My experience with Choates was the worst. It was a week before my wedding and I was heading to work when I was in a wreck with one of their employees. It was his fault and he got the ticket, but my. Se was totaled. My insurance told me to file a claim with his since it was his fault so I did. I went through 5 numbers to get the correct company for the region and after giving my testimony they ONLY TOOK 80% LIABILITY ON SOMETHING HIS FAULT. I ended up having to get married and leave on my honeymoon before I could deal with my car. 3 weeks later I just received a small check from my insurance company because MY CAR IS TOTALED! And the payment for my car is not enough for a decent one so I now Im have had to finance a decent car and I’m in debt and now have MONTHLY PAYMENT. This is a terrible representation of a Choates and I’m so upset because of this whole experience. I sure hope none of them hit your car and try to get out of liability. And if you hire them, it’s a big risk. What a terrible company and what a terrible experience.

Thank you Choate! Our daughter's heat stopped working late Friday afternoon on the coldest weekend of the year with snow in the forecast. Choate had someone there at 7pm who diagnosed and fixed the problem on the spot. We knew there would be a charge for after hours service, theirs is very fair given their quick response time and ability to fix the problem without having to leave and come back. The technician was extremely professional.

Our technician was outstanding and very professional! Our HVAC system quit working and Brandon quickly diagnosed the problem and restored the air conditioning! Job well done!

The phone dispatcher was kind and courteous, the service was prompt, and the technicians were polite, kept my house clean, and explained everything. Low rating is because the prices are outrageous. $500 to change a run capacitor. Gimme a break.

Bought a unit from choates in feb 2021 and months later I had issues. So I called them up in January 2022. They charge for services just to come out to see what’s going on. I’m upset as this was suppose to be a new unit. I learned the way they seem to play the game is to blame the customer so all charges and fees falls on customer. So I called a repairman from a different company to handle the issue. Then here we are in November 2022 and we’ve been 2 weeks living in the cold. I called choates again to address this once more. We agreed to have a service visit this past Saturday Nov 19. Issues with payments or extra weekend charges were NOT discussed at that time. Dispatcher or tech called early in morning way before scheduled time. They were planning on sending a technician before the agreed time and I told them I couldn’t do earlier. So now we had to wait. I had called to get an ETA and James the dispatcher called me at 2 PM saying it would be another 45 mins to an hour. That was okay. Then came 4 oclock when the tech finally came (2 hours after James’ call). The technician said he was told not to service us till we made some payment that I was told would be covered back in January under warranty. And to add to it, there would be extra weekend charges for this visit. None of this was discussed with me before the appointment. Or earlier with dispatcher. After trying to reach an understanding with James, he instead got very rude and obnoxious over the phone and just said he would cancel service and tell tech to leave. I asked for the number to reach supervisor but was told he’d call me the following Monday. I haven’t heard from anyone over this awful mess. Hoping I’ll get an email. Choates seems to work in their favor and does not care for their customers no matter how much their customers spend on their units. Of course they will say it’s the customers fault and ready to charge you left and right. My guess is they didn’t sell me a new or good unit. Customer service is terrible. James the dispatcher was very rude and obnoxious. The unit they sold me wasn’t cheap either, especially for me being a recently widowed woman and single mom. Gonna try calling Conway or some other competitor in hopes of at least better service!

out a technician in a few hours. David was very polite and professional . After troubleshooting my old furnace , he recom-
mended needed parts and labor. He scheduled to return at my convenience to complete the repair.The charge for the troubleshooting and estimate were reasonable. Thanks

