Shafer Services Plus

I called three weeks ago to have my ac unit checked and maintenance. They dealt with my husband. Told my husband that we just needed to clean the unit and the filters. Did not charge for services then. Today my husband got home and it was 90 inside. I got home at 6 and it was 105. Tried calling and nothing. Called Elmer’s and in under 3 hours they were here…tell me how your tech did not see that the inside unit was rusted and on its way to compleat Death. Thanks to your tech this company lost out on a complete system replacement. 17 thousand dollars missed out. GOOD JOB!!!!

We had a complete AC replacement two years ago and the attached plumbing started leaking. Shafer was very responsive and got someone out to fix it quickly, even on the weekend. The plumber who fixed the issue was John B, he was very knowledgeable and explained everything along the way. He was able to repair and replace the plumbing quickly so that we were able to use the AC again. I was impressed the technician and with how quickly Shaffer addressed the issue.

They were terrific. John contacted us early to see if he could stop by BEFORE the scheduled appointment which was set for later in the day. We were extremely happy he called and met him within 30 mins. He looked at our water softener, tested the water hardness, and provided his expert opinion on multiple questions we asked. He was very personable and professional. All of his advice was greatly appreciated. He's provided multiple COURSES OF ACTION with sound estimates for each. He did not pressure is into making a purchase on the spot and encouraged us to review the estimates carefully before making our final decision. Normally, we expect a technician to be pushy and try to encourage an immediate purchase but he was the exact opposite. He was patient, kind, and very insightful. We would highly recommend giving Shafer Services a call him for any water softener, plumbing, out AC repairs.

I called Shafer Services for same-day help with a leak. Staff were polite & communicated times and what to expect. The plumber was outstanding. He was able to diagnose what was going on and provided guidance about the matter (ended up being a SAWS issue). His customer service was the best. I will call them again for my plumbing needs.

Very reliable and experienced team of professionals, from the Manager Robert, to the Pros out in the field - Brandon, and Andy. Shafer Services Plus had my unit up and running in no time. Scheduling was easy, with prompt appointment times. The Pros even rejected the low quality drain hose covers from the manufacturer and used their own Shafer Services superior quality covers - at no extra charge to me. I will always use Shafer Services for all my A/C and Plumbing needs, and recommend them to anyone who cares about quality, efficient services.

I had my foundation repaired because my house was sinking. While doing the repair, it appeared that the drain pipe was leaking. I called Shafer Services on Friday and they sent a plumber on Monday. The plumbing specialist did a thorough testing of the system and found absolutely no leaks. He did a very thorough job explaining what he was doing. I am very pleased with the outstanding service that was provided.

They came quickly and did good work on replacing my water heater. I was in a bind because it started leaking on a Sunday morning and I was going out of town Monday. So I didn’t have a lot of time to shop around.they charged me 970.00 labor to replace the heater which took them a little over an hour. I’m probably going to call a few places when I get back in town because I feel like they took advantage of the situation and charged me double what the job was worth….at least. Not a happy customer…will never use them again…and will bad mouth them to anyone who will listen forever…

The most honest and reliable company I’ve worked with. They are upfront about costs and what you do and don’t need. They won’t try and upsell. Had both my plumbing and AC worked on after a bad renter and they are on time and do very good work. The folks are really nice and polite and provide great customer service. Very impressed and they saved me money!

Great service by Mike and Sean and they responded quickly. Was thorough and used high quality fittings but you pay a price. I dug the hole. I located the leak before i called them but they did the rest.

I joined their service membership and have not been dissapointed. The plan is very affordable with options to pay monthly or yearly. They come out do a thorough inspection of your ac/plumbing and make recommendations on your needs. I enjoy doing business with this company. Their employees are very professional, answer all of your question and are not pushy trying to sell you a bunch of stuff. Today they installed a new watersoftener and filtration system.

The guy that serviced us, MICHAEL ZUNIGA, did an awesome job. We couldn't get our smart thermostat to work properly. Apparently some ants got into our breaker box and damaged it. I have never heard of such things. Michael came out and found the problem quick. He ordered us parts and installed it. Now we have heat during this up and down texas weather. Thats Michael my family appreciate it.

After having my Pressure Reducing Valve replaced by Scahffer. I called to three other major Plumbing companies in the San Antonio area. I got quotes from 460.00-599.00for the same job. Schaffer charged me 942.00 for the repair. Do your homework and get estimates. Lesson learned. I will not use this company again.

Nick and Sergio were on time and did a great job. They left a spotless work area. They explained everything they did. They documented their work with pictures. Nick was the lead and was superb.

I will use them again.I had occasion to call the manufacturer, Rinnai, and the technical support person asked who my plumber was. High pressure from my irrigation system caused a broken pipe in my front yard. JP came out on a Saturday and took care of the repair. He was on time and took care of the problem promptly. Many thanks!

Tyler initially came over to evaluate the plumbing at our new house. To make a long story short, he was absolutely amazing. He diagnosed the problem quickly and was able to come out the next day with Sergio (also an amazing guy!) and provide a fix for our plumbing. Not only were they able to fix out blockages, but they were also able to troubleshoot additional systems in the house to ensure that our AC and plumbing were good to go.Shafer Services Plus was quick, efficient, friendly, and a absolutely fantastic with regards to their customer interactions. We can't recommend Tyler enough. He is awesome!

Had a clogged toilet at my office. Tried to snake it myself but couldn’t get it cleared. They came in had to bring in their half inch cable to unclog the plug. Did a great job, cleaned up after themselves. Minimal noise to the office. They were working hard so I appreciate their efforts. Will definitely give them a call for future needs

Very troubling blockage of washing machine drain from years of never having it cleared. Was lucky enough to draw Andy, a customer oriented caring Technician. He explained to me the necessary actions to clear with necessary looseners (Chemicals and performed a hot water flush). I had been worried about this for weeks. Mission accomplished. Highly Recommend Shafer! I had a water heater bust at 4 in the morning, Shafer was quick with a response! I had my water heater installed the same day! Chris Salas was my installer and he was amazing ! He was very knowledgeable and kept me updated with the process. Answered all of my questions thoroughly! Before installing my new water heater Chris even cleaned my dusty utility closet. Even after the install there was no mess! Chris left it like there was no one even in my house! A leak was repaired with new pipe under our house. The service call was prompt. The only issue we have with the service is there was a $411 fee for having to go under our house. Maybe that is typical in this city but I will check around and be better prepared for who to call the next time we have a leak in this old house.

My outside faucet would not shut off, and water was dripping at a rate of 10 quarts in 20 minutes. I called Shafer Services, at first they didn't have an opening to have the plumber come today, but then the supervisor said they did have an opening and that a tech would be here between 8a-10a. Thank goodness for Colby! He had the leaking faucet removed and a nice shiny brass hose bibb installed and ready to go. He was very pleasant and a very quick and efficient worker. The woman who answered the phone was also very nice and she got me all set up with the appointment. Thanks Colby for taking away the stress of all that water leaking away! Thanks Shafer Services! Professional, friendly, on time and very knowledgeable!

My service tech was very professional, and open about the services that they were going to provide for me today. My service tech changed out my filters and brought down the used ones to dispose of into the trashcan. My service tech provided me with cost estimates for further repairs. Along with the cost estimates, my service tech provided a rational explanation as to why these services were necessary. Overall, my service tech was not pushy about the sale of new installations. When service techs are pushy about installations and other services; those actions are a big turn off for future use. The professionalism conducted by the service technicians is greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: Refund has been received. I am very pleased.UPDATE: I just received a call from the President of the company and was told that I will receive a full refund! I wanted to pay the $60 fee at least but she said no, they will make it right and that happy customer is their priority. Amazing! Once refund comes in, I will adjust the star rating.BEWARE of the very misleading coupons on the coupon page. I expected a charge of $60 (didn't read the DISCLOSE/fine print). The plumber was great/nice and confirmed what I already knew. That confirmation cost me $570.50. The problem (underground leak between main and house somewhere...probably under sidewalk/slab) still exists. Lol. I'm mostly angry at myself. Like all of us, I didn't have any fight left in me during service call and agreed to the estimate to FIND the leak (the estimate was between $570 and.. I forget... ~ approx $1580). Lastly, the receipt I received via email has previous owner (or some random lady) listed. I'm usually smarter than this. I think it's the heat. : )

Tyler has been twice to our house. The first time he came he made a preliminary evaluation of the problem with the plumbing underneath our house and identified the tools that he needed to make a thorough inspection. He came back with the tools that he needed, explored the plumbing thoroughly with a scope, and then sat down with us and slowly, and explaining every step he needs to take to install and entirely new plumbing system, he built the budget and presented it to us. At every step he explained the options available, and at the end he explained the ways in which we could pay. We decided to finance the work, so he helped us contact a financial services company. We filled out the application and in a few minutes the financing was approved. I must emphasize that he presented us with all of the options available without pushing us one way or another. I must add that even during the first time he visited our house, we felt he was our friend and advocate. We also had the chance to talk about non-plumbing issues of common interest and concern, and during those extracurricular conversations I discovered that Tyler is driven by an attitude of service, I do not think I exaggerate by saying that serving others is for him a vocation, and that is the reason why he enjoys everything that he does. Everybody remembers the commercial of an insurance company that said you are in good hands with the good hands people. Well...I am going to sort of plagiarize de commercial and say that we are in good hands with the good hands of Tyler!

Benjamin was great. Hit the appointment window. Confirmation Call just before arrival. Knowledgeable. Conversant. Accessible. Agreeable. Knowledgeable. Helpful. Good experience with Benjamin (and Justin) when they where with Brown A/C and this continues under The Schaefer Services.

The crew showed up within the window given. Did the task, explained our new system, cleaned up took our old system away. They said they would be done at 4 and they were done. I normally don't give 5s but in this WELL DONE.Leo came out, diagnosed the problem and had hot water by the end of the day. They deliver on their promise.

The Tech Ab performed the AC HVAC check, identified poor performing aspects of the system, explained them to me and made corrections as approved by me in a efficient manner.

Clean install inside and outside for mini split system. Very courteous and patient with answering all my questions before and after install.

This office is very disorganized! Never given an update when part would be replaced and today they returned and didn’t have a clue that someone had been to my house prior and was there to put in the part ordered! They love to text but I don’t think anyone reads your reply! I hope the air conditioner is working but don’t think I will ever call them again.

