we had a pipe freeze Saturday and leak from our 2nd floor to our living room and during one of the coldest and busiest days. Catons was able to be here within a couple of hours. Very professional and trustworthy. Took awhile, but it looks like we are on the mend. Even had a followup visit on Sunday. Whew.

The laundry tub was dripping so I'd called a couple of plumbers to get estimates. The first plumber to give an est. didn't even turn on water to see what was going on. He just told me to replace the pump for almost $1200. When Dave W. arrived from Caton's, the first thing he did was to run the water and see for himself what was happening. The check valve was leaking, not the pump. Way less than $1200! Thanks Dave.

I can not say enough positive things Caton and my great Tech Bruce (#2171). I had been dealing with running hot water for 3 days. I called Caton and they were able to send Bruce out that day. They kept in contact with me so that I would know when he would arrive. He came in and accessed my problem. He was very honest about what he could do and the approximate cost. So in the beginning of the NorEastern that we just went thru, Bruce came to my home and stayed until the problem was fixed. He made sure he discussed the pricing with me again and was amazing. Attempted to DIY a leak in my very old shower. Unfortunately the DIY led to a discovery that the old parts were bad/corroded and even with new parts by the same brand, the old parts had caused serious problems. Called Catons and with 30 minutes a technician was at my house diagnosing the problem and coming up with a solution that would ensure I never had a problem again. He did it fast and for cheaper than quoted all on a Sunday night. Truly a great service!

We recently received our newest water bill which was a little higher than usual. I decided I wanted to compare it to the meter to make sure it was right and see if there was a discrepancy. I called (Baltimore City) and after they gave me a hard time about trying to understand my meter I decided to call Caton’s. They came out and confirmed that there is indeed a meter in my house (the city told me there wasn’t a meter IN my home as I was standing there staring at it) , but confirmed it’s not in commission and that’s why the numbers/reading don’t match what is on my bill. Frank, the technician who was sent to our home, then proceeded through the motions of figuring out if we had an underground leak, etc. He was extremely kind and very helpful, gave great advice but ensured that we didn’t have a larger issue at hand. I’ll definitely be keeping Caton’s # on hand as our go to for future issues (although I hope we have none). Also shout out to Maddy(sp?) for keeping me updated on the arrival, she was very kind and easy to communicate with. The original woman who answered my first call (I forget her name) was also extremely knowledge and knew exactly what I was asking and needed.

Our appointment was scheduled the next day at our house in Baltimore between 10am-2pm on 9/14/21. Customer service told me the estimate was free. Great start with customer service.

The tech didn’t arrive until 3:10pm. He proceeded to immediately tell us he’s supposed to be off at 3pm and that he’s charging to identify the leak even though we already did. On top of that, he demanded that we put our 9lb dog away (in my own house). We paid him, but not using them again obviously. If this company wants a bad rep, they’re doing a great job by employing a joke of a tech.

After a DIY blunder I needed immediate assistance. CATONS Plumbing responded instantly and was able to send a technician right away. Dave was very polite, professional and explained everything throughly. Kudos to the CP&D squad for a job well done 👏 👍

This is the second time I've had to call Catons within the past year and the tech Dave Whittington was top notch.He was responsive and patient as well as answering all my wife and I questions. I would definitely use Catons again for any future plumbing issues that we have. Although they aren't cheap but as we've learned as homeowners, you get what you pay for. Thumbs up to Dave. The faucet pipe inside the shower diverter was broken. They took my phone call and arranged a technician quickly. The technician Lai Chuana was very professional and got the job done in very good quality.

Catons showed up on time and went above and beyond what I expected. They quickly got the job done and re seeded the yard and patched the concrete after installing a new water line.

Caton’s has come through in a pinch several times. Candice and the water mitigation team were swift and effective in drying out water from a dramatic toilet break in my mother’s house. Zach recently replaced the broken toilet around our difficult schedule and worked with us on models and seats. Marvin drained a number of our pipes including the mainline in order to prevent the kind of backup we saw in 2021 in our basement which was a nightmare. Only wish we had found Caton’s years ago and turned to them earlier for their expertise. Would have saved significant grief and expense!

