No no no!!! Do NOT waste your time or money on this guy! He was so rude to us! Every time my husband had any communication with him, he was a complete jerk! I'm not even sure how he has any clients!

Aside from his attitude, he halfway did a job, then blamed our contractor for everything that went wrong including leaking a gallon of water into our newly renovated bathroom. He ripped off the bead board and left it in pieces (all could have been avoided if he just did what he was supposed to do in the first place) and now we have to pay for materials and labor to replace it.

He also had the nerve to tell my husband we needed to lend him our SUV so he could go run errands for an afternoon when he broke his key to his truck in our driveway. (Didn't even ask us, not that we would have lent it to him anyway) On top of that, he left his truck here for days until the new key came. WHO DOES THAT?!?

He showed up on the days he said he would, but he was at least 45 minutes late both times.

Worst of all, my husband told him we really need him to fix this issue because we're having a party this weekend and our guests will need to use this new bathroom. This party was pretty much the whole reason we are having the bathroom built. He tells us that he doesn't know if he'll have time to fix everything (ALL HIS FAULT BTW) because HIS WIFE is also having a party this weekend. So his personal life comes before his business and his clients. And it doesn't matter to him that we're left SOL.

My husband and I own a business and this is NOT how you treat your customers. Again, I don't know how he gets ANY repeat clients.

On his website, he states that his company treats your home as their own. I would hate to see their home then.

I'm beyond devastated at the situation he has left us in.

Please don't waste your money or time with this guy. He does not know his craft/industry as well as he says he does.

John is the best I have ever worked with: he's very thorough he's always going to give you the very best option. John is very smart if he doesn't have an answer he will figure it out. So John installed all of our products I am showing you a little over a year ago. We bought our house Sept 6 of 2016. It was built in 2005 as a spec house in a historic neighborhood. As with a lot of spec homes what looks good on the surface is not always what lies below. John fixed what was wrong with our home to make it livable for us. I am ;posting this today because I needed help with changing the 5 stage water filtration system cartridges, he came same day & helped me out. THAT IS SERVICE!!!

John was very knowledgeable about the condos in my area (River Plantation). I was purchasing a home and needed a plumber to assess the plumbing issues that appeared in the inspection. John was sensitive to my timeframe and did a thorough assessment. He provided a detailed explanation of the issues and my options. After closing karma he quickly repaired all of the issues. He was always on time and always professional.

Moved to Nashville recently and had a clog in my kitchen drain. I am really glad I came across John - he was great, and I will not hesitate to call him in the future if I have plumbing issues. He was able to schedule an appointment very promptly and was able to fix the drain issue very quickly. He was great at explaining the issue and how to prevent it in the future - he clearly takes his craft seriously and is very knowledgeable. During the process he also provided general tips about drains and drainage and ended up helping us get parts for and install a mixing valve to solve an issue we were having getting hot water more quickly circulated to the bathrooms in the back of our house (our water heater is in the front of the house). It is a game changer. Highly recommend!

This is the second time I have called Shiver plumbing. There's a reason for this. He answers his phone and gets to me quickly. His prices are reasonable and he fixes other little things he observes that need addressing. He also taught me how to clean my own shower, sink drains....etc. and as a single female I appreciate learning little things that I can do on my own. Very pleasant to do business with. I would highly recommend him if you're tired of getting screwed over by some dishonest/overpriced, we'll get to you when we get to you, kind of folks. :)

John came out the first time promptly so it seems stated our builders incorrectly did everything yet seems he only put a bandaid on the problem at hand, within not even a week same thing leaking again, to make a long story short he never fixed anything it's still leaking after his 3 attempts. I called and stated it's been 3 times I think we are going to go with someone else get another opinion etc but due to the fact we are still in the same boat can we get some sort of refund cuz u didn't do ur job? It was as though I lit a fire in his butt cuz our came attitude completely unprofessional and not taking any ownership whatsoever and playing the blame game, making excuses and justifying everything trying to tell me he can come do this and that but why would I let this man back into my house after yelling at me and treating me this way on top of 3 failed attempts ??!!! He even hung up on me then not long later had his wife call to finally cave and say she'll send us some money back! I've never dealt with someone more rude and unprofessional ever I don't see how he has a business if he thinks it's okay to treat his clients that way. Do not use him it's a waste of ur time and money!!!

Shiver Plumbing was very quick to respond to my request for a leaky toilet. They were quick and efficient and cleaned everything before they left. They even helped me change a light bulb that I couldn't reach. I would recommend them for anyone needing plumbing repairs.

Shiver has been the absolute best for our needs. John has always helped us out in a timely, and cost-effective manner. We've gotten quotes from other companies in the area, and Shiver has always undercut them in terms of pricing, and over-delivered in quality and speed. I'm not planning on using anyone else, as long as he's around!