Had a technician out on the 21st to figure out why my AC system wasn’t working. He did find the problem and replaced it before ever talking to me about the cost. How do decide to make a repair before talking with the homeowner??? I later found out I was charged a lot more than it typically runs for the the capacitor to be replaced. He also advised me my TXV needs to be replaced and I was quoted a little over $1,700. A quick search online today after talking with someone else who is familiar with this repair and found out that the average price is $350-$450 for that replacement. Seriously??? Why almost triple the amount? I will never go through this company and will make sure none of my friends, families or clients get taken advantage of by them.Oh and I was supposed to get an email confirmation/receipt of everything and never did.

We’ve had 2 very good experiences and 2 not so great experiences, but the Shafer staff is very responsive and quick to get us scheduled. The first time we called on Shafer they came out and explained everything to a T. Our issue was resolved. After installing a whole new a/c system (from another company), that system started dripping from the secondary drain. We decided to have Shafer come out, but this time the guy showed up at the wrong time, did not have the specific bulb we asked for when scheduling our appt, and cleaned out our drains, supposedly being the thing that would stop the secondary drain drip…which it did not! We had to call back to set up another appt to get our UV bulb replaced… and to hopefully stop the dripping once and for all. They sent the same guy, but I was still ready to give him the benefit of the doubt. He did not explain much to me, but he did come with the right bulb this time. Alas…a week later STILL DRIPPING. And even more. I called AGAIN and requested another technician come out. They sent AB who was very thorough and he explained things to us and showed us pictures of what he was talking about. The drip stopped since he left the house an hour ago. We are hopeful!

I prefer established companys for local services, so when Trane recommended Shafer's, I checked the BBB and they're rated A+ and reviews gave a 4.91. Also been in business for 137 years!

I called Shafer to replace my AC Unit. They immediately offered to send someone to check it out free of charge. They were professional, clean, organized, knowledgeable and more. They were also able to keep the noise down to a minimum being there is a newborn in my house at the moment :-). Andy and his Assistant worked great together. They were steadily working non stop to replace my AC in an efficient and safe manner. I strongly recommend them for your AC needs. They also use TRANE Brand Units which are great to my knowledge. My a/c unit went down & they sent us a repair person. We had a condensate drain that was clogged causing our unit to shut down. Mr. AB came quickly & figured it out. He went above & beyond & flushed it out. We truly appreciate his professionalism. I highly reccomend this company

They gave over estimation. taking advantage of the situation. They quoted me $850 for $200 worth of repair, to just replace watcher between male and female connecter near water meter. I will not recommend this company for any plumbing repairs.

They did a plumbing check up today.They were on time, polite and did a good job.In January 2017, Shafer Services installed a new air conditioning system and I am very satisfied with it. (Booth, Augie, Rick, Krystal, and Armando) were on the team that helped me select a system, answered phones, scheduled appointments, installed and inspected my new system. They were all polite, professional and neat. I have been a Shafer customer for years. Thank you.

Unfortunately, I’m having to revise this review to reflect challenges and delays experienced once the initial work completed. Schafer was incredibly responsive to schedule and complete the initial work. The technicians in the field are highly professional and courteous. The initial work, including scheduling only took about 2-3 days. Very good.Unfortunately, it took another 16 days and 2-4 phone calls per day to actually complete the work. After waiting a week for city inspection I finally called Schafer to check the status and the inspection had not been scheduled. Once it was scheduled the work failed inspection twice. The failures weren’t the upsetting part though. It was the lack of follow up and delays that became so frustrating. If I didn’t initiate the contact to them, it would take a full day or longer for them to return a call. Because of that, the work that was already finished, and only needed inspection, took over 2 full weeks. So frustrating especially given the amount paid for the service. The value was nowhere close to the cost. It doesn’t appear this is a common experience considering their online reviews; and as stated before, the technicians were highly professional and courteous, but unfortunately it was my experience with Schafer Services.

Franc with Shafer Services was timely and arrived immediately when expected. Likewise, he and his colleague observed excellent safety protocols with masks and other protective gear. Furthermore, Franc did an excellent job diagnosing, finding, and repairing the leak in our wall. We were very impressed with his level of service and courtesy. Highly recommend Franc!

We did not have money to replace or finance a new AC so I was nervous to call anyone. We were seriously on the verge of doing a window unit for the summer. Called Shafer and they had our current AC up and working same day for a very reasonable and fair price. I highly recommend this company! When we do need a new AC on the future or our next repair I will absolutely call them again. Very good experience.

I have used Schaefer services to help me get my home ready to live in after renovations. My brother used Shafer Services before and when I bought the home from him and he referred me to them. They’ve been very helpful and Ryan came today to hook up the sink and disposal in our new kitchen. They were prompt flexible and timely and got the job done well. We will continue to use them in the future.

My water pressure regulator sprung a leak and was flooding down the street. I called Shafer Services and there was a truck in front of my house within 10 minutes. Ismael and his helper got right on it and completed the job within one hour and at a good price. Their performance was consistent with all the other services I have had performed by Shafer Services over the years. I highly recommend them.

He and his partner were courteous, professional and finished quickly, cleaning up after themselves and leaving my home cool and comfortable.EDIT: After contractors damaged a component of my brand new, week old Trane system, JW came amazingly fast and fixed the issue in 15 minutes, getting our system back to cooling our home. He was friendly and courteous and made the repair quickly. I cannot express how happy I am with the service Shafer has thus far provided. Just far and away better than any other service company I've ever had at my home. Thanks Shafer!

I had several plumbing issues that needed repair. David, the technician who came to my home, was very polite and conscientious. He listened carefully as I explained the work that I needed, made his own assessment and supplied me with and estimate immediately. He was very professional and efficient. The repairs took much less time than I had expected. I would recommend this company to my friends and family.

I had a great experience beginning to end with everyone I dealt with. From the people who answered the phone to the multiple technicians that came out to check my AC unit. They gave me multiple options and explained everything thoroughly. They never rushed their work or explanations. I will personally be using this company for any AC/plumbing needs moving forward. HIGHLY RECOMMEND: I called over the weekend and got a call back within minutes and a plumber over to the house that day and a new water heater installed and operational the next day. The dispatcher (Robert) and the plumber (Frank) were extremely nice and easy to work with. The pricing was reasonable and even more so when you take into account their service and great attitude. I would recommend Shafer to anyone.

At about 4:15 pm on 2/4/22 we discovered a leak on the side of the house. A section of PVC pipe had burst. The pipe was used for filling the pool. It had its own valve and connected to the copper feed from the street. I cut off the water at the street and then started calling plumbers.Schaffer, which I called about 4:45 pm, was the only one of three companies we called that could make it out the same day. (Everyone was very busy because of freezing weather). They said they’d be here between 5pm and 7pm. They were here around 5:45pm. They capped the copper that fed the PVC and we were done. They also did a number of other checks.The phone attendant was really courteous, and took the time to find an available plumber, after I explained that it was probably a 20-minute job at best (which it was). The plumber, John, was professional, courteous, and explained everything to us perfectly clearly regarding what we needed to do next, etc. I couldn’t have been happier with the response and the service, especially with the prospect of going without water for anywhere from 2 to 5 days again (After the Feb 21 snow event/loss of water). The invoice we received in email was detailed, and included a number of high quality photos of the repair site.After a really, really bad experience with another A/C and plumbing company last year, Schaffer was a refreshing change.

Our technician Ryan was exceptional. He came out on a Sunday evening at 6:30 pm and provided excellent service and couldn’t have been nicer. We initially were going to go with another company that recommended a total replacement of our A/C system but wanted a second opinion. We called Shafer and Ryan was sent out. He took a look at our situation and after about two minutes he says “I think we can get this running”. Lo and behold we had cold air in the house after about an hour and at a fraction of the cost. I’ll be using Shafer and asking for Ryan again.

Shafer Services came to the rescue when we bought our home. I had smelled gas at the hot water heater and they sent Franc who quickly diagnosed and repaired the gas line.On the same day our AC went out. Jason gave me a thorough explanation of the issues and their repair. When we decided to replace the unit Mike came and helped us explore our options. Augie was out to install the unit the next day.I am very impressed by the professionalism and courteousness of all the Shafer team. Being new to the San Antonio area with the challenges our new home has presented, I am thankful that Shafer Services was recommended to us.

Shafer did a great job. I called out a service technician while my husband was out of town. They didn’t charge for the service call and fixed my ac unit. The next day I had an additional problem and the same tech came out and took care of us on the spot. Even explained everything to my husband over the phone. The tech was personable and the work was done well. Will def use again. Oh, AND they honor military by offering a discount!

The HVAC estimate gentleman was great. They were sent to me by Lowes, but must of not explained that I wanted a estimate for installing a unit from Lowes. If I ever won the lottery I would definitely use their services.

Excellent end to end experience. We had our 4-ton split die and Booth came in and spent hours getting everything sized up. Within 48 hours we had a new AC/Furnace installed. Steve, Augie and Chase were excellent installers. Walked us through everything. The installation was smooth and everything was cleaned up perfectly. Based on previous vendors, Shafer is top notch. I always say: you always get what you pay for. While Shafer may seem premium compared to some others - it is for a reason. I would not hesitate to get them again since I know it will be done 100% right. In fact we are going todo the second unit shortly with Shafer as well. Recommended!

We had emergent service when our AC stopped working (of course in the summer heat!). It was an old system. A staff member came out immediately. He was very professional and explained the problem thoroughly. He gave us options. Our heating and cooling system was replaced the next day on a holiday weekend... They jumped through hoops to ensure we had AC as we had a high school graduation party planned on Memorial Day. Augie, Chris, and Joaquin were very respectful, professional, personable, and expertised. They answered any questions we had! Five Star Quality and Service! I highly recommend them!!

Aaron, arrived on time and did an excellent and over the top job, inspecting and replacing the new part. I am so happy my system is up to par and working properly. I am so happy with the work Aaron did on our system and excited to know he is our current technician.

Two days ago I sent a negative review. The next morning I got a phone call from the company ; they wanted to know what prompted me to write such a negative review. After explaining why I had done that the person that called offered to do whatever I needed to make me change the bad impression I had of their company. I was very impressed with his call. They sent someone else again to my house with out a charge and tried their best to find what was going wrong. Contrary to a few days ago I know think that Shafer is an amazing company who really cares about its clients. I have never experienced such a great response from any company. I would now give them a 5 star rating.

I highly recommend Shafer Services. Needed my ac serviced and was able to get a technician out within the hour. Rodney was kind, professional, and quickly got my ac back to cooling. I was so impressed with the outstanding customer service that l signed up for a membership. Very reasonable membership, compared to other companies who make you think you’re getting a great deal, until something needs repairing. You absolutely get what you pay for with Shafer, excellent service.

