The Tech told me the ice freeze on my unit meant there was definitely a leak. And depending on if the leak was on the outside or inside would determine how much the cost would increase. If outside--he could repair--if inside--he could not repair and the cost would be significantly higher—like replacing the unit. I asked several times, does he think the unit may just need cleaning because I could see grass and leaves on the inside of the frame. He said in his EXPERIENCE, when there is ice on the unit— there is ALWAYS a leak. And just adding the charge to the unit--it would just leak out. So I authorized payment for the leak search and it turned out to NOT have a leak at all! So basically—I could have paid for the 2-1/2 pounds of charge,” the cleaning, and the trip charge. On the Tech's advice that there was definitely a leak--I paid more than was necessary to the tune of $1,400.00!

I used a home warranty and the warranty company screwed up and didn't send in a work order but the plumber was very responsive. He did a tremendous job and I would recommend him to anyone. Please use his company. He is very good.
