Love these guys! They initially revamped my HVAC in 2018, and convinced me to get the mini splits which have both heat and A/C and are much cheaper than central air. Fast forward to 2021 when I woke up with no heat and hot water. They were responsive, came by 8:30 am, and fixed it by 9:30. I had forgotten to get it serviced, and the pressure went out. Because I had the mini splits, I also had some heat. They are always very nice and timely!

Big Blue Plumbing & Heating have been my go-to HVAC and Plumbing company since January 2010 (yes, I searched my old emails to check)! For 12 years they have fixed every issue with my apartment I rent out in Somerville and my home in Concord, as well as regular seasonal maintenance of my HVAC systems for both locations. Literally every visit (easily 30+ at this point), anyone they send is friendly, professional, super knowledgeable, does the work with excellence, makes full faith effort to keep costs as low as possible, and leaves the space neat and clean. Their interactions on the phone and over email are just a friendly, prompt, and focused on providing true value. Even when I moved out of Somerville to Concord, I still hire Big Blue for everything because every local company I've called is never as honest or timely (out here everyone wants to replace instead of repair or steer you to the most expensive solution to your problem). Any time I need something HVAC related, I know I can call or email and get honest, real world advice for the best solution for my family...to the point that they've even talked me out of doing more expensive projects I planned on doing into alternate solutions that I didn't even know were possible that worked just as well, if not better, for far less money! Seriously, these guys are a dying breed of truly honest tradespeople focused on doing right by the people they take care of, not just the bottom line...treasure them for just how special they are. I seriously cannot recommend this company enough!!!

I found this company online because we needed a plumber in a hurry. It was a stroke of luck finding them. Everyone in the company was professional, patient, pleasant, hard-working, and considerate. From the owner (Kevin), the office staff (Keri), and the guys who got things done for the work and inspection (Josh, Antonio, Randy). I can't say enough about the quality of the work and the people at Big Blue.

Had a water heater fail, previous company went out of business, but the heater was still under warranty. Complicated situation.
Big Blue had a super fast response, and the best price by a mile. Friendly, considerate workers. Will definitely consider them again in the future!

I've used Big Blue several times over the past 11 years and always had a fantastic experience. They are professional, responsive and pleasant. Kevin, Carrie and every technician I have met have all gone above and beyond to make sure the problem was solved as quickly as possible. There was even a time I called them for a service they didn't provide, but they very graciously gave me names of companies who could help me. This week I was once again impressed by them when I realized my AC wasn't working and emailed them overnight Monday. By Tuesday morning I had an appointment scheduled and Wednesday by 2pm my AC was fixed. As much as you don't want to have to call someone for repairs, it's good to know that you're in good hands with Big Blue.

I've had them out twice already, for different issues with our new (to us) home. The office actually answers the phone and they have a lot of availabilities to schedule work. They send a different plumber depending on who is available. So far both the people were on time (early end of the window), very professional and happy to explain everything they were doing even without me asking questions. I will continue to use them for all my plumbing/heating needs!

I would be cautious with this company. I had someone scheduled to come out to my house for a disconnect/reconnect of a gas dryer. After initially quoting me $225 for what was a 15 minute process to install a gas valve and disconnect the gas they called me back saying it was actually $325 for the two appointments and that it would be $850+ to reconnect and clean the dryer duct. I would ask for your quote in writing beforehand and shop around the area for a more consistent plan.

Communication was terrible. tl;dr work was great, LOVED the workman. Office staff is either incompetent or shady. Maybe 1 or 2 of these issues I detail below is my mistake but taken altogether it seems like they are either disorganized or misleading.

