We had someone come out to fix our unit on a Thursday, even though we were told they were coming Wednesday, and they said they needed to order a part that we need and they would come and fix it on the following Tuesday once the part comes. We wait and Tuesday comes and they delay us until Wednesday because they “lost the part.” We kept getting push back with no ac in our house forcing us to stay at a hotel while my grandma is in town visiting. Wednesday comes and we get no response making US reach out to get informed about what is happening. They tell us they are working on reordering the part but it won’t come until the next week because of the holiday weekend. I understand them losing the part is not completely on them but they were not very helpful other than that. They were going to let us sit in that house with no AC for an extra week because of THEIR screw up. The absolute LEAST they could do for us was get us a hotel for the weekend until they get OUR part that THEY lost. In the mean time my step dad was able to simply fix the ac unit himself instead of paying $1500 for poor services.

Great customer service from the first phone contact with the office to the service call. They called within 15 minutes of the home warranty agency providing my number and they had their staff out the very next day. He took the extra step of giving tips on how to more efficiently use the digital A.C. panel before completing the fix on the roof unit. This was the second provider sent by the home warranty people, after abysmal service from the first provider. Wish they would have used Desert Star first.

I was highly satisfied with this company and their customer service. My air conditioner stopped working over the weekend, and my Home Owner’s Warranty paired me up with Desert Star. They called me first thing Monday morning and had a technician here by 10 am. He diagnosed the issue quickly, but because of the age of my unit, did not have all the parts on hand to fix it immediately. He was back quickly and had everything up and running within an hour. He was polite and professional, and he answered all of my questions. Again, I was highly satisfied with Desert Star, and I would definitely hire them again and recommend their services.

I am so grateful for this company and my new AC unit. My husband and I upgraded from swamp to AC and Desert Star Air Conditioning offered us the best price (out of all the other quotes we received). They worked within our budget and also gave us recommendations of other products. They were just overall amazing. On time and even stayed until 10pm because we were having an issue with the fuse. They didn't rush to hurry up and get out of there because it was late. They wanted to make sure it was working properly and efficiently. The other thing, they picked up the mess they made. They swept up their mess, put the heavy garbage in their trailer and were off. It was like they weren't here (minus they new AC unit). Overall LOVES them.

This is absolutely the best air conditioning company I have ever used! I have home warranties on my properties and my air conditioning happened to go out in my home and a rental at the same time. As my luck would have it I got this company for both properties. Alyss is very polite and sweet and worked quickly to get the diagnostic scheduled. Had it scheduled for both properties the next day and they were fixed at both my home and the rental within 2 days. Ron was a great tech and had our home running same day while he waited for parts and the rental would have been running same day but we had to wait for the warranty company to approve. They even worked with me on payment for the rental seeing as though I use that income to pay for extras to fix. Absolutely wonderful company and crew! Highly reccomend!

I have a 2-10 warranty on my home. The AC went out and I submitted a service request. Desert Star was assigned my request. Excellent communication and true concern was what I received when I was put in touch with Allyse at Desert Star. The first call they sent Jim out. He diagnosed the problem and submitted a report that same day. Allyse got right on it and within 24 hours was back with me letting me know what 2-10 had determined. Allyse then ordered the part and got my AC repair on the schedule as quickly as possible. Cesar came out. A man of few words - up on the roof he went. 2 1/2 hours later, he came down and said, Turn the AC on. Well! - That did it! Problem solved, AC is running great. Thank you to all at Desert Star. Excellent service! They work hard - but make it look easy. I will refer them with confidence.

I highly recommend Desert Star Air Conditioning. Our old AC would literally be on all day and it wouldn’t cool below 83 degrees. It had been running like this for three summers. We finally decided it was time to replace it. We were stressed thinking the process would be a nightmare. Desert Star’s staff were professional, reassuring and knowledgeable. They made getting a new AC worry free. We replaced our old AC with a top of the line unit for a great price. We are so happy with our new unit and the service we got.

The worst hits at the worst of times, the Dead Of Summer!
This review cannot possibly do enough justice to what extent ownership “Mr. Salazar”, customer service “Allyse”& technician “Ron” did to make me and my family feel like their family. During the toughest of times in Tucson with 106 degree weather their expertise made the ordeal as painless as possible even with my irritable moods from the heat. They all made sure to expedite hard to find parts and get them here all the way from Utah within a day in a half!
Thank you all for going the extra mile and then some! WOW!!!

Great service with attention to detail. If you’re calling for service in the Summer people, be realistic, everyone is demanding immediate service so be patient. If they respond immediately, great, if they’re running behind it’s because there are other emergencies in front of you. When they get to you, they will do the job right.
We are very happy with their service and follow-up.

I am a Realtor and see a lot of different contractors. Desert Star in EXCELLENT. I used them on another property yesterday. The seller's HVAC contractor told me the HVAC was fine on a house my client was buying. I had a feeling that it wasn't working because the heat took forever coming out. I called Fernan with Desert Star for help ASAP. He came out and confirmed that the unit was not working. He did a couple of fixes and the unit worked perfect!!!! The buyer was so happy!

