We had a leak in the supply line from the meter to the house.we contacted Sutherland Plumbing, and The Owner came out and determined where the leak was, and quoted the project,and scheduled an appointment.
They showed up right on time, and did a super job. They really got their act together, and are very personable and efficient.
In my opinion they are the best ever, and highly recommend them.

Sean and Nate arrived right on time this morning to completely replace our kitchen drain system. They wore protective masks and gloves the entire time from start to finish. Don't be afraid to call them to do work now, they will follow all the proper covid procedures. Their work looks perfect and they left the work areas very clean. I would recommend them to anyone. You can expect a very fast response from them when you request help!

We have used Sutherland Plumbing LLC for several projects which include a new hot water heater, an access panel with new fixtures for a whirlpool tub, and installation of a new toilet. Most recently, we received a service call November 14, 2019. We would not call anyone else.

I had a leak in the water line between the street and my house that required a new water line installed under my driveway, under the foundation and hooked up to my existing pipes. Ti and crew arrived on time with a directional boring specialist and even arranged for a flag crew to monitor traffic in front of my house. I was surprised at how quickly and efficiently they accomplished the job.
My house is 25 years old, so Ti installed new shut off valves for me at main meter, irrigation turn on/off and new shutoff valve under the house, all of which I can operate myself.
I also had him install a new water heater and a recirculating pump.
Everything they installed is top of the line and according to code. When the City of Portland inspector came out and saw the Sutherland truck, he smiled and said he trusted Ti and his crew to do quality work always according to code.
Lastly, as a courtesy, they went through my house and checked all faucets and drains and even installed a new hose bib outside that was dripping.
I have had to call Ti with some questions since they completed the job and he always returns my calls and helps me. I’m delighted to highly recommend Sutherland Plumbing and will always call them for any plumbing needs.

Ti and his team replaced a water supply line to our house. Despite being pretty booked up, Ti was able to fit us in and get us a bid within a couple hours of our initial call. Ti was very straightforward in his explanations, and made sure we understood each of the issues and proposed resolutions. We really appreciated that Ti worked to help us make informed decisions during the process. On the day the replacement was performed, Ti and his team were courteous and timely, continuing to be straightforward and honest about the work being done. There were no surprises, and the work performed was exactly as described in the bid. We most certainly will be giving Ti a call if/when we need plumbing service in the future.

One other note - these guys really get customer service. Ti noticed that we had yet to recycle our Christmas tree, and when he noticed a wood chipper at a neighbor's house down the road, offered to carry it down to get rid of it for us. We really appreciate the small touches and fantastic customer service!

We had such a great experience using Sutherland Plumbing. Sean was on time, wore a mask the entire time and solved all 3 issues we were having. He was very thorough and gave easy to understand explanations. He also gave us some helpful advice if we have future issues.

We contacted Sutherland Plumbing at the recommendation of one of our contractors. Ty Sutherland takes enormous pride in his work. Not only did he replace our rusting water line, but he also identified and fixed some other plumbing issues that could have caused us heartache later. He is very careful to present alternatives and list the pros and cons of each approach. He and his team stayed late to make sure the work was done to his exacting requirements. I cannot say enough great things about Ty and his team, very grateful for their high quality work.

I wasn't present during the estimate, but my wife said that they were very courteous, professional and informative. The problem turned out to be an issue for the mobile park we live in and not for our trailer, but they gave us info and options to improve the plumbing in our home. They identified the problem and gave us estimates very quickly

I did not use this company and for good reason. I had a leaky tub faucet and they recommended a complete replacement of all the tub faucets and valves. This would have required them to demolish some new bathroom tiles i had put in. The estimate was $1,800+

I called another company to get a second estimate and they fixed the leak by simply replacing the tub faucet cartridges. The cost was $300.

If you are using Sutherland and feel something doesn't add up, TRUST YOUR INTUITION and call someone else. DISHONEST!!!

We had our old water heater go out unexpectedly after it started spouting out really hot water and then no hot water. We knew it was time for a new electric water heater, so after calling around a couple different shops, we decided to go with Sutherland.

They were responsive from beginning to end, with Courtney in the office answering our call and connecting us with Ti over text who gave us a few different options. One thing that stood out while we were deciding on who to go with was their thoroughness in asking for pictures of our current set up, instead of just throwing out a $$ quote. They also install US-made Bradford White heaters which was a plus for us.

For the actual install, Cameron and Nate did an excellent job. They were punctual (to the minute), professional in explaining the job, and thorough in their job quality (with Nate even sweeping up our back porch!). They even replaced a few old faucet heads around the house.