Had the entire HVAC system replaced, the guys on the crew were all courteous, knowledgeable, efficient and knew their work well. Andy patiently answered all my questions, and showed me what I needed to know on the new system. They also kept things clean through the whole process, the install was in the attic, and after there was no clean up for me to do, they were very thoughtful, definitely pros with an eye for the details.

I called about a blocked main drain on a Sunday late night, and they were able to come first thing early the next morning.Problem found and fixed in 1-2 hours.Jay who was the plumber, was very knowledgeable and courteous.I would highly recommend Shafer services!

The plumber came out as promised and explained options and solutions unfortunately that's as good as it got. He replaced a water heater but failed to attach the exhaust pipes to vent properly. He also removed a faulty filtration unit and put a bypass in, but that leaked. I called and he returned to fix the leak but after he left it started leaking again. He told me they would reimburse me for parts I purchased to fix the problems they left me with but have not heard back.UPDATE:I did receive a call back from the company and was compensated for my time and parts. The person I spoke with was personable and went the extra mile to make sure I was happy and would consider using their services in the future. It's nice to know there are companies still out there that put customer service 1st! Yes I will call them again when I need help!Thank you. RECOMMENDED

Franc did a great job getting several issues solved in a short amount of time. It was great to not to have to wait while he ran to get supplies like some technicians will do. I deduct one star not for Franc's service but the company Shafer. Be aware that they will change your appointment time without updating you (has happened to us on several occasions for several different service lines). When we called to check on our 0830 appointment with a plumber, the lady answering the phone was short with my wife and merely told her, the technician is still on his first job. When I later called for an update the gentleman that answered the phone informed me that we were a 1200-1400 appointment! Changed without warning to us. We had set up first appointments of the day with plumber and HVAC service lines as the house we were having serviced is empty and someone would have to wait around for the technicians. Shafer isn't the best value, but overall the most responsive and so we have stuck them out.

Everyone worked hard and got the job done quickly. Their estimated time of completion was spot on. The pricing and service were absolutely fair and reasonable. John checked things out and determined that he needed to call in a specialist to handle my tankless water heater problem. I appreciated his honesty and the fact that he extended the service call so that the $60 service fee would not be due until the specialist comes to address the problem. So, while John was not able to fix my problem, he assessed it, and I am hopeful the specialist he is sending my way will be able to fix it.Ismael got my tankless water heater cleaned out and functioning properly, and he diagnosed the problem that is causing the water coming from my faucets to be cooler than the water coming out of the water heater (to be addressed by my regular plumber). He was thorough and professional, and I greatly appreciate the service he provided.

Rodney and Robert were first of all, on time, right at the time that Adam said they would arrive. Second, they were very professional, courteous and respectful. Before they entered my home they put on their shoe covers. Rodney and Robert are exceptional representatives of the Shafer Company. They are smart and they have great customer service skills. They listened closely when I spoke to them, they answered all my questions and explained those answers thoroughly. They were very knowledgeable of the HVAC systems and alway told me what they were doing or what they were about to do. They made me feel very aware of all options that were available to me for any repairs that might be needed. He documented everything relating to our problems with the system so that there would be a clear history of his visit for future reference. I was very comfortable with their demeanor and character. Their performance and conduct were excellent. Everyone that I have ever dealt with from Shaffer have all been amazing and Rodney and Robert were another example of great customer service!

8 Jul 19 - Another outstanding visit. It's been a while since I posted but Rodney continues to provide outstanding service...would recommend him for any AC job out there. Also appreciate the plumbing crew (Franc) that came out to do my annual inspection - thanks for being thorough!-----3 Jun 14 - Had a full Daikin A/C install and complete duct work replacement on one system in my house before the Memorial Day weekend. The Shafer team did a great job with the install. Booth talked with us about what we needed to do, and did not pressure us into anything. His system design is working well. Hector and Charlie were very professional and worked through a few issues with my older home to get things done right. Had one worksite accident with a new employee knocking out a ceiling sheetrock panel in the garage, but Shafer stood by their word and repaired the ceiling quickly and to our specifications. The foreman, Steve, was professional, listened to my concerns and addressed everything. I'm very pleased with my choice in air conditioning professionals.8 May 14 - Great A/C check today. Rodney took care to check out my concerns with the system and taped a few spots that were pretty hard to reach but were obvious leaks in my A/C system. I appreciate Rodney's thoroughness and have recommended Shafer to my friends.

Jay showed up promptly and was able to diagnose our main concern quickly (an air hammer in our line). He went out and retrieved the parts to fix the problem. Additionally, he pointed out issues with our water heater that our previous contractor failed to address, thereby preventing possible safety issues later on down the line. Would highly recommend working with Shafer again.

I needed a whole home plumbing inspection for a new construction home I planned on closing in the next week, so I hired Shafer Services Plus to do it. The inspection was done today on 04/26/22 by Tyler. Even though I couldn’t be there in person for the inspection because of work, I am glad I still scheduled the inspection for today. Tyler was amazing and was extremely thorough. He updated me on what he found during the inspection and really helped me understand and learn what his findings were and what that meant for me as a homeowner. From the phone conversation alone, it felt like I really had a personal advocate in this whole home buying process , and that I was making an informed decision. I wish all contractors and technicians had his level of professionalism and level of motivation. When I did ask a few questions, he really took the effort and time to answer them without brushing the question aside. Finding good contractors and skilled tradesman is difficult, so I am more than happy to have had Tyler do my plumbing inspection. I will be requesting him for any plumbing services in the future. I hope Shafer Services Plus recognize him for his quality work and professionalism. Even though he could’ve given me a brief simplified explanation of the inspection, he went above and beyond to ensure I understood the inspection report before proceeding with closing.

Our upstairs A/C (where all of our kiddos sleep) went out late Saturday night (after 104 degree weather all day). I called numerous A/C repair companies to get someone to come out ASAP and none of them were either A) Friendly B) Never returned my call or C) Didn't care about my problem. That is until I was able to speak with Jimmy Shafer. I called their emergency number and he returned my call within 15 minutes. He was very friendly, understood my desire to get it fixed and even spent a few minutes with me on the phone to see if there were any other easy things to try before they potentially sent someone out. He said he would call me back first thing in the AM to schedule a technician to come out.Sure enough around 8am, I got a call and a technician was at my door about an hour later (I believe it was Charlie). He was extremely friendly and was good with my 3 year old son who wanted to watch and help. We had it fixed within 30 minutes.I can't say enough how much service means to me and how great it is to experience it first hand when everyone else I talked to didn't care (in fact when I called the company who installed the unit, they told me oh, its a second unit, yeah that's not an emergency, we won't come out until Tuesday ). I was flabbergasted by that response, and I guess if you don't want my money, that's perfectly fine.Shafer will be the company I call from this point forward. Fanatical service at its finest.

Impressed with their customer safety concerns. I received a call before arrival to make sure I was not ill and was told that the services guys would have masks, gloves, and shoe covers on and they were also cleared with safety questions themselves. We have used Shafer for many years because of the quality of service and will continue to use them because of the care and safety of the customer...me.

Had a large leak at my main valve into house. Called Shafer and they had a crew out within 45 minutes. Both technicians were very polite and knowledgeable. Took them a couple of hours to replace the broken pressure valve. I’ve used Shafer for years for all plumbing, heating, and cooling issues. Service has always been exceptional.

This time, the company replaced an HV AC unit. They did it an under 3 hours and the tenants described their work like a polished NASCAR pit crew.I have never had a bad experience with Shafer. Their employees take the time to explain the problem and the options for repair.

Had a leaking sink at the galvanized pipe fitting where it connects to the steel hose and had to have them come out yesterday evening around 10pm. Very prompt service. Franc Rocha was awesome. Very friendly and quick service. Priced very reasonable for the fact it was after hours. He explained everything very thoroughly. If I have any future plumbing issues I would not hesitate to call them.

My service tech Ismael was one of the most friendly, and professional repairman I've used since moving to San Antonio 15 years ago. He had the problem diagnosed within 5 minutes after arriving. Having an uncommon problem the parts could not be obtained though normal channels. Ismael, and the crew at Shafer explored every avenue available to obtain the part. After an exhaustive search they found the part and worked late to install it restoring water to my house. Without Ismael's hard work I could have been without water for over a day or even days.

I’m very appreciative that Raymond Gonzalez with Shafer was able to get my furnace up and running just days before the big winter storm. He quickly and accurately diagnosed the problem-a malfunctioning circuit board on a 25 year old old furnace. He didn’t have the part stocked on his truck but he was able to find the part, pick it up from the warehouse and get it installed in my furnace before the end of the day. This was just days before the big winter storm. I don’t know what we would have down If that furnace wasn’t working. That was great dedication to his customer and I am grateful.

I had many, many problems with Radiant so called Shafer for help.Unlike Radiant, Shafer is very responsive; even when after hours issues occurred I can count on Shafer every time.Rock solid support, dependable and fair prices for their work which is always top quality.I won’t do business with anyone else besides Shafer.

Had a water heater that was overheating the water, call Shafer for a tech to come out and investigate, Key word Investigate- It's an automatic $60 dispatch charge. Two techs came out but only one did the talking. After providing a brief description of the issue to the tech, he stated that repairs will exceed $500.00, and presented me with options to buy a new unit. The tech looked over some valves, release some water & informed me that my pressure release valve was no good, no real troubleshooting was performed and no root cause was given, at the end I decline their services as I felt they did not have the customers best interest in mind but rather making a sale. Went with another company that came out on a Sunday with no dispatch charge and they got my unit back up and in code compliant in a 1hr 1/2 for way less and my pressure valve was not broken as the Shafer tech previously stated. My only regret was calling Shafer and wasting $60.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This is in response to the business owner of Shafer; I truly appreciate you reaching out to me.From our conversation, I sincerely believe that your business ethics is top notch and even though the service I received on the day of my issue was not to company standards, I am very impressed with your continue efforts to make everything right.For potential customers, it speaks volumes about a company that will go out of its way to correct their mistakes. Even though the service rep was quite competent. What I was charged for the condensation pump was more than double the average cost. Shafer takes advantage of the customer's needs by jacking up the price of parts. Especially when the need for the repair is most important to the customer.Before you use Shafer take time to breath and compare prices. If you don't Shafer will rip you off.

