Providence Electric

I had a concerning burning smell. Called multiple electrician companies. After getting through all the automation to get to an actual live person I was given astronomical prices to come out for an emergency call. Found Tom, he actually answered the phone live and he was at my house within 2 hours at an unbeatable price and was able to find and correct the issue all within an hour. His service was so great I had him come back to install an additional outlet in my garage a few days later. Tom is very knowledgeable, personable and you can tell he enjoys his job. Tom will be the only electrician to service any (hopefully no time soon) electrical problems I may have in the future.

Excellent experience with Tom Harp and Providence Electric! I needed an outlet installed in my attic, and started doing the google search. His reviews seemed good so I gave him a ring. Within 30 minutes of calling him he was on his way, the work he did was top quality, and he was a really cool guy all around! Such a breeze working with Tom, I'll be using Providence Electric for all my electric needs in the future!

Tom is now my wife and I’s new go to electrician! After 3 days of no heat and waiting for our home warranty company to locate a contractor to fix the issue, we were facing another 4 days with no heat. After going back and forth with our home warranty company they approved for us to use an outside contractor of our choice. Being our first time dealing with an issue like this we luckily found Tom online and I can’t tell you how very delighted we are that we did! After explaining what was going on and how we were facing 4 more days without heat, he wasted no time to come out late into the evening after his work day was done just fix the issue! He was extremely knowledgeable, very polite, and got the job done in no time. His prices, even on short notice, were very reasonable for what the job was. We will be contracting Tom again soon for some projects we have planned for the future. Highly recommended.

Tom came by and repaired our meter the. Same day we called! I called several companies and got voicemail or no answer at all. Tom answered the phone gave me a good idea of what it might cost. He came out at 3pm as scheduled and by 5 pm we had power. He fit us in the same day and the cost was very reasonable. I highly reccomend Tom and Providence Electric. They are definitely my electricians for all future work I might need. Top notch!

We had a short in our outlets and lights on Easter Sunday, and thought for sure we would have to wait until at least Monday to get someone out. I left a message, and Tom got back within minutes. Within a half hour he was at my house, and fixed the problem within a half hour or so of arriving. Super nice, charged me exactly what he quoted on the phone (very reasonable), and understood the problem and solution quickly. Would absolutely recommend. Great experience.

Edit: Nice enough guy, but really hard to get him to follow up on his work. Several of my calls/texts to him went unanswered/unreturned. The problem returned almost immediately, and I couldn't get him to come back out to check it out. Ultimately I tracked the problem down myself to a light switch that had gone bad, and replaced it. Since then I have switched to Michael & Son.

Tom was great. I called 3 other electricians before I called Providence Electric. No one could get to my house until next week. I explained my problem over the phone to all 3. Tom was the only that said he was pretty sure it was a simple fix but wouldn't know for certain until he arrived. Tom arrived 2 hours after talking on the phone and was finished with the repair in 30 minutes. I will definitely recommend their services.

Tom at Providence Electric was a God Send today. He was quick, efficient and affordable. Not to mention that his work was done with complete confidence and expertise. I recommend Tom and Providence Electric for your electrical needs. He was also very pleasant, respectful and courteous and that is what made me calm during this crazy storm of ours. Tom did a great job on fixing my amateur wiring job that someone else did a terrible job, he came in an found the issue and fixed it and even ran the correct wiring to my microwave and even installed some dimmer switches that made a difference to my lighting. He even walked me through proper ways to wire switches and outlets, he came out the same day I called and was reasonably priced.

Tom went above and beyond what was expected when we had a residential wiring problem with our HVAC. He was very knowledgeable, and honest. He stands by his work and when we thought something was wrong he came back later in the evening on his own time to make sure that the work he did was correct, which it was.

I will use his service again and recommend him to my friends for sure.

I would definitely call Providence Electric again for any of my electrical needs. After a power outage caused some damage to a few breakers, Tom provided same day service, on a SATURDAY, for a completely reasonable price. Then, when I decided on the spot that I wanted some extra work done (fully expecting to make a future appointment), he stayed late, completed the work that night, and really went out of his way do a great job.

We used Tom and Matthew to get some small projects at our home squared away. I call Providence Electric after visiting their site and reading some of the articles. I was impressed at the way the site was obviously created by a real electrician. I work in the web development field and graphic design. I found several articles that talked about the exact type of work I wanted done. IE moving a ceiling fan from one room to another, adding recessed lights to our kitchen and fixing some switches that seemed to go nowhere. I called and Tom answered the phone . This was refreshing after getting three machines in a row from other electricians. Tom was friendly and went right into asking me about my needs and I was happy to be talking to an actual electrician that was educated articulate and just like the site said , available ! He gave me an estimate and a date. The day of the call he was running late but called to let me know. He came in with a helper Matthew. They did the work and explained many aspects of my home that I was unaware of. Tom said he had actually built a few homes and I picked his brain about more than electrical. We have not been here very long and many things about this old house were a mystery. In short Tom was very knowledgeable and friendly. I got what I asked for and felt the price was fair. Tom asked me to post a review if I was satisfied. I have had enough bad experiences to know a good company when I see it. I told him I would and I am working on my personal integrity. Best electrician that I have used so far!!!!! Tom is reliable and a man of his word.We had a power outage in our home and Tom took the time to explain every detail of the issue and how to prevent it from happening again. He went out of his way to fix the problem and made sure he did the job right!I will definitely use his service again.

