Sean Anderson, designer, artist and visionary! After interviewing several Landscape/Design companies - persons, I then spoke to Sean. I immediately liked his approach; he was excited to provide options and ideas for my yard. He was like an artist with a blank canvas! After talking to me and looking at my yard through map quest, his artistic mind went to work. As I had told him I didn't know what I wanted, other than I wanted to have a very nice yard so I could enjoy. He gave me several versions until we came up with something I could live with and within my budget! When he was done, I had a beautiful yard and a fantastic shade structure that put the finishing touches to my backyard!! love it, love it!!

I had Sean design my backyard and I absolutely love the results. Sean is truly an artist and his enthusiasm about the project makes it really fun and exciting. He is also a perfectionist and will make certain everything is done to your satisfaction. If you like fire and water concepts....Sean is the guy. My backyard is totally transformed and I love being out there now, where as before, I rarely hung out in my backyard unless I was in the pool. Sean provided a professional drawing that really allowed me to envision the end result. He also provided a proposal that laid out each individual piece of the plan individually priced which made it so much easier to work around my budget. Sean and his various crews on different parts of the project did an incredible job on my back patio. He was creative in designing and agile when it came to making changes that would either create a more beautiful or functional space. His crew paid great attention to detail and cleaned up as much as possible after the day’s work, which I immensely appreciated. He built me a patio that is now my favorite place in my house to sit, read, and relax.

I wanted to convert my ugly yard with nothing but right angles to curves and organic shapes. Sean worked with me and converted my concepts and desires into reality. I wanted a curved bar and BBQ - and Mountainscapers came up with a unique design, recommending a shade structure and water feature along with lots of trees and desert tolerant plants (NO CACTUS). Sean was always creative and collaborative recommending improvements to the design and ultimately delivering an environment - no longer just a yard. It's my outside office and a space we now use 10 months out of the year.

Decided to fix up my house this last year starting with getting rid of the grass in the front yard in exchange for desert landscaping. Planning on staying in my home for years to come and I wanted something special but didn't know anything about outdoor design. That is when I met Sean. Not only did he deliver on an amazing design but executed it in the final product. I can't wait for the trees and plants to grow and give me my desert escape in the middle of the city. We had been looking for someone to build a shade structure that had rustic wood logs to match our Territorial/Santa Fe Style house. When I came across Mountainscapers Landscaping website and saw the photos, I was hopeful that they could achieve the look. And they did. Sean was efficient and very communicative every step of the way. We were very particular with what we wanted and he and his crew delivered! Whenever we addressed any concerns along the way, he was always willing to do so and with such positivity. I never felt like I was being difficult or putting him out (like my experience with other contractors had been in the past). He always put me at ease and was willing to hear and give me exactly what I wanted. The crew was respectful and always cleaned up their mess at the end of the workday which I greatly appreciated as well. We are so happy with the results both esthetically and quality-wise. In fact, we are currently devising ways to add more shade structures because we love it so much! Will definitely be calling Sean again soon!

While I hadn’t a clear idea of what needed to be done in the area that I wanted to improve, Sean was able to produce beautiful designs and walk me through the process. Equally important, he was respectful of my budget and layered the project and costs so I was able to decide which elements were necessary. I was so excited i found Sean and his fantastic crew to landscape my front yard. I checked all the great reviews and BBB before i decided to go with Sean and my research really paid off. Sean is an artist with his designs and his office staff is amazing! They were so helpful every step of the way and the landscapers were perfectionists! Sean used his expertise not only execute what we wanted, but drew our attention to possibilities we hadn't considered and are SO happy with. Sean initially came out in April of 2019 and I thought he was creative. He appeared to be listening to what I wanted as I shared my vision. I made it a point to let him know what plants I did and did not like, as well as how I wanted to extend out my covered patio with was already attached to my roof. After our consultation, I paid him $500 to draw up the plans. He came back a few weeks later and showed me what he came up with. Needless to say, I was flabbergasted. I told him I did not like palm trees nor bamboo and yet he placed bamboo as my privacy hedge around the perimeter of my house. Palm trees were scattered throughout my landscape. In addition, he did not draw a covered patio as I had asked him in the initial meeting, but instead had his signature fan structure. His response was that the plants were just placeholders and I can change them. As for the fan structure, I think he just likes to promote those. I felt like I had been taken advantage of and that he was not a true professional. Fast forward to July 2021 and still no landscape. I was mad at myself for not insisting that he provide updated drawings reflecting what I asked him to provide, so I sent him an email asking if he would fix my plans since I never gave him the opportunity to make things right. I knew a lot of time had gone by but I had paid him and never received what I paid for plus I felt he deserved an opportunity to rectify things. He accepted to meet again in August of 2021. On the day of our meeting, the scheduled time came but he did not show up. After a bit of time, he called me and asked why I didn't come to the Zoom meeting. I informed him that I did not know we were meeting via Zoom and had no idea that was how he wanted to meet. He then sent me a link and told him again, what I had wanted all along. Because it was on Zoom, it was incredibly difficult trying to communicate. He ended up asking me to send him any changes I wanted so I emailed him what I wanted. On February 11th, I get an email stating the following received your email regarding the 10 x 10 covered patio. Sean mentioned that we don't do this type of work. But if you're interested in the shade structure he presented earlier he is willing to continue with that. When I initially met with Sean, he told me he was an engineer by trade and a builder. He told me it would be no problem for him. That is why I had confidence in his ability to fix my covered patio issue. What a waste of time, energy and $500. If he always knew that he doesn't provide that type of work, then at a minimum, he could have at least updated my plans with the changes I gave him so I could at least see my vision on paper since I never even received a single revision.