I highly recommend John! He was quick to schedule with me and he was at my house exactly when he said he'd be (which I really appreciate, I have had 5 local highly-rated repair people flake or cancel last minute, and it was super frustrating, this was not the case with John at all). He took care of the clog in my bathroom sink and even offered to replace the pipes below the sink with PVC, which will last longer. He had all of the replacement parts already and completed the replacement the same day! He was very friendly and gave me additional information for how to properly care for the pipes and drains in my older house to prevent issues in the future.

John Shiver is still the best plumber I know and now one of the kindest businessmen I’ve ever met! He came prepared to “do battle” with these old pipes but unfortunately I had totally misunderstood and so misinformed him of what the problem was. He didn’t need the extra supplies he had purchased (based on what I’d told him) and then wouldn’t let me pay for them. (I told him I could “save them for the next time ‘cause you KNOW there will be a next time”.) But still he refused a payment.

I have to say that John Shiver is more than fair; he is a walking example of the word honorable.

I like doing business with the vendors who don't use or need TV commercials or big shiny trucks. After searching the web, reviews, and websites for plumbers in my part of Nashville, I decided to take the chance on using John to fix the broken fitting around my water pressure booster. John was able to come out quickly and repair the fittings around my water pressure booster once he made a run to the parts supply house to get unique fixtures needed for my repair. I am glad I found John and will continue to use him for my plumbing needs. Based on the time he spent with me, the repair, and getting the special parts, I feel I was charged a fair price for his services. Support your local small businesses. I am glad I did.

Truly Exceptional Service! I called John at 10:30 this morning and by Noon he had my drains clear, everything cleaned up and restored to working order. Literally, an hour and a half from the time I first spoke with John to the time the job was complete! How incredible is that?! I talked with him about the issue I was having (waste water backing up into tubs) and he determined he could work it in between jobs since he was nearby. Will certainly recommend every chance I get!

He came out quickly, diagnosed the problem and fixed it right away. Very pleased with his work and a fair price too. I will call him again for any other plumbing issues.

The best part of working with Shiver was that he answered the phone before business hours on a Monday at 7am and was at our residence within an hour. Unfortunately, we have nothing but negative things to say about him/service.

Upon arrival to a clinical facility that had severe water damage that had infiltrated electrical outlets and other wiring where it was a health and fire hazard (with 1/2 inch to 1 inch of standing water in 75% of the building), the first thing Shiver said was okay let's turn all breakers back on in order to turn on all the lights. Mind you we had intentionally turned off all breakers upon arrival to the facility 1 hour prior to his arrival in order to save ourselves from being electrocuted and/or damaging thousands of dollars in medical equipment. He completely disregards this massive and costly risk when he could've (and should've) worn a simple $10 head lamp to ensure safety first. Moron! Incrementally turning on the breakers by area would've been fine if done after checking to make sure the area was safe from water... sadly this never happened. We are lucky an employee was not electrocuted.

I then explained that the main water valve had been turned off and also talked Shiver through the site of the actual issue and showed him exactly what needed to be done to remedy (essentially trouble-shot the issue for him). There was a simple tear in a soft water filtration tube, and I requested that he simply replace the tubing with a hard connector/valve to prevent the tube from folding over again. Instead, he proceeds to replace the valve to where we can no longer use the sink filter, which is the whole point of the connector in the first place. Now I'll have to hire another plumber to actually fix the original problem to where we can use the water filter under our sink.

The final straw was when he handed me the service invoice -- $150. While the service call fee of $50 is reasonable and customary (very low by industry standards, actually), he charged us $100 to swap out the metal valve connector (from a T to a straight joint) that was completed in less than 10 minutes. Our issue with his invoice is that he charged $150 for a service that didn't even solve the issue at hand!!! He simply took the path of least resistance and was looking to make some fast cash, preying on an office full of all young female professionals who did not know any better. This is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. The moment that I raised my concern to his attention, he got very angry and testy with me and said I was in the wrong and he fixed our problem, which is the exact thing that the other negative reviews on here say about him. Sad lesson learned.... while prompt and responsive via phone, my best advice is to find another plumber. It sounds like multiple others have had the exact same issue. I'm hoping that he learns from this unfortunate incident and becomes a better service professional as a result.

We woke up to a leaky hot water heater (and water covering our garage floor) early this morning. John answered his phone at 7 a.m. after I had to leave messages or wait for callbacks from the other services I tried. He was at our house by 9 a.m. and we had an operation hot water heater by early afternoon. And he gave us a fair price when some may have exploited the urgent nature of our job. I can’t recommend him enough!

He was quick, polite, and did good work. He fixed the broken pipe on my hose bib and then offered to plunge my sink (which was draining a little slow) for free.

Came on short notice and worked so efficiently. Fixed my problems quickly. Very happy with service!