New ice maker, good technician but absurd cost. $821.00 for service call and two hours

When my AC system leaked in 2017, I called Shafer due to their online reviews and my semi-urgent situation. Unfortunately my system needed to be replaced. I was skeptical of the extent of work needing to be done, but not only did they provide me estimates using different systems, the technicians went through and SHOWED me what was not functioning, what parts would need to be replaced, and after totalling up all the repairs, and replacements, a new system was the better option both for my house and economically. Additionally, they noticed an issue with my water heater that and replaced a tube for me, because it was a simple fix and their technicians were very kind. I'm on their maintenance plan and they come out and check my system in the summer and winter. If there is an issue, they let me know, offer me options, and walk me through any steps I can take for preventative maintenance, and also routine inspection on my own. Every technician is friendly and on time (even when I'm late) and they are thorough. I really love this team. Vincent was the last tech to come out and he is yet another stellar employee, and embodies the spirit of excellence and customer service of Shafer.

They did a thorough inspection of the plumbing in my house and let me know what they saw and what I need to do to resolve the issue. There was no pressure to do the work and they answered all of my questions.

I have been with Shafer ever since they installed our air conditioner, many years ago (maybe 2008). They always treat us well and do their best to make repairs and maintenance affordable. They are polite and they care about our home, wearing footies when they enter and befriending our dog(s). They always give me information and / or pictures to back up what they say. I pay the monthly fee for yearly maintenance of each - heating, cooling, plumbing. They call and leave messages until I finally schedule my maintenance appointments (included in the excellent monthly fee which I forget but might be just under $20). I appreciate the reminders because I am terrible about making and answering calls, leaving my phone on silent all of the time.

The service from Sandra to Mike to John and those in between has been fantastic. They are friendly and knowledgeable. All questions were answered in a professional manner and options discussed. They were fast and effective. They did all the paperwork for a rebate that I didn't know I was getting. The AC unit and price was very reasonable and is working wonderfuly. The customer service is outstanding! I will use Shafer for any future needs and highly recommend them.

Our HVAC system cratered 2/13/21, right at the beginning of the Polar Vortex weather event. I contacted Schafer Services and they (Jose) sent a technician (Derek) who determined the system needed to be replaced. I wasn’t shocked considering it’s age. Derek got the emergency heat working so we wouldn’t freeze to death, lol! Derek helped us choose a new system and even arranged the financing that day! Augie and Andy arrived 2 days later to install the new system. Mind you, this was pretty much right in the middle of the terrible freezing weather conditions.They were awesome! Both men were professional, courteous, and informative. I can’t say enough good things about everyone involved in the purchase and installation of my new system. Thank you! Jay unstopped our sink and removed a non functioning disposal when I saw how nice the new drain ring looked I wanted a new one on the other side. He was already in his truck ready to leave but with no hesitation said sure he could do that and now my sinks look brand new. I really appreciated his accommodation so late in the day.

Jason came to inspect a floor furnace for one of my customers. This floor furnace is very old. Jason was very thorough and we are very pleased with the service that he provided. We highly recommend Shafer services to anyone who is looking for air conditioning and plumbing work. In the past I have used them several times for plumbing work on older houses and they have always been very successful.

John and Franc were great! I have used Shafer Services for many years for both my home and office plumbing needs. They always arrive when they say they are going to and they go above and beyond to help their customers. They are professional, courteous and don't leave a mess behind them, no matter what. Rodney was my technician and he did an amazing job. I had already had another reputable Angie's List company come out and look at my air conditioner, which was not blowing cold air. The other company told me I needed a new electrical part and quoted me $700 to replace, it plus labor. I was skeptical so decided to get a second opinion.Rodney came out to my house and spent an hour and a half just looking, testing and thinking. He was ultimately able to track down my problem to a blown 5 amp fuse; replacement cost of $0.50.Rodney also offered to sell me a new thermostat and service plan, and was not a complete jerk when I declined to purchase either. Instead he was gracious and even gave me his number to call in case I had any additional problems after he left.I own a business myself, and consider Rodney to have provided impeccable customer service and to be the kind of employee every business hopes to find to represent them.I would have awarded five stars, but the initial customer service representative indicated the technician would be out between 9 and 10 o'clock in the morning - and I missed a meeting to be at my house. Rodney was not able to get out there until after 2 p.m.....Shafer did call periodically throughout the day to keep me informed, though.

Had plumbing check. Got my call on time this morning. Franc did all the checks. Was super friendly and helpful. Fixed a slow drain issue and installed a new faucet that I purchased at Lowe’s. Been with Shafer for several years and always happy with the service the plumbers/AC guys have given me. U should give them a try.

Plumbing problem with outside water leak. John diagnosed it as a sprinkler line broken. He shutoff the water supply at the back flow. We said that we would dig it up to ascertain what needs to be done. He also installed a new cutoff valve in one of the toilets in the gym men's room. He stated that this toilet also had a bad flushometer because of the leaks around the piping. He suggested that we should replace the whole assembly and that we could do it ourselves or call Shafer Services to schedule the job. John did an outstanding job and gave us so good advice on how to proceed forward.

First off, they never answer their phones. Called and called and when someone finally answered, they wouldn’t even set an appointment for me. They stated they weren’t taking any new customers. I told them my father just used them. The person on the phone said I would just have to find somebody else. So I did and Air Today came right out with no diagnostic or trip fees. My father will be using Air Today from now on also.Instead of gaining a new customer... you just lost two.

I called after hours but got a very quick response. Ismael identified the problem and got replacement of my hot water heater scheduled early the next morning. He was skilled, efficient and very personable. I am very pleased.

I called Steve's Plumbing who had an awesone technician named Frank Ruhr. They are now Shafer Services. It took 3 calls and conversations to get someone to come out to look at our job. When they finally set the appointment I was relieved. The promised time was between 8 and 10am. At 9am of the sheduled day, I received a call, and was told that the days briefing just ended and the time was now moved to a time of up to 11am. At almost 3pm I'm calling to find out where my plumber is. The next day I'm calling to find out about my estimate. I canceled the request when I was going to get transfered for the 3rd time to someone who was supposed to have an answer.

This is my fourth time using Shafer Services. Each time, I have been impressed with the professional, courteous service. Their motto is to treat their customers like family and they truly do. I've worked with JP Beron twice and will seek him out in the future for all plumbing needs. He's a nice guy who attends to details with care.

Jp came.out to do maintaince on my 12 year old water heater which unfortunately had a leaking valve I wasn't aware of. He talked me through my options (very patiently) and I ended up replacing it. He was able to come back in just a few days and again was a pleasure to work with. Fantastic service!!

Frank was amazing! He worked hard to diagnose the problem. When he found it he was able to use a good process to fix the problem. Several weeks ago, read an article in the newspaper about Shafer Services, and was impressed that Shafer Company was providing their services for free to several SA nonporfits and families in need. Therefore, when our Trane A/c unit needed a motor, we immediately decided to call Shafer. Rodney, our A/C technician, came out at 6pm, diagnosed the problem and installed the motor the following morning.My husband is a retired a/c technician and he said it was very evident that Rodney was experienced and had much knowledge about air conditioning. Shafer Services was professional and first class in analyzing what I needed when my AC system was not working. I thought it was the thermostat but I have no technical knowledge. I just want my AC to cool!So Andy and assistant responded on a hot Saturday afternoon--a full hour before they were promised to arrive! (Who does that? Shafer Services!!!) They checked out my whole system not just the thermostat that I had requested they leave in when they installed my new HVAC system installed it for me. They wanted to install a new thermostat as part of the HVAC but I knew how to work my programmable thermostat and did I say I'm not very technical? So they let me keep my familiar thermostat; after all the customer is right, right?! So you guessed it; everything checked out great except my old thermostat which they quickly took care of.Then they patiently made sure I could program it. They did a fantastic job...5 star! Great Experience.

Augie and his team arrived ~30 min early (which I loved) and were finished In the estimated time allotted. They did an excellent job removing the old AC and installing a new system.August in Texas: extremely warm temperatures, heat index in low 100s. Due to their efficiency (& my well insulated house) I never really experienced any uncomfortableness while they swapped out systems. Mr. Scott, the technician who assisted us, is very professional and explained to me what the issues were in our system. He is the one fully deserved of the 5 star review. The staff at the Shafer Services branch on the other hand, are closer to a 2 star. They really need to learn how to communicate with their customers. I had to call them 3 times in a week to find out what was going on with appointment times and what was going to be replaced and when. Was very frustrating.

Franc Rocha was efficient, skilled, courteous, and punctual. He found and repaired a major leak that was beneath the house. To protect my safety, he even purchased boards to cover the hole in the floor at no extra charge, although he had to make an extra trip. He and his partner did excellent work.

This was the first time that I have called Shafer Services and spoke with Sandra A. and she was very helpful with understanding the problem. Jim L. from Shafer was assigned to come out and see what was going in with the heating unit. One thing that I really like about Shafer Services is that when they assign technicians they send you an email with a picture of the technician and a little information about them. Once Jim L. arrived he was very polite and knowledgeable about is work and it did not take long at all to diagnose the issue and was able to get the parts replaced within a couple of hours and I will most defiantly be recommending Shafer Services and Jim L. everyone that needs any air or heating repair.

I put off calling a plumber because I dread having strangers in my home and paying those high dollar prices. However, after meeting and working with Del I wish I would have called sooner! He was wonderful! Our water heater went out on a Sunday afternoon. My wife called called Shafer Services immediately after we noticed the leak, and they scheduled us an appointment for Monday morning. First thing Monday morning, Shafer called us and dispatched a plumber, Ismael, to our house to figure out what was going on and consult with us about what we needed to do. Shortly after dispatch, Ismael arrived at our house, checked out the water heater, and quickly identified the multiple issues it was having. He explained what would have to be done to service our existing water heater and then explained why replacing it was by far the most cost effective solution. He worked up a list of several replacement options, sat down with us, and patiently explained the pros and cons of each option, warranty period, etc. We gave it some thought, and after we decided on one of the options, Ismael got to work pulling the old water heater and preparing for the installation of the replacement water heater. Together with one of his co-coworkers, Franc, they had the replacement delivered and installed before noon. All told, it only took about 4 hours for Schafer to schedule a plumber, dispatch him to our house, identify our problems, consult with us on the solution, pull the old water heater, deliver the replacement water heater, and install it. This is the second time we've had Shafer do work at our house - first time was for an A/C system replacement - and once again, we found their service to be top-notch. Excellent job guys!

The second service call on my plumbing problem revealed the cause which had not been identified on the first call. Because of that, a call to the manager got a significant discount. The plumber was very polite and helpful. I'm very satisfied with the results.