Efram was excellent. Two other people had tried to address the plumbing issue with my shower. He was able to diagnose, explain and resolve the problem. The plumbing issue was very involved. Catons’ tech, Elijah, was very professional, thorough & fixed the problem in a timely fashion. This was a big problem for us; but, Elijah calmly fixed it. Candice was very professional & helped us with the insurance forms. She answered all of our questions. We’re waiting now for the water restoration (?) team

Called Catons due to a gas leak caused by the installation of a new meter (thanks BGE!). The plumber arrived within 90 minutes (on a Saturday) and had the problem fixed in no time. He also took the time to check the work done by the BGE contractor to ensure there were no other leaks. Great service!

Marvin was excellent. Fortunately I went and bought a water heater to save time - their supplier was closed by the time they got here and assessed the issue. Pricey but the entire problem was resolved in 4 hours.

Terrible company. Staff are rude and dismissive. Don’t even know how good their work is because we couldn’t get that far with how long I was on hold and the hassle they put me through. Wasted two hours of my day.. go to any plumber in Baltimore besides this one.

Catons Plumbing is awesome! They're open 24/7 and when I called later in the evening because of a shower that was backing up, they said they could have someone there in just an hour or two. The service technician Dave W. showed up right on time and was able to quickly determine and address the problem. He cleaned up thoroughly after himself and spent a few minutes discussing with me what I could do to prevent issues like this in the future.

Had a pipe spring a leak in our basement overnight. Called Caton's and they were able to send someone out within the hour (didn't mention that Thanksgiving was the next day) where other services either couldn't guarantee anything or could only fit us in late in the day. They also have water restoration as part of their services and pair them, so we were also able to begin the clean up process to make sure we wouldn't have any mold form.

Came to provide free estimate but then wanted to charge to determine where leak was. Would not allow us to show him how the drain was leaking. Needed to turn on the water so he could see the leak but instead stated he needed to pour a bucket of water down the drain. Well by the time he could observe the drain the water was gone. Therefore wanted to run a drain leak test, for a fee, versus just looking at the drain while water was running.

The tech Bruce Jordon was prompt,professional and very friendly.He explained everything in detail,reviewed options and asked if there were any other issues that I would like to have assessed.He completed the job in a timely manner and much to my surprise,cleaned up better than it was before he started.The cost was a little high but the quality is indisputable.You get what you pay for.I will always use Catons and request Bruce,when I do.

Catons plumbing has been great. Their call center is friendly and responsive. We’ve used them twice now and each time they’ve sent someone out within 24hours. Additionally, their crew is knowledgeable and professional. Elijah in particular went above and beyond on some bathroom plumbing reworking. He was so professional and made sure the job was done perfectly.

I had an issue with my garbage disposal. Despite being late in the evening, Tim came out and took care of my problem. Everything is working great!

I was able to make a same day a appointment at no extra charge, as it was not an emergency. The technician, Efrain, was professional and arrived in the stated time slot. He was able to complete all of the necessary work in a timely manner. He informed me up front about the top price for the work needed. He was able to comple the work at the lower price stated and didn't try to upcharge me or sell anything extra or unnecessary. He was very friendly and explained all of the work that he was doing as he was doing it. I would highly recommend Caton Plumbing to all my friends and family and will use them again in the future if needed!

Efrain is the second plumber sent out from Catons. The first did not listen to me explaining the problem. Efrain did listen and now my plumbing problem is going to be corrected. I will only ask for Efrain in the future. He always goes above and beyond.

We called with a problem, leaky valve and a plumber was here within 4 hours. The work was done quickly and professionally and life is back to normal.

Incompetent and shady company. Do not waste your time, money and energy with this company.

If things are done correctly there are no issues. However, when something goes wrong, they get shady real quick. They don't call you back to resolve the issue, they cancel appointments without any advanced notice. It's a big hassle to work with them when something actually does go wrong. Don't expect your issue to actually be resolved, even though they offer your the 1 year labor guarantee warranty and charges are explicitly made on your estimates/invoices. Also, keep your records, because they don't keep theirs.

I had a tankless water heater installed by Zachary Garten #8072 in June 2022. Zach is a field technician, not a senior technician. Tankless water heaters require annual maintenance and need a maintenance kit installed in order to conduct this service.

I am now coming due for maintenance nearly one year after installation. I had two plumbers outside of Catons come to give me estimates for the maintenance service and I was informed by both of them independently that the water heater was installed incorrectly and does not even have the maintenance kit installed. It also does not have an additional shut off valve and the carbon monoxide vent is sloping downwards instead of upwards as it should be.

