To be fair, the team at Design Lab did get our vision for the kitchen and bath remodel we planned, and their designs did, eventually, work out. HOWEVER, we’d suggest, should you opt for their services, to be very clear about what services they plan to provide and to be certain that they are doing what they promised correctly. In our experience:

1. Design Lab represented themselves as the lead team for our remodel. Without telling us, after we hired the contractor they introduced us to, they signed a contract with the contractor and Design Lab became a subcontractor. This created confusion for all parties throughout the project.
2. We kept the same footprint in the kitchen. Despite this, Design Lab did not measure the existing cabinets correctly. The cabinets they ordered for one wall would not have fit. Fortunately, the contractor identified that issue, but it led to a 2-week delay.
3. There was a gap from design to construction, which was our choice. By the time the project started, the kitchen cabinets we had selected were no longer available. Rather than telling us, Design Lab simply ordered different cabinets they thought we’d like. We didn’t like their choice. This led to a 4+-month delay, during which we had no kitchen.
4. Design Lab often did not order sufficient quantities of materials (like tile, cabinet filler, crown molding, kitchen cabinet knobs). In the deal they made with the contractor, Design Lab apparently maintained control over ordering materials and supplies. This added time and frustration, because projects could not be completed in one visit from the trades brought in by the contractor. All these issues led to completely using the contingency piece of the project budget, even though there was only 1 change order ever made.
5. Design Lab incorrectly ordered the backsplash tile, when they made up for the shortage of the first order. We had 2 different style tiles waiting to be installed, but fortunately this was spotted by the contractor before the tile was to be installed. Design Lab also ordered kitchen knobs that were different from what was in the specs.

All of this made a project the contractor estimated would take 6 weeks ultimately take 8 months!

Sandra and her team are extremely talented. Their attention to detail is impeccable and their eye for great design is undeniable. My wife and I met with Sandra, Bri, and the whole team recently and had an amazing experience!! We’re building a custom home in Scottsdale (our first) and the design process became quite overwhelming until we discovered the magic of the Design Lab. From our first email and phone call I could tell that they were true professionals with a keen eye for our modern farmhouse aesthetic. We set up a 2-hour appointment at the Lab and met with the whole team who carefully and thoughtfully laid out each room all the way down to the cabinets, flooring, lighting, hardware, countertops, and plumbing fixtures. The designs were fresh, unique, and exciting and totally exceeded our high expectations. To be able to check all the boxes at a single location in just a couple hours is incredibly valuable and unusual. We would’ve spent countless hours for each product selection and had “too many cooks in the kitchen” blending their thoughts about style and selections. The design lab provides a one-stop shop with talented designers and an unmatched cohesiveness. Their dedication and communication to finish off the project since the meeting has been impressive especially during this pandemic. I would strongly recommend this experience to anyone building or remodeling. You will not be disappointed!!

Great ideas & designs. They understand you & what you want & get everything right. Great personalities that are professional & get it all right! Jake helped me find the best lighting for my project, taking what I had in mind & making it work for my space. There’s a great range to choose from, they had everything I wanted. Very disappointed in Design Lab. We hired them for 2 bathrooms and a master bedroom closet. Contractors are still working but getting close to finalization yet there is still no closet which should have been here by now. Just heard from Bri that the closet will ship from Chicago July 26 and will be in Phoenix the following week. All of our clothes and shoes are laid out throughout the house making life miserable while one half of the house is blocked off for renovations. BE CAREFUL UP FRONT ON TIMING WITH THIS COMPANY and THEY WILL NICKLE AND DIME you along the way for various things they forgot to order. I will show you receipts if they say otherwise. Also, if doing bathrooms, know that they don't price the shower doors, sliding doors or granite counter tops. That will also be an expense you will pay additionally and you will have to order on your own as we did. Truthfully, you can do the design yourself. hind sight is 20/20. Hoping the closet get here soon!

Great place! I was looking for affordable flooring and they had tons of options. They let me take a couple of samples home so I could compare the flooring with my cabinets. The next area in my house that I redo I will definitely be going back there. The customer service and prices are unbeatable.

The design team at Design Lab was amazing! They helped us renovate our recently purchased home into our DREAM home. They have access to everything you need for a remodel; including high quality cabinetry, countertops, lighting, hardware and tile lines. They made it easy to coordinate the look we wanted throughout the entire home and stay within our budget.

This company referred us to a contractor who was married to one of the workers and didn't tell us. They redid much of the tile and trim multiple times, still a fail on all counts. They couldn't lay tile straight or even height, and cut the Schluter wrong multiple times, and forgot to glue the trap under the shower which would have resulted in flooding under the floor and the wall to fall out. We were out thousands and thousands of dollars before we fired them and finally got a new contractor to finish the job. If you want basic, track-home, contractor-grade performance, this is your place.

Update: This outfit advertises they are a remodeler, but turns out they do not do any remodeling, so we don't know why that is in their name, but instead just told us the contractor to use, and in bad faith failed to reveal the marriage connection, so that one can apparently get caught up on their delinquent divorce support payments. No such list was otherwise provided. The only thing provided were some floor tile and some Belmont cabinets, which were measured wrong, had wrong leg/support hardware, and missed a kickplate. We were told the tile is hard if not impossible to scratch, which turned out to be 100% wrong. The extra tile supplied was due to the other tile plus 10% overage all used up since it was all cut wrong. The job was not completed in time as we did not get the materials in time and we did not send any completed remodeling photos, despite the claims noted herein.

They have the Best flooring selections in town! Trust me, I visited all the flooring stores! Their customer service is top notch

We worked with the team at Design Lab to update our home. We took out some walls to open the space, replaced the flooring, painted the entire house, transformed 2 bathrooms and remodeled the kitchen. We couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out. Design Lab is THE place to go if you want someone that will work with you and your budget to get what you want.

I worked with Bri who did an excellent job designing my mid-century modern home. She made the process easy for me by not only designing but by coordinating the art, installation, trades, and work to pull off the design. Definitely 5 star work and service.

We/ve enjoyed working with Sandra and her team right from day one. It's been quite the process-working mostly virtually during the pandemic and while living out of state, but everything has gone smoothly and we are ecstatic with how our project has turned out (better than we envisioned!)

I am totally impressed with this unique concept, combining successful real estate listing with lovely offerings for remodel and design elements on the boutique side!
