I am very well satisfied

This is my second time using Smylie One and I could not be more impressed. They've been quick to respond and extremely thorough with their assessment and recommendations. Their Technician, Dave, was simply fantastic - he was empathetic and creative with finding a way to keep the heat running over the weekend while we waited for the new parts and repairs on Monday morning. I was most impressed with how he followed up throughout the weekend ensure we were on track. He is as good as it gets!

So i woke up, was very cold in house. Checked thermostat, replaced batteries and still couldn't get furnace to kick on. Called, they had someoone out within 20 minutes. The repairman checked thermostat, I advised him I replaced batteries. The issue was the connection for the battery needed lifted to make contact. THAT'S IT, LOL. We had CO checked as precaution since furnace is more than 20 yrs old. I understand they have to charge for someone to come out but I don't think it was worth $110, but I get it. Was a costly repair seeing nothing needed repaired but we have heat and are awaiting an estimate for a new furnace and A/C. Would highly recommend, repairman was friendly, put on shoe covers, and gave suggestions (CO check), changing filters monthly, motor was squeaking and he advised the bearing was prob getting ready to go. That's why the estimate.

Installed a furnace for us in closing of house. Leaked water when AC on from day one where new furnace connects to duct. Furnace somehow was also disconnected from generator on install. I called and told them first summer and was told nothing they can do because it was not their duct. Clearly, it is because of new piping drainage and hook up but they would never be accountable. It now leaks massively. Actual owner Smylie seems very nice came out and rigged electric to furnace when power was out yet claimed it must of always not been connected to generator. He however seems to have very incompetent employees. Furthermore, we tried to use this company for plumbing and each time a guy comes out and then nothing. We have been told that guy quit so a new guy is needed. Stay far away from this company.

I waited too long into the season to turn on my gas boiler to find out it wasn't working and my house was <40 degrees during the day. I found this company thanks to people recommending them on Facebook and they came out to my house extremely quickly during such a busy season. Bill was able to quickly diagnose what the issue was, fix the gas boiler and multiple radiators while also teaching me how to bleed them on my own when air gets stuck in them. Bill and the office team were always extremely professional while providing amazing service at a great price for the area. I'll be using them yearly for my maintenance check ups and any future repairs or upgrades to the system.

Steve Smylie and his entire team are pan ultimate professionals and they always provide trustworthy and incredible service. In my work, it is important to pay great attention to detail (I am a physician) and Steve and his team have been incredibly wonderful to me as they respectfully check out any detail of possible malfunction with various systems, whenever I have a concern. I am fortunate to have had their teams contracted by me for decades and recently I had some major upgrades to my home with furnace, air conditioning and tankless hot water system. Technician had an opening and called the day before he was scheduled. He diagnosed and fixed the problem withinh 20 minutes. He was very professional, knowledgeble, and was social distant.

I utilized the Smylie One Plumbing Service. The young man was knowledgeable, honest, and very helpful. He made me aware that my faucet was under warranty, and even contacted the company to report the difficulty with the faucet to secured me a replacement of the defective part! He scheduled his next repair visit prior to leaving. He also checked all of my toilets for difficulty. He will be replacing one toilet on his next visit and repairing a second. It is nice to find a company I can trust!

Plumbing inspection

Our technician, Mica, was running late and informed us all along. Even though he was behind, he took a lot of time to insure that our AC was functioning well. He was very thorough.

Best service! Very responsive when you need service quick!

Our house was built in the 50's. We had an old galvanized drain pipe from our kitchen sink to the basement. Over the years standing water in the pipe (it was pitched the wrong direction) caused it to completely rust through. This caused sink waste to literally drain into our finished bathroom in the basement. We had to tear out the basement bathroom to get to the drain pipe. Called Smylie One and they promptly sent out Dwight to take a look at replacing the pipe. He gave us a very fair price and scheduled the time to come back out and fix it. Dwight had to cut into the soffit under the kitchen to access the rusted pipe. Dwight cut out all of the rusted pipe and replaced it with PVC. My suggestion to anyone with a house build in the 50's is to check your drain pipes for rust and think about replacing them with PVC. It's not if, but when the galvanized pipe will rust through. I have attached a picture of the rusted pipe. Great job Dwight & Smylie One!