I am extremely happy and impressed with this company and their employees!! We had a significant leak somewhere in our around our house. We have American Home Shield so we decided to try them first. The company they sent out were able to narrow down the leak to our old water softener to the meter but told us they would have to dig up our years and essentially destroy our brick garden to find the leak OR we could just opt for a completely new water line to the house which also result in major trenching and costly repair. We called Shafer on the recommendation of my dad and they came out the next day we called. Within 20 minutes of detection work Ismael and his assistant Tina found the exact location of the leak!! The next day their diggers came out to prep the area and the day after that they came out early and fixed the leak within an hour!! The cost for the fix was not as bad as I expexted, considering the first company was going to charge $295 an hour labor for the first hour and $195 for every hour after. They were very professional and explained everything in a way I could Understand. I was also impressed with their office staff. I spone to two people a woman (whose name unfortunately I cannot Recall) and Adan! They were both lovely to talk to, didn’t interrupt when I was rambling on and the communication between appointments was excellent. They didn’t give me a 4 or 5 hour window like most companies do. They told me a time and showed up on time or even earlier! I HIGHLY recommend Shafer Services for your plumbing needs and ask for Ismael and Tina or Adan to talk to in the office for scheduling!!- Liz Denner

Ismael and Jesus went above and beyond. Not only did they fix the leaky faucet, they replaced the old galvanized pipe at the meter. When there was an issue at the meter, they called SAWS. After the repair was completed, they cleaned up in the house and on the street. They were knowledgable and courteous. I will definitely use Shafer Services again.

Jim L performed our annual AC system check and was thoroughly professional throughout the entire process. This was done as a part of our annual maintenance agreement with Shafer Services. Shafer always sends excellent technicians, and Jim was no exception. He was pleasant, knowledgeable and thorough.

Our technician John Berron was on time, neat, professional, and very helpful explaining the work he was doing. He wore a mask, gloves, and booties, which helped us feel safe during these scary times. After he finished with our shower, he did an excellent clean up; you couldn't tell anyone had been working on the shower.

Ran into what I perceived as an emergency last night in that I didn't feel adequate cool air coming out of the vents. Almost 7:00pm and Shafer was there for me. Actual employee on the phones, not answering machine. Was fortunate to have John Noriega sent for the service. With the unit running almost constantly over the last couple weeks, he not only addressed the issue but in addition educated me on a couple simple maintenance items that I can do over the Summer. Another reason this evening why I have used no other company

I had to select “I don’t remember” to the technician who helped me question. But I DO remember (he just isn’t listed on the site but should be). Angel Martinez is the tech who helped with my emergency plumbing issue today, and he was TREMENDOUS. Not only was he courteous and quick; he was also very careful and thorough and explained all my options in PLAIN LANGUAGE so I could understand the problem and best possible solution. .This is a rental property and I was extremely worried about the condition and potential extensive damage of the property due to the water heater leak. Angel took control of the the situation, assessed and took action. He contacted his partners at Emergency Services Restoration and followed up with them regularly until they were onsite. He definitely eased my mind and concerns by the end of the service.I can’t recommend Angel Martinez enough for his competence, demeanor, and overall professionalism. Thank you so much and I will certainly work with him and Shafer again.

Service came early and the professionals answered all my questions and replaced the Entire AC unit Very fast. Now I got a New AC Unit that is more efficient, quiet, and worlds better then my older unit. Tried Will Fix It, and always got answering machines, and put on hold. I didn't have that experience with Shafer always spoke to a person, and was never put on hold. Also Tried WIlMack Services from Home Adviser first for a quote...and they came out Bashed the Goodman AC unit I had, said they were the worst AC units on the market, (maybe so) but wanted to give me a York AC unit and quoted me a price higher then Shafer Services told me to google York By Johnson Controls Systems... (Well I did).... I asked consumer reports about AC units and York was rated just as bad as Goodman at 30% failure rate at 5 years according to 100,000 units tested. When I told this to WillMack they argued pricing and said I was not thinking logically... they wanted to re quote me on a different unit but it was too late. was not impressed with the profesinalism, or units reliability on consumer reports... Trane according to consumer reports is second only to American Standard in AC units 2015.... so I trusted Shafer with installing a Trane at their proposed quote and everything was an easy and pleasant experience, the team at Shafer was professional and patient, answered all my questions, and overall did a great job!!!

Carlos F. came out for the A/C whole system check included with the service plan. With the system only being 7 months old, I figured the system check would simply be a visual check because of how new all of the components look. However, Carlos was very thorough and careful because of the age of the home - not just the system. He took his time and explained what he was checking, what I should look out for, and problems he commonly sees in old homes and homes in general.Carlos was also patient when I was giving him as much of the brief history of the system as I could remember, and made sure to check other components within the blower/compressor based on the information I gave him. This was my second interaction with a technician from Shafer Services and both have been stellar. I feel very comfortable in my selection of Shafer Services for my home maintenance needs and would recommend them to anyone.

Homeowners worts nightmare, your a/c going bad in the middle of the night on summer time! Next morning I did a search I found Shafer Services I gave them a called and immediately they scheduled me for the same day from 10 am when I called with a bad a/c at 1 pm my a/c was up and running again!! We had Shafer Services do a kitchen rehab: new sink, new sink faucet, new garbage disposal, and replacement of sink shut-off valves. A reverse osmosis system had to be disconnected and reinstalled as well. Shafer Services' plumbing techs involved were Chris, Tyler, and Louie. They were all super! Chris handled most of the installation work. Louie assisted. Chris and Tyler scoped out the project and Tyler obtained certain parts needed to complete the work. Rodney has been checking on my A/C unit for 7 years and has made various repairs to keep it going so that I got every last unit of cold air out of it! We needed to add a water line for our new fridge's icemaker/water dispenser. We thought we would have to go in to the wall to the water line in our laundry room (expensive) behind the kitchen. Ismael came over and said that the simplest and most cost-effective solution would be to run copper piping through the cabinets. We did this and it works great! Not only did I appreciate his honesty in giving us a cheaper option, but his professionalism in how the work was done. He was fast, efficient, friendly and honest. We will definitely be using Shafter Services again!

After purchasing a shower door from Lowe's, I had a problem getting them to install it. One of the employees at Lowe's suggested I try Shafer Services and she made my name and contact info available on-line. Shafer Services contacted me the same day. We set up a date and time, and Flip Ehrgott showed up at the agreed upon day and time. He took a look at the situation and gave me a bid shortly thereafter. I accepted the bid and he went to Lowe's and picked up the shower door, returned to my home and proceeded to begin working. After examining the directions he determined that the vertical part of the frame would require cutting. The 65 door as stated in the directions was actually 69 high. The opening was 66 1/2 high. Only a problem if the 69 frame could not be cut to fit the opening. A few very careful measurements and Flip was able to accommodate the door with actual opening dimensions. The installation went well and was finished in a reasonable time frame. Great job Flip! And thanks... I have more work for Shafer Services.

Chris Chamrad arrived on time and was professional. He took time to understand all the work order before he began. He also asked about any other plumbing problems I might have. So, not only did my 3 toilets get serviced, but he replaced the water filter on my refrigerator as well. He informed me that most of my household plumbing problems are secondary to not having a water softener. He checked at my request and found that my house was set up for one to be installed easily. I am considering having a soft water system installed. I am very appreciative of the information I received today and very satisfied with the work done as well.

Ismael went above and beyond to ensure that the plumbing repair of my water main leak was done properly. He had to return after the repair to replace a new part that wasn't working. He returned promptly and took his time to trouble shoot what was not working properly. He was very conscientious and ensured that everything was working properly when he left.

AC ducting inspection seems to be a mystery industry. After getting stood up twice by Larry Vollmer without a call or text or apology I was very leary of anyone doing ducting inspections. Before Mike got out of his truck we were joking like old friends. He showed up on time -wow-but even before that I got a call from Adam confirming our appointment-wow again. Mike gave me as much valuable information as I could take in, considering I knew very little about AC ducting. Said our system was fine, didn't try to sell me anything-wow-. Showed me how to seal up any possible leaks at the ceiling, the product to use and better types of vents to replace my old ones -wow- all things I could do myself. By the time he left I felt like I owed him but -wow- this was a free service from Shafer. 3 thumbs up even though I only have 2, and 6 stars.

They installed a mini split for my home 6 months ago and now problems galore. They came to do routine summer inspection of my home AC and magically my thermostat is fried. I come home to AC running on cool but thermostat has the house at 81 degrees. This was the first problem i have with them. Their technicians are liars and have no respect for the elderly. Timeframe provided for service was 10-12 and arrived at 1:30Pm for a second problem. They were pulling out of my driveway when my wife was turning in. Refused to acknowledge her and drove off. They said no one was home.... Regional manager replaced more than once. Has a lot to say about this company that continues to disappoint. Will not do business again with them. They were contracted by Lowes and they will be hearing from me as to the type of company they recommend to carry their name and quality of work.

We did like the service the we received for Shafer. Nick is a great service person, explained a lot about the AC units and what we could do to make them more efficient. We would like Nick to come back again when we need service.

These guys are absolutely amazing!! 10/10 in all areas! I had the pleasure of working with Grant and Nick and a few others, the last two days after a blocked pipe backed up into my shower and toilet. They all went above and beyond! They were kind, informative, professional, hardworking, and just overall rockstars! I live in a house that was built in the 60s that still has original cast iron pipes. They are much more prone to getting blockages and it was definitely a tricky situation. During the process my other toilet was accidentally damaged and these guys immediately brought it to our attention and with out hesitation said they would replace and install a new. They did so and made sure to get a brand new of same grade color and quality of my original! They got the blockage out even though it was much more difficult than they thought and they still only charged me the initial quote! Not one penny more! Stand up! They even made sure that my pets were safe and secured at all times and cleaned up after themselves! These guys will be my plumbers for life no question!

Booth did the best evaluation and solution proposal of 3 different companies, to replace one of 2 AC Units. Slightly higher cost than the other 2. Ralph and his crew came after that and did an excellent job, on time, and all seems good. Thanks Chase.

Once again, Shafer Services came through for us. Their technician, Abraham, did them proud. He inspected our HVAC ducts and vents to determine the cause of mold at some of the vents. He quickly found extensive mold in the main ducts of both of our systems. He arranged for a second level technician (Fabian) to come out (on the same day!) to do a more in-depth inspection and to determine corrective action. Fabian suggested that our old (26 years old) duct systems needed replacement.We've agreed, and the work will begin in 3 days! This is why we deal with Shafer Services...

The team was very professional and courteous. They called me a couple of days ahead of time to schedule a cooling service and then called with the technicians were an hour out. Both technicians were courteous upon arrival and efficiently did their tests advising the system was in good working order.