Further, I had Catons (senior technician) come look at the installation and they also agreed it was not installed correctly. Initially, the senior technician was telling me everything that was incorrect about the installation (in agreement with the two other plumbers), but I guess he did not realize that Catons was the company that installed it this way.

Once they found out that Catons installed the water heater, they got super sketchy. They told me managers would reach out to me. However, I have yet to actually get a callback from Catons managers. They made it sound like I would be called later that same day, and I waited two days before calling them. When I would finally get to speak with a manager, they would tell me I could get the maintenance kit installed but I would have to pay for the piece. At one point, they told me at the time of installation, I agreed to not have the maintenance kit installed in order to save a few bucks. This is incorrect. For one, why would anyone want a product that requires annual maintenance to be installed without the ability to conduct annual maintenance. Additionally, my estimate/invoice includes the maintenance kit. Further, there is another shut off valve missing and the carbon monoxide vent is sloping the incorrect way. For a plumbing replacement, Catons gives a one-year labor guarantee. So they are honoring this, but not the fact that I paid for the maintenance kit and they are trying to charge me for it again and they have not addressed any of the other installation issues. Further, one day Zach came out to my house and glued a corner pipe to the exterior vent pipe for the water heater. This was done without my knowledge or authorization. Even after it was completed, no one told me this was done until I discovered it on my own and then I brought it up to one of the managers. The managers, Jason and Dan, both confirmed with me that Zach did it.

Very quick response. Dave was here within an hour of our early morning phone call. He explained everything he was doing and what caused the sewerage backup. He also contacted Restoration for us. We were not aware of that service. They also have been most helpful.

I've been living with a running toilet for a month or more! Finally called Catons after doing some research. Jesse (Tech #2254) was very professional and friendly! He explained everything thoroughly and tested everything completely. He was even early to the scheduled appointment! I was extremely happy when the young lady from the office called and asked if it was okay if he can earlier than the scheduled appointment! I will definitely use Caton's again! And will definitely request Jesse!

The first technician Catons sent was a disaster. He was unable to find the house but kept insisting on the phone, irately, that he was in front of the house when he was nowhere in sight. He also grabbed my cordless drill off the counter without even asking (during a pandemic) to try to pull out the faucet body. When he couldn't get the faucet off, he announced that I needed a new faucet. In addition to this bizarre behavior, his command of the English language was too limited to communicate effectively about the job he was doing. I told him I didn't want him to install a new faucet, and he left. Quite frustrating, because I still had no water in the kitchen and had wasted several hours dealing with this.

Upon researching the problem further, I discovered Moen would send the necessary replacement part free of charge, but I decided to upgrade the faucet and picked one up from Home Depot. Then I requested a second technician from Catons to handle the installation.

Bruce, the second technician, did a great job. It took a little less than an hour, and he agreed to give me the hourly rate rather than charging for a flat fee for faucet replacement, which would have been nearly double the hourly cost, $400 instead of $200. He also explained how a trap works and why the lack of a trap in the right-hand sink (which I had not known about) was something that should be fixed. I would have had him make that repair today, but it would have been an extra $200 for fetching parts.

Having seen Catons' price list, I decided to use an independent plumber for reworking the trap.

Tim made time to come scope a main drain line from a house, which helped us satisfy a required inspection for a home sale transaction. He was on time, Beverly detailed, and provided valuable feedback which will ultimately help move this home sale along. Excellent experience

Really great service addressing a kitchen sink/branch line clog. Nick was very friendly and he addressed the cost up front. While not cheap, the service was very good and thorough and I trust we will not have more issues any time soon. We had a leak in the main shut off valve and Caton was able to get us on the schedule on short notice. Dave responded and was able to fix the leak and upgrade the existing pipes to ensure that weather will not cause issues in the future. Had a wonderful experience with Sanga from Catons! He is very professional and extremely pleasant to work with. After discovering a leak from my water heater, I called Catons. They were able to send someone to look at it in one hour. Sanga quickly assessed the situation, calculated the additional parts required (due to the age of the old heater), and explain the process of getting it replaced. Sanga came back the next day with Ro, a new trainee who was also delightful, and completed the job! I have no complaints. I'll be calling Catons for any future plumbing needs.

They were very thorough troubleshooting. They were there for quite a while to make sure they weren’t missing something. Friendly, polite and professional.