Sutherland isn't the cheapest option in town, but if you're looking for quality work (they don't cut corners), knowledgeable plumbers who will take the time to tell you what they are doing, and a team that will work quickly but not hurry, I'd highly recommend these guys.

Wow, such amazing service. Sutherland installed a new water heater for us about three years ago. On Friday, it started making a funny humming/vibrating noise. We called them and they contacted us right back and continued to text with my husband about when they might be able to come out. Today (Monday), my husband contacted them again to see if anyone could pop by because the noise was getting to us. Ti, the owner, made time to swing by and found the problem wasn't the water heater, but our doorbell malfunctioning and sending a noise through the water heater's copper tubing. He fixed in in a minute. Was literally in our home less than five minutes. We are so thankful and continue to be fans of Sutherland.

I am so happy I found Sutherland Plumbing. We've had them out for a couple of jobs before (replacing an ancient water heater, installing a pressure valve on our supply line) and they just came through again for us.

We had a tile company out to install a new bathroom floor and in the demo yesterday, we found that the toilet had been leaking. In addition the supply line valve wouldn't close completely so we had water continuing to leak. They sent Sean out here the next day and he not only fixed the leaking valve, but also figured out a sturdy, temporary way to install the toilet on the subfloor while also raising the flange so that it will be the appropriate height once the tile is installed.

We only have one bathroom in our house so if he hadn't been willing/able to make it work, we would have no toilet until we could get the tile installers back out.

I have confidence in the work they do, which is really important as I plan to live in this house for the long haul and I want things done correctly. Plus, everyone I've dealt with has been really nice and they explain things to me that are helpful to know as a home owner (without treating me like I should already know these things). They have earned my loyalty.

This is the third time I’ve had Sutherland take care of separate issues and I’m so appreciative of their commitment to excellence. Fast, efficient, professional and friendly. I had 3 separate items that needed attention. While I was very happy with the nice men who came and looked at the problems, their answers were super expensive! One problem was a gasket in the toilet. They explained how they only like another brand of toilet and if I wanted them to replace the whole toilet They could do that. The price seemed 3 or 4xs more than going to get my own. I did get the gasket # from them and ordered it from Amazon for 6$! I installed it myself! I'm frustrated that they didn't even offer that as a fix. They would have had a life long customer if they were looking out for me, instead of trying to make a small job into a big ticket item.

Installed new main water line from the street, water heater, water pressure regulator, and brought electrical grounding up to code.
$1485 for water heater;$6,115.50 for the rest. Total $7,960.50.

We were extremely pleased with Sutherlin Plumbing. They were professional, very responsive to our calls and showed up on time. Ti and his team of subcontractors were a pleasure to work with. They did high-quality work, brought everything up to code and went the extra mile. The contract was clear and detailed. Clean up was thorough.

Sutherland has special equipment that allows for greater efficiency and less impact to my property. He minimized the size of the holes in the concrete by using a machine that injects water and sucks out gravel and soil.

At no extra charge, they replaced an outside faucet, emptied out my sink trap, replaced faulty faucets aerators, repaired concrete in driveway, repaired a damaged waterline in the house, and installed extra shut off valves.

Can’t say enough good things. They installed our tankless water heater. They were on time, very professional and communicative. The level of craftsmanship and attention to detail was excellent. It’s really obvious they are of the mindset “if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right”. We will be hiring them for our future plumbing needs

My partner and I struggled for weeks to decide on the right company to install a new water heater. We've had some bad experiences with contractors. I don’t think I have ever had such a strong feeling of confirmation that yes, I 100% chose the right people for the job as I did after Sutherland wrapped up the work. Can’t say enough good things about the team and the work they did!

John and his team were by far and away the most responsive and communicative of anyone we reached out to about the job. Even late evening inquiries by me were met with swift responses. They spoke with confidence and in a manner I could follow/understand. Went out of their way to show us that they cared about having our business and about the job being done correctly. Yes, we had one other bid come in slightly lower, but in talking about the project and seeing final product I am confident we would have absolutely sacrificed the end-result for what was truly a minimal cost difference had we gone the other route.

When they arrived, they came with two trucks and 4 incredibly hard working and personable folks to do the job. They were insanely clean throughout the whole process and left everything impeccable. As the heater was being installed, folks were going to every single outlet and checking for pressure and blockage and other issues. They encountered a number of odd and unforeseen things (pieces of dip tube clogging aerators and pipes, pumping CO2 and vacuuming out incorrectly-built bathtub pipes to clear them out, etc) and quickly fixed all – without charging me a single penny on top of the original quote.

