Audrey was awesome! I was looking for a replacement for a broken shower handle. They didn’t carry the part I needed, but Audrey went out of her way to identify the part, searched for it online and instructed me how to install it. She was super helpful, while not try to sell me anything. Thank you Audrey!!! I’ll definitely return to A-Boy for future needs!

Customer service is excellent as is the selection. Took care of a few things here that other hardware stores didn't have or couldn't be bothered to figure out properly. Jack worked with me on each problem I had and helped me find a solution that fit.

I brought an old light fixture in for repair. Great service - contacts for bulbs were cleaned and light was deemed workable, chain was shortened for me, all at no charge!

I like 'em. Quality tools and materials at a reasonable price, and right in the neighborhood. Have to go to Parkrose Hardware, otherwise. Staff is friendly and helpful, with just the right amount of 'help me, but leave me alone, too'. If I have a question, I'm answered in a friendly way. Otherwise, they don't try to sell me stuff I don't want.

Always had a great experience here, lots of nifty hardware items. These folks have always been very friendly and helpful. I recommend them often, now I'm doing it here too.

I brought two quirky projects to them: wiring artisanal lampshades, and repairing the frayed cord on a very old toaster. It was fun! Bill kept the old cloth covered cord, which I appreciate. I also bought a Toto Washlet from Audrey and she was super helpful. A-Boy in Hollywood is a wonderful resource.

In and out in less than 20 min with my beautiful old lamp that needed a cord repair to be safely used. Total cost? $16.31 including parts! What a pleasant experience and a great deal. I am so impressed with the customer service and value of this place!

This used to be a good place for plumbing stuff but it has gone down hill. The staff are not very knowledgeable, and the inventory is very limited. I have purchased several items that failed and they do not stock replacement parts for anything.

Bill Bryan helped our tea group with a heating component coil and was such a great help with his amazing skill in fixing.

This store has it all. I was helped by a kind employee who took verbal abuse from another employee. It was very uncomfortable and unkind and uncalled for.

I hope that unkind person reads this and knows who he is. It’s not a good look on you!!

Why would you go anywhere else! Took my Husband's Kitchen Sink Trap Plumbing Problem to Bill at Aboy Plumbing Hollywood store and not only did he find all the parts we needed but he also cut pipes & assembled the whole contraption so I can just take it right home and have my husband put it back together easily. Sorry the Big box stores Don't do that. Again another reason we need to shop our local neighborhood family owned stores. We'd be lost without them! These guys have a good selection, good prices and good advice. I always visit in the midst of some plumbing disaster and I always leave with a solid plan and hope in my heart.

I was trying to get fittings to hook up a toilet/bide seat for a client. I couldn't find anything to match up to what I needed. I was about to give up when Jerry walked up and asked If I needed help. I gave him my problem and 15 minutes later we came up with a solution that worked. Jerry's diligence towards trying just about everything finally worked. Great customer service. Thank You

It's nice to have a store I can walk to when I just need a few screws or whatever. The employees are OK but not super-knowledgeable (e.g., when I was looking for a new thermostat for my furnace nobody had any clue what the differences between their models were).

I had a problem with a GFCI switch in my house. I called up A-Boy , and I asked if someone could give me some information on what it might be.
Josh came on the line and troubleshoot the problem with me. He walked me through a few steps until we figured out the problem. Thanks for being so courteous and helpful !

The people here are super helpful. Nothing like having someone walk you through the repair of an 80 year old valve stem washer replacement and how to use rubber packing rope to replace a washer that is disintegrated to nothing. Great people and a great resource for DIYers.

They did a great job of rewiring an antique chandelier for me at a really good price highly recommended

Every experience I've had here has been excellent; they know the products; they know where they are located in the store. They always have helpful insight into how to use what you're buying, as well. Highly recommended for electrical; have not looked for plumbing things there but I imagine they are just as good.

Decently stocked place but some of the staff have little patience for non-fix it people like me.

I am a journeyman plumber in the Portland area and completing a few projects for my customers. Our company is communicating through phone and text and practicing appropriate social distancing. I came into a boys with a mask on and A diluted bleach water spray bottle and a clean rag. I spritz the handle and wipped it off as I entered. They chuckled at me and asked if I always do that. I said no there is a pandemic going on. They begin to chuckle as well as did not practice safe social distancing at all. I recommend not going into this story during these times

The service here is simply the best in all PDX for plumy & electrical needs. They have rewired @ 6 lamps for me in the past 2 months ... It feels great to have the lamps back in services. Locally owned & operated & great prices too!

We've worked with A-Boy multiple times now purchasing plumbing fixture for our kitchen and bathrooms and electrical fixtures throughout the house. They are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Their prices are excellent as well for quality product. We've found our fixtures to be cheaper than online and we get to hold/see them before buying.

They will continue to receive my business.

Awesome customer service, wish I would have come here in the first place when looking for a kitchen sink. It would of saved me a lot of stress! The lady in the show room was up beat positive and help me find just what I needed !!!! very competitive pricing too!!!

I normally don't write reviews but I wanted to share that A-Boy Electric and Plumbing are fantastic!
This time I brought my van and Bill helped me out with plumbing for my new water tank. It's working great!
I'm not going anywhere else in Portland than to here when it comes to Electric and Plumbing etc, they rock!

