First off, Jim is a very friendly great guy who knows how to get the job done. He showed up next day and fixed our garbage disposal within 15 minutes of arriving. He also gave our dogs treats, and took time to scratch each one. Great guy, great service. Would recommend again.

Jim made sure I was added to his schedule to repair the leak in my kitchen ceiling knowing I had shut off my water earlier. He was quick and conscientious. He also gave me some very valuable information regarding my recent water heater installation.

Mr. Bertolino was sent out by my landlord to do water heater repairs after not having hot water. He was kind and professional, worked quickly to diagnose the issue and sent out his electrical when it was discovered to be an electrical issue. He then followed up the next day and when there were more electrical issues his electrician came out again, did further diagnostic, fixed the issue, and did an amazing job. Mr. Bertolino has followed up every day to make sure that the job was done properly and made sure that I was not without hot water for long. In February 2021, not long after closing on my new home, the hot water heater stopped working. I searched Google, Yelp and the Next Door App for a reputable plumber. JIM BERTOLINO had good reviews and I called him for help. Jim answered my call, asked me some questions about my hot water heater because it was only 4yrs old. He is so knowledgeable and advised that it was still under warranty with the manufacturer. He helped by contacting the manufacturer to get the parts replaced and filed the claim for me. While installing the new part and cleaning the water heater he noticed that another part had not been installed properly when initially installed which probably caused the thermostat on the water heater to go bad. After the thermostat was installed, it didn't work and noticed that another part was also not working properly. It was 10 minutes before his supplier was about to close so he called and the supplier met him half way to bring him the part. If a supplier is willing to do this for a plumber you know that they are not only reputable but someone you want working on your house. Jim took the time to explain everything to me in a way that I understood it. Because of the extra part installation the job took longer than expected. Jim stayed to finish the job which made him late for his next appointment. While I feel bad for the person who was next on his schedule, I am thankful that he stayed to finish and didn't reschedule me. This commitment to his clients speaks to his integrity as a person and getting the job done right.
Fast forward one month later and I had a clog in my sewer pipe. I immediately called Jim again and he was responsive to my request to come out that day. He again explained everything to me and the inner workings of my plumbing system. He took the time to make sure everything worked prior to him leaving my house.
Jim takes the time with his clients to make sure the understand not only what he is doing but things they can do to avoid problems in the future. He is NOT someone who is there to only get paid and leave. He genuinely cares about his clients. I would recommend him to anyone. Owner was quick to respond which I appreciated. However I was quoted $1500 to have a water heater, that I already purchased, and two new valves replaced. Granted it was in a conspicuous space, I thought it was very pricey. I Had another reputable company do it for less than a third.

When he determined that our issue was actually city problem, he called the city and personally waited at my residence for the city's truck to arrive. Additionally, I know when my 14-year-old water heater needs replacement, Jim already offered us same-day service. I highly recommend him. I have already given his info to my neighbors.

11-5-19 UPDATE! STILL AWESOME PLUMBER! Google won't let me write a second review for a new service call so I'm adding to the first review. Our kitchen faucet developed a slow leak. During inspection we also found that the disposal was leaking and we hadn't noticed the water damage to the MDF bottom of cupboard. Called Mr. Bertolino and he provided guidance for replacement faucets (e.g. which brands require least repairs/last longest, which features are gimicky, etc.) and was fortunately able to get us into his schedule quickly. Upon arrival he identified two broken isolation valves and offered advice on re-routing lines for less obstruction. Provided the same awesome tutelage to his son (who rightfully knows his stuff anyway but the obvious camaraderie was good to see) and they had all the necessary pieces/parts on their truck (no going back to the store). Great guy, very experienced, trustworthy with your family and in your home, very fair pricing. This is who you call or recommend to others.

Was unbelievably prompt and always able to contact Jim Bertolino in person. He is not cheaply priced but fair considering he uses top grade materials and is incredibly thorough. Concrete patch work done well after pipes in driveway leaked. Jim found leak, fixed it and spent all day to be sure work done correctly and promptly. You may find cheaper but work will not be as good as this man has nearly 40 years experience!!!!

Jim was very responsive to our request for repairs to our leaking tub drain. He was able to show up and make the appropriate repairs the same day that I called him. He was very cordial and easy to talk to during his visit. I subsequently had him do some additional drain work on another tub. Great contractor and very knowledgable. My shower and toilet from both of the bathroom was clogged and black stuff was coming out of the toilet and the shower when I plunged it. So I called Jim Bertolino & son. He told me it was a backed up sewer to the house and told me every step from identifying the house main sewer drain to describe the main drain box and how to locate it. Then he proceeded to educate me to call the city to put our hard earn Tax dollars to use. If the city can’t help me then they can. He stayed on the phone with me pass his shift to help, educate and save me money. I highly recommend his company.

I described my problem and he told me its an easy fix and we arranged for him to come over the next day. He was prompt and fixed my toilet quickly, even asking me to watch him so I learn about what he was doing. He is a very personable guy, straight-forward and in my opinion as an engineer myself, very knowledgable. He really educated me on the equipment installed in my condo. As a response to your sabotage remark. NO I was not a customer of yours because I sent you packing. Your theories on where the lines were were absolutely unprofessional. You wanted to make 3 holes in my wall (one which was in a custom backsplash). You made a snide comment about what I suggested and that's when you were asked to leave. I called another plumber and he asked the year the home was built and found the leak immediately.