Our upstairs AC unit, an older builder-grade system, had a catastrophic failure the week before Easter. We received an estimate from two other companies and called Shafer for a third quote. Booth came out for the estimate at a time convenient for us. Booth was easy to work with and we decided to use Shafer for the install. They even did the install on Good Friday to fit around our schedule!Shafer's prices are competitive although not cheap. The other two similarly large and well-established companies quoted very similar prices utilizing Trane equipment.Shafer installs top of the line American Standard equipment. Their supervisor inspected the work after installation and had the crew come out to make a small change. The supervisor came back out to re-inspect and spent time fixing another small issue and ensuring we were happy.I could not be happier with the work and the service. Shafer's front office staff kept in constant contact with us throughout the job.

One of their drivers almost hit me going 65+mph on 410, barely squeezing in between me and the car in front of him. I've emailed the company to see to it that their drivers are more responsible on the roads along with a picture of the license plate of the truck and haven't heard anything back. I work in the plumbing/HVAC industry and will not be recommending their services to any of my clients.

I had my A/c checked by their tech, for a/c not cooling the upstairs, they checked it but could not find the actual issue, and said a/c is working fine, but under capacity for the size of the house.They almost convinced me that i need to replace the A/c. Then I had it checked by another company, they correctly diagnosed the problem and fixed it.the issue was with damper, after replacing it the house is cooling fine.

Professional, thorough, prompt and trustworthy services - Shafer Services Plus is my go-to company for HVAC and Plumbing. My HVAC system was alerting to a problem that stopped the system. Bruce came to my rescue by examining the system. He discovered a serious problem in my main electrical panel that interfered with the HVAC. An electrician came, replaced the panel and Bruce returned to complete the repair to my HVAC system. I would refer all to this locally owned and operated company!

They came out to my home near the end of the business day and did the job with high spirits. Frank made sure to advice me on methods and habits to ensure that my new Hot Water Heater would work reliably for years.He was a good service man and his apprentice was just as personable as he was. Both men were polite and willing to work.The fact that sticks out in my mind is the fact that both men were willing to clean up their mess without prompting AND still come across as cheerful guys.I will ask for Frank if I need another Plumber. I don't think there is a higher review than that.

So, Sunday morning I noticed that a fitting above the water heater was dripping. Called Shafer Monday morning and scheduled water heater replacement for Tuesday morning (I had planned to replace the water heater this year anyway). Larry and Adam arrived at about 8:15, got right to work, and finished in about an hour. What a wonderful morning! No muss, no fuss. Everything works. Shafer is my go-to!!!

On 4/13/2013, Chris Chamrad came to our home to flush out our Navien tankless water heater. He arrived on time and was professionally dressed. When he came into our home, he listened carefully as I described the maintenance our water heater required. After looking at the heater, he provided an accurate estimate and called a colleague to get the equipment he needed to perform the service. Chris finished the maintenance promptly and did not surprise us with extra costs. We paid exactly what his estimate had shown before the service was performed. We were very pleased with Chris s work and his professional demeanor. We would gladly recommend Chris to friends who need a plumber.

Had serviceman call to put sediment traps on gas lines for my two water heaters and two furnaces. I have a large house. My relocation company was requiring this before taking over my house.There must of been a communication error because he only did the water heaters. I asked about the furnaces and he said that type of furnace can't have sediment traps installed . The furnaces are horizontal and in the attic. Gas is supplied from below.I asked if he would put in writing that sediment traps aren't needed. He said he doesn't do that. Now I need to call a different company to complete their work.To make things worse, he didn't relight the pilot on one of the water heaters. We noticed that when we tried to shower before church. I had to go into a hot attic and getsweaty right before church.I'm very disappointed.

OMG, John and apprentice Joel were so efficient they were done in a short time. They explained what they going to do before hand. John explained how long toilets last, what can go wrong in time, and what will need to be done. Just knowing how much longer we have and how to care for these toilets is wonderfull. AB arrived to fix the water draining from our AC system through a pipe fixture onto our patio. The actual fix will be more complicated because of the age of the pipe under a sink where much of the water drains. After many years, that drain is likely not flowing very well and pretty corroded. We will fix that soon. Meanwhile, AB flushed out the drain and it will take care of the issue temporarily (this was a day of service call, so we appreciated the quick response and service). AB is very professional and explained everything very well. He’s a great representative for Shafer.Our experience with Shafer Services, and Franc Ochoa in particular, was excellent. Franc was terrific, and he worked incredibly hard every single day on our sewer line problem, which turned out to be a huge problem. Franc worked with Robert Robert Lang every day and they kept me apprised of all the issues. Franc was very helpful with all of the issues that came up with the plumbing. He handled everything very professionally. It was a miserable situation, but Franc made it far easier to deal with. I can't praise Franc enough. He is an outstanding representative for Shafer.

They state they have 24 hr technicians. I called at 9pm and they stated they would have someone come to my house. 3 hrs later no call, no texts. I finally received a call at 7am. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!!!!

Was told they couldn’t help me because I own an apartment building and we would ‘need a contract or something like that’ to work on an individual ac unit for an individual apartment. Even though their website clearly states that they service ‘multi family residential properties.’ The receptionist called 3 different extensions and then told me to go somewhere else because no one could tell her how to do her job. Laughable.

Shafer did great work installing new AC units and were very professional. There was one hiccup but they were very responsive about coming out to fix it right away. In the years since they have done a great job whenever they come out for the system checks. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable.

After deciding that it was time to replace the 17 year old air conditioning/heating system in our home, I went to the BBB website and picked out six companies (based on their ratings, customer reviews, and customer complaints). I prepared a detailed request for quote and sent it to each of these six companies. The first to respond was Shafer Services Plus. They were also the first to send someone to our home. Two of the companies did not respond. One company responded late, after I had already decided to hire Shafer Services. Two other companies sent people out and gave me quotes. The gentleman Shafer Services sent out (Mike D.) was very knowledgeable, and, honestly was head and shoulders above the other two gentlemen that came out from the other companies. The others were nice, and professional, but it was obvious to my wife and I they did not have the combination of experience and eye for detail that Mike from Shafer Services did. After considering three quotes, we decided on Shafer Services. It was an easy decision...their price was very competitive, and they were the only company that addressed each and every one of my concerns. The crew that Shafer Services sent out was outstanding....courteous, hardworking, and obviously experienced craftsmen....thank you John N. and Andy, for your hard work and attention to detail. We had busted frozen pipe since Monday. We called a different place but finally gave up on them and called Shafer on Friday morning. We had used Shafer previously for our hot water heater installation. Left a message with the receptionist at 8:30am Friday. Got a call back at 11:20am saying they were in the area and since the person they were trying to contact never responded, they could swing by my house. John B. stopped by and fixed the pipe that our insurance adjusted pointed out. John B. investigated more thoroughly and found a second pipe that the insurance adjusted missed. He fixed everything within a few hours and we finally have water again! So happy for the quick service and thoroughness of John B. He was polite, professional and we are grateful he spotted the second pipe that was previously missed. We definitely make sure to always call Shafer first for all our plumbing needs.

Had a leak in kitchen ceiling. A rather unusual cause was identified, having to do with improper installation of the water softener. While looking at the water softener in the garage, he actually identified a completely different leak in the garage having to do with shoddy home construction ( this is a relatively new house). He fixed both leaks. Cleaned everything up.

I had my semi-annual service done for my HVAC System by Shafer Service Plus- Tech this week. He was prompt so professional and respectful. He recommended a minor part replacement. I asked him about a total system replacement. He called and an amazing salesman came out to my house and went over all the options for me. There was no pressure and he was very professional and well informed. I purchased a system and today on Friday they completed the install. I wish I could remember the first two individuals names, but it escapes me at this moment. The crew today that came to install my new system were John Noriega (seemed like the supervisor), Eric Willett, and Chris White. I tell you, from the moment that I meet John at the door my and his team the encounter was awesome with Shafer Services Plus. They were friendly while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. John started the morning by reviewing the entire install process and how they were going to take care of the house (from wearing shoe covers to putting down tarp) and answering each of my questions with respect and courteousness. Every step in the installation of the furnace and A/C, was “prefect”, and I don’t use that term lightly or often. They started on time and completed the job almost to the minute the salesman the previous day had said they would (I wish I could remember his name). I would strongly recommend the Shafter Services Plus for all your HVAC needs company.In summary, this was the best service I have ever experienced. I have had a lot work done at my house over the years. I love for my house to look beautiful inside and outside. The technicians were so courteous. They were experts at what they do and it showed. Bruce showed up a day early while we were having intermittent outages. Bruce fixed the heater in between outages. Bruce did a great job!!

Received a call early Monday morning from Shafer Services advised me they had a technician available to come out this morning. Technician arrived and I told him what problem I was having. He was very friendly and professional. Advised me what he was going to do and the cost, which was very reasonable. My line was unclogged within about 15 minutes. Ryan ran the washer and ran water into the kitchen sinks four times and no water backed up into the sink and no water over flow from the washer drain. Ryan also was very informative on how I could maintain a clear drain. Ryan also informed me that their company offers a yearly maintenance program which we are interested in purchasing. We had a major duct replacement by Shafer Services performed which became an even bigger project since we opted to also have the attic insulation removed and replaced. We knew for some time that our 30 year old duct system was in bad shape but the scope of the project and costs delayed our decision to move ahead with our decision to replace. Very simple, this company has been the most professional, the most detailed, and knowledgeable of all. I was concerned about the costs and they offered a payment plan. I had a lot of plumbing issues because I reside in a part of San Antonio with extremely high water deposits. I used the Shafer Services Full Plumbing Inspection as a tool for me to discover plumbing issues that a professional plumber would see that I would not. I had also added specific plumbing tasks that I had requested be done in addition to the inspection. I knew that if I ordered a service and the inspection showed it did not need to be done, it would not be done automatically just because I had ordered it.Also, my A/C was not cooling well. Shafer Services technician Vincent did a thorough check and presented me with my options. My previous order for an full A/C check was ignored once he found a leak in my A/C coil, because running all of the checks now would give invalid readings. This company takes care of its customers! [Two days later, my new A/C coil was installed and I am sitting in a cool home for the first time in months!]In both the plumbing and A/C, there was never any high pressure sales pitch. They arrived right when I was told to expect them with a game plan already in place and ready to execute. They went about the task with the vigor of skilled tradesmen who love what they do. I am very blessed to have met them. The price was better than any competitor. The work was completed quickly, efficiently and thoroughly despite encountering a few hurdles such as no clean outs and the necessity to enter at the soil stack. Then as quick as that the issue was resolved and they were loading the augers back in the truck. Approximately an hour on site, maybe another hour to mobilze and demobilize. Despite having to deal with 2 different problems they stood firm on their quoted price which my family and I appreciate greatly. Friendly, competent technicians who lead you down the path to repair and then charge with an un-itemized bill that is enormous. If you call to protest, no one ever calls back. I have no idea how people give this company a good rating.