Basement bathroom pipes clogged, everything backing up into shower and toilet also leaking at base. Catons was responsive, professional, and thorough. Received phone updates as to the status of the service technician’s arrival at the house. Technician replaced a valve that was leaking behind the toilet, removed toilet, cleared the pipes, reinstalled, and we were able to use the bathroom within a couple of hours. Very very pleased.

I woke up to two leaking pipes two days before Xmas. Catons was the only local plumber who could send someone that day. There was no service charge for coming to provide an estimate. Although their 1/2 hour labor rate is extremely high, the plumber did excellent work and everything was fixed within 3 hours.

I’ve used Catons Plumbing and Drain for many plumbing issues over the years. I bought a house that was flipped and naturally it has come with serious issues. Bruce Jordon was my plumber this time for a plumbing leak and a new water heater. The plumbing leak came as no shock because the pipes were put on wrong and covered up. The leak could have been happening for years and finally it caused enough damage on my wall for me to notice . Bruce did an amazing job fixing the flippers mistakes, making sure everything was up to code, and more importantly making sure I understand what the issue was. He also did an amazing job cutting the drywall. I’ve had plumbers in the past that just knock a big hole to get to the leak and he cut a perfect rectangle. The water heater he came back to replace and that too was no easy task. He had to unhook my HVAC piping and squeeze through a tiny entrance to get to the 30+ yr old water heater. I’m very impressed with his work.

I would recommend Catons. They tend to be on the higher end of price, but you are getting good quality and great customer service.

My water heater breaking felt like an utter catastrophe. Water was leaking out of the vents, out of the light fixtures, even out of the smoke alarms. I was panicked and did not know what to do. Luckily, I called Caton's Plumbing. Their team of competent Water Mitigation professionals came promptly, using a slew of technology and time-tested experience to stop the problem at it's roots, and mitigate any and all issues related to it. By the end of the day, they installed all the necessary equipment to dry and dehydrate my house. By the next day, I was getting a new water heater installed. By the end of the week, the water mitigation had successfully finished, and I was able to move on with my life.

My appointment was for a 4 hour window. The morning of the appointment I received a phone call with exact time plumber will arrive. Plumber arrived on time and was professional. Completed work quickly and cleaned up work space in the bathroom even placing the rug back in place I had moved before his arrival. I have used this company for years and am always pleased with their work.

We had a drainage and a leak problem. After the tech arrived and saw the problems, we agreed on an estimate of $547 and off we go. Once the tech gets paid, he said he fixed the drainage but wanted another $250 to fix the leak because he didn’t have the part and he would have to come back with the part so the extra money would cover his 2nd visit. We’re new in town but you’ve got to be kidding me. I can’t imagine they get too many referrals.

My HOA always uses them. Their repairs have been costly and a headache not by my choice since 2018...
I learned my lesson, Now the moment I hear that plumbing snake sound in my building or see them in my building .. I immediatly call and pay a licensed plumber from any other company to come immediately to witness and document their repair, diagnosis or unclog or their attempts to protect me and witness and document to protect my plumbing my unit and me from repeating another nightmare.. it is stressful and extremely costly!

I am impressed they offer 24/7 emergency hours including holiday and weekend when most other licensed plumbers are closed.... but, is the stress and need to hire another licensed plumber to repair their work is it worth the 247 convenience?
maybe they could be ok and handle SFH plumbing basics like a simple unclog of a bathroom or kitchen sink drain or maybe a basic toilet plunge.... but not anything more...

maybe with more training, experience, licenses, professional education and certifications they could improve, as well as if Caton plumbing would provide employees with proper equipment mentorship and supervision....

I hope Caton Plumbing will choose to invest in their employees and help them get licensed and certified and trained by expert master licensed plumbers...

Until then, I will continue to be stressed, overpay, and check credentials and licenses...

Catons gave me a $5k estimate, including a veteran’s discount to bust up 30 feet of concrete and replace a collapsed line in my basement. They told me to remove my flooring (laminate) before they arrived so that the team could access the concrete. I ripped up the flooring as instructed, but when the team arrived they only had to dig a 2 foot hole and replace a small elbow connector. So my floor is ruined and there was no need for it to be. While the team and everyone I encountered were friendly, they left the dug up concrete in my yard and charged me the exact same price for the work. They also installed the pipe with multiple rubber connections, making the pipe crooked. I sent pictures to the estimator, he said this was all normal quality work. I will post pictures so you can judge for yourself. I would not recommend this company.