Called Plumber based on online reviews and they came out same day within a few hours! Fixed my tub drain and also did some extra work to fix my sink drain (sometimes they clog together but the sink is actually a separate job). Explained to me anticipated costs prior to doing work. No hidden costs in the end. Explained problem as was being fixed and troubleshooted for future prevention. Did not talk in terms I couldn't understand and if I had a question was discussed in a manner I could grasp (not just plumbing lingo). Waited to make sure the problem was completely resolved. Very knowledgeable professional. I would recommend to anyone for any job large or small.

I called Jim to run a gas line so that we could hook up our washer and dryer in the laundry room, and he understood the timeliness of the request and was out to install it the next day. We hired this plumber to fix a pipe in our family’s beach condo. Two months later we had to hire another plumber to redo what he did because on further inspection the pipe corrosion continued even further. Jim is over priced and brags way to much about what he buys for his family. I would not recommend him to anyone

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. The cast iron pipe in our kitchen broke and the slab needed to be jack-hammered to replace it. I originally called Roto Rooter and they told me I had a slab leak . I called Jim Bertolin & Son Plumbing for 2nd opinion and they found leak during theregular inspection behind my washing valves. They were able to make a repair quick and on same day I called. I would strongly recommend them to all my family and friends . Beware of Roto Rooter trying to get 20,000 dollars for a slab leak when there wasn't a slab leak !!!!

The city notified me that our water consumption was unusually high and it found no leak at my water meter. When I talked to a public utilities rep, it sounded like I had a water leak on my side of the meter, but last month's billing was based on an estimate and not an actual reading. I thoroughly checked all my appliances & fixtures - no leaks or evidence of leaks, but the ground over the main water line felt damp and spongy. I called Jim Bertolino Plumbing because he had done work for me before. He arrived at the end of a long day of work on Saturday and dug out 8 + or - feet of dirt over the main waterline. After finding dry soil covering the line and no significant loss of water pressure when he tested the house piping pressure, he concluded that there was no leak on my side of the water meter. He and his helper cleaned up the yard and left around midnight. Obviously I have issues with the City's public utilities, but I highly recommend him for any plumbing issues you may have.

Our water heater broke and was leaking all over our garage the night before a party we were hosting. Jim answered immediately, came within the hour with a new one and replaced it. I called Mr.Bertolino on a Friday afternoon regarding a completely stopped up master bath expecting that he would need to set up an appointment for some time early the next week. To my surprise he said he would be at my house at 8:30 the next morning. He arrived promptly and explained to me exactly what he planned on doing to fix my problem. He also helped me understand what my plumbing setup looked like underground which helped a lot since I live on a slab and cannot just look at the pipes. In addition, he offered suggestions on how to prevent the problem in the future. The service was efficient and Mr. Bertolino and his assistant were very personable.

Jim came out on a Sunday evening to fix an emergency I caused trying to replace an old discontinued type of valve and was able to correct the issue without having to damage my wall as this type of valve is not easy to remove and my mistake made it even more difficult. He was very busy that day but answered all my calls promptly while I was waiting for him to be available and did show up within the original time window he gave me. Highly recommend.

My tub had a slow drip from the hot water for years...I had someone else come and fix it in October and the leak returned a week later. Another company told me they were going to have to cut my wall out (i cried) so I left the slow drip until this past Friday I could not get my hot water in the tub to turn off at all. I called Jim Bertolino on Friday night and he was out there early Saturday morning. Jim took the time to explain and show me why it was dripping (first plumber from a different company put the wrong cartridge on and no holes were cut in my wall). Jim Bertolino is one of the most HONEST plumbers we have had the pleasure of working with. We called him out for a whole home low pressure issue and the problem was resolved quickly. While there were no repairs needed for what the issue was, Jim took the time to explain and educate my husband and I on the systems at our property (which he installed 12 years ago)! We are now more comfortable with the plumbing/water and backflow valve we have all because of the information he gave us in great detail. If you need a backflow inspection (annually by the city) then he is your guy, the price is more than 50% less than what a well-known company here charges for the same service. My garbage disposal broke, and I called Jim Bertolino & Son. Mr. Bertolino called us to let us know he was on the way. He had a replacement with him, and installed it in about an hour.

I called Jim to install a new garbage disposal and clean out a clogged pipe. He was at my house within hours and gave a fair and transparent fee quote. When the job became slightly more complicated than anticipated, he provided additional parts and work at no additional cost. He worked efficiently and clearly explained his work. I am highly satisfied and will use his services in the future.

Jim explains his work, doesn’t charge a premium for Sunday visits and is completely transparent on the work he’s needing to do and the up front cost. He had to do a complex job under the house and took pictures of the work to explain it. He’s the best plumber I’ve hired for work in 20 years of owning homes.

He came to install 2 new faucets and was faced with a real challenge when he found one faucet had seized to the sink due to the original installation not being done correctly. Excellent professional service. Prompt, respectful, and knowledgeable. This is not a “handyman service.” When you hire this company you are getting a full service, certified plumber. They can diagnose and fix any issue you may have. I highly recommend their services and will use them for my plumbing needs from now on. My sewer line was backed up and all 3 toilets would not flush. They immediately diagnosed the problem, cleared out and repaired the sewer line, and fixed a major issues in a couple of hours. They cleaned up when they finished, removed all work related debris, and left the property in excellent condition.

I had a plumbing issue since I moved in for about 8 months going back and fourth with the property mangers. I just couldn't pinpoint that something was wrong and I kept getting bills from the management company. I finally told them enough was enough and someone needs to come out and really take a look at my plumbing. They came and spent the whole day digging up my backyard and behold my whole plumbing lines were messed up. They then spent the next two days re-piping my plumbing system. Very knowledgeable! Replaced my water heater and fixed a few other small issues that he noticed were wrong, all for a decent price. Definitely recommend.