We re-landscaped our backyard this spring. Sean had some great ideas when we started, and added some good tweeks as we went. He selected top quality plants, trees, boulders and tile. He used a creative irrigation system that kept the grass, trees and plants looking fresh throughout the summer.
He put his plans in the hands of Oscar and Sammy. They were on the job everyday for nearly 3 months. Their work was impeccable.
The project turned out better than we imagined. These folks really know what they're doing.

My wife and I were looking to develop an outdoor space for a 14 year old house. I had three bids, talked with several contractors on options using natural organic material. Was ready to give up, but have 10 weeks we finally met Sean. He heard what we wanted, steered us to an existing design in his portfolio. Within 1 week we had an agreement including design, material, color,... The crew was very knowledgeable, started early, and handled the details. We had one moment of decision making but did not lose a step. I believe there were three material deliveries, one the crew refused because it was incorrect. Worked in the excessive heat and when they left the place was neat and clean. ?

The end product is fantastic, awesome, ... It fits perfectly into the architecture of the house. It looks like the structure always was there. ? The materials captured our intentions within the project and was right on budget. It was a great pleasure for my wife and I to work with Sean and his team. The result is approximately 700 sq. ft. of patio space that we love and will continue to enjoy as it develops over the years. ?

Sean did a great job on our backyard privacy project.

I contacted Sean, told him I did not want to see the new home that was being built behind the one side of our backyard and he took care of the rest. His passion and attention to detail allowed him to design an all natural solution that combined trees and large bushes and looks completely natural while providing full privacy between our back yard and our new neighbors home.

Sean came over to my home several times during the design phase to make sure his solution would not impact any of our existing mountain and city light views. Sean is so pleasant to work with and I felt like I was able to be involved as much I wanted in the process.

Sean and his crew were amazing. They reconstructed my whole yard in October. Spring is now coming and all i have to say is amazing. I wake up to a beautiful oasis everyday and love it. Not only is my yard picture perfect they were very professional, never left my place a mess, always had things organized and picked up. My husband does underground/grading and he was very happy with their progress as well as their care of our place.

I am so pleased with Mountainscapers’ landscaping work, both hardscape and plantings, done this summer in my Flagstaff yard. The yard’s previous minimal landscaping was not in keeping with Flagstaff’s piney environment, and had also become overgrown. Now, after Mountainscapers’ work, the yard blends beautifully with the surrounding pine trees, as well as the house—in the selection of plant material and mulch, the addition of contours, the elimination of formal edgings and chipped granite, and the creation of a lovely boulder-edged drainage way looking just as it would in the forest.

Mountainscapers’ owner, Sean Anderson, was a delight to work with—a good listener, creative, industrious, cheerful, and kind. When I had to leave town for an extended period before the work was done, I had complete confidence that all would be completed as planned. We kept in touch via phone, text, and photos, and I was delighted with the results when I returned. Sean was also very patient in helping me understand the irrigation and lighting systems.

I was also happy with how Sean found ways to reuse materials from one part of the yard to improve something in another part, thus reducing costs and accomplishing some fixes I hadn’t contemplated getting done this year.

