Kurt showed up when nobody else was able to get me in for days! Install took about 2 hours. Not only that, but he managed to keep a very messy job very clean. Other than a new hot water heater, I could go down to my basement and forget someone just did dirty work down there! Very nice, very kind, I will definitely call him for my upcoming plumbing needs!!!

I had a leaking water heater I needed replaced ASAP and Kurt was quick to respond with quotes for various options. His quotes were in line with or better than others that I had received. We used KJM Plumbing to disconnect our kitchen plumbing before we had new countertops installed and to reconnect everything the following day. Because the installers had a cancellation, they moved up our installation date and we had only a couple of days to find a plumber. Based on reviews, we contacted Kurt on a Saturday. He responded and said that he could work us in on Tuesday. He was on time, quick but careful with his work, and very friendly to talk with. He also worked us in so that he could come back the next day and reconnect everything. We were very pleased with the quality of his work, his price, and his willingness to meet our time frames and fit us into his schedule. Over the past weekend, I did not have any hot water. I called 4 different services on Angie's list and Kjm was the first to call back.
He walked me through step by step to first check everything out on the panel of the water heater. With a lot of time and patience, we were able to care of the situation over the phone. I have always used a local plumber, but he did not call me back until the following Monday.
Kjm is not in my town but the next time I need plumbing service, I will not hesitate to call Kurt.
All of the reviews I read were all customers happy with the service Kurt gave. You can add me to that list.

I called KJM Plumbing & Heating because my water heater went out and I was looking to have someone come out to repair it. Kurt correctly identified the problem over the phone and told me how to fix it myself. This was incredibly kind and helpful and it saved me hundreds of dollars. Kurt responded quickly enough. The PVC was broken in a bathroom faucet, and he claimed that he would have to take out the sink, break down the dry wall and cabinets including the one in the kitchen (!) in order to fix the problem. After he suggested that it could cost thousands to fix the problem, I told him I would get a second opinion. Kurt said that it would still cost me $100 for the visit which he would take off only if we hired him. I said fine. The second opinion not only gave us a quote but also installed a new PVC and a new faucet in less than an hour. This was a huge savings over what it would have cost if we had gone with Kjm. The only reason I am giving Kjm 2 stars instead of 1 is because Kurt agreed to waive the cost of his visit later. At least that part was professional after his really bad assessment.

I never do reviews on places.... until now!!. We recently moved into an older house with a non-working water softener. Literally, Kurt came out to our house within the day of inquiring about it. And installed the entire system for us, while working with us on costs!!! AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE. Kurt, you are the man! Keep up the awesome work, and we will contact you in the future!! (Even for pet pictures and sweet tea!!) :) Would 100% recommend!

Kurt was very responsive, friendly and professional. We've had no problems with the new heater - he wouldn't even bill us until he knew it was working!
We woke up one morning to find we had no hot water. I left a message for him, and within a couple hours we were exchanging photos of our setup and I had a rough quote. He came by later that morning and started removing the old heater, while his associate brought in the new one. It was all very fast, efficient, and well done: they work area looked as if the new heater had been there all along. On top of all this, Kurt was very friendly and I'm happy to recommend him.

Our water heater started leaking so I called them at 6:30 in the evening and kurt responded right away. He was here the next morning and installed a new one and also fixed the cold water handle and was done before noon. They always clean up everything so you wouldnt even know they were there. We have used them before and they are the only plumbers we will use.

Talk about an AMAZING Businessman! Our plumbing person in Oregon retired and we needed a new plumber to install a new water heater. Went online to Homedepot.com on Saturday morning and requested a price quote. Kurt called us back within 30 minutes on a weekend! Where in the world do you get that kind of response. He was very detailed that we needed some updates and was at our house 8:30 on Monday morning! Very respectful man, very upfront on pricing and cleaned and went over everything in complete detail! I was put in touch with Kurt through a home warranty company. He called, asked questions as to what was going on with my hot water heater, came over to inspect and THEN got all of the information over to the home warranty company by 9:30 pm that night. Mind you this was a Sunday night. I feel like I owe him a homemade baked cheesecake or something. His professionalism, kind demeanor and expertise made me feel at ease. Our tankless water heater stopped heating but there was no error message or anything. I texted Kurt at about 5:40pm knowing it was after hours and just thinking he would touch base the next day. He responded right away and even did some research for us on our specific unit. He walked us through some options to see if any resolved the issue including how to flush our system - which worked! Our problem was fixed AND he saved us a visit. Super nice guy and I would definitely use him again!