Daniel Keith was an extremely punctual, polite and professional serviceman...one of the best I've ever had.

We changed our HVAC maintenance company from one we had had for years due to lack of response to several inquiries regarding the status of our older hvac units. Our experience with Smylie One, particularly Andres Ortiz, was refreshing. He made a minor repair to a loose wire on the heat exchanger, answered our questions regarding the status/condition of our older units and couldn't have been nicer. He came right on time and was very professional. The Smylie One van is frequently seen in our parking area, attesting to the confidence and satisfaction of the other units in our condo (over 90 high end units).

Since it’s a busy time of year, I was put on the waitlist for an appointment. The next day I already got a call for an appointment and they ended up coming even earlier than planned. The technician was thorough and fixed my AC right away. I’ve also used them for a hot water tank and sink plumbing. All of the work was done quickly and high quality. I highly recommend for professional, prompt and friendly service.

I had them come out to install a new faucet and they were timely, helpful, friendly, and reasonably priced! Their plumber Ryan is always professional and easy to work with.

New furnace & AC 7/2020. Tankless Hot water system 5/2021. Wouldn't have anyone else work on HVAC at my home.

Edited 7/26/19: I'm still very happy with Smylie's plumbing work (review below). However, in the last few months I've had a few different pieces of HVAC work to do and I am much, much less impressed with that department. I've had a tech argue with me about the maintenance work I wanted done (summer may not be when most people have their furnaces serviced but I still needed it done at that property!), work has been done and I've been charged without my OK, they've charged incorrect cards for work throwing accounts into overdraft, I've spent my time having them out to quote for large pieces of work and never actually received the quote. This after giving Smylie One well over $10k of work last year. I know that I'll have at least one furnace replacement on my properties this year and will be having other companies give me competing quotes. Sigh.

I'm a landlord overseeing about 25 homes split between Bedford and the West side of Cleveland. I'm going to keep using Smylie for all my plumbing and HVAC on all my units and on my personal home. Their prices are fair, their availability is great, they're extremely helpful. They've worked with my home warranty company, which not all contractors want to do. They'll also be honest about whether something is a big or small repair, no trying to upsell you, and are open to coming back to take another look if you're not happy with the work. I'm really glad I've found such a dependable company.

I'd heard about Smylie from a friend. They are amazing at customer service which can be such a rarity these days. The technician, Mikhail, was thorough. The last company I'd used for years was in and out in 15 minutes. Now I know why. They did nothing. Turns out my humidifier wasn't even running. It was clogged. Mikhail cleaned it and fixed it. And my thermostat that the other company had put in 3 different times was not running the furnace to its correct capacity. The company calls if the tech is running late. Again, total customer service. With service like this both before, during and after the visit, I'll be using them again!

Bill did a great job replacing a motor on my furnace. He pointed out that a part was missing from a previous repair. He drove back to Bedford, picked up the part and finished the repair in an hour. He is very knowledgeable and professional.

I woke up in the morning with no heat. I live in Solon so I chose a service company close. The got to me within a few hours. The technician found my problem, which was the need for a new blower. He had me up and running quickly. My only problem is with the Company Policy. I ask the service tech if he would also clean my furnace since he was going to open it up anyhow. He told me that needed to be a separate service call. I figure I paid $927 for the blower replacement & a $90 service call so I wasn't asking for something for nothing. Well after he left I called the company and found out it would cost $119.95. I called another company I had dealer with in the past and their cost was $69.95. I booked an appointment with them. Again, the service was 5 star the company was 1 star so they got 3 stars.

Our furnace stopped working on Saturday night, the tech showed up quickly and was friendly and professional. He showed us why it wasn’t working and why it wasn’t safe to run. We were in touch with the company and, as promised, Monday morning we received a quote and because it was an emergency they were able to squeeze us in for a new furnace. The installers were friendly and professional and left the space clean! Recommend on every level.