I cannot give them a higher score than 2 stars. I started this process June 8th. I was finished with a new unit 2.5 weeks later. It seems the communication between Desert Star Air Conditioning and Fidelity National Home Warranty (FNHW) is non-existent. As is the customer service from Desert Star Air Conditioning.

I cannot fathom the idea of 2.5 weeks to get the unit inspected, send in the problem to the warranty company, get the item replaced. If it were a direct transaction between Desert Star Air Conditioning and myself it probably would have been faster. But it was 2.5 weeks from start to finish. I asked for the manual/paperwork for the new unit. I was told by the office staff it was left in the A/C unit?.... Who does that? So I have no paperwork on the new unit from Desert Star Air Conditioning.

The technicians came the time they said they would. When it was all said and done... I was playing messenger between Desert Star Air Conditioning and Fidelity National Home Warranty (FNHW).

The office staff can do better.

Would I recommend them? Unfortunately I cannot.

I called and made an appointment to have my mini-split AC leak tested in April and was pleasantly surprised at the courteous, professional service from the first call through the expert performance of the technician. I HIGHLY recommend Desert Star Air Conditioning... you wont be disappointed!

Scheduling service takes a couple of days. Their A/C serviceman, Chris, is experienced and was prompt to root cause the problem. The main complaint I have is that they price gouge A/C parts. My repair required a simple Chinese made Definite Purpose Contact Switch that costs at most $20. They wanted $128 for the part !!! Ridiculous. So, I called the office supervisor to be reasonable on the price of the part. He unfortunately said they have to charge that high price so that they can stay in business, and that all other Heating /Cooling companies do the same. I disagreed, and suggested the business can be successful by using other business methodologies (instead of business greed that has hurt American families). I ended up purchasing a better (Made in Mexico) Emerson (White Rodgers) SureSwitch contactor online with priority shipping and replaced the part myself.

I don't normally go out of my way to write reviews, but this time I felt I needed to. My AC was leaking water and I have the 2-10 home warranty. Called for service and was rejected by another company in Tucson, they were too busy to come help. 2-10 then assigned me another company, Desert Star Air Conditioning & Plumbing, and I'm so glad they did. The next day a technician was assigned to me and immediately arrived at 8am, before we had to endure another day without air conditioning in Arizona. Jim was absolutely amazing. He was professional, friendly, and explained each step of the way what he was doing to get us back up and running. On top of that, he went out of the way and checked our entire system and made sure everything was in working order before he left. I have been with 2-10 for 4 years and have had many technicians from many other companies out at my house, and Jim was by far the best I have ever dealt with. I really can't say enough about what a great job he did, how friendly he was, how professional, and how happy I am to be back up and running again. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company (ask for Jim, trust me) to anyone who needs their AC repaired. If I ever need a future repair, this is the company I'm going to trust to fix my issues. Thank you Desert Star! And thank you Jim! You guys are great.

Im very impressed with Desert Star, since I’ve always had a horrible experience with my home warranty sending terrible contractors, I read Desert Star reviews so I felt relieved but like always I was expecting someone to drop the ball. Well it didn’t happen, I was extremely pleased from Allyse answering all my questions and giving me daily updates on te home warranty status for the approval of repair to them ordering the part and scheduling the repair. The service tech came out, fixed my unit and I signed up for a maintenance plan. This was painless compared to my past experiences with contractors!!!!

These guys just finished replacing my entire unit after coming to service it a couple times. They were so quick and so efficient and I really felt like the were going out of their way to do their best for me and my boys. I would and will use them again and again and would highly recommend to anyone.

BUYER BEWARE!!!! My home warranty sent these guys to diagnose and issue with my heat pump. They said the unit needed to be replaced. Home warranty covered part of the cost, but I paid over $600 out of pocket (including a bogus fee for an “extra man” even though they only sent one man to do the job). Not only did the installer violate code by running the condensate line to my plumbing vent stack, but in the process, he managed to drop a piece of pvc down the pipe and did nothing to retrieve it, nor did he tell anyone. This resulted in a chain of issues with my plumbing, and the damages amounted to WELL over $50,000. The company eventually removed the pvc from the drain, but they refuse to pay for the repairs for the damages. Absolutely horrible business, do not hire them unless you have tens of thousands of dollars laying around to pay for their incompetence.

Thank you! My ac went out so we were freaking out a little bit main because we have twin 4 year old's and it has been over 100 degrees. My warranty company (that i'm not happy with) first placed a work order with another company that said they would be by in a week... NOT HAPPY! so we called the warranty company and they sent Desert Star! Chris came by and was an awesome Tech!!! Unfortunately the motor was special order and may not come in for a couple of days... urr. Behind the scenes, the WONDERFUL Alyss was working hard to locate the part for us. She called later on that day and said You are going to love me! She located a part and Chris could install it tomorrow morning! YEAH!!!! So it's 100 outside and it will be 73 inside this weekend!!! Thank You !!!