They were perfectionists. I overheard a lot of conversation that was all focused on getting things EXACTLY right with every part of the work. They treated the work like it was being done in their own personal homes. These are our guys now for ANYTHING related to plumbing.

I would give Sutherland Plumbing 10 stars if I could.

When we had a gas water heater that was leaking badly, Sutherland took care of us in a timely fashion. Their answering service was excellent. Courtney, the receptionist at the office, was an excellent liason/communicator between us and the the crew. Ti, the owner himself, came to our house to safely de-commission the heater to minimize further water damage. When we discovered significant water damage to our home, the company was flexible to allow us enough time to repair the water damage and still get the new heater in ASAP so we wouldn't have to go to a motel.

Sean Anderson, the plumber who did the installation, is knowledgeable and professional and meticulous in every way. All the fittings and attachments were done in a secure and aesthetically pleasing way. He answered all our questions patiently. He educated us in ways to minimize future plumbing problems. He went the extra mile advising/helping us with other plumbing concerns.

I definitely recommend Sean and Sutherland Plumbing. Sean called and updated me on his timeline the day of the appointment, and then he did a great job repairing my two faucet issues. It's nice to work with a company that communicates well and does excellent work. Fair price too.

I had a water heater go out unexpectedly and called Sutherland at the suggestion of a colleague. Ti called me back within a few hours (even though I was told I'd have to wait till the next day) and was at the house the next morning. He and his partner worked all day to get my old heater removed, the abysmal plumbing done by the previous contractor taken out and replaced, and everything reinstalled and up to code and looking good. When I went down there the next day in the daylight to lock up I found they even cleaned all the leaves and debris off my lower deck on their own initiative. I know who to call for my next plumbing job.

I sent a message to Sutherland Plumbing and Ti came out the same day to review what was going on with my main water line. He was super friendly and explained what was going on and what he would need to do to resolve the leak on the main water line. He sent me a bid with in an hour of finishing up at my house and his team was able to get me scheduled in for the following week.

When Ti and his team came out, they did a great job replacing the water line. They completed the job in the time frame they scheduled. Once they finished they cleaned the driveway, put everything back in its proper place and showed and explained all the work they did. It was a great experience. I’m looking forward to working with Sutherland Plumbing again in the future.

It’s never convenient to discover you have a main water leak leading to your home, but even more so during a pandemic just days before Christmas. Sutherland Plumbing was incredibly accommodating diagnosing the problem, recommending solutions, coordinating the myriad of prework and players involved, and then completing the work quickly and efficiently. Their professionalism and friendliness was spot-on from Courtney who coordinates scheduling, to Ty who fielded my long list of questions and texts, to the crew who completed the work (Ty, Cameron, and Nathan), and even to the post-work review and paperwork. But it’s not only the quality of their work, work ethic, and how they interacted with me that makes them stand out. It’s the way they treat each other … they have such a rhythm working alongside each other, no hesitation to get in and get the job done, a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect for each other that just put me at ease during a stressful situation. While I hope I won’t have any more plumbing emergencies, I know that I’ll call on them again for any job ... big or small.

Cameron was prompt, polite, fast and knowledgeable (even on this 115 degree day). He diagnosed a mixing valve problem right away and fixed it on the spot. I’ll definitely use Sutherland again.

We had 2 really good plumbers came to the house and replaced our outdated (and small) pipes coming off the washing machine. It wasn't a known issue at first, but they suspected it from the problem we described and they made themselves available for us to contact if we had another issue - which we did. No problems getting in touch with the staff or the plumbers directly, and quickly responded. They were thorough and worked to the end of the job, helped move the washing machine and dryer back into place, and tolerated our annoying little dog.

I contacted several shops (6+) and was told over and over my one year old industrial garbage disposal was unfixable and would have to be replaced to the tune of hundreds of dollars! Well, fear not...Sean with Sutherland came by and fixed it for FREE! A coin had fallen into it (who knows how?!) and he was able to get it out in under 15min! Can't recommend them highly enough. We've been using Sutherland for years. They've done everything for us from fix a leaking graywater pipe in the crawlspace, to install a new toilet and sink, to replace a leaking hose bib, to upgrade all of the turnoff valves on the sinks so we'd actually be able to use them in case of emergency. We call them every single time because they are courteous, knowledgeable, and fair with their pricing while also making sure you get the highest quality materials that won't break again in the future. I like how you can communicate with them via text before your scheduled time because they work hard to collect any necessary information IN ADVANCE of the visit, so they don't show up without the parts they need. We had an upstairs shower leak down through our floor. Customer service/scheduler was friendly and prompt. John and Cameron came out a few days after my call and repaired the problem. They were courteous and did a great job offering details. John also offered a great referral to have our ceiling patched as well, so now everything is as good as new. Though home improvements are never fun, problem ended up being far less painful that I would have guessed.