We had a storm rip our power line in our backyard down . Tom and his crew at Providence Electric came out the same day and replaced our main power box and restored our electricity to our home . They worked directly with the insurance adjuster and restored the power within 4 hours of calling them . This by far met and exceeded our expectations . I highly recommend Tom and his company to all my friends .

Phenomenal experience! I ran into an electric issue during my kitchen remodel on a Friday night and was too afraid to proceed on my own. I stumbled on Tom's number after a Google search and here's why I would highly recommend him.

1. He answered the phone
2. He listened and asked questions to better understand the question on the phone.
3. He showed up on a Friday night within an hour of my call.
4. He fixed my problem and took a look at the additional electric work I performed to make sure it was safe and in good order.

Tom did a great job discovering what our problem was. Our garage didn't work ONLY when it rained which was really odd. He came out on the SAME day and helped to fix the problem. It is still raining and our garage is now working. It was also really affordable. Tom was easy to get along with and made the experience a pleasant one. We would use him again in the future!

I've relied on Providence Electric for over a decade. They're responsive, reliable, and trustworthy. I had other repair folks tell me I'd have to cut a gaping hole in my ceiling to replace bathroom exhaust fans. Tom & Brandon did the job without any ceiling damage in short time. It's great for homeowners to have such a dependable and professional electrical service business in town.

I highly recommend Tom as an electrician. He was very helpful in fixing the electrical issues at my house and also helped with another issue I had asked during the time of visit. His prices are very affordable. I think the biggest benefit with Tom is that he explains the cause of the issue and how to prevent it. In my particular case, he was able to explain how my house was wired.

We were looking for someone to install some ceiling lights, but also were looking to upgrade our circuit breaker box as well
We went with the CB box first. This guy pulled out every single circuit breaker in the box and replaced them. He also replaced some of the internal power cables. Won't use him again for other transgressions, but doubly won't use him for what I just found out. Got another electrician in to do some work along with CB box. He just told me that the circuit breakers that were replaced about 4 months ago, are outdated, no longer used or manufactured circuit breakers, that shouldn't have been used. Paid thus shill good money and he pulls a fraudulent job like this. Luckily we were looking into replacing this panel, seems we now have to replace it. This fraud took over $1,000 for this, and he too all our older, probably better, circuit breakers with him. God knows where he got the ones he installed here. This borders on the criminal and wilfully negligent, to put someone's house at risk in this way. There are so many reasons not to use this Tom, fake electrician, but this alone should be enough to avoid this guy like the plague. Shady doesn't even begin to describe this guy.

Tom did an outstanding job for us. We called him to replace our broken air conditioning breaker, but while he was here, I told him about some other electrical issues we had had for years. By the time he left, he had fixed the AC breaker, the oven breaker, the GFI curcuit and replaced a dimmer switch which had been shorting out occasionally. I appreciate his willingness to answer all my questions, and explain everything he did. All for a great price.

Providence Electric proved to be my angel. Tom showed up and saved the day. He was professional, friendly, got the job done and made me appreciate all that he did. He also may have saved my life by fixing the problem. He also educated me as to could have happened. I recommend him to anyone who is interested in an honest, hard working, knowledgeable and fair professional.

Tree fell on my house and pulled the pole and line from my house. Tom was able to come out day off and assess the damage. He noticed recalled equipment and exposed electrical box open to rain water on my house that posed a safety risk.

He worked with my insurance the day off to get full documentation of what was necessary to repair so that my insurance had all necessary documentation to cover the repairs. He pull city permits and got started that same night to fix all the problems.

Promptly after the work was completed he had the city inspector come out to approve the work so I was able to have duke energy restore power. Very easy to work with and the work was top quality to ensure no safety risk exist anymore.

I highly recommend.

Tom saved me when my JCPenney installers couldn't remove the oven hood that was wired into the wall so I needed someone to come uninstall the hood and install my microwave that day (I had come from out of town!). He came by within two hours of my call and did both. So reliable and knowledgeable, and the friendliest person ever. Wonderful!!!

I had an electrical emergency involving a broken meter box which resulted in Duke Energy turning off the power to my house. After calling several electricians in the Charlotte area and being told they were booked solid and couldn't make it to my house that same day, I got in contact with Tom from Providence Electric. He not only showed up within a couple hours of me calling, he also pulled the permit with the county and was finished with the job the very same day. I'll definitely be calling Providence Electric for future electrical needs.

