American Leak Detection of Charlotte

I had a leak in the wall that I believed was caused by a Mater Bath remodel. I contacted a plumber, and he suggested I contact American Leak Detection to do an evaluation first. ALD responded within 24 hours and I set up an appointment. Andrew arrived on time and was very professional and efficient. He explained everything he was doing and the results of his evaluation. It was a very positive experience!

I contacted American Leak Detection online and requested service because of a frozen pipe in my front yard. The women who called me was fantastic. Very friendly and professional. A team of 2 people came out to locate my leak. They charged $700 up front in order to locate it. They marked the spot approx. 3'x3' I spent the next couple days digging, and went down over 3 feet. No leak, not even a pipe. I called the company back on a Saturday, and there was no answer. This is understandable as they were closed. I was unable to leave a message because the mailbox was full. I ended up digging from my water meter and found the water line wasn't even close to the spot they marked. I called back during business hours and spoke to the same women. She requested I email photos showing where the leak ended up being located. I sent these photos in via email. I requested a partial refund (not 100% as they did have time and labor here) I received a call back 6 days later from the owner Dennis Fair. I believe this guy is the owner of the franchise in this area. He was very rude and honestly just a complete D-bag. He asked why I didn't call back, and when I explained I did, and the voicemail was full so I couldn't leave a message he said that wasn't true

Dave and Jon were fantastic and punctual. They were very through in explaining the leak and even showed us where the leak was coming from. They were friendly with our dogs and they liked them too. The money we spent with American Leak Detection was well worth it!

I will definitely use this company from here on out. They were careful when they opened our ceiling, and cleaned up the mess. They wore their masks without us evening asking them.

Unfortunately I did not have a great experience with American Leak Detection of Charlotte. We had a leak of unknown source and my plumber recommended them. Their regular guy was out sick so they sent 2 guys out who must not have been competent. I watched them closely because I was paying $700 up front and wanted to know how this works. They took a long time and finally decided on a spot and marked it and then left behind a part of their machine. We called the plumber to dig. He dug 4 feet and no sign of water. I called ALD and they insisted that they dig to 6 feet. This required a big machine and at 7 feet still no leak was found. I called ALD again & they acted like I was not telling them the truth. Finally they agreed to try again and sent out their regular guy who quickly found it in a VERY DIFFERENT location where the 2 original guys had not checked. This mistake cost us an extra $1000 dollars & created a HUGE hole in our front yard.
The address on their website is not real, I went there to return the machine part and discuss this situation and no one at the address had heard of them. This does not sound like a legitimate business to me. I have not received an apology nor any offer of compensation. It seems crazy that they can make a huge mistake that costs ME 1K and there isn't any way to hold THEM accountable. So this review will have to do and hopefully someone else will be able to find a company offering better terms.

Young man was a pro and found a very difficult pinhole leak behind a wall that I never thought would have had water lines inside it.

Josh and Chris were polite and ready to work. Josh had lots of knowledge and explained things where they could be understood. Definitely happy with the overall service including the initial conversation over the phone with Autumn.

Employees are very interested in helping you find the problem and they are so knowledgeable about fixing the issue....I recommend them highly!!!!

I was very impressed with American Lead Detection. I went to their website and entered the requested information and had a call first thing the next morning. David and Jon assessed the situation, found the leak, quickly repaired it, checked to ensure there were no other leaks, and filled the hole quickly and completely. I was talking with Jon while he did the repair and saw how they fixed it - used brass couplings to put the pipes together with proper clamps to ensure they will not move as the ground settles over time. I would highly recommend American Leak Detection of Charlotte.

Had a leak in the hot water supply line beneath the slab floor in our town home. American Leak responded the same day we called and was able to locate the leak and suggest a repair that did not involve tearing up our wood floors and concrete...will save us a considerable repair bill. Dave and Jon from American Leak Detection just finished working with us on locating a leak that was under the foundation in our basement. They were professional and extremely helpful. They also went above and beyond hooking up a temporary water supply while we wait for our plumber to get back into town.

I received a response very quickly from a American Leak Detection. He took time to ask questions and truly understand my issue. It turned out that my particular issue did not require his services - he gave me a few tips and instructions and they were most appreciated. Honesty and being upfront are great qualities of a business.

I had 2 different large plumbing companies tell me that I had a clog underneath the floor of my house that would need to be jackhammered; the cost was going to be $7-$10K and my family and I would need to live in a hotel for 10 days. My insurance company suggested I speak to American Leak Protection to see if this was actually true. The day I called them they came to the house, found the real area of the clog (outside the house), and repaired it in less than 5 hours at a fraction of the cost (WOW!). What a relief! They are honest & nice guys who my kids fell in love with. I highly recommend them- they saved me a lot of time & money!

I had a main water line to break at my rental property. I contacted American Leak Detection and they responded quickly to this matter. They found the exact location of the leak and explained everything to me in detail that would need to be done. Dave and Jon did an amazing job and provided excellent service.

This company is well-managed and have an immediate response when you call. I looked online to find someone and I thought I had scheduled the appointment with American Leak Detection. But when no one showed and I called he said, no I wasn't on his schedule and he's the one that makes the appointments. My appointment was done by a lady at the other leak detection company & they never came for that appointment.

I would highly recommend American Leak Detection if you need someone to give you immediate response. He was so nice to me even though I called complaining.

We had a leak that no one could find. Two plumbers came and went, scratching their heads. These folks came, found the leak and were able to fix it. They were pleasant to deal with and I'm sure they saved me more than the water bill I would have gotten without them. Great people and great work.

Friendly and prompt same day service. Expensive for the work performed . Leak in my first floor ceiling . They went into the attic and found the leak was from around a vent pipe in the roof. They told me to contact a roofer for repair and charged me $625 for the hour to identify the leak.

Had a leak in my yard... somewhere. These guys found it in no time, fixed it right up, showed me where it was, helped me determine what may have caused it, and have me advice on how to prevent future leaks.

They took me out to the water meter and showed me that there was no movement, proving that the leak was indeed repaired.

Had a leak in our crawlspace that was coming from inside the walls of our house. Dave and Jon are the experts with the right equipment. By using infrared technology they found the source of the leak, then made a small hole in the ceiling right where the leak was, and fixed it. DO NOT bother with a plumber if you have a mystery leak, these are the right guys to call.

Called this folks for 2 weeks and left several messages, I decided to send them an email thru their webpage. As of today no one has called back. Very unprofessional.