Cameron & Jack installed 2 new toilets that we purchased from Sutherland for us and were very professional, clean, and efficient. We love our new toilets and would highly recommend Sutherland and will be using them for any other plumbing needs that arise!

Plumbers are hit and miss. We lucked out with Sutherland. Didn't try to upset us on new pipings or fittings that weren't necessary. Just came and solved the leak issue we were having under our kitchen sink. Definitely recommended!

I recently had to replace my water heater and other water supply valves that were needing attention. We hired Sutherland Plumbing to do the work, and they did a fantastic job! Our old water heater was getting to the end of its life, and we were always having trouble with having enough hot water to fill our large master bathroom tub. We were also experiencing high water pressure in our house that needed correction. Ti Sutherland, the owner of Sutherland Plumbing, was extremely helpful in providing me with solutions to take care of our plumbing problems. He took the time to answer all my questions. I really appreciated his efforts and willingness to spend the time to help me feel comfortable with deciding what to do. On the day of the water heater replacement, Ti and his senior plumber, Cameron, showed up at the appointment time on schedule. They completed the work that was agreed upon quickly and efficiently. Ti spoke to me about his goal with Sutherland Plumbing to do quality work and using best practices. I believe that he means what he says. With the water heater installation, they improved our natural gas pipe alignment and anchoring, which also runs to the furnace. They improved the A/C condensate pump drain line alignment (unkinked and removed sags), which had nothing to do with the plumbing work requested! Sutherland Plumbing was not required to do these improvements while fulfilling the contracted work, but Ti and Cameron included it as part of what they believed to be a quality installation. Overall, I am very happy Sutherland Plumbing with the high quality of work and service that they provided. They replaced the water heater and fixed the water pressure problem along with other plumbing improvements. We now have enough hot water for our family of five and as a bonus, can fill our large master bathtub!

I cannot speak highly enough about Ti and Cameron. I had a main water line and water heater that needed replacing and they came out the same day I called the office to diagnose my problem at no cost for the estimate. After explaining all the fundamentals of what needed to be done, they were back within two days and got the job done. They went above and beyond to clean up the landscaping near the job site as well. We had a leak detected from our water meter. Upon shutting off our house water supply, the water was still flowing. Ti came to our house to diagnose the issue and very thoroughly explained what the issue could be and our different options/costs associated. Thinking it could be an issue with the main water line, we scheduled a replacement. Ti and his crew were very easy to work around our busy schedule. Upon started the work, Ti and Cameron discovered the leak was actually an issue with irrigation and we had no need to replace the entire main water line. They were very honest and ended up saving us 1000s of dollars. Their service was very good and I would highly recommend them if you care about honesty and quality.

Extremely fast response and available appointment the following business day. Cameron was prompt, professional, cleaned up, thorough, and explained what was done afterwards. I had a busted pipe underneath sink leading to outside faucet replaced with something other than cheap plastic the builder used and a new water heater. Since I pressed my luck and had a 20 year old water heater, Cameron updated my house with an improved efficient water heater, updated the piping, and updated the safety of the unit and installed earthquake protection.
Very happy with the process, the service, and fair pricing. Would definitely refer to family and friends and use again.

I was totally overwhelmed starting with a knock on the door from a water district employee, telling me I had a major leak in my main line. I remembered my late husband telling me if I need plumbing help to call Ty Sutherland from Sutherland Plumbing. So I did! He was out within a day, explained everything to me, gave me two options, took the time to explain it again to my son. They had to put a new line in and they had it finished within 4 hours! Two weeks later, I had another major water issue at a home out of town and I called Ty once again. He came all the way out to look at the problem and gave me a recommendation on how to go about fixing the issue. In this day and age, it’s hard to find someone goes out of their way to help, is straight up, honest, kind and very reasonable repair costs. I will never use anyone else for any plumbing issue.

