We spent thousands on cabinetry upgrades from Woodcase in our new home. Firstly, they were installed with a lot of imperfections that I found unacceptable but were considered too small to do anything about. I found lots of small nicks and scratches and even places that had been rather poorly touched up after we moved in. I guess they just don’t have a high standard of excellence in their work. Secondly, when our cabinets were damaged by an appliance repair person and we requested they do the repair so that our brand new cabinets could be replaced with the same product so that they would match the rest of the brand new cabinets in our brand new kitchen, this company was beyond unhelpful. Our builder proposed solutions to resolve the matter, and they would not agree to any of them. I proposed a variety of solutions, and they simply would not help. So in a brand new kitchen, there is no way to have my cabinets match. I was not asking for them to replace the cabinetry at no charge as obviously this is not a warranty issue. I was fully prepared to have the insurance claim cover the cost of any repairs or replacements, but they simply would not help. Our initial contact with a customer service representative was fine, but her hands were tied because the owners of the company simply refused to help with our problem. I spoke with the owners and they clearly could not be bothered to even consider a solution. I understand it was a non-standard request, but I expected that right after spending the amount we did on upgraded cabinetry, they would at least be willing to sell me a replacement unit so that I could have a willing cabinetry company install it. None of the companies I have spoken to about repairing our cabinets can believe the poor response from Woodcase. Finally, we are a couple without children and are very, very careful with our home furnishings and still I am unimpressed with how the cabinets are wearing in just the 9 months of owning our home. It’s unfortunate that our builder chose to work with this company and I know they have also been disappointed with their willingness to assist in our repair. If your home is being built in a community by a production builder, you won’t have a choice as to who builds your cabinets. But if you are building custom, please find a better company.