I would not recommend this plumber. I called him in May after a home inspection found 2 pinhole leaks in the same area of our gas line in the garage near the main line and the gas line had to be shut off for safety reasons. He didn’t answer at first but called back about 30 mins later. I explained I had a company already on the way and would arrive in 3-4 hours. He asked how much their service fee was I said $80.00 and he said that he could be at my house in 30 mins and his service fee is 68.50. I said ok, come out. I was desperate. Our house runs entirely on gas. He showed up about an hour later and writes me out a very short estimate for $1575.00 and then writes an addendum to the contract that states if there are leaks after he puts the pressure through the line there will be additional charges on top of the $1575.00. He says the job should take 2-5 days. Jim asks me to sign this contract. I sign the copy and he then says he has to keep the contract. He then leaves and says he has to hurry and run down to city hall to get the permit before they close. I have my original company I use come out 2 hours after him and fix the repair THE NEXT DAY for $500.00 and there were 6 other leaks after the pressure was run through the line. My original company explains there is always going to be additional leaks when you put that pressure on the gas line in an older home and no extra charge is needed to fix small pinholes. Also, running down to city hall to get the permit was a sham... all that is needed is a phone call to city hall. I took a picture of the contract I signed with him. He is a scam artist. I called him back to explain how I refuse to pay his service fee of 68.50 due to the fact that I almost was ripped off by him for over $1600.00. He became verbally aggressive and defensive. We have since moved and today I got a call stating he is going to take us to court over a $68.50 service fee and then he called my husbands employer (the uscg) to find out our new address. DO NOT USE HIM!!!! Even the city inspector couldn’t believe the price he quoted.

*I’m adding to this review. I stated I was not going to pay the service charge because of the outrageous quote you gave me on the day I cancelled the quoted repairs. I cared about that home. You were asking me to do upgrades on a home I’m trying to sell. That’s absurd. You upcharged and overcharged for things that are not necessary. I never called you any names. I said I was disappointed that you would take advantage of people the way you were trying to take advantage of me. That makes you a scam artist. You are absolutely right I finally decided to write this review after your phone call yesterday. Absolutely! You did say you would keep the copy of the contract and I was uncomfortable with that which is why you said to take a picture. Trust me. The work was done properly and for far less than the thousands you outrageously quoted. The inspector most certainly did say those things. You speak for yourself on here. Every bad review you say the person recollects the situation wrong. No. You tried to overcharge me and you got called on it and became defensive. I hope you do learn something from this. I know I sure did. Never trust someone who doesn’t allow you to keep the quote in hand and someone who pushes you to sign a contract in a rush. Also, don’t trust someone who low balls there “service call fee” you will pay triple in the end.

Mr Jim was awesome! I know he got more than he expected on a Sunday afternoon... thinking he could knock out a quick job... Fast forward to having to cut a hole in my wall and fix what someone else had messed up over 13 years ago. He fixed it. (Know any drywall & plaster guys? You guys should absolutely be ashamed of yourselves. Tried to charge me $2600 to have a FIRST floor EASILY accessible hot water heater replaced. Charged me $250 to come take measurements and then drop this awful bill on me. I got it replaced by a reputable company, for $750...that’s it. That includes materials, labor, and everything. I understand people need to make money. But this is absolutely ludicrous and I told you that on the phone. I’m embarrassed for you that you gouge others like that.

I had a leak in my ceiling from my upstairs toilet that was suppose to be fixed by another plumbing company four months prior to Jim’s visit. When Jim can out he was very professional and informed me that my last plumber botched the entire work (wrong hardware, hardware on backwards, etc). First things first, I would highly recommend Jim and his team for any of your plumbing needs.

We just bought a house and found out that the newly upgraded bathroom shower was leaking to the first floor when in use. We called Jim on Saturday and he was able to come to take a look at our problem on Monday. Initial response time was an A+ in my opinion. He was able to find the problem area and offered two courses of action based on what he was able to find upon more detailed inspection. He found the exact problem and educated us on exactly what occurred and how it needed to be fixed (while pointing out some of the shortfalls done by the contractors who renovated it before we bought it).

Jim and his son came back the next day; accommodating our hectic schedule. After a few hours of work and cleanup, he was educating us on what he did, allowed us to inspect his work, and demonstrated that the problem was resolved. Quality of work was an A+ as well. The final result depicted in the picture; the leak was coming from old hardware (not shown) and he replaced with new/upgraded hardware and connections. They cleaned up the work site and ensured we were happy with the results.

The over 30 years of plumbing experience shows in his work and in his explanation of the problem, possible solutions, and Virginia Code. I would HIGHLY recommend Jim and his team. I needed my water heater replaced. I contacted the big box stores but they wanted the money up front. I was not about to do that. I did some searching online and called Jim. I told him what I was looking for. Jim spoke with me for quite some time educating me about the proper water heater for home use. I hired Jim to perform the water heater replacement. I could not have been more satisfied with the work. Quality at its best. A few months later I had under the sink plumbing issues. I called Jim and he recommended what should be replaced. I asked him to replace the garbage disposal as well. Again, the work was topnotch. JIm always autographs his work with excellence. Now I will say this as I read in other reviews, this company is on the high end of pricing BUT you know your getting the best workmanship. I took the cheap route for my first water heater replacement. The piping leaked the next day and water everywhere. Cause was from very poor, cutting corners, work. So my overall opinion? I highly recommend Jim Bertolino & Son Plumbing as I have had good luck with them and they seem to know their stuff.

