, since this seemed unreasonable. I spoke with customer service to request a refund of $75 as there was no assessment made on the problem--the refund request was refused. My entire interaction with this company was a waste of time.