We previously had Choate's for HVAC services that were very good and this week we had a plumbing issue in the kitchen. We tried other means to alleviate the leaks and low pressure leading to frustration and finally called Choate's. They sent out Dustin who was punctual, polite and professional. He also provided some levity and was able to take a frustrating situation and turn it into a pleasant experience. He was able to quickly diagnose the problem and gave it all his effort to try and work with the current situation and faucet. In the end, we ended getting a new faucet and he was able to install it and the new garbage disposal quickly to give us back our kitchen. We highly recommend Dustin for all of your plumbing needs. We also like Choate's communication practice of sending a text to notify the arrival of a tech along with a photo to help identify who will be arriving. The only problem is the picture shown was not of Dustin. Other than the wrong photo, we are very impressed with Dustin and would highly recommend him and Choates. The only drawback to Choates is the consult fee is added even if the job is agreed upon and performed. That was not made clear at the time of the initial call and hold back the star rating. We rate the experience as a 4.5 and because Choate's appears not to wave the consult/inspection fee upon accepting the job. We cannot rate Choate's as excellent or 5 stars incidentally. Other companies waive the fee if the job is accepted/performed and Choate's should also in our opinion follow the same logic. Great job Dustin!

I had for the last three days two of the best technicians come to my home and install 3 new air conditioner units as well as 3 furnaces. They were the most professional guys I have ever encountered. Allen, the more senior of the two, was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything I needed to know about the new systems. Could not have asked for a better experience and will forever trust my home HVAC needs to Choate's

Downgraded to 1-star due to a more recent terrible experience. This is regarding a back-flow test of the irrigation system where the technician said our system had back flow. In addition to charging me $199 for inspection, they sent me an invoice for $1200+ to fix it, while another irrigation company said our system was new and in good shape, and that it did not have any back flow and it passed inspection sent to #MLGW

Needed to replace my HVAC. I called Choate’s for one of my quotes. Charles Craig came out, very professional & well prepared. He gave me recommendations & answered all my questions. Install team came out the next day & did the install. Terrance, Xavier, & Joshua were professional & explained the system to me after they finished. I highly recommend Choate’s.

Cleaned out clog in main drain plumbing as well as repaired kitchen disposal. Kenyale Pirtle is absolutely awesome!!! He did an excellent job and is extremely professional, efficient, and conscientious, just to name a few qualities ! We are exceptionally pleased and will definitely call again in the future!

Damian fixed the problem of our unit. He is an expert in this area. He explained and showed what he did to resolve the issue. He made sure the air flows from the vent before leaving. Hat off for you, Damian. Keep it up!!!

Maintenance plan is exponentially higher than other local companies. On 2 separate occasions, I was told that my water heater needed to be replaced (1st) and my AC units (2nd) had parts that were failing and needed replacing. Prices quoted for both jobs were exorbitant. Got second opinions; was told the water heater needed a $75 part and that both AC units were perfectly fine. Completely fraudulent. Canceling the maintenance plan has shown to be just as cumbersome.

Another successful service call. I asked for the same technician Kevin. He explained our issues and upon agreement, Kevin resolved our problem. He is knowledgeable and service oriented. I would recommend Kevin to any client.

I’ve been depending on them for HVAC and plumbing services for a few years now. No major problems or needs until today. A blockage in the sewer line close to the street became a disaster in my basement and ground floor bathroom. Toilet overflowing in the bathroom and into the hallway, and a basement filling with sewage. One phone call and the technician was here within the hour on a Sunday. Quickly realizing this was a bigger problem. Another phone call and a second technician and an Emergency Water Removal service were here. Still work to be done in the future for water damaged floorboards, but within a very reasonable 6 hours the crisis has been managed. Can’t speak highly enough of the team on a holiday weekend. Thanks guys!

I contacted your company because the AC system of the apartment I am renting doesn't work properly and because of that my energy bill tripled the last three months.
You sent a technician, he checked the system and said that there is a problem so I asked for his concept in writing.
He answered that he will send the concept in writing to my email.
The concept never arrived to my email.
I need it to prove to my landlord that there is a real problem with the AC system in order to push him to fix it.

Poor communication and grossly overpriced.
I scheduled a plumber to come to my home due to an issue with my sink backing I to my dishwasher and vice versa. I also requested for them to install the new sink I had purchased.