Mr. Bertolino arranged his schedule to come fix a leaking water heater, on a Sunday morning. While he was there he also explained that the shutoff valves were not good quality, therefore bound to fail when we needed them the most. We had a drain problem in the kitchen for several months and could not get it corrected in spite of the fact two other plumbers were called in during this period to solve the problem. I usually can handle plumbing issues but Bertolino is the goto guy for any serious problem. The top listed Google plumber was clueless and I was happy to pay him his $150 visit fee and have him leave after he lost an o-ring in my pump out. Bertolino arrived in less than the 60 minutes he promised and stayed til 10pm to finish the job and get the water flowing in my house. His charges are reasonable and work is top quality.

Called these guys over phone to ask about an estimate of gas plumbing service at my place. I got a very bad experience from a technician who was very rude. Very much disappointed on the way he replied. Would never suggest these guys for any one.

HORRIBLE SERVICE! When Mr. Bertolino arrived at my house, I invited him and his associate in and explained where the clogged sink was. I noticed that his and his assistant's boots were filthy (mud/dried feces) and I asked him kindly if he wouldn't mind taking them off before he walked through the house. They both looked at each other, sort of rolling their eyes, the assistant took his boots off but Mr. Bertolino said No; I'm not taking my boots off. I then said I am not trying to be rude by asking this, but I have small children that play on the floor, and I know what kind of stuff y'all have to step in, I would really appreciate it if you could take off your boots. Mr. Bertolino said I didn't step in anything today. Well, from the looks of his boots, he clearly stepped in muck yesterday, and everyday before for years! Then he rudely said I can't. I can't take off my boots. It's too hard. I'm not going to take them off. (They were lace-up work boots.)..... I got pissed and called my husband over from around the corner to deal with him.. just my husband's presence made him change his arrogant attitude, and they put a tarp down.

No client should have to be disrespected in that way. Nobody should have to feel demeaned by asking a common sense request. Dude, there is crap on your shoes!! As a plumber, putting on booties, or taking off your boots, or automatically (not reluctantly) putting a tarp down to protect the health of the people who live there - not to mention protecting the carpets/flooring - should be a normal, everyday part of your job.

I think what bothered me the most was when Mr. Bertolino said I can't take my boots off, it's too hard. Really? Too hard? I am a Navy spouse, my husband is active duty 20 years and wears combat boots everyday! The owners of this house we are renting are Active Duty Military. How disrespectful! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLUMBING COMPANY!

Jim was super professional and gave me a very detailed explanation on what needs to be repaired and what needed to be replaced. Jim was amazing. I am military and was returning from overseas. We had a large gas leak in our hot water heater in the garage. The city shut off our gas and so my wife and son had no hot water or heat.

A freak accident happened in my bathroom this morning (causing the pipe behind my toilet to burst) and I needed a plumber ASAP. So I googled “plumber in Virginia Beach” and Jim Bertolino & Son came up. I looked over the great reviews and decided to give them a call. Jim gaurenteed same day service and gave me a window of time. He got here within that time, did excellent work and gave us a lot of information.

Waste of time, and over charges with out fixing your problem. We had a grinder problem. Jim came out after spending $895 for the bucket to be pumped out and paying him $750. He could not tell us what the issue was, came back the second day and wanted to put a new system in. Said it would take 8 weeks and cost $17,000. We had to pay him $450 for that day. He is yet to call us back a week later. We called another company that came out and fixed the issue in 30 minutes and cost us $525. Please don't waste your time calling this man. He is a fraud and only wants your money.

Jim Sr. arrived at my home, on time, reviewed the situation and explained my options. And when I say explained my options he didn’t just talk about Energy Efficiency, he enlightened me with the internal workings of the water heater, including electrical, plumbing code, heat settings, and answered all of my questions.

All costs were discussed upfront, and at the end of the installation there were no unexpected charges.

My water heater is located on the ground floor, under a stairwell. It’s not the easiest of locations to examine it for leaks, never mind to maneuver the water heater in and out of its location. I called yesterday because my water heater was leaking and flooding my home. They said they could be at my home in an 90 minutes. Jim Bertolino and His assistant Rudy showed up with the replacement water heater within the hour of my call. First I was very impressed the owner actually was doing the job. It was quite evident Mr. Bertolino and his assistant had done this many times before. They made quick work with the replacement using a commercial grade water heater. They also replaced the valve on top because it was corroded. I had called 2 other companies but there prices were a couple of hundred dollars higher. I would strongly recommend this company they cleaned the entire area took all the debris from the job. I normally don’t write reviews but this company was very reasonable and I was so impressed. I have recommended them just today to my sisters home to replace her kitchen faucet…thank you Mr. Bertolino for such a wonderful job.

The guy was really nice but this experience wasn’t the best. They came out as soon as they could and tried to help. But I wasn’t told over the phone that just for coming out I would be charged 260 dollars. A 60 dollar fee for coming and a 190ish fee for “diagnosis” there was no problem. it turned out the beeping was from a loose fire alarm we had in a box. Didn’t actually do any work so a 260 fee makes no sense. 60 dollars does for coming out but 190 for “diagnosis”. I originally had a blank review because I was told they would wave the 5% fee if I left a review. But as I want told on the phone that hey it’s 260 for us to just stop by makes me really upset. Won’t be using again.

Mr. Bertolino and his son (Jimmy) we’re complete professionals! They showed up on time, placed cloth tarps on my wooden floor, and explained everything.

When I look for a service there are four areas I look for before making the call -1. Reviews - positive and negative, 2. BBB rating, 3. Local companies that provide 24/7 services, 4. Price factor for the quality of products used. This company checked all of my areas of interest without even making the initial call.

When I spoke to Mr. Bertolino himself, I was quite pleased with his openness and willingness to explain his background and company history. Initially I had to leave a message and he called me back within the ten minutes his voice mail message advertised. Impressive!