They never disappoint

A leaky faucet in the bathroom tub. Completed in an efficient and timely fashion. I would recommend them to anyone with plumbing, HVAC problems. I have been using them for several years.

Carl & Anthony were gems from the getgo! Saved our littlest dog from darting out the door. Carl is extremely knowledgeable & helpful with helping me make decisions. I needed 2 new toilets, main water shut off, installation of new kitchen sink & utility tub. They worked seamlessly together. I will be calling again for other work.

We are in the process of buying a house. The Air conditioner was noted to be faulty on general inspection. There was rust over the furnace, concerning about an ongoing or past leakage. Also the AC was running intermittently. The recommendation was to consult a qualified contractor. We made a big mistake by hiring Smylie One to inspect the HVAC system. Their technician who inspected the house said the control board was faulty (cost to replace - $671). Also, he mentioned that the H/E collector box was cracked (cost to replace- $1228). Thus overall cost to correct these problems would be $1900.
Based on their evaluation, we asked seller to pay for repairs.
The seller had the HVAC inspected by his own contractor, who said both the control board and H/E collector box were fine and did not need to be replaced.
Meanwhile, the seller still offered us $2000 to use for repairs if any needed which we accepted and signed the contract.
The next day though, a supervisor from Smylie One went to inspect the HVAC again, and he completely disagreed with his own techinician's evaluation. He now said that the AC coil and the drain pan are rusted and actively leaking and he would recommend the AC to be replaced based on the age and condition of the AC.
Based on the initial evaluation from their technician, we decided to take the $2000 for AC repairs. If we had known about the condition of the AC which came out in the second report (which completely contradicted with their own technician's initial report), we would have asked the seller to replace the AC.
Instead, now we have a complete contract and I need to bear the expenses to replace the AC before I move into the house, just because of the incompetence of Smylie One's technicians.
Knowing my distress and dissatisfaction from their work, Steve Smylie, the owner of the company called me, tried to make it sound like it wasn't their mistake and he tried to make a deal with me by providing me, what he made it sound like, a very good deal. He would install a basic Bryant AC for $4000, which he said was $2000 below their usual price.
Meanwhile, I contacted another HVAC agency who quoted me a straight price of $4000 for a new more expensive American Standard AC (without any sort of special deals)
All in all, I am extremely dissatisfied with Smylie One's service. I think their technician was extremely incompetent and failed to detect and report a simple leak from the AC coils (Even me, not an HVAC expert, could see the rust outside the HVAC unit and suspected a leak, but was then misled by the findings of their technician Mikhail Aronov)
Secondly, they charge extravagant amounts for their services, evident by the fact that they would charge $2000 more than other contractors for installing an AC with lower retail price.

Mikhail did a great job with our A/C tuneup. He even offered to come back to clean the outside coil because the water was shut off but luckily I was able to get it turned on so he could clean it.

Needed repair of leaking and blocked shower heads and repair or replacement of a sticking toilet handle. Scheduling of appointment was quick and easy. Response was prompt. Service was pleasant, courteous, and efficient. Could not ask for better service. I have come to expect fabulous service and quality from Smylie over the years.

Steve, arrived early and replaced our air filter. He identified a capacitor that was below spec but still working OK. He wore shoe covers and took about 45 minutes to complete the preventative inspection. I would definitely like to have Steve return if there was ever a problem with the HVAC.

My heater when out overnight on a Saturday, woke up Sunday morning to a cold house. Called the 24 hour line and explained my issue, the answering service forward my message to the tech on call. With in an hour I received a call and Chris informed me he would be over soon. I would say an hour to an hour and half later he was at my home and advised me of the issue and had my heat working within a few mins of looking at the unit. Was very please with this work, very professional and for being a Sunday cheerful.

