* Overbilling: Taking sweet time while working at $200 an hour. Counted half an hour extra over 2 visits.
* Handwritten bill with no time in/out mentioned and no parts mentioned anywhere.
* Changing a seemingly 'old' cartridge took 2 visits. First visit just to open it and inspect the brand and put it back and second visit, after 2 months, to replace it with a new one and logged 45 minutes. Overall, the labor cost for this alone is ~300.
* I think not mentioning what parts they replaced helps again the next time - even if they replaced it, not keeping a record of what the part was is easily a good chuck of labor charge the next time to open/inspect/replace in another visit.
* Replaced the cartridge and lever is a good 5 degrees off center. Did not mention it until I stopped the service person at the door to ask; his response - I tried it 5 times; you can try if you want.

I recently had a hot water tank failure at my Seattle triplex but I live in southern CA. Having talked to 3 plumbing companies (all very busy), Fischer Plumbing was able to get the job done for me the fastest and their price was comparable to the others. They communicated well, were trustworthy in following instructions for access to the site, removed all old equipment, and did a professional job. Seth (estimator) was easy to work with and the charge was exactly what they quoted. Best of all, he found a comparable tank to what was there, whereas the other companies could not. I would recommend Fischer Plumbing.

Be sure to get the invoice before they leave. I made the mistake of not doing this, and then when it arrived 2 weeks later, it was for double the time they were at my house and double the parts they replaced. When we tried to contact them thinking it was a mistake, we got the runaround for weeks and they refused to address the issue. It's a shame because they solved our problem quickly, did great work, and were professional.

We had them replaced galvanized pipes throughout the house with PEX. They came in, did some work and left. Yay, right? ... No.

First issue - we decided to remodel our bathroom after, so we had to open the wall again. Surprise 1 - they left the galvanize pipe at the shower head. Asked them why, they said we don't replace that ...

Second issue - their plumber screwed the PEX holder onto the stud and somehow nailed through to hit the gas line. They closed the wall without inspecting or letting anyone know.

We found out about 3 weeks later when we turned all the fans from the construction work off.

Called them to come back and fix it, they said they would call us before the person arrived - they didn't. We had to leave work to talk to the technician to get an answer because they wouldn't tell us over the phone.

They also said that they'll confirm with us if we need to pay (if it's not their fault, they will). Of course, they didn't call.

Thankfully they didn't charge us.

Should be zero stars Used unqualified worker with no supervision. Sloppy/poor work resulted in multiple leaks, twice from same connection, twice destroying my floors, and they still put it back the same way (the fitting manufacturer said it was the wrong way to do it). Second time they said a leak in the wall is not an emergency and would not come out until next day, then the guy who came out tried to tell me it was not under warranty which it was. Despite being under warranty, they tried to blame me, the parts manufacturer, anyone but their unqualified worker. Also used their restoration group to do the drywall restoration on the original job--he tried to cobble together a patchwork quilt of scrap material where a single sheet of sheetrock would fit perfectly--he had not come prepared for the job. Fortunately I was able to get repairs (direct claim to their insurance, not from management--they never bothered to come out to see the problem) but not without incredible inconvenience, mess, delay, and resistance. Who needs it?!

Wow. Just wow. Calling a plumber on a Saturday night is never fun, but Fischer took away anxiety with professional and timely service.
