We finally figured out that our blower wasn't cutting off at random times, sometimes for days. Zachary arrived out within 2 hrs of the first call. He was quick, requested excellent questions to narrow down the likely causes, checked things out, and identified the ancient contact/relay outside as the most likely culprit. We couldn't reproduce the problem, of course (like a noise a car is making that never does it at the shop), but I decided to go ahead and replace the part as it was likely to completely fail soon anyway given it's age and condition. Haven't had a problem since, and won't again. Overall it was a good experience, no complaints. After 2x $550+ electric bills, this will get us back to normal until things cool off and we can get the system replaced without everyone being miserable during the replacement process.