So,
I called Monday 9:00am to request a tech come to my house and install a New thermostat and do a pre-winter check up on my unit, I was told that someone would call be back ASAP, no one called, I called again aground 1:00PM and asked why nobody called me back, The lady said she was sorry and would reach out to the tech again to have them call me, nobody called back... I called again at 4:30 and said the same thing again! she said sorry again and said a tech would call me ASAP, no one called me :-(
on to the second day Tuesday, I called around 9:00am and said nobody called me the day before after 3 phone calls to them.. I was assured that someone would call me ASAP, I even Confirmed that they had all my right info, yet again no one called me back.. I called the office AGAIN around 2:00pm to say i was STILL waiting! still no one called me back....
Moving on to day 3!!! Wednesday! I called and said yet again!! its been 2 days and several phone calls to them and nobody is getting back to me to scheduled a time a tech can come out to my home, which is by the way only 10 mins from their shop in Bedford! But yet again!! nobody has called me back!!!
who knows maybe they do good work, maybe they don't..
that's IF you can actually get them to call you back to schedule a tech to actually come to your home.

Well about a month ago they came out to check some work that needed to be done mainly heating cooling and plumbing. They said they couldn't help me with plumbing ok cool. I had a guy (Ronnie) tell me he'll get me an estimate for a brand new hvac and furnace. Call back Thursday get their receptionist telling me Ronnie. Will call me back. It's Saturday and I've got no call back or an estimate. Don't waste your time I will take my business elsewhere. Should not take that long for an estimate much left no response. Terrible service

I will not use this business for plumbing. My estimate came to $995.00 Estimate elsewhere was 4 times less, not to mention that i was charged $90.00 for them just to come to my home.

Jim and Steve were the installers for our job. We had an existing furnace removed and an new furnace and AC installed. These guys did a fantastic job. They arrived in the agreed upon time window, spent time to plan the install with me, and got to it. This was a scheduled 2 day job. They had the entirety of the old system removed and all the components of the new system set the first day. The second day they tied it all together.

I was impressed with the attention to detail paid by both of them. They did a lot of little things most people wouldn't pay much attention to, but as someone with formal training in mechanical design, impressed me.

As they were literally walking out the door after finishing, they noticed a very small drip from a drain line. Most people would have just smeared some sealer on the outside of the line and been done with it. They guys got all their kit back out of their trucks and removed and replaced the affected section of line. Both guys had plans that afternoon that they were looking forward to, they easily could have said screw it and moved on. It was 1530 on a Friday.

Most importantly they were nice to my dog.

Lastly, the company offered 0% financing for 36 months that made this entire project even possible financially. Overall PRICE was inline with other quotes we had received. The VALUE was in the paragraphs above. The ability to spread that over 3 years was icing on the cake.

I called for a plumbing drain line backup. Linda was super friendly over the phone. Asked all the right questions. She said they could easily take care of our problem. We got a call confirming when the technician would be arriving at the house as well as a follow up email to let us know when the service would be started.

I had a very old furnace which they assured me was inefficient for our home. I felt great about replacing our furnace with them for what I was told was an extremely efficient version. They seemed so up front and honest about everything and replaced it a year ago. Since then, it stopped working on a very cold day this winter and we had to have it reinstalled by a guy who admitted the first people that installed it did it wrong! And here I am, yet again another day, and the furnace isn't working. Our original, supposedly inefficient 1960s furnace made our house much warmer than this hack job they put in :( I cannot recommend this company unfortunately.

We just bought a new house and knew the AC just wasn't working right. We had a few companies come out and give us quotes, most of them showed up hours late, took one look at the AC unit and said Meh, its probably too small. I would go this size or even this size. We have been working with Steve Smylie and Smylie One since buying a 1927 house 25 years ago. They installed two AC systems in a house with a steam boiler and no ducts which are able to maintain temperatures of 71-72 degrees even when the outdoor temperatures are in the mid 90s. 19 years later they proactively upgraded the AC systems to improve efficiency. They have replaced our steam boiler and have performed routine maintenance and repair.Their technicians are knowledgeable and always communicate what they are proposing to do and why. They show up on time for appointments, and call anytime they are running late.

