We had a dishwasher fail the week before Christmas, and had hired Mike from M&S plumbing to install a new dishwasher. I had purchased the dishwasher from Lowe's and Mike assured me on more than one occasion that he could install it. The day he came to install the dishwasher, he removed and disconnected the old washer, and then stated that he was not able to install the new one. He then left after placing the water line to the dishwasher in the cabinet under the sink. Later that evening, I discovered a puddle of water on the kitchen floor. When I examined underneath the sink, I found that the water line had not been completely turned off, and had been leaking all day. I found water had seeped underneath the cabinets, and into our basement. I was able to stop the leak simply by turning the shutoff valve. I called Mike to notify him of the problem, and he assured me that he took responsibility for the leak and would man up, and cover any repairs. I then contacted Paul Davis Restoration for the mitigation of the water damage, which they performed. I paid the initial deposit to get the work started, and forwarded the bill to Mike via email, with the expectation that he would reimburse us. I also sent a second receipt, that I also paid, when the water clean-up was completed. Since then, I have emailed and called Mike on multiple occasions with no response from him.
I highly recommend avoiding Mike, as he clearly does not stand by his work, and will not own up to his mistakes.