After arriving an hour after the end of the service window with no updates as to the plumbers whereabouts, the plumber arrived and installed my sink. All parts and supplies for the sink minus 1 screw were provided by me and in place ready for installation. The entire visit took 45 minutes to an hour.

At the end of the visit the plumber informed me he would not be able to to address my issue with my dishwasher as it was an appliance. I had made my request clear from the outset and had I known that they didn't intend to address my primary concern I never would have engaged their service in the first place. I suppose that was my fault for having my friend supervise the repairs.

The greatest upset came when I saw the charge: $863

It took multiple phone calls and emails to get anyone to address my concern seriously. They reduced the bill to $319- which is still far above a standard labor rate.

The sink was installed correctly-hence the 2 stars- but I would not recommend this company to anyone who likes clear communication or fair pricing.

We thank the team at Choate’s for a job well done. We could not be happier with the quality of equipment and the professionalism your staff exhibited on the installation. This was not an easy project. I had very specific specifications on what I wanted to see from my prospective as an Architect and Engineer that has been VP of Construction on some of the largest projects in North America including Las Vegas Casinos, New York City skyscrapers and even the refurbishment of the world’s largest nuclear power plant. Quality was very important to me.

I had taken several bids on this project, selecting three to consider further. The proposal from Choate’s was slightly higher however leveled beside the other contractors proposals Choate's provided better equipment and value. For example; I had requested that we run a commercial grade rectangular trunk duct in our crawl space then install damper controlled ducts to the floor registers. There were a number of turns. I requested radial turns and of the other well respected HVAC contractors interviewed only Choate was able to provide this. Others planned square turns with turning vanes which is steps down in quality. Some of the others also suggested insulation on the outside of the rectangular duct which was not acceptable to me. Choate also provided some relocation of plumbing and gas that was in the ceiling of my basement since my goal is to build out a home office or den in this 200 sq. ft. area. Regarding relocation of gas one of the other HVAC contractors suggested PEX however Choate’s would not provide noting that PEX will melt in a fire becoming a torch.

The workmen were respectful, polite and it was obvious they wanted to provide the best job. They took pride in their workmanship. Project management was top notch with equipment showing up on time, plumbers when needed, duct work completed and delivered on time. There was no downtime while our system was being replaced. Tarps was put down in the house at traffic lanes and the work area was cleaned each day. The project manager showed up each day to check the work and remained on site all day the final day to make sure everything was perfect.

Choate has a notification system that sends out notifications via text and a phone call that workmen are on the way.

We highly recommend Choate’s to anyone who is replacing their system. We could not be more pleased.

Choates did a great job fixing a job that a home warranty company had completely botched. Choates uninstalled the AC that had been installed incorrectly by someone else, and they reinstalled it properly. They took time to explain why they were doing and why. They were patient, understanding, and respectful. They were on time for their appts. Communication was great, and I appreciated the texts and emails that tell you who is coming to your home and when. After the appt you get a detailed invoice/ report. Their transparency is great.

Even tho I was a good employee, they made me homeless.

We had Damian come by today and he was incredibly helpful/resourceful! We ended up having cracks in our heat exchanger and he went out of his way to make sure we understood the issue and gave us all the info for our warranty service. Highly recommend!

My technician, Brandon did an awesome Job. I called at 8:30am and he was there at 11:00. He fixed what another service company messed up. Just had both HVACs in my home replaced and Choate’s was phenomenal. Can’t give enough praise for the job they did. From the person who called me back on a Sunday when our heat went out, to the Comfort Advisor, Josh, who drove through the snow the next morning, to the scheduler, to the installers Michael, Jay and Dalayno everything went smoothly and was extremely professional. Not to mention the value that was provided for the system was incredible. Five Stars all the way around.

We have used Choates for several years and have received timely excellent service. They fixed the problem quickly and didn't pressure us to buy things we didn't need. Careful, friendly technicians who were knowledgeable and efficient.