As well I the owner of the company work in the field and dictate my own hours . So if you call with a request and need a repair the same day or the next day, no problem .As an added bonus, nine times out of 10 we answer your call. Give us a try . We will work extremely hard not to disappoint you.

My husband scheduled a quote last week, to which they could not fit us in until 10 am the following Wednesday. 10 am came and went, after taking time off work a call was placed to Providence Electric at 11am and was told the person who was coming to our home was now responding to an emergency and tried to schedule us for another week out. Completely unprofessional to not even value a potential client's time off work with not so much of a phone call and a lack of caring that we would then wait another week for a mere quote. Not recommended.

We had an electrical issue pop up Saturday morning and Tom was at our house within the hour. He fixed our problem quickly and was very friendly. We will DEFINITELY call Tom again with any future problems.

Tom was Johnny-on-the-Spot today. He was able to save me over $2500 in un-neccessary repairs quoted from other Electricians. Tom was honest, fair and professional. His knowledge and service is a true mark of his passion and the type of company that sets the standard. I will use Providence Electric for all my electric needs.

As someone who just had the owner, Tom, storm out of her house, I would not recommend using Providence Electric. After 3 rescheduled appointments, he arrived an hour late (first appointment of the day), decided the job was harder than anticipated and said it was not worth it to keep working when he had more profitable jobs to get to (we had an hour consultation prior to this so he knew what work was involved when he provided a quote). When I got visibly frustrated about the hole he was leaving, he then lost his temper and went off on me about how frustrating it was that he wasn't making any money after an hour's work, slamming the door on his way out. He attacked a reviewer on Google reviews for calling him unprofessional, so I will not say that, but this is not a company you should allow in your home.

I don't know where to start with Tom. He didn't show me the respect that I deserved when he cussed at me and spewed a, you and your wife are the kind of people... attack on our character. Judging by some of these other negative reviews and some of his justifications in his responses it's not the first time he has gotten belligerant. Luckily my wife had left the house with our kids prior to him blasting me. He also never gave me the inspection that I paid 175.00 dollars for and I cannot count the number of times that he blew us off and had to reschedule appointments. I accepted the apology that he gave after the incident, but to be honest I just wanted him gone from the premises. In the end he checked on our job to see when he could get back in to finish and I just made up an excuse about my hardwood floor refinisher needing everybody out of the house. I would rather double pay and lose money than have to deal with Tom.

I had a great experience with Tom. He was very prompt and we had large fixtures for him to hang. He did his work carefully and efficiently and I would strongly recommend him for residential electrical work.

While on a trip to Florida, my Charlotte rental lost power through a few circuit breakers. I had to leave a few voice messages at other electrical shops, unsure if I would ever receive a call back, I called a few more, Tom answered the phone on the first call. He understood the tenant had no heat and able to juggle his work force and resolve my issue late that night. He will now be my primary electrician for all of my rentals.

They did not keep appointment with me. I called to find out if they were coming. Tom was unsure if he was suppose to be at my house. He needed to look at his schedule. He indicated he would call me back in 10 minutes. 15 minutes later He sends text stating he could make it later in the day at 2:30. I called him to discuss. He declined my call and put time into his voice message. I text him We don't appreciate you not keeping your appointment with us. We no longer need your service. We don't trust you to show up. Thank you. They replied by text The text message app misheard me and wrote 2:30 when I said 10:30. I reply You can come at 10:30 but you are to bring the fixtures for garage. Are you coming? They reply by text Wow you are to bring. You seem angry. Miscommunications happen. I am afraid that given the anger and lack of basic respect shown for another person. I do not want to subject myself to further abuse. There's never a reason to be so abuse of a disrespectful of a person over a scheduling error . I type this just like it was sent to me. Bottom line ... poor communication, didn't take responsibility, no understanding of his no show and the cost and inconvenience to us because he was irresponsible and didn't show up and his blaming tactic. I would be careful with this guy .... this is red flag to me something ain't right. All is good if it goes well but the least little push and this guy starts judgement and falsely accusing. I am keeping my text as proof of this dialog. Thank you and good luck!!

I was having painting done and wanted my ceiling fan replaced. I contacted Tom and he was made time to come out that day to install the special switch that the painter just could not do - fabulous and courteous.

Did a couple of jobs at my previous home, sold the house and had the inspection done to find a myriad or issues with the electrical work performed by Tom and his colleague. Including, issues with the breaker box, no labeled correctly, popping out blank covers in the box, leaving a hole in the side of my house. They also installed recessed lighting in the kitchen, upon inspection it was discovered that duct work was damaged do to careless or aggressive install tactics Overall a shoddy job was done and I had to pay someone to come out a repair the work they did.

Providence Electric (Tom & Brandon) helped me resolve some electrical issues with my old residence in Cotswold. They were prompt, effective, easy to work with, and reasonably priced. If i need some residential electrical work in the future, I'll call them.