After the greeting introductions, I launched into to my next three points for the product he offers (Rheem water heaters) - I look for 1. efficiency, 2. quality, and 3. longevity of the product. Again my checkpoints were met. We even talked plumbing codes and about the competition between our favorite MLB ⚾️ teams (Bosox/Nyc the other guys...😎). Yes, I still liked his offer.
Service request objectives met - contract issued!

Another plus - Mr. Bertolino and his son cleaned up continuously throughout the installation of a new water heater and took the old water heater with them - as advertised. Jim responded extremely quickly to our desperate plea for help with a leaking gas water heater. We were going on a much needed trip to see our daughter in Maine the next morning at 4:30. We were frantic because we had a new pet sitter coming and we could not ask her to deal with a flooding garage (water cut off valve was also broken) and no hot water. In my opinion, our gas hot water heater was an unsightly beast and I dreaded asking any poor soul to deal with it! Once Jim and I spoke on the phone and I sent him some pictures, he quickly went to work finding the appropriate unit for us that would be up to code. This expense was unwelcome and difficult for us because we had just completed another home project the day before. Though the project was expensive due to its nature, Jim and his son did an outstanding job. Not only did we have a fully functional brand new unit by 6:30 that evening, but Jim had made all of the valve connections less ghastly and streamlined everything. He explained everything he was going to do in advance, and then explained how to extend the life of our new unit with some maintenance suggestions. You get what you pay for and his work is top notch and he is compassionate about your life circumstances. He also tolerated and respected our (at times) barking dogs which meant a lot to us. We would not hesitate to use him in the future and highly recommend his services to others.

Recently had a problem with a huge water bill and could not locate the problem. Jim came out and investigated every inch under the house and no leak was detected. We determined it must be in the water line in the yard and he arranged for a sonar evaluation to find the problem. It was found and the digging began. After all repairs were made everything was cleaned up and the area was raked nicely. I was so impressed I had him back the second time for new bathroom sinks and the third time for a new toilet. He is always on time and does a fabulous job.

We found a huge puddle of water under our water heater and didn't quite know what to do. Immediately, we started calling plumbers and they all told us that we'd have to wait and pay for a technician to come look at our problem, and then try to find next steps (we didn't have the time for that). Finally, we found Jim online and he answered our call immediately. He talked to my husband for almost 15 minutes explaining what he believed could be going on, our options on different types of water heaters, and what services he could provide us. He was at our house just a few hours later--ready to work! Upon fixing the water heater, we still heard a sound that didn't seem quite right. Instead of just ignoring it, Jim poked around to find the issue. We actually had a pipe leaking! Even though he had already been at our house for a few hours and it was night time at this point, Jim and Rudy were willing to continue to work. They could tell we were stressed about the situation and did not want to leave it unfinished for another time. Ultimately, they stayed until they fixed all our problems, did so at a very reasonable price, and took the time to explain everything. Highly Recommend!

Jim was very professional and took care of our family. I had 2 other plumbers come out and one quoted 10,000 the other quoted us 4,000. So I looked threw the reviews and saw Jim. My Dad and I tried installing a new toilet in my upstairs bathroom. Jim repaired my outdoor hose faucet which was leaking. We had tried every type of faucet handle and nothing worked. The threads were stripped. He explained the job and used his expertise to install a new valve, stem and all the associated parts to make it now work perfectly. We had a great, prompt, and professional experience today! We were online first thing this morning and chose this business first because of the glowing reviews. After calling Jim at around 6 am, he was here at the time he promised and got straight down to business. Had a recurring sewer back up that has been coming and going for a number of years. This time all my efforts to snake the line from the house fixtures failed and the only visible cleanout at the house was unusable since it was halfway imbedded in the foundation wall. Called Jim Bertolino, explained my situation, and he said he'd be out that evening. He assured me that he would not leave until the issue was resolved. I had my doubts knowing the work involved, but he was good to his word. Rebuilt my house cleanout so that it was accessible and had things flowing again in relatively short order. I was especially impressed that despite the fact that my exterior drain line was a substandard 3 in diameter rather than the normal 4, he had the parts on hand to rebuild my cleanout. I highly recommend Jim Bertolino for your plumbing needs. Great service and perhaps more importantly, he is honest and hard working.

Only did a inspection they charged me $314, $14 for credit card fee.Then they gave me a estimate for over $10000 to replace my pipes, and my house only 10 years old most of the pipes are new. Then they reported to city said my pipes replacement work has no permit, but my plumber is very professional so the report didn’t work. The Jim Bertolino harassed my tenant wanna my tenant sue me. Jim lied that my agent asked him lie to my tenant, the truth is my agent only asked him to explain to tenant not all types tissues could dissolve in water. I won't take any threats from Jim, and I will report Jim to DPOR, I have all the evidences for court if it’s necessary. Hope public won’t take my terrible experience .

Jim was amazing from the beginning to end of his job. He was to explain the pipes in our new home and was very knowledgable about what was happening. We had a clog and I was afraid it was the main line. I am pretty sure his honesty and integrity saved us a bunch of money as he was able to find and fix the clog very quickly and at a great price. Mr. Bertolino was referred to us by our landlord. As part of his service, Mr. Bertolino did a full inspection of the plumbing at the property we rent and advised us of issues of concern. We have been having constant blockages of one toilet in the house, which is cheap substandard toilet at 1.2 gallons per flush. He fixed drainage issues, repaired a bubbling and gurgling toilet and corrected Master Bathroom sink stoppers, that had been installed incorrectly prior to our tenancy, and that were installed in a manner that prevented us from unclogging the sinks on our own. Mr. Bertolino and his assistant left the premises clean and took care not to track any debris into the house or cause a mess. They were masked the entire time and followed CDC covid-19 guidelines as they worked. We have already recommended Mr. Bertolino to friends and family who are local homeowners for all their plumbing needs.