- They quoted me $675 for a garbage disposal installation then changed that to $695 when I scheduled.
- They told me they needed pics of my sink with dimensions to determine if disposal would fit. Had to email and send pics twice to get a response despite calling.
- Was then told, someone would come out to measure to make sure it would fit. Made appointment for this measurement.
- Was then told appointment was to install. They wouldn't measure anything without charging me $250 for a separate visit.
- Was first told to have electrician to come out and check wiring. Was told upon subsequent call to have installed and call electrician later (could have cost me $1500 for remodel had it not luckily been previously wired).
- Technician installed and did not leave any note of model # but gave me registration form that lists 6 possible models. Cannot see model # on unit.
- Emailed office TWICE to ask for model unit so I can register the product. No response to either email.

The technician who replaced my disposal was a sweetheart and the woman in the office very helpful. I asked for information about installing a new water heater and will definitely use them when I'm ready to do that. Thanks to their helpful info I understand how it works and will be able to budget for the job.

I tend not to leave reviews, but I'm going out of my way to do so because I'm so happy with Big Blue. So far, we've worked with them to install a faucet and to maintain our tankless water heater and HVAC system. Everyone we've interacted with - Tenzin, Adin, Keri, Donna, and Kevin - has been a pleasure to work with. The team communicates well, they're patient, friendly and organized, and they do high quality work, on time and for a reasonable price. They'll answer all your questions, and they're even sensitive to small things like taking their shoes off before coming inside. It's been very hard to find a company like Big Blue and we feel more confident as homeowners now that we have. We recommend them to our friends and we're excited to work with them again soon.

My partner and I called Big Blue on the coldest day of the year because our Rinnai system wasn’t heating our cast iron radiators. A dozen companies we called beforehand were unavailable or didn’t service our type of system, and wished us luck. Josh from Big Blue returned our voicemail within a couple of hours and proceeded to save the day. While we live outside of Big Blue’s service area, Josh generously spent a half hour on the phone with my partner and me to troubleshoot the issue. He was educational, patient, and thorough in his explanations, despite being swamped with dozens of other emergency calls. We ended the phone call with a functioning system. We’re so grateful for Josh’s expertise and generosity!

I have worked with Big Blue a few times and have been happy each time. My most recently time was an emergency weekend situation. Adin was the on-call weekend technician. He was so great to work with. He was very communicative about his arrival time and continued to update me as he got closer. He was so helpful, explaining what should be fixed today and what could be fixed on a day that would be a regular day rate (as opposed to the emergency weekend rate). He fixed the problem very quickly and thoroughly. Thanks Adin!

Big Blue has consistently provided excellent service. They replaced my antique plumbing in my basement 18 months ago, and more recently replaced my boiler and water tank. It's an old house, and Kevin was able to alert me to the scope of the surprises that I could expect. He provided a detailed quote outlining options based on what we might encounter in a timely manner. There were still a few curve balls on the job – I didn't have the chimney inspected in advance like they recommended – but they handled them efficiently and went the extra mile to make it as smooth as possible for me. They even coordinated relining the chimney with no extra hassle. The onsite crew was respectful and did a great job of keeping me in the loop. At all times I felt like I had the information I needed to decide on options that felt like the right mix of quality and price.

We were being “taken for a ride” by another plumbing outfit. We could smell the BS so we called these guys out. Super efficient, knowledgeable, helpful receptionist. They saved us a ton of money and trouble. Very happy.

I was very happy with Big Blue. They installed a new sump and pump last fall, and a new boiler for my heating system this spring. They communicated well, all of their people were friendly and helpful, and they did good work.

Randy from Big Blue came out to fix a leaking pipe under the sink. He was on time and professional. He clearly explained and fixed the problem. He took extra measures to make sure it wouldn't happen again. I thought the price was reasonable for the time, and I would definitely use this company again. I also thought that the staff I spoke to on the phone were helpful.

Strongly recommend. Kevin and the team were incredibly responsive and came in with a bid on my furnace replacement that was literally half of what another contractor had quoted for the same job. They were flexible and helped to get the job on the calendar urgently despite a packed schedule. I wish I’d found them years ago but am glad they’re on our roster now.