Alan Did a great job. When I described what was happening, he looked at me like “that can’t be happening”. After he investigated the problem, he found out why. The Company (not Shafer) that installed the system two years ago had wired the thermostat AND the compressor incorrectly. He also reprogramed the thermostat to enable features that I didn’t know we had. Sorting out someone else’s mistakes takes a lot of system knowledge.He only needed to take two steps into the house to get to the thermostat and he put on the booties every time he came in, even after I told his it wasn’t necessary. Equipment installation was top notch!15 July 19 update: Ryan was our technician today for an annual maintenance check. He discovered an issue with the refrigerant dryer/filter. Left unchecked this could cause expensive issues over time. Very thorough and professional. Additionally, the dryer/filter will be replaced later today. Great customer service!I called Shafer services and they diagnosed the compressor as the issue with my AC system. The AC technicians were professional and I'm satisfied with the quality of the work completed. Update: 4 June 2018: Jason with Shafer Services was our AC tech today and did an OUTSTANDING job. I will never use this company again after today.Called on a Friday and the earliest they could see us was the following Tuesday. Understandable. Tuesday of repairs, we are told they have emergencies they have to handle and push us to Thursday. Not crazy about that but not much we can do.They showed up today to replace the toilet fill valve and associated pieces. Recommendation was to rebuild the entire inside of the tank. $645. SIX HUNDRED FORTY FIVE. I can buy a high quality brand new toilet for less than $250. I'm lucky I was on the phone with my grandparents because they didn't know any better. I called the manager who told me his pricing is competitive. If I asked them to replace the toilet entirely, $645 would still be outrageous, let alone replacing some plastic parts inside the tank.I don't know if this company just has so much business they can afford to take people to the woodshed like this, but this is borderline predatory. I've used this company several times for plumbing and HVAC, and they were top quality. Now I'll be letting every single person who asks for recommendation know to avoid this company like the plague.

I called to get additional details and pricing on an APCO-X system installation. They stated no pricing could be discussed over the phone, that an appointment is needed to go over my needs and to look at my HVAC system for an accurate quote. While confirming the appointment details it was quickly mentioned that a $60 dispatch fee would be charged... That's a big NOPE from me!I get not wanting to waste time and money, but your company is the one refusing to go over pricing prior to sending some one out. I could easily answer any questions over the phone so that an accurate quote could be given yet you want to force an appointment to collect $60. You guys should have a knowledgeable sales rep who can answer questions, collect details, and provide quotes over the phone so it saves everyone time.Edit: Their response doesn't even address the real issue. I called 4 other businesses afterwards. One wouldn't give pricing either but scheduled a FREE no obligation appointment and the other three gave estimate over the phone (all of which were within $100 of each other which tells me the pricing is pretty standard). Either give estimates over the phone or drop the dispatch fee; don't charge people $60 to get an estimate.

They keep their word and explain what needs to be done before doing the work so you don’t have any surprises. They always are courteous and provide good customer service which seems to be a dying breed.

So I don’t normally write reviews, this will be my second one overall. However, the treatment I experienced today and on Wednesday is unacceptable. I am in the process of getting several bids for a new A/C and called Shafer for a bid. Larry came out on Wednesday to what I thought was to provide me with a quote. I was wrong. First of all, he asked me if I had planned on getting it financed and then asked how my credit was and suggested I apply for it before he even started the process. Unprofessional. I told him I am not interested in applying for anything at the moment as I haven’t made a decision as to which company I will pick and clearly I’m still in the process of getting bids. He then asks which companies I have received bids from and what brands do they sell. Displaying some sort of hesitation as if it’s not okay to have other companies to come out here. He then has to go out to get his backpack and measuring tape. I gave him the square footage of my home but he said it was different information he needed and had to also has to measure the windows to see what type of panes I have. I thought this was odd but went with it because of course I expected a quote at the end of his visit. He was upstairs for some time and comes downstairs and grabs his backpack like he’s done. I asked if he will be providing me with a quote. No he will not, he has to return to the office and enter all this “information” into his computer then come back out. I asked if he didn’t have a tablet to do that here and he said that’s not how Shafer does it, it’s a different process. OK. He asks if he can come back out on Friday, told him another company will be out here. He then asks again which company and what brand do they sell, oh and how many companies am I looking at. We schedule it for today(Saturday). So he comes out today, first thing he asks is how was the company that came out yesterday and what brand do they sell? He then pulls out a binder, a laminated legal size sheet with package information and a marker. He grabs his marker and starts writing on the laminate. I stop him and say that I was confused as he was supposed to come back with a bid after he had entered ALL that information into his computer. I ask him if he will be providing me with a physical copy of a bid or one attached to an email. He said no, that is not how they do things. What?!! Do you expect me to make a decision based off what you write on this laminate? Apparently so! Absolutely unacceptable!! This guy wasted my time on Wednesday AND on Saturday and no one in their right mind will make a decision with an expensive investment based off information written with a marker on a laminated sheet!! What an infuriating experience!!!

5/25/21 - Once again Ismael has knocked it out the park on customer service. Ismael, John and Jesus were at my house last Thursday installing my new tankless water heater. I am beyond thrilled to not have a 40 gallon water heater in my attic anymore. It was only because Ismael took the time to actually measure and know that this job was possible, that I decided to go through with it. So glad I did. The guys ran into a bit of a problem but Ismael got on the phone right away to resolve the issue and even though they were having to work late, he was determined to get the job done, and done well. You don’t find work ethic like that anymore and I will be forever grateful! Today my heater was serviced by Raymond Gonzalez who did an excellent job. He was on time and extremely thorough. I am once again very pleased with the service I have received.

No one else touches my ACs if I can help it besides Shafer. Are they typically more expensive than others, yes, they are. Is that always a bad thing ... not in the case. If you want you AC done right, call Shafer.

Shafer responded to our emergency rapidly and professionally! Larry Arriaga was the best. He walked us through the problem and repair process. No question was too insignificant to him. We will continue to use them for our home.

I was expecting a technician to arrive between 2-5 and they were a no show. There was no phone call, and the operator was extremely rude when I called at 4:53pm on 2/15/2020 asking the status of my call. She had an extremely condescending attitude trying to make me feel bad that she was working and I was in my warm house. Obviously she didn’t know that our home had been suffering power outages like every other home. I’m not sure how this company has a 4.9 rating. To top it off, she hung up on me.

I called for a stopped up shower drain and received an appointment for that very afternoon! Fantastic! The two guys who came to the house wore all the necessary virus protection, and also used shoe coverings.They figured out the problem and with a bit of work with an auger, they cleared the blockage. They soldered in a new cut-off valve for the water heater. The old one was corroded and leaking. Nice work. Professional. Must have been a busy day...they were an hour later than quoted, but they called ahead of time to let us know. Finished the work in 1 hour. Price was higher than expected, but may be due to the solder connection.

The whole Shafer team did an excellent job; from Derrick presenting all of our options and helping us make a final decision on our A/C unit, to Augie and his helper Eric installing the system and instructing us in proper use to get the most savings...great job all around. I felt overall, I received good service at a good value for my sewer line cleaning/camera inspection. The only reasons, I gave 4 stars is because I submitted a request online after hours and had to follow up the next day, late morning because no one had called me to schedule an appointment. Luckily the second person I spoke with was able to work me in the schedule for the same afternoon.

I called Shafer Services and had to leave a message. I was on the phone most of the morning but they called back three times trying to reach me. I was able to call them back at 11 am and they set an appointment around my schedule that afternoon.When the technicians arrived, they wore booties into my home to keep the floors clean. They assessed my two problems and, while one worked on the first issue, the second drove back to their shop to get the necessary parts for the second problem.I'm very appreciative of their good service, polite manners, cleanliness and very professional abilities and knowledge. I've used them in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

The replacement of a water pressure vale was installed and the water pressure checked within hours time. The professionals answered my questions regarding the process and informed me of other pieces being replaced for an improved system.

I specifically asked how much they charge for leak detection and was told $60 for the first hour. The guy came for 5 min. and asked if we had insurance because it would be over $1,000 to find the leak. A whole waste of time and money.

Ismael, my technician, was absolutely wonderful. I was nervous about the possible damage caused by a leak. He took his time to answer my questions and explained everything. He was both professional and courteous.

This is my second positive experience with Shafer Services so I decided to write a review. Today Shafer Services cleared the washing machine drain line. The service was great and reasonably priced. John B and JP were both professional, wore masks and foot coverings, explained everything and didn’t try to up sell me which is rare these days. They used video camera to show me the problem (before and after) so I am confident the problem is solved. I decided to join the Shafer annual plan that covers HVAC and plumbing because the plan paid for itself with this one visit. I have tried other service companies in San Antonio and Shafer Services is the best I have used.

So I call this company due to a hot water heater element that blown on the bottom and of course they sent a tech to my property that I assumed knew how to do the job. Meanwhile after 40mins on the job the tech call me and mentioned he couldn’t do job alone and needed assistance. Fine call your help was my response just get the job done. When other tech came they finally came up with a solution and said they had to drain tank alone with a mess all over my walls leaving what ever came out all over my walls and damaged. Also in the process of draining tank I reach out to my tenants and they told me the techs had left the job to get equipment for next job which puzzled me of professionalism. I call tech and he mention everything but him leaving as if they never left the job. Meanwhile almost three hours later the tech call me back and tells me I need to either call another company or call my dispatch and sent another tech cause he couldn’t do the job. At this point I was so embarrassed by my tenants and called in to dispatch that I still have yet received a response back from to inform the negligence. I called Anchor Plumbing and the job was done less than a hour. With the world going the way it is may god bless this Organization and hope time is taken out for thorough training. I give it .5 of star for the attempt and the other half for picking up phone.