Jim Bertolino of Bertolino & Sons Plumbing came to check on my flash hot water heater and fix a leak in the dishwasher line. He called and talked to Takagi on my behalf and then fixed the leak under the sink. Total work time = less than 30 minutes. Total time on the job = about one hour.

We awoke with no hot water and called Jim. He was there by noon and diagnosed the problem as a burner control problem on the hot water heater. The heater was still under warranty but when Jim called the manufacturer, they tried to claimed the warranty was void because the installation was not to code. Jim knew better and persevered up thru the manufacturer's management chain until it was resolved in our favor. I am sure that less professional plumbers would have tried to sell us a new heater.

Jim and his company do great work, they show up when they say they will, they give you a detailed estimate and stick to it. I have had to call Jim two times (different issues) and will be my first call the next time I have a plumbing issue.
He is not going to be your cheapest option, but he will provide the best quality and peace of mind. I have a condo, but am frequently out of town and rent it out on a weekly basis. I trust him to go into my place when he says he will, evaluate the issue, give me a complete price, do quality work, send me pictures or video of the working repairs, and leave a clean work space. I do not have to worry that the work is going to be done well and on time.

I had Jim come to my house to clear a drain, after running the line he stated I could use a pressure push to really clear it out, for an additional $130I declined the service but ask my drain is clear so I can run my washing machine. The issue I had explained to him. He stated NO WE DO NOT GUARANTEE a clear drain. STAY AWAY THIS GUY IS A RIP OFF!

I appreciate that Jim, made time for me in his busy scheduled after only speaking with him on Wednesday he scheduled me for a Friday appointment. He called to let me know he was on his way and arrived with the time frame he gave me. He was courteous and polite. The problem he thought, I was having with the toilet was correct. He identified the problem told me about it and went to work He had to repair the flange in the toilet stool and I saw it was a messy job. He showed me the problem and explained the reason for it and fixed it. He secured the toilet and the toilet seat and give me a flushing tip. He left no mess, he cleaned behind himself. He also, gave me so helpful information about my hot water heater when I asked him. He comes highly recommended

My tenant complained about a smell coming from the bathroom. Jim told me that he needed to tear a hole into my ceiling from the first floor and reconstruct the entire base of my toilet on the second floor because there was a crack somewhere. He first charged me $250 for an initial diagnosis because it required taking out the toilet and looking inside. He did not conduct a smoke test to definitely identify where the smell was coming from. He quoted $1500 to repair everything, not including the drywall and patch work that would've been required by tearing into the ceiling.

I called another plumbing company that went in and performed a smoke test for free and identified the problem immediately. They charged a less than a 10th of what Jim was charging me and all they had to do was reseal the wax on the toilet.

I do not recommend Jim at all. He talks a lot and tried to make it seem like the problem is much bigger than it is. I was disappointed by his work and his customer service.

Jim himself came out and installed a new garbage disposal for me. The unit I had prior was leaking and had a corrosion inside causing a the leak. Jim explained this to me and replaced my garbage disposal in a timely manner. The price was reasonable and fixed prior to performing the job and he spent many hours over a 4 day period to resolve the issue without increase in price. I would recommend him for plumbing and leak work.

Jim, came and fixed my kitchen sink drain he was very professional and very knowledgeable on everything to do try to clear the sink block it. He got it cleared and suggested other alternatives if it was the clog up again to help with cleaning it better due to the unique situation of my kitchen sink with no clean out. My hot water heater needed to be replaced. We called a few plumbers for estimates. The first plumber looked at the heater and within five minutes said he was turning down the job because it was too complicated and time consuming due to the type of heater and it’s location. Jim came by and took a look. He not only accepted the job, he did it for a great price and he and his son had the heater upgraded and replaced within hours the next morning. They were awesome! Jim is truly a master plumber and I was greatly impressed with his knowledge and work. In the future, I won’t bother calling anyone else when I need a plumber.

Jim and his son Jimmy came out to replace our hot water heater. We live in a town home and for some reason the hot water heater is located in the attic.... extremely difficult to replace it. But they did a great job, came out on short notice, and were very reasonably priced, considering the sheer a** pain of where it was located. Definitely will use exclusively from now on and highly recommend.

My daughter just purchased her first home, the water heater and hvac were noted by the home inspector as old with possible issues.  I contacted Jim to come out and give them the once over.  Both he and his hvac contact came out promptly and gave me the low down. Jim actually called the water heater manufacturer to find out exactly how old the unit was since it wasn't labeled, turns out 21 years and well beyond it's normal life expectancy. Similarly the hvac was 22 years old. We had them replace both for a competitive price but I'm sure there were no shortcuts taken...solid, top notch work. I received before and after pictures, the work was prompt and everything was cleaned up afterwards. Great experience.

Had a toilet seal leaking and causing water to drain onto the ceiling below it had the home builders plumer come and quote fix the problem after cutting holes everywhere to find the issue. Few months later the shotty fix started leaking again of course now past the home warranty. So I called jim to get a real experts advice, when he showed up he took the toilet off and within minutes off having it off figured out that the builder had used the wrong sized toilet for the spacing on the flange to the wall. Once the real issue was discovered he recommend installation of a 10inch round usa made toilet to center the toilet over the flange properly. He accommodated my schedule and had some good conversation to boot would definitely recommend him to anyone.