Was recommended to Smylie from a partnering contractor who was helping me fix some water damage to my house due to a weather related incident. Initially Smylie was great, but gave an initial quote of far, far less than competing companies' quotes. Due to this I chose Smylie. They showed up for the work and reported no way they could do the job as quoted it was a bigger job than they initially understood and would re-quote. This was annoying at the time but I agreed as I had already told the other vendors I hadn't chosen them. The final quote by Smylie was roughly equivalent to the other competitors. Therefore I think they used a bait and switch strategy to secure business and make it hard for me to return to other vendors as I turned down their quotes.

That said, I was happy to move forward but was very clear with Smylie that this was an insurance claim and I needed a little time to sort through getting my adjuster to cut a check based on new quote and then have checks endorsed by all responsible parties. Smylie put a quote deadline of two weeks on the quote but the sales person seemed willing to work with my timeline. I kept in touch as my payment options progressed but it was a little lengthy, 7 weeks I believe. I checked in twice during this time with the sales person to let them know I was still interested but waiting on insurance resolution. Each check-in he responded it was okay. Finally I got my check and called and emailed back the sales person, Paul, only to be ghosted. No return email, no return call in a week of attempts to contact. I called the main office and got someone else on the line who said he could help. He opened up my file, claimed to be reading a lot of notes about my job, then said he couldn't book a date at this time and would call back to let me know when he could. It has now been another week.

My negative review is for two reasons. The first bait and switch technique was slimy. But to use such a technique and not be honest about the timing they would accept left me with no vendor to complete the work. If they had just been honest that they didn't want the job due to the length it took for me to secure insurance payment I could have been exploring other vendors while I worked through insurance. Instead I wasted 9 weeks now thinking Smylie would do this job and their unprofessional handling of communications with me once they decided not to do the job, especially from Paul the sales guy, is embarrassing. Smylie may do excellent work as other reviews suggest, but I wouldn't know because I haven't been able to even get them to be honest about scheduling. Will not recommend them to anyone with anything other than the most straight forward job.

We have an annual furnace check up with Smylie One. The serviceman was on time, knowledgeable and very pleasant. We have been their customers for many years and would not hire anyone else for our heating and air conditioning service.

Chris has come out many times. Chris is always on time and nice to talk to. It is great he comes out and makes sure we are set for winter and summer every year. He knows all the equipment and does a great job every time. This time he was training a new person which is great. Thank you for keeping us comfortable all year round.

No actual work was performed due to the nature of the issue. Let me state the issue, my kitchen sink drain make a dripping sound. Maybe replacing the drain pipe might have fixed the issue but it was not offers as a solution. The offer was to add some insulation or something around the pipe as it might just be hitting the wood when it expands.

The young service man said he never heard that type of sound before. The service call cost $99.00 dollars. That cost was not establish on the call to request someone to come out for the free estimate. I also did not find that on the website as well. Maybe I should have asked upfront.

The service man did take a personal call (5 minutes or so) and talk about upcoming plans with whoever he was speaking with.

He also asked me if there were any other issues I might be experiencing. He really didn't just want to invoice me $99.00 and not do any work.

I asked him about the drain in the bathroom and he said I should run water every other day. This will keep the drain from drying and prevent sewer gas from coming into the house, or more so the smell.

He also mention the Plumbing Partnership Plan and stated it offered benefits.

Our AC wasn’t blowing cold air and I also smelled Freon coming from the vents so I submitted my concern on Smylie Ones website. Linda then spoke to me and sent the technician Andres over to diagnose our ac unit. The first thing Andres did before entering our home was that he put on shoe covers which was very important for us! Andres explained that our ac unit outside was low on Freon but could also be leaking somewhere in the lines. He then pointed us in the right direction to speak with consultants about replacing our ac unit . Andres and Linda were very professional and helpful. My heat wouldn't shut off automatically, so I called Smylie One(who I have a service agreement with), and one of their service guys was at my place in 75 minutes and took care of the issue in 10 minutes. I've used these guys for years and I recommend purchasing a service agreement, which is only about $35, which puts you at the top of the list if you have an issue.