Kurt was extremely helpful and friendly. We were assigned him through our home warranty, and called us almost immediately (sometimes takes days). He walked me through how to fix the clogged sink myself over the phone, which worked on the first try. He never ended up having to come out which saved us a lot of time and money. He definitely did not have to do this, and could have charged us for service that was really just a quick easy repair. That kind of service is extremely rare these days, and I am very grateful for it. I would highly recommend Kurt and KJM Plumbing to anyone in need of service in the Madison area.

Highly recommended! When the hot water goes out, a pipe bursts or a toilet is overflowing I'll take a plumber I can trust over a doctor I could trust! When our hot water heater went out, Kurt was able to do much of the troubleshooting over the phone. Instead of advising us to do a replacement, he was able to quickly determine what parts were needed and got them installed the next day saving us a bunch of money. He was professional, knowledgeable and very friendly. It was very obvious that he was more concerned about taking care of our problem at the best price instead of his profit. As long as we live in Wisconsin KJM plumbing will always have our business.

I was put in touch through a home warranty company. Kurt came out the next day, on a Saturday. I thought great service but now I have been strung along for 3 weeks and still no water heater. 2 of those weeks they were battling about who was to get me a water heater. Then I decided I would just pay outright and was promised the 3rd week. I still don't have hot water. Now I am looking at a different company. Hopefully with better luck.

They installed a gas water heater in less than 2 hours, and was very easy to get on their schedule. 100% recommend. We contacted KJM Plumbing on a Thursday afternoon because our 30 year old water softener was leaking and we needed to do something about it quickly as we we’re getting ready to leave on vacation and had house sitters stay at our home. They were the 6th company I contacted. All the others had no availability for days, sometimes weeks.
KJM Plumbing asked for photos to help diagnose the problem and they were able to come the next day to put in a new water softener. The price was very reasonable and everyone we dealt with was super helpful and friendly.

Kurt even helped us sort through a warranty issue with our water heater. KJM is the first company who responded to my inquiry on Angie's List. After taking to a couple of companies, I eventually selected KJM to replace an 80 ga electric water heater with a 50 ga hybrid electric water heater with a heat pump, partly because I read a review about Kurt helped out a senior fix a problem on a weekend even without charging her and I would like to support good people's businesses. It doesn't appear to me that many local companies have a lot of experience with hybrid water heater yet. Kurt appeared to be knowledgeable, and always communicated promptly. Kurt and Duke showed up on time on the scheduled date and did an excellent job replacing the water heater. They are pleasant and caring people to deal with. They cleaned up well and I would use them again. Actually I already asked Kurt to help fix a leaking faucet in the house, and I will update the review on whether they consistently deliver excellent service and value.

Seriously good service.
Our water heater broke and began leaking leaving us with our water turned off for several days. So we needed something quick.

Kurt has done a couple jobs at one of my rental properties -- an old building with old pipes. He installed a 75 gallon gas water heater (scoring an awesome deal on it for me and coordinating with MG&E for the meter too); he piped a laundry sink that was out of commission; he properly fitted a P trap under a tight vanity sink.

His piping is practically a work of art. And, unlike most other Madison plumbers these days, he's both prompt with scheduling and fair with prices. He gives sensible advice, he cleans up when he's done, and I have no hesitation about referring him to anyone for any plumbing job.