THE ORIGINAL BERTOLINO!! Often imitated, never duplicated. :) The short answer is, I would 100% recommend Jim. I’m new to the area and just found my plumber. Jim did a great job and kept me informed, educated me, and most importantly took care of the problem. The story: Jim came over after the toilet and shower in our first floor bathroom backed up all over the floor...it looked like a cyclone of sewer waste hit our toilet bowl, and the shower looked like a sandbar with poop stains. The smell? Oof. Diagnosis was likely a clogged sewer (ultimately confirmed and cleared), Jim explained what he was going to have to do, and laid out best case/worst case scenarios. When the problem trended toward worse, he told me what he’d have to do next, and kept me informed the whole way. Also caught me up a little on VB. He even waited for the city to show up so they could clean the city tie-in area to make sure it was all clean. He even gave some suggestions on how to avoid going forward (we should probably have a pump...it’s a long line). If you need plumbing help, call Jim Bertolino!!

This guy charged me 800 and some dollars to repair a wobbly toilet and a leaking faucet. He also kept changing the price over and over again and was super rude. Don't know why It cost that much to repair both things. Will not use again. Keep your money!

Horrible service. First off I had to call and make sure they were still coming and he said they forgot. Spoke poorly on how the house was built. How i shouldn’t have done this, done that. Talked down to the guy that was helping him (who was not a plumber). Two hours and couldn’t fix the problem. But his aide did go in my attic and step through my ceiling and still haven’t been contacted about fixing it. All this for $700. I called another company and they came out and fixed it for half that. But Jim was adamant about me leaving a review.

My wife and I had just purchased a home only to learn two weeks after closing that our water heater was declared unsafe and needed replacing. After calling around for several quotes, the time and empathy Jim took to address our concerns and situation made it clear who we wanted to perform the job. He was BY FAR more engaged, informed on our problem, and knowledgeable about the best resolution for replacing a water heater that had been red tagged by the gas company. The before and after was remarkable. The work was top notch to say the least AND the pricing was amazing to top it off. Within a few minutes of replacing the water heater we were back up and running. There was no more smell and the quality of the worked performed was VERY apparent. Were there were caulked and glued tubes and other make shift worked done previously, we now had an efficient heater that actually looked as well as it worked. The added recommendations to maximize our system and lessen our expenses was just a very nice touch of grace. You can see when someone has a passion for their work and it's abundantly clear that Jim loves his work. I almost gave him a half a star less because I found he was a Yankees's fan, but the guy was just too good of a person to do that to. Lol. Extremely kind, polite, and professional. Absolutely amazing service! Jim and his son were so thorough and knowledgable. They worked hard to determine the source of our problem and stayed late into the evening to make sure it was resolved; not just a quick/bandaid fix. All along the way he explained what was being done. His was also very respectful of our home; and cleaned up after himself. Jim is not the first plumber out for this problem but I'm pretty certain he'll be the last!

The property manager for the townhouse we rent sent Jim Bertolino for a hot water issue we were having, but after working with him today, he will be my go to plumbing company for the home we are purchasing (where I get to choose who to hire). He called at 11:30am and said he could be at the house by noon, which was amazing considering the last plumbing company we used took DAYS to get to us. He introduced himself in the driveway, knocked his boots on the concrete and then wiped them again before coming in the house. Immediately upon seeing our water heater, he knew what the problem was and what needed to be done to fix it. He said that as soon as he got approval from the property manager, he could go pick up a new water heater, bring it back and install it - ALL SAME DAY. He was very emphatic that when he came back to install the water heater, he would place tarps on the carpet, not only where they would be working, but also anywhere they would be walking through. He made sure that I moved any valuables out of the way so they didn't accidentally get bumped into while he was maneuvering the new water heater into place. During this whole process, he made sure to call me and give me updates on the status of everything, even though that really isn't something he HAD to do. I have never been so impressed with a company's attentiveness to their customer - THANK YOU for making sure I have hot water tonight!

Mr Bertolino scheduled an appointment for the same day I called but wouldn’t set a specific time. When he arrived at 5:45 PM, I had to listen to about 20-30 minutes of his describing how experienced and knowledgeable he was. After that, he spent about 20 minutes unclogging my drain and presented me with a bill for $449.50 (including a $10 fuel surcharge and an upcharge for various other services).
The drain stayed unclogged for 36 hours- no warranty at all from Bertolino.
My advice- run very far away from this man!

Called Jim to repair a toilet and address my concerns about an aging water heater. He got me on his schedule rather quickly and showed up on time. Quickly diagnosed the toilet and repaired it. He then explained how he could attach a flood stop switch to my water heater so if it ever started leaking the switch would stop water flow in my house and limit water damage. He said it was a little pricey, but it is well worth my piece of mind. My neighbor recently had his water heater start leaking and the cost in damage is over $30K. When my water heater does expire, I'll be calling Jim for help. Thanks Jim!

