Yesterday, Mr. Roman Chodaba turned what had been a frustrating morning into a most pleasant afternoon. The delivery/installation employees who delivered a new electric range were unable to install the appliance, stating an electric outlet was required. Their statement was misleading because I later learned from Mr. Roman that the range could be installed using the existing conduit. An employee of the building had suggested I call Mr. Roman and provided me with his phone number. I was only in town for the day. I first spoke with him at 10:49 AM and sent photos via text message. Mr. Roman arrived at 12:39 PM. Now that is prompt service!

Mr. Roman had a most pleasant personality and energy. It was a pleasure speaking with him and doing business with him. I would definitely use his business in the future.

I first contacted Roman after reading these google reviews and was not disappointed. Not only was his estimate the best out of the other companies in downtown jersey city area, but it ended up being cheaper than we originally quoted for. I needed 4 light fixtures installed and two ceiling fans removed. Roman handled the job without a problem, taking him just under two hours. He was clean, professional and has a wealth of experience in electrical work. He came in with an extremely positive attitude and overall a great guy to have a conversation with.

This was the third time Roman has helped me out and I’ve had a fantastic experience every time. I am a new home owner and have had breaker issues, heating issues (digital thermostat) and most recently, needed to install a new light fixture.

I don't typically write reviews, but for this service I definitely needed to. Roman was absolutely wonderful, friendly, responsive, and FAST! He was able to diagnose the issue in under 10 minutes which included checking the circuit breakers, electrical outlet testing, and identified the issue we were experiencing for repair. Roman was excellent. He responded quickly to the apartment and assessed the panel and stove outlet. He explained the breaker and outlet were in good working order and didn’t need to be replaced. Rather, the cord connecting the stove to the outlet needed to be connected properly. All fixed and ready to cook with the hour.

I had a short circuit in one of my kitchen sockets that blew out power to the fridge for 4 days while I was on a biz trip. Needless to say it was incredibly stressful to come home to a disaster. Not great at scheduling and seems to need me to keep his calendar? He's asked me to text him right before the appointment which is really weird to be honest and has caused him to miss the appointment twice now. Communication is less than ideal.

When our electricity went out during a heatwave and we were worried about a potential short circuit fire, I made so many calls to so many people who didn’t take our emergency seriously — but then we called Chodaba Electric and he arrived in record time about thirty minutes later. We were so appreciative of his kindness, especially since it was his day off. He has decades of experience under his belt and when we got to talking he showed us the huge electric panels (excuse my probably incorrect terminology) that he used to work on for large trains, so the breaker in my apartment was easy peasy competitively. The problem turned out to be faulty wiring, and even when working with a building thats very old and has criminally bad wiring, he did what seemed like magic and got everything up and running again. It’s been a really bad day, but genuinely, he took what could have been an awful situation and made it better in a snap. He’s swift, knowledgeable, kind, and I would highly recommend them.

Called him earlier today. He told me he wasn’t available until the evening time. He showed up as promised to diagnose my HVAC fan coil issue. He told me the service call was $150 cash and anything after was additional. My fan coil unit is 20+/- years old. He noticed that my control board was corrosive but still working. He found a tripped fuse and replaced it. Total bill was $200. I told him I will certainly use him again.

Roman's an awesome guy. I recently moved into an apartment nearby, and the management company had neglected to inform me that there were electrical issues in the apartment. The kitchen was the only room that had grounded outlets (the rest had 3 prong outlets, but we're not grounded), and the ENTIRE apartment was on a single 20A breaker.

I work from home, as well as running a small development server from my home, so I draw a bit more power then most, so this was an issue.

I messaged Roman Chodaba and asked him how much a consultation was. He responded and told me an estimate was free, and was here the next day. I explained that I wanted to try to move at least 1 room to a separate circuit, and he proposed a solution to that.

I asked about the grounding issues, he said that he couldn't get any tools out on a free consultation, as tools out meant it was now a diagnostic. I showed him the photos of ungrounded outlets, and he agreed that it's likely a poorly terminated ground.

I sent his estimate to my management company, and begrudgingly they resolved some of the grounding and added the circuit he suggested.

I wish they had offered to pay him to resolve this, but I understand that the management company has their own electrician they want to work with. So the least I can do is say thanks as I don't think the work would have gotten done if he didn't show up.

Needed help with my vanity mirror, I glued my knob back on and the glue jammed it up so I needed to replace the dimmer switch. I bought the right dimmer but the wire configurations were confusing for me as someone who doesn’t have an electrician background and the light would turn on but wouldn’t dim. I called at few people before I met Roman and he was the most reasonably priced and the one that was most flexible with schedule. I've used him twice now for changing switches as well as circuit breakers and I'd say he knows his stuff and does a great job.

Partial of my house power went out which included my Air conditioner (on hot day)and I was baffled why some areas had power and other areas didn't, Happened around 430pm, so I called several electrician who just went into telling me charges and that after hours were more money for house visit and hours thereafter........ charges were high so I kept calling other electrician, when I called Chodaba Electric, the gentleman on phone didn't go into money, he asked a few questions about my electrical dilemma and after a few questions he had determined that his services wouldn't be required as he explained, turns out on rare occasions a term , one of the Phase must of went out and that the problem is on the outside of house and this repair has to done my power services provider, so after speaking Chodada I called PSE&G who was aware and is working on restoring full power....hopefully soon.