I got connected to KJM through Home Advisor Pro - a service I had never used before - when searching for a plumber to replace our broken water heater on short notice. Kurt from KJM contacted me right away by text and gave me a great quote (over $500 less than another I had gotten for the same water heater). I had them replace an old capital water softener. I work in the trades as well and know that the current supply chain is an issue. In this case it didn't involve the supply chain issues. Also, the problem isn't about the work they did. The problem is their customer service. The capital water softener that they installed didn't last past 200lbs of salt. Less than 2 years old(only 2 adults in the house) I know this isn't KJMs fault. So, I called over a month ago(7-24-2022) and I'm still waiting to hear if I'm on their schedule. I didn't think it would take over a month to even be put on the schedule. I've contacted them a few times to ask when I will be put on their schedule and was given the runaround. If you don't want to stand behind the product or work you do that's fine. Just tell me so I can find another company that does warranty work for capital water softeners. Also, I was raised in a family that runs a small business so I know the struggles of a being a small business owner and I really didn't want to write this review. But communication is quick and simple these days and that's why I'm upset.

Our water heater was leaking we purchased a water heater and considered installing ourselves but we just weren’t very comfortable with it. We reached out to a few plumbers in the area and Kurt was quick to respond, was upfront on pricing, and got us scheduled quickly (even came on a holiday). He was on time and since we are newer home owners showed us how to make sure the pilot light was lit and how to light it.

Kurt responded to an after hours service call within minutes. Unlike the other two companies I contacted, he was the only one who responded timely or showed a sense of urgency. By the time the other two companies responded, Kurt had the new water heater installed. AND, His pricing was $500.00 below both other estimates (for the same water heater). Great guy, great service. Use him with confidence that you hired a professional with solid business integrity.

Kurt came to the rescue on a Sunday and fixed some defective components in my water heater. At first the manufacturer only wanted to cover the thermocouple, but Kurt knew that the ignitor was the real issue. I called the manufacturer back and got the ignitor. He tried installing the thermocouple first, but he was right, both needed to be replaced. I'm glad I chose KJM.

I had purchased a water heater and had contacted Kurt for the install. After exchanging a couple pictures, I had bought the wrong one, and where I had purchased the original didn't have the one I needed. So calling to cancel the job, he said lemme makes a couple calls. Low and behold it was such a slick process that the heater and installer showed up at the previously designated time despite the extra leg work on his part. Two hours later we had a new water heater and hot water!!! An amazingly easy process start to finish and we are so grateful and appreciative of the extra efforts. Highly highly recommend!!

Kurt came to my home the same day I called to check into why I’d lost hot water . It was a Saturday and he said he could swing by. He found that the gas flame had gone out and he relit it. Simple. And then he showed me why the laundry tub faucet dripped and did another easy fix. Then he was off to complete his errands. He didn’t charge me! I’ll use him again when I need a plumber knowing he won’t tell me I need something expensive when I don’t.

We have a home warranty and KJM was the assigned contractor for our service request. Kurt contacted me, on a Sunday, within a half hour of me placing the service request with the home warranty company to get additional information on our problem. KJM was at our house replacing the water heater by noon on Monday. The work was done professionally and within 24 hours of me requesting service. Well done, KJM!

I cannot say enough about Kurt at KJM Plumbing. If I could give him 10 stars I would! He remained in contact with me after I was unable to keep the original appointment to replace my water heater because the warranty company threw a wrench in the process. Once I finally received their authorization I contacted him on a Saturday hoping to schedule his next available appointment and he went above and beyond and came on Sunday to install the water heater because he knew I had been without hot water for over a week. He was fast and efficient and had the water heater installed in less than an hour and a half. He even recycled all of the cardboard from the water heater and parts. I would definitely recommend KJM Plumbing!

Our water heater died on Saturday, purchased a new one and the earliest time available was Monday. Kurt contacted us Sunday morning as soon as the parts were ready for pickup and asked if we wanted the install that morning, no extra charge! He picked up the parts as soon as the store was open and went straight to work as soon as he got to our house. Extremely professional and honest. I highly recommend!

Outstanding plumbing service! I went from a gas oven to electric and the gas line stuck too far up above the floor to push the new oven back. KJM came out the next day and properly installed a lower pipe with a cap so that a future home owner could go back to a gas stove if they choose to. Got exactly what I needed with lightning fast service! He was very professional and personable, I highly recommend KJM.