I wanted to share my positive experience with Jim. My rental property developed a leak on New Years Eve evening. I have a regular plumber that I use for my general contractor business, but he doesn’t run emergencies. I honestly didn’t expect anyone to pick up the phone on NYE. I tried calling Jim after finding him on google, and he answered on the first call. He then asked questions to determine whether my leak was a true emergency or if it could wait. He even did a 3 way call with my tenant and quickly determined the leak was not an emergency. I was able to send my usual plumber out a few days later. Jim was very understanding. He probably saved me a few hundred dollars. Long story short we bought a new home and the plumbing was installed incorrectly from previous owners. He helped us find the issue and now is going to repair at a fair price. I am beyond thankful I contacted Jim Bertolino & Son Plumbing yesterday. I had a major leak that was flooding my house and he was able to be at my house in an hour. He found a leak in my hot water heater and completely replaced the hot water heater and welded new piping all in the same day. Jim was amazing, he made sure I was well aware of everything he was doing. I definitely felt like he was part of my family and was very dog friendly. He called people that he trusted to come pull up my floors and they were there within 30 mins. He made sure that the floor people were going to put my furniture on blocks so they didnt get water damage. Jim also realized that my A/C unit piping was not done correctly and is having someone come out and fix it to make sure I will not have future problems. We called Jim to fix what we thought was just a kitchen drain clog. He arrived on time and once he began working, he found out it was much worse than a simple clog. Turns out our plumbing in the kitchen was almost entirely corroded - 60 year old galvanized steel pipes! We knew this was a risk when we purchased the house but it's never a convenient time to repair something like that. He and his team walked us through every step of the process and took the time to show us exactly what he was doing as he was working through it. Cabinets and drawers had to be removed but his team put everything back in place exactly as they found it. They spent hours meticulously repairing all of the damage and had everything he needed (some really rare parts) on his truck. They were polite and courteous enough to make sure they didn't wake the sleeping baby (even played with our dog for a minute). When they finished, they spent extra time cleaning up. Everything is back to working as it should be and the kitchen was left spotless. You can tell he's been doing this for a long time... Only one I trust around here! Thankful for his solid work & expertise.

Had bought an electric stove and needed to have my gas line to old stove capped. They were very responsive, were able to move up my appt, and were very efficient. Will plan on using their services again.

We called Jim out to give us an estimate to run our gas line to the kitchen. He was fast, came out the same day and was up front about there being a service charge when he arrived to give the estimate. When he arrived he said that he wasn’t even going to worry about the service charge. He was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. We got our quote the following Monday and it was more than we felt we wanted to spend for gas in the kitchen, so we opted not to get the service. Because we liked Jim so much, we didn’t care to have another quote. If we were going to get gas in the kitchen we wanted him to do it. When we called him to decline the service he told us that we had to pay the service charge if we were not getting the service. This was fine with us as he did come out , on a Saturday, and put time into looking at the house. I would say the only concern in preventing me from giving a 5 was that one week after I received the invoice in the mail, he was calling wanting payment. I usually pay bills every two weeks in a batch and they just hadn’t happened yet. I had the money so it went in the mail. If the money was needed that soon, I wish he could have made that known and picked up a check from the house or something. I also wish when he was at the house he would have said “I’m not worried about the service charge as long as you buy the service”. I also think about people that HAVE to wait until they get paid to pay the invoice, but he may well work with those people. Overall, highly recommend.

Jim has been our guardian angel and since we bought our very first home this year. Shortly after we closed on our first home, our new washing machine caused a toilet line back up in an adjacent bathroom and Jim determined that our main sewage line needed replacement. What was at first a huge and scary ordeal became blessing in disguise in the end, because we had Jim there to help us. When the sewage line was dug up and completely replaced, we could see that that our front yard tree's roots had grown into the pipe and over time this effectively caused a clog in the home's drainage system.

Prior to even pursuing this option, Jim took the time to explain the issue in detail and process of resolution, which acquainted us with our home's plumbing and empowered us as first time homeowner's. Not only was he a godsend in upgrading our main sewage line, but he assisted us with our insurance claim throughout the entire process and literally saved us a small fortune.

Flash forward six months later and my fiancée and I learned our garbage disposal had been leaking underneath the kitchen sink which caused a mold issue as the leak was not initially visible to us. Prior to undergoing mold remediation, Jim examined the piping in the walls and learned that the actual cause of the mold issue was in fact pipes that had rusted through and were leaking waste water into the insulation. Once the remediation process was over, Jim visited us in late hours to accommodate us in his busy work schedule, continued to advise us of our options, installed top quality materials, and even tested his work afterwards to ensure quality control.

Jim really takes care of his clients and his solutions are extremely effective and built to last. Excellent Service. Mr. Bertolino went above and beyond our expectations. we had an old jetted tub that had many issues and needed replaced. He explained everything in detail as to what all was needed and rough timelines on when everything could be completed. Before starting anything he covered every inch of the floor him and his associates would be working on with tarps so to not damage anything. As he removed the old tub and discovered other issues he brought those to our attention and explained exactly what he was going to do to resolve them. Everything is complete now and looks amazing. As stated before he went above and beyond our expectations. I WILL definitely be recommending him to anyone I know who needs his services.

I broke the hot water valve on my kitchen faucet last Sunday while installing a new one and had water spewing everywhere (I was able to locate the main water lever in the garage and turn it off). Found this business on Google and gave them a call along with others. The price for inspection was cheaper than Roto Rooter, Michael & Sons, A1 Plumbing and a few others I called. Once he arrived and assessed the damage, he was able to fix the problem in less than twenty minutes. The plumber (I forgot his name) also recommended a better faucet than the one I was installing, so I decided to take his advice. His expertise and workmanship was outstanding and I highly recommended this business

I have used Jim Bertolino occasionally in the past and always found that he performed admirably. Jim has nearly 40 years of experience and is well-regarded by the city building inspectors.
This time we had a major plumbing issue involving a break in a 2 inch drain line that affected the utility room, kitchen and den areas of our home.
Jim diagnosed the problem correctly and accurately and began immediately to make the required repairs. He explained in detail verbally and in writing what was involved and the associated costs. He detailed each step with digital pictures which he supplied to the insurance adjuster and which I am sure made their job easier and quicker to resolve coverage.
The damage involved a significant inconvenience to our family but Jim did everything he could to minimize our unfortunate situation.
The repairs took several days and involved removing vinyl tile in the kitchen, breaking up the concrete slab, locating the damaged area, obtaining permits and inspection, replacing about 20 feet of drain line, installing fresh concrete and returning appliances to their appropriate places. During this time Jim and his employees worked diligently often into the late evening.