I called to schedule an A/C repair for a previousproblem we have had on our A/C unit. In attempting to schedule aservice call and get an approximate estimation of any fee increasesfor this service since we previously requested for their service, theiremployee was arrogant, rude, interrupting, then dismissive and refusedto offer information I requested for supervisors and/or managers. Ifinally was able to get her to provide a name of a manager, 'Melanie' but Ispecifically requested the name and contact information for the mainmanager to lodge my complaint.I do not believe anyone deserves to be treated with such disrespect asI was treated and will NEVER return as a customer to Shafer nor will Icontinue to refer business to their company as a result of thetreatment received by their staff employee. I was initially referred to Shafer by a very well established business owner who has beeninformed of the incident. If their pledge is to treat all customers asfriends as family, they need to rethink how friends and family are andshould be treated. I would also advise re-training their staff ontelephone etiquette and customer service.

They had my problems resolved surprisingly promptly and were willing to take the time to explain and answer questions to my total satisfaction. I’ve had Shafer Services out a few times now. As everyone can imagine, having to call the plumber is not exactly fun. However, at least now I have the piece of mind that I know who to call right away and I know I will be well taken care of. Today I had the pleasure of meeting John Betton with Shafer services. This was a plumbing issue that he handled in minutes flat. Found John to be very knowledgeable of the work needed, explained in detail work to be done, possible outcomes. He came prepared and was gone and quick as he came. I would recommend John to anyone needing plumbing services.

They promised to arrive between 5 & 7 p.m. and did not show. I phoned at 8 p.m. and somehow, we were overlooked, but someone immediately drove over and assessed the damaged plumbing issue.

Our plumber from Shafer did a great job. He arrived on time and was pleasant. He identified the problem immediately and replaced the worn out parts in the kitchen sink drain. I also appreciated that he was wearing shoe covers so dirt wouldn't be tracked around the house. And yes, he was also wearing a COVID mask. I needed a repair done on a leaky pipe for my water heater. I would repair it myself but it has to be a contractor due to home inspection as we are selling our home. I feel like we were price gauged because of that. What needed to be replaced was a ball valve, 24 inch flexible pipe and coupler (all brass). The ball valve would have to be soldered. I looked up the costs of the materials which adds up to around $50. They wanted to charge me $500. $500-$50=450. Fair market plumbing labor is anywhere from $80-$200/hourly. At this rate, the hourly is $400. I should leave the medical field and become a plumber at that rate. I had a good experience with them before but I feel like they are gouging me because it’s an inspection repair. I called to ask them about this but I haven’t been called back.

Ralph arrived on time, was polite, reviewed the job requirements and went right to work. When completed, had me review the work to make sure it was done to my satisfaction. . . And it was! Highly Recommend . . .

New water pressure regulator, water heater heat element repair, new garbage disposal, water softener install, and new AC unit over the years. Always professional. Never pushy. They explain and show you why they are recommending a repair vs replacement, or vice versa. I will be a member of their protection plan and have them do any and all heating/air conditioning, and plumbing work as long as I live in an area they service.

We had guys come on 11/11. We explained the issue and they said there was an old wire they had not removed with the install of our new HVAC system (We paid full cash for that). It does seem odd that an entirely new state of the art system would be installed and yet this old prior equipment wire was not addressed, esp if they knew or suspected or as they lawyers say should have known it would be trouble later. But I get it. It wasnt mentioned in the contract. It certainly wasnt pointed out to me that I can recall but perhaps it was in fine print. So the install team guys were great. Raymond said he'd notify a big boss. The big boss was in a meeting. Raymond said the big upper boss would be by to examine the matter and offer options. That big boss never came or called. So I called them back and they said they'd have someone on the 18th. That f/u visit from the big boss wire examiner didnt happen even though on the 11th Raymond in my presence called someone back at HQ to explain how the requested in person exam didnt happen. Today is the 18th. My vist for new wire install was never put on the schedule. Raymond and the other guy are both at some type of mandatory training today. I had to be off today for this. I called Rio and she herself said she would handle the schedule for 11/25. I will have another day or at least half day to invest in my home. Moral here and it should be clear is this: call them a few days out to confirm if they don't first call you. Leave nothing to chance. Never a bad idea to double tap a service call. This one fell thru the cracks. It is odd though because when Raymond was here I told him Let's make it happen next week. Make that call and lock down the time, order the parts etc and he called someone somewhere. I had the option of maybe calling an electrician to do the work but I think it best that someone who knows the system from prior install would be better than a new 3rd party unfamiliar with the exact needs on the unit. As it now stands I had a very cold house last night. From the prior time the team installed a new touch screen digital thermostat but its performance has been so far at best iffy.This is still a great company. I don't regret in the least hiring them for the service install. I do hope the leadership at Schafer does a full AAR on this to prevent repeats of this for future clients.

The repairman arrived within an hour, was very friendly, and fixed my problem quickly. I have used them before and wouldn't hesitate to call them again. My only complaint is pricing: the repair took 30-45 minutes and the bill was $259 (including a $49 service fee).

Derek Ramirez was the sales associate that came to my house to look at my HVAC system and give me a quote to replace the system. He was able to look at the system I had installed and understand the setup. We talked for a good long while about my options for the replacement system. I was wanting to replace my old 16 SEER system with an equivalent efficient system. The problem was that there were now 16 SEER systems in the state of Texas and Trans was getting ready to have a price increase shortly. What he was able to do was get his Trane distributor to do was give me an 18 SEER system for the price of the 16 SEER unit. That was something that he did not have to do, but he went above and beyond to get me the best deal he could. There were 2 technicians that showed up to do the the install, Augie and Andy. The were both professional and very knowledgeable in the work that they did. I contracted Shafer Services to replace my old HVAC heatpump system, both the outside and inside units, replaced with a new Trane system. My old system had a 2 zone setup that allowed upstairs and downstairs to be cooled or heated separately and I wanted to keep that feature on the new system. Augie was the subject matter expert for the zoning option and did a very good job in ensuring that the new zoning system worked as it should. I also had them install a UV light into the system to combat any mold or virus that come through the system. The new Trane system I had installed is the XV18 which required new Trane thermostats to be installed and configured. Both Augie and Andy again were very knowledgeable in how to configure and get everything communicating. They did a very thorough job in showing me how to work everything. I have been very pleased with the service I have received from Shafer Services Plus and their personal that they have working for them. I will be a repeat customer and whole heartedly recommend them for any of your HVAC needs. Also, they were about $6k cheaper than another Trane competitors of theirs for the same system. If you want a quality system at a good price, Shafer Services Plus is the company for you.

Our dishwasher was installed, plumbing hardware repaired 5 sites in our 13 year old custom home. They are professional/competent - never have to worry about the quality of the work.

Chris gave me an overview of what a plumbing check entailed, and then checked on the water heaters, water pressure, toilets and any areas where I had concerns. He gave detailed explanations of new regulations coming in the future and how our plumbing stacked up against them. His advice seemed genuine and did not include any sales pressure. We learned today that Shafer Services in San Antonio, Texas has been scamming us on our A/C system for 5 years. Claiming to need to replace parts under warranty so they could charge us expensive labor. We caught them in a lie when our A/C certified contractor took a look and saw the leak in the coil they were claiming to need to fix at a cost of $1200 was perfectly fine. By the way the same coil was replaced one year earlier. They claim it's bad from the manufacturer. There was no leak at all. Then they went to the trouble to try to cover it up. We recorded everything and have proof of the fraud. However, sadly we also learned that most A/C companies do the same. They will confidently tell you to get a second opinion because they are all in on it. my contractor fixed what they broke in trying to cover their tracks for $125My advice if you've also been having lots of trouble with your A/C according to Shafer or any of these scam companies, is to ask for proof of what is broken and then when they try to show that proof, hire a contractor who is A/C certified to verify it. Our contractor told us exactly what they would do, word for word and that is exactly what they tried to pull on us. Do not trust them. We originally trusted them and gave them five stars all over the internet. We fell for this little scam where they pretend to save you from everyone else and then they just start scamming you with their regular maintenance and fixes when issues come up. And I promise, there will be issues.

My A/C unit stopped working and Rodney came over and was able to diagnose the problem right away and give me a few options to get the problem fixed. John came by a few days later to fix those problems and even though we ran into some problems with my unit, he was still able to get my unit running. 10/10 would use again.

Our plumbing went haywire early this morning. So I hired the plumbing services of Shafer Services. The service was prompt and arrived at the time specified. Two plumbing techs; Ismael Partida and Franc Rocha, were courteous and professional and quickly diagnosed the problem. The regulator had broken down. They soon had that fixed even better than before. They even walked me through every step of the way and saw with my own eyes that they were diligent and professional. I will highly recommend Shafer Services to any one I know. Rodney had serviced my a/c unit before and remembered the location, etc. The previous visit had been during the sadness of a family member death and he remembered this and offered condolences...very thoughtful of him.Rodney was efficient today, covered all the issues and gave some suggestions to improve the service and weather protection of the unit. He is an excellent worker and I would be pleased if he serviced my a/c when next needed.

I spoke with both the receptionist and a manager. I discussed the work that was needed to be done, about 20 minutes worth of work and they refused to say whether the work was going to be $200 or $5000. They try to sucker you into committing to their over priced work by making you pay $60 to even speak to someone.

I called Shafer Services based on reviews and recommendations online. I had a leak under ground on my main line. When I called Shafer they wanted to send a technician immediately since it was late in the afternoon I decided to schedule early in the morning so they could see the issue in day light. They called me before a technician arrived. The technician, Ismael Partido arrived in a timely manner and was very attentive as I explained my situation. Before determining if the leak was on my property or the city since the leak was close to the alley, he looked at the meter to see if there was a leak. He also checked al the different water sources to see if there was leak somewhere else. After trouble shooting he determined that the leak was my responsibility. He let me know the charge to fix the leak but he also gave me some other options to save me money in the long term. He had indicated that if I signed for annual maintenance checkup I could get a 10% discount and waive the service fee since we wa covered on the annual maintenance plan. I also had him replace a leaking faucet in my laundry room. He completed both jobs in a timely manner and did a professional job. I strongly recommend Shafer Services. Since I am retired, I feel very relieved that I have Shafer Services to work on any plumbing and AC needs in the future. Thanks Ismael!!

Water pressure regulator was leaked. The technician came the next day, which I was a little disappointed but I understood they already tried adding us to the schedule. The price and how to fix was clearly clarified. After these two fixing experience, I start to trust this company. Therefore I decide to hire them for my HVac maintenance.Technician is excellent. Patient to explain and teach me how to use the softener. The reception desk is really good, too. Only complaint is about the product. The softener works, but the screen doesn’t display information properly, which made me a little nervous. In the end, what made me really happy is that they didn’t try to hide or ignore it. They honestly told me the problem and replaced the chipboard the next day. I prefer honest and quality service to a discount (personal opinion).
