This company did not perform as expected, it failed to do the job(s).
My elderly parents, 85yo and 90yo with health issues, required plumbing repair at their home. 1. The bathroom toilet cast iron flange needed to be cut off and replaced because the subfloor had been replaced. 2. The bathtub required clearing the drain and 3. a new sink faucet installed. I called Newman’s because they had positive customer reviews for their professionalism and high rating. Initially they promised to be at the house the next day, I called late the following day to see why the plumber hadn’t arrived.... subsequently someone was dispatched late to my parents home. I conferred by phone with the plumber regarding the work effort and cost prior to starting the job. They estimated the drain and faucet would be $150.00, and the flange replacement as unknown until the number of hours were calculated in. Since I was out of town we agreed to transact payment by credit card phone. Later, after the plumber had completed some work he presented my mother with a $XXX bill which she paid. Why didn’t contact me as instructed IDK! I called the next day to inquire and didn’t reach anyone. I called the following Saturday and talked with the owner that was aware of issues the tech experienced, but didn’t have much information regarding what was performed. I indicated the tech had arrived late work on the following day worked on the toilet drainage pressure, didn’t resolve it, and presented another $XXX bill of a similar amount. The owner couldn’t contact the tech for more details and indicated he would call Monday or the tech would call back to discuss the issue and cost.... it’s been four days and I haven’t received any explanation from anyone!!!
The flange repair was completed. The bathtub drain was augured and not cleared; left in a messy state with black debris. The toilet drain was augured to improve drainage pressure and clear any obstruction—not fixed. The sink faucet replacement was never performed.
Bottom line— they presented 2 separate invoices for essentially the same work effort, one each day and would have billed a third time if allowed to return. They took advantage of the elderly—- unscrupulous and unprofessional!!