Called and arranged for an estimate. A guy showed up who worked hard to upsell. Following that, I received two lengthy texts that attempted to do the same. Irrespective of this, I needed by ducts cleaned so agreed to the service. 15 days after the fact, I have heard nothing from them. I contacted another highly rated duct cleaning company (Complete Clean) and they completed the task within three days and for $750 less than the quote I received from Choate. Important to note that they use the exact same equipment as Choate.

Read the response below and that is not correct, we didn't agree on a date. I was to be contacted to schedule and unfortunately, that never happened. Regarding the service provided, I watched your demonstration on YouTube and the exact same equipment was used by the provider I used.

Initial visit was great

Lied about having a part in stock. Said it was in stock but when they went to get it, it was not in stock.

Really seems like some purchasing agent decided not to do his job and then looked to blame the tech, the customer, the 'rona..anything other than owning his lie of having the part in their warehouse but then not having it.

Call Best Care. They are transparent about their parts requests.

Not fake, my service was for my commercial space on Madison. I dont want my actual personal information on google. But this sort of attitude towards customers is why I m glad I didn't keep trying to deal with Russel at Choates. He uses lies when cornered on doing a sub par job.

The technician was responsive, professional, able to come repair on the weekend, and seemed very knowledgeable. I plan to use Choate's again in the future.

It doesn't get more dire than a nonfunctioning furnace and a forecast below zero. After finding my heat off at 1 am, I managed to get the pilot relit and the furnace on then called Choate's emergency number. The lady with whom I spoke was extremely helpful and we agreed to set up an appointment for later that day. It was a holiday with a major winter storm predicted. The two technicians arrived at 11 am in a driving snow, listened politely and then I left them in the basement. They emerged an hour later with the system repaired and a most reasonable cost. From the initial phone call to a functioning furnace everybody was courteous, competent and professional. I highly, highly recommend Choate's. They are now my favorite go to service company.

Very very poor management in my opinion.
I manage a property and we needed a second opinion, scheduled these guys....and they got rained out..was told someone would get in contact with my to reschedule...a week later still nothing . I called to follow up and see when a tech would be out and they said within a day or two....another week later he came at ,6 pm when I was closing ....now it's been a week And still haven't received my estimate from the visit..called Monday of this week (it's now Thursday) and the lady said she sees notes but nothing else about the estimate and she would get back with me....still waiting.

If I could give more stars I would. Choate's was kind, quick and responsive during the entire process from scheduling the repair to completion. I highly recommend their service!

Update: I have now joined the yearly Family Plan to ensure my home is kept up to Choate's Standards! You should, too!

I have had a very positive experience with Choates these last 10 years. I am just now writing a review because I am impressed by how my technician Robert Chebuske went above and beyond to diagnose a recent HVAC issue. I was impressed by his punctuality, professionalism, and dedication to figuring out where the issue was, even though it was complex and took a couple visits. I feel like he was fair in his assessment and explained things easily for me to understand. Highly recommend!

Handled plumbing issues efficiently and professionally.

Do not use this company. They charged me over $5K to install two water heaters, and they failed their inspection. I've called them twice and still haven't gotten a call back. Apparently they think they can just walk away from a failed inspection and let the homeowner deal with it. See y'all in small claims court.

The technicians that came out did an excellent job finding the problem and fixing it. Shout out to all 3 technicians that came out

Just wanted to take a minute to say thanks,Had a problem with a/c after they had came out and did there yearly check up.Called them to let them know and they sent Dan out right away. Dan went thru the unit to find the problem.The problem was over looked on check up.Dan took his time and found issue.Clean the unit and checked and cleaned the second unit i have.Dan was top notch he knows his stuff.Also while working on unit another tech his name was Eddie was on the way home off the clock and came over to help Dan finish before Dark.Eddie was very professional and Took time out of his own time to help out,this is hard to find these days.Want to say thank you Dan and Eddie,units working like they did when new.For now own will request Dan or Eddie to come out.This is what i call customer service.