Really bad experience, 3 days and couldn’t fix it, they charged 200 for the service and 200 one piece they changed but didn’t work , other company figured out and fix it 2 hrs , they logo said “one call fixes all”, I call them like 10 times and they didn’t fix it

I had called Desert Star earlier because I realized the AC temperature wasn’t holding and they were able to schedule me for the next day (thank god it wasn’t going to be a week). Our AC then decided to fully give out and the house got up to 87 degrees on a 106 degree day.

Felipe was the tech that was sent out to us. He was great! He called as soon as he was on his way and arrived when he said he would. Very friendly and nice, he was also very nice to our kitty. He was able to get our AC working within 20 minutes! So grateful to Felipe and Desert Star Air Conditioning and Plumbing. My mother recommended Desert Star to me and I will for sure be recommending them and especially Felipe to my friends. Thank you Felipe and Desert Star.

The blower motor on our furnace went out and we had Goettl come to check it out and give us a quote on repairs. They quoted an outrageous price so we called Desert Star and they replaced the motor and more for less than half of what Goettl wanted to charge us.

There service was excellent, the tech was extremely respectful and knowledgeable, and we got everything done on the same day.

I would definitely use Desert Star again if I ever need any HVAC work done again.

I called this company for typical routine maintenance and the tech broke the low pressure valve as he took off the cap and all sudden all the Freon was vented out. He claims that the previous maintenance tech had incorrectly service the unit and left the valve without the core piece and just put the cap on. The truth is that this unit was never maintained since it was installed and has been working just fine all this time with no problem whatsoever. I wanted to service it cuz I was planning to put the house on sale so as the new buyer have assurance the unit works just fine. After they broke it, they want to repair their damage and offering me a discounted price of $800 to fix their own fault. They claim their normal price is over $1000 so they know they had broke it and just offering discount to make up for it.

I highly advice to stay away from this company if you want to keep your equipment working and protected.

Great company to sell you on their units and great customer service to new customers...Then as others have reviewed as well, they have no balance on their labor fees. Purchased my unit 7 years ago. Was told we had a 10 year warranty. My AC unit went out, left a message about our issues. Left 2 messages and waited 2 days before I called again, I left a message as a new customer and they returned my call within 20 minutes. They sent a rep to review and told us the issue and how our parts are back ordered and hard to find. Then called back and told us they found parts and the great news is that they are under warranty. Told me that the labor was over $2,500.00 to install the 2 pieces. Not to happy that we have gotten 2 other quotes for less than half that price thinking we needed a whole new motor. Now that we know the issue the labor is less with 2 companies that never installed for us. Poor customer service for their customers and really sad that the company that installed for us has the worst fees then companies that are just doing the repair and ordering of parts. I called to advise them of the disappointment and Elise did not have any empathy and stated because we were returning customers she gave us a 500 dollar discount or it would have been more. Please choose a company that will not want to charge labor as the half price of their AC unit. Do not recommend as I do know other companies in Tucson support the customers that once gave them business. Not the promise Hernan (I think that is the owner) who helped out when making an AC unit decision when we purchased out home advised us on. Purchase from our company and you will get the service you need from a local business that will not take advantage in the long run. That was not true. Sad that we gave out his number and business info so many times in the past.

My air conditioner stopped and it was the hottest day in August. a friend of my neighbor had me call someone they used. Although they came in 1 half hr, they misdiagnosed the problem and (of course) recommended a new HVAC system. they replaced the capacitor, added refrigerant and told me I needed a new compressor. &250 later, it worked (for 2 days) and died again. since I just moved here, I called my realtor and she I had a warranty. I called them and they sent Desert Star. They told me (Chris) I didn't needed a capacitor, nor refrigerant, nor compressor. They replaced the coils and the unit works perfectly. Chris said I should get my money back. Being from the New York area, I laughed and said fat chance.
I called and got half. The point of this story is that Desert Star is competent, honest and professional. Chris was superb and Elise in the office is excellent. I would recommend them to anyone. 10 stars from me.

I am a tricky customer! I will be on the roof if I want to see what you are doing. I will google info to double check what someone is telling me. I will know if you BS me. I will expect explanations and a “free class” when I pay for work. I am not the stereotypical female. It actually frustrates me if I can’t fix things myself. (Youngest of 4 daughter’s and one son who all are do it yourselfers. Whether by osmosis or role modeling, our father taught us well!) Desert Star was super patient with me. They answered all my questions. They went over and beyond (way beyond) my expectations. They even got up on the roof of my house next door at no additional charge to help troubleshoot a squeaky damper. I am not sure I have seen a company work so hard do make a customer happy. Every worker and person I spoke with over the phone was respectful, patient and genuinely wanted to help. Fernan, Jim, Sean, Caesar, Manny and Allyse all were wonderful! It is hard to find businesses that actually try to earn your trust. They have earned mine! I highly, highly recommend Desert Star!
