Alakai Mechanical was instructed to come to my condo through my management property company. They were only supposed to fix a leaking shower head. They had come a month prior to fix the shower head but only used tape to close the water shooting out and that didn’t work. So the second time they come to fix the shower head the plumber also sneaks in a charge for snaking my drain saying we have a clog at the condo. This is not true and the plumber “Doc” blatantly lied. We did not have a clog when we called the management property about the problem and we always use a strainer in our bath tubs. Alakai Mechanical is trying to charge me $235 for something that did not need to be fixed. Beware of this company. They have a lot of negative reviews and now I understand why.

Scope of work was to check kitchen sink for a leak and clogged bathroom sink and shower. The technician stated this on the invoice: Prior to arrival on property made contact with the owner at which time had a hard time contacting tenant but arrived on property and was told if I could wait a little bit for owner to contact tenant. I wish I was finally able to get access to the unit. Long story short, I was charged for 3 hours instead of less than 2 hours of work. The technician claims the extra time came from calling the tenant to gain access and going from the unit to his van took 1 hour and 20 minutes. This was not the case, it only took him at max 10 mins to gain access to the unit to perform his work. Before hiring a plumber make sure you work with a company who can come see what the issue is and give you an estimate. If they cannot do this then I would avoid using that company. I've tried making contact with a manger on this issue but no response. Bottom line, I was over charged.

Be careful with this plumbing company and remember the hours of service. They tend to over charge. I know I'll never go back to them and will never recommend to anyone!

I used them originally in 2012 and I thought they were ok. However, recently, I called them to schedule plumbing service two days from that time. After I got the appointment, I had to pay my condo management $50 to schedule water shutdown in order to do the repair. However, I got a voicemail with unclear message and asked me to call them back. After calling them without anyone knows what's going on, the next day I finally got through with them and told they cannot honor the appointment because no technicians are available. I asked them why they made the appointment the first place, but no one, including the boss, can get me a clear answer. I am totally fed up with this place and will never use them again. This is totally an unpleasant experience. I also urge everyone not to use their service.
The guy came to fix my shower was friendly, but not professional at all. Why he needed to borrow WD40 & screw driver from me? And it was almost done in about one hour, then he decided to go to a store to get some parts. They charged me all those hours (3hours total). Women in the office are not very nice. They have poor customer services over the phone. Worst of all, my shower problem is not fixed after all. I would not recommend this company to anybody.

Unbelievable this people coming to my building to do some construction work, First of all they are so much disrespectful and Loud, they starting work super early ,Super inconsiderate about tenants in the building , they screaming to each other in the hallway like day and they home!!!!

The most incompetent construction company on Oahu. Avoid at all costs. They charge insane prices for terrible work.
I have used Alakai for a few plumbing issues over the years and have always been satisfied. Last weekend, my garbage disposer crapped out. I called about 8:00 AM on Monday morning and was able to get an appointment for Tuesday AM between 8 and noon. Technician called at 6:30 AM and came right over with disposer. Installation completed before 8:30 AM with no problems.

I would be very careful using this company. We have hired this company in the past and they were okay, it's been a while and recently October 23, 2018 we hired them and the bottom line we were charged for what we felt wasn't reasonable. The working told us that he was going down to his truck to get a part and never showed up till 30-40 minutes later. We later found out that he left our property to get the part and yes we were charge their travel time to get the part. I wrote to their CEO and never got a reply back as we asked, a reply would be appreciated. It would have been nice for them to let us consumers that we would be charge in this case. As of this date November 12, 2018 still no reply. A complaint will also be sent to the Better Business Bureau.

Though friendly, would not recommend this company. Hired them to fix a drain leak on a split AC unit and what I received was a filter cleaning on all split AC units when time would have been spent better (@$110 an hour) fixing actual problem.
In the end I was charged $220 for barely over an hour of time(not work) at my property.
Do not recommend. They have yet to call me back.