Fantastic overall service! Cameron was the best plumber we have ever had work in our home. He identified and explained the problem, then repaired the leak we have been battling for several months. I’ve hired Sutherland Plumbing a couple times now, and I have been very impressed with the work they do. Everyone I have encountered has been very professional, easy to talk to and extremely competent. My recent experience with Sean was no exception. He was very respectful of my home and made me feel at ease in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic. He wore gloves, a thick face mask, and shoe coverings at all times, and was careful about what he touched. He listened carefully to all my concerns and answered all my questions thoroughly. In the process of rebuilding a toilet, he even noticed the toilet paper dispenser was loosely mounted on the wall, and offered to re-mount it for no charge. Sutherland just replaced my main water supply line. The old line from the meter to the house had a leak. They were able to get a crew on the job the day after I called. Their team explained my options, then did a great job replacing the water main. They also ended up replacing our 20 year old water heater... all done in one day. The crew was easy to work with, were very professional, and did a great job cleaning up after the job was done. I couldn't be happier with their work. I highly recommend Sutherland.

Sent email on a Sunday to request an appt. Got an email back from Ti that day even though they were closed. He emailed back 6 days before the appt to ask to push it a week out and offered to waive the $149 fee. (shows great respect for my time and money).

Day of: called 90 mins before appt to say he was ahead of schedule and asked if I was free sooner. Showed up, let me walk him through the issue (a clogged kitchen/laundry drain that I had augered out twice before in the last 18 months by another company). I thought we'd have to replace pipes.

Ti explained that he'd like to try to auger again, a conservative and least costly step, because he thought the previous job should have lasted longer. (I really liked that he didn't bad mouth the other company's work - I'm not a fan of that approach. He did explain what he thought may have happened.) He was easy to trust and was able to explain in layman's terms.

He was done with the work in maybe 30 mins (the other times it took an hour or more). He had good news, and felt confident pipes didn't need replacing. (Again, explained why.)

They also have an organic enzyme pipe cleaner (we have used a lot of Drano) that will help treat build up along the way. (He even used a product before he left to help cut down on the unfortunate smell that the clogged drain had created.) Highly recommend these guys for their expertise and customer service. Even if it turned into a pipe replacement, I know who to call now.

It is not easy to find home services that are trustworthy, skilled, dependable and friendly, but we sure hit the jackpot with Sutherland Plumbing!

We have called on Sutherland Plumbing several times, the first was years ago, meeting Ty himself. A true professional, we made sure to keep their contact information for future needs. We've since had friends who have used their services and agree, they are the best!

Most recently, I needed to find the source of a leak. Cameron arrived as scheduled, and was honest and sincere in his estimations about what our issue was. I also had him look at the fixtures and toilet in one of our bathrooms, and again he was honest with what we needed. Cameron clearly communicated exactly what he would do, and followed this up with an estimate that landed in my email before I got back home!

When Cameron and Jack returned to do the work, it was completed in a timely manner, and they cleaned everything up and took away the old materials. They had to cut into the drywall, and did such a great job with that, it will be an easy fix.

Had a refrigerator water line updated and the main cutoff valve replaced. Sean and Nathan were prompt, respectful, and professional! They worked with care, cleaned up after themselves, and made sure that we were happy with the work before heading out. They then pointed me to a discount I didn't know about, so I could save some money on the service!

Our water heater tank started leaking on Thursday,I called to Sutherland plumbing later in the evening,received a call in the morning asking to send pictures of our tank and answered some questions. I had a quote 10 minutes later and received a call from Ti shortly after. His quote was very reasonably priced. Ti was at our house within an our and did an outstanding job! He went above and beyond our expectations, added additional valves,put depressurizing tank and made sure that tank stands sturdy in case of earthquake by putting extra planks on the wall.

Our water heater tank reached its end of life very dramatically in April of ’23. Needing to replace it ASAP, we called a few plumbers and after sending a quick text with pictures of our situation to Courtney at Sutherland, we were on a call with Ti. Ti took the time to explain the pros and cons of multiple water heater systems, leading us to land on two viable options followed by prompt quotes in our inbox.

Because we switched from a natural gas tank to an electric tank, Sutherland handled scheduling an electrician as well as the tank removal/install. Both appointments went smoothly, and Cameron and Jack who came to install the tank were so professional, kind and efficient. It was very clear from all of our interactions with the Sutherland team that they are true to their word, highly skilled, and live up to their motto of providing best practice over simply going for the minimum standard.

I called Sutherland after finding them on Angie's List. I recently had a new fridge installed and the installers warned me about the water line valve. Sean was great and talked me through everything it would take to get it fixed. Ultimately I decided not to move forward with the work, but he did a great job educating me about what it would take. Additionally, he was able to solve the mystery I had since I moved into the house 8 years ago about dripping sounds after using the kitchen sink.