Customer service are very knowledgeable and helpful. They ask what you are doing and make suggestions that are easier and better. Way better than Home Depot or Lowe's.

I’ve remodeled 2 bathrooms and a kitchen and this place has by far the most knowledgeable and friendly staff. They have walked me through each step of the way for many of my most complicated projects and they always have what I need. They clearly put people above profit. I’ve gotten advice that saved me money and time. Love these qualified women and men!!

Getting 2 old lamps fixed there..they know what they're doing!

It’s a nice store and I bought several things. I’ve been past it many times and I was looking for a specific accent lightbulb. The associate stealthy hovered around me the entire time I was there. I surrendered my backpack upon entering and would have gladly been strip searched rather than being made to feel as though I was up to no good. At one point I even placed the items I was holding in front of him and assured him I was not there to steal. I know how it is in today’s world but there is still such a thing as tact. I will never go back. These items could have easily been purchased on Amazon and I would not have been made to feel uncomfortable.

I read that Aboy fixes lamps. I stopped by just before closing just to ask if they could fix my lamp. Without hesitation and a few minutes later my lamp was repaired. No only was I speechless but dumbfounded when Bill said no charge!!!
I do appreciate great customer service as it’s a rarity these days and I can’t thank you enough! I’ll be back and I hope you will purvey them too! Thank you!!!

Great shop with friendly, helpful staff. Selection and stock is generally better than the big box stores in a lot of categories. I've also found items can even be cheaper here that I've found them at the big box stores. A local gem and great resource.

Non existent customer service. Guy acted like he was surprised to see a customer, then did nothing to be of service. First and last visit.

Wonderful customer service! I had to replace a busted toilet seat and wasn't sure how to deal with ~40 year-old grout without busting the porcelain. Ryan explained exactly how to do it, and - voilà- success! I'll definitely continue to buy lighting and plumbing items from A-Boy, including a new toilet when needed...

This is my new plumbing store. Finding help was easy and the fix was far cheaper(for me, anyway) when talking to people who know a thing or two about plumbing

A manbaby contractor had a tantrum and walked away from a job on our bathroom taking random proprietary parts and tools with him when he stormed off. Among the casualties - parts to the diverter for our brand new bathtub. I went everywhere. Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, ReStore, and Hippo Hardware. The latter turned me on to a few places. But they mentioned a place near them called A-Boy plumbing. He essentially said, If they cannot figure it out, no one will. Once there I spoke with a woman named Audrey who was rumored to be the Fixture Whisperer. A quick examination of the parts that I had, a search online, she disappeared to the back and returned with exactly what I needed with a price that could not be beat. I wish I had spoken to them before chasing my tail for several weeks.

I was in here picking up some stuff for a client and the guy behind the counter started giving electrical advice to a customer. I was stunned! It was obvious that he knew nothing about the trade, and the advice that he was giving, pretending to tell an unsuspecting customer how to wire something, was outright dangerous.
Sadly there is no way to hold him responsible for endangering the public.

Love the service these guys gave me. I forget the gentlemen's name but I had to convert a 220v electrical plug to a different style and he made an extension cord for me, on the spot, for a killer deal. I'll be back!

These guys are great. They help me plan a large plumbing project using PEX then they loaned me the tool, so I didn't have to buy it myself. And I got lots of great advice, including to stay away from the plastic PEX joints and use the brass. I'm glad I did, I think it's going to be much more durable.

I had to take back a ton of stuff ( just standard over buying, due to home amateur knowledge) when I was done, and they did it with zero complaints!

The assistant floor representative Josie really shorted A-Boy out of a significant amount of business. We are redoing two bathrooms and a kitchen. This lady was such a terrible salesperson and representative. Rude, dismissive, uninformed, and pushy. It was a bit comical, honestly. I would recommend sticking her in the warehouse, far away from people. This was over two separate interactions with her, one in person and one on the phone.

A-Boy is hit and miss. Mostly miss. I have tried so many times to support my local electrical/plumbing shop. But 4 out of 5 times, they either don't carry what I'm looking for (normal house plumbing work) or don't know if they carry it. I've found one person at the Hollywood store that was helpful and knowledgeable. Everyone else is either distinctly unhelpful or without a clue.

I've been here dozens of times over the last 25 years, and they have had everything I've needed every time.

They just have no clue what they are talking about. Had me on hold and kept coming back on to mix up voltage and wattage, even I know the difference. Then they would put me back on hold again to check the price and come back on to tell me the voltage wattage mix up again but still no price. Needless to say, I won’t be buying from them anyway so screw the price...

I was referred to A-Boy by another local business who didn’t have what I needed. They recommended A-Boy due to their large selection of less common adapters, etc... sure enough they had exactly what I needed and they were super helpful finding it. Customer service and product selection is first rate!

I have purchased many specialty bulbs there over the years and have been happy with their offerings, prices and staff members. I wanted to replace a light and thought I'd go to A-Boy rather than a boutique place like Rejuvenation. I can't say I was happy with the floor sales person. I was pretty clear, I thought, with what I wanted, but she wanted to engage with me on something else entirely. Very frustrating to the point that I felt like I was auditioning for help. The selection they have, though, is quite good when you consider the small size of the store and their prices are quite competitive. I imagine that if I knew more about lighting or were an electrical contractor I would have left with a light, but as it was I left empty-handed.