Sean did an outstanding performance in transforming our basic desert backyard and pool with an elementary water fall into a stellar green oasis with the totally amazing handcrafted waterfall that my husband loves, and now all of our friends want to spend the weekends at our resort! It's all in the details!

We could not be more pleased with the transformation of our backyard!! We have been wanting a small backyard basketball court for years. We invited several landscapers over a 3 month period to see if it would work. Then comes Sean from Mountainscapers-- hiscalm and friendly presence made a difference right from the beginning. He listened to our ideas and then right on the spot, he took out his sketching pad and studied the yard. What he produced was not a sketch, but a beautiful full colored design (piece of art) that was much better than we had even envisioned. We wanted trees for coverage and a court that looked natural and not like a school yard court. He offered that and much more. Sean had such great ideas and really worked with us every step of the way keeping in excellent communication with us. He even somehow got me to be a landscape artist myself while picking out plants, trees and ground cover and placing them just so in the yard for planting - very easy and fun to work with!

Not only did he make a beautiful basketball court but he was able to make play lines on the court look subtle and natural but that also were functional to the integrity of the concrete. His use of plants, burms, trees, concrete stain, flagstone steps, rock gardens, and walkways literally transformed my entire large back yard. We got much more than we initially envisioned at a great cost!!

You should call Sean for any project ideas you are even thinking of doing because he can make it happen with his creative artistic abilities and his awesome hardworking team. He made this project fun which I have heard is not the norm. We have been playing basketball and enjoying the yard everyday now! I highly recommend Mountainscapers for anyone in Flagstaff!

Well, it has been a year in the planning and designing-- and finally completion! Sean is creative, experienced and professional. I was involved with every stage of the project which COMPLETELY transformed my 1/2 acre property in North Central Phoenix. I wanted something original and with a modern twist. I also wanted a garden. All my wishes were beautifully put together to deliver a large functional garden and incorporate the fruit trees I wanted. Custom fountains, bridge, patios, fence/gate and garden shed all were exactly what I wanted. Designs were reviewed with me at every stage and the final products far exceeded my expectations. After receiving several bids, we chose them because of their incredibly creative proposal to turn my dirt pile of a backyard into an island oasis - complete with an incredible shade structure (made with hand-scraped Ponderosa pine), a deal of the century waterfall feature, a gently sloping grass area flanked by an incredible garden and an expanded patio.

My new landscaping has turned out better than I could ever had envisioned. Sean and his team created a natural desert landscape and I couldn't be happier. From the dirt mounds to planting, rock placement, lighting and irrigation system, all aspects were meticulously planned and executed.

The redesign of my small yard was not only expensive but an epic hassle from day one. I can't possibly write a short synopsis of all the things that went wrong, but the highlights are:

-Total disregard for original budget
-Scheduling problems
-Contract disputes
-No recollection of previous discussions
-Stolen property
-Irrigation lines placed incorrectly resulting in damage to plants/trees

After 3 months the irrigation is still not installed correctly and I have to pay someone else to fix it because I refuse to work with them any longer. I absolutely would not recommend this company.

It was great working with Sean and his team on my landscaping project. They were able to answer all of my questions professionally, and continued to keep me updated throughout the project. The original design was what really convinced me to hire them, and the finished product speaks for itself. If I have any future landscaping to be done I am definitely going back to Mountainscapers.

I would like to start with disclosing that this company has not worked on my house. I met them at a home show and they called me to set up an appointment to quote me for backyard landscaping.
We scheduled the appointment to meet at my property. On the day of the appointment the estimator called me to cancel. We reschedule for the following week. He came on on time and met with us and we discussed our budget and ideas. He then told us he would have a quote ready by the beginning of this week. After the week goes by, I emailed the company to ask where is the quote. I get an email response stating they discussed a $200 “design package”. So I reply, there was no such discussion. I get no reply. I then emailed the company again to let them know I have not received a response. I then get a reply that they are sorry for the delay and decided to pass on my project. I’m sure they do nice work, but the communication is terrible. It would have been nice if they just told me they were passing on my project last week.

Sean was extremely creative and had a lot of interesting ideas to enhance our landscaping that I had not considered. He definitely has great creativity and inspiration!

I had a lot of work done around my house. They Built a 90 degree shade structure
that looks great with flag stone base and walkway They moved stone from back to front yard. Removed cactus that had over grown. Built a mound in front out of rock to give the yard a pop They did all of this in a very short time.
