Gothic did the landscaping on our new home. No complaints there, so I called them to schedule a quote for our backyard which is a blank canvas and I scheduled an appointment to receive a quote. The woman who took my call could barely speak English and couldn't for the life of her get my phone number correct when reading it back to me twice. She kept reading back different numbers and I had to correct her. This should have been the first red flag. Fast forward to appointment day.. The scheduled appointment time came and went and nobody showed up, so I called and asked when the sales person would arrive. The girl I spoke with told me that the appointment was scheduled for the following day an hour earlier than what was previously discussed. I told the young woman that the agreed upon appointment time was for today at 2PM. Long story short I had to cancel the appointment altogether because of an obvious clerical error on their end with scheduling. I'm glad that I took off work to meet their sales rep who was a no show. Gothic you just lost a $20-$30k job due to the incompetence of your customer service staff. I will have to call someone else to complete our backyard. Avoid this company. They're clueless. You've been warned.

One of your landscaping trucks backed out into heavy traffic today on Southern at 24 around 1pm. Almost caused a massive accident and could have killed someone. TRAIN YOUR DRIVERS TO OPERATE YOUR TRUCKS SAFELY. ???

If I could give them negative stars, I would. DO NOT RECOMMEND! They are lazy, they accept payment without rendering service and their employees disrespect the neighborhoods they are under contract for. I can’t wait for my community to fire them as soon as we have the chance to. I hope they go out of business. STAY AWAY!

This is our second house in the Eastmark Community. Unfortunately, for an unknown reason, the Developer is still doing business with this landscaping company. We took ownership of our new house and got to witness their lack of professionalism and attention to detail in our font yard and all the other ones they were assigned to. According to their supervisor, using a condescending tone, I might add, they followed the plan. According to the plan, it seems like there was not much plants on it. Some of those plants were already dead or about to and all of them extremely tiny. It seems also that using a measuring tape is very difficult as the hopseeds for the hedge were put in the ground unevenly and on the side! We got another landscaper to basically start from scratch (except for the hedge, another story) and fix this disaster. This is not a single occurrence... and yes, they will drive like maniacs in your community. We tried to gave them chances to make it right but it never happened, never their fault apparently. I invite you to take a look at their landscaping talent in attached pictures. Not much green I tell you...

UPDATE: 5000 views... Regarding the aforementioned hopseed hedge... Without letting us know, Gothic people came over to fix our hedge, a tiny plant was put between one of the gaps. Yet again, no sense of symmetry, totally clueless. Also, know this, showing up unannounced on people's property is called trespassing and is totally unacceptable. Never mind, we fixed it ourselves and bought another hopseed bush to replace the big one that didn't survive from being moved. (Good for you guys, you saved $10...)

Bought a home from Meritage. Gothic had done the landscaping in the front which was nicely done. Workers doing the sidewalk again (due dumpster being dropped on it) damaged the plants as well as damage to plants from replacing half of the driveway. Gothic came out at the request of Meritage (after I asked Meritage) to replace plants. Again, nicely done.

Included in our closing, we requested the backyard to be land-scaped also. Gothic did the backyard, gravel, shrubs (8), and trees (2) just before closing. This was paid out of closing. We later noticed something out of balance and discovered only 7 shrubs were planted instead of 8. One of the Lantanas was missing.

I called the Meritage Construction Manager (Frank) who insisted it was a warranty issue and the warranty was up after 60 days. I explained to him, you can not warranty what you did not plant. I contacted Nash Miner of Meritage, explained the issue to him, sent some pictures of the difference in corners, and pointed out a drip line was not in place where an eighth plant might be. He understood and called Gothic after I filed a warranty claim (no other way to do it with Meritage).

The Customer Service Superintendent came out. Eric Stoggett rearranged the plants and planted the missing Lantana. Eric was professional, courteous, and helpful. Not sure why the Lantana was never planted. Issue resolved in a professional manner with Nash Minor from Meritage and Eric Stoggett from Gothic.

In a nutshell, Mathew and Juan made our family’s backyard vision become a reality for us. They were awesome to work with and really listened to our wants while giving us their professional feedback in order to keep us in budget. We are so happy with how everything turned out and the process it took to get us there. Timing and coordinating with our pool builder is never and easy task but they all managed to get it done as quickly as they could. Juan’s crew headed by Javier worked their butts off in seeing our plans come to fruition. They were impressively versatile in laying our pavers, gravel, pouring and painting our basketball court, assembling and installing our basketball post and basket, replacing a palm tree, planting trees and plants, laying out the irrigation system, building our bbq pit and installing the grill, and lastly laying out our flagstone walkway. I watched them enough to know their meticulousness and professionalism while completing their tasks. Thank you very much for making our transition from Hawaii a most pleasurable experience and will create lots of memories for us in the future.

We were forced to use them for the front yard of our new build. They were great to start, but since then moving in, they had to move a couple plants, which they did. There were other issues since then (before the 30 day warranty was up) that I tried to get fixed, but I never received a response. They are way overpriced and really do a below average job when installing rock and pavers. They get in with community contractors, which is great for them because they use the cheapest materials they can buy in bulk and change a premium.

Moved into new home 2 months ago. We’ve had them out 4 times because irrigation constantly on. I specifically told Haley that I wanted them to knock on my door to discuss with me. Home all day & open the door to find a note saying sorry they missed us. Included in the note is them telling us the warrant is void & they won’t cover the problem. We’ve only had them work on it. I’ve called 3 times & have not heard back. Very poor service! Don’t use these people. You’ll have nothing but headaches.

I am sure the workers are great but the leadership is a mess.

I contacted this company MULTIPLE times to come fix a issue I was having. My home builder wanted me to contact this company since they use them to do all their new home landscaping.

The guy (don't want to put his name up) constantly said he would come by but never showed up when he was suppose to. Weeks went by, and even months until I would finally call him back but was followed by more empty promises. I can't believe I was nearly begging this company to take my money.

Overall, I did the job myself and saved a ton of money. How can companies like this keep up? I feel bad for the employees because I am sure they are great people. The management sucks.

I was recommended to gothic landscape via my interior decorator. The landscape project was pretty straight forward, being a new built custom track home.
It took a couple weeks to connect with Gothic...mostly on there part..they wouldn’t return or answer calls. First red flag and I should’ve stopped there..but I didn’t, stupid me.
Finally got Steve, the designer, out to the house. He spent a fair amount of time and mapped out a good design...he also talked up the merits of the company.
Signed the contract and put down deposit$$$.
And then nothing, nada..for three weeks. Made calls, mostly unanswered. All of. Sudden a work team shows up and they start. Prepped, drip system, and two 4 foot high mounds of gravel/rock dumped in the from of the house. And then nothing, no show the next day. Again, made call only to be told they had a emergency and had to pull the crew. Finally showed up 4-5 days later and finished roughly 2/3’s of the job. And then again nothing.....called again only to be told the crew had been terminated. 4-5 days later crew showed up (same crew as before) to finish the job.
Tutorial on the drip system was half assed...thank god for the manual.
Overall, they took a 3 day job and turned it into almost a month...and they had a difficult time retuning/answering phone calls. In addition, their lead supervisors acted like they were doing you a favor....
After watching a few other landscape companies do work in our new neighborhood and how they were quick and concise, I would be hard pressed to recommend Gothic to anyone (aside from the design layout)

I've had some issues with my new home landscaping. Such as sparse rock and 500LB boulders that I can lift. I called the customer service line because my 4 month old sprinklers had a leak. The customer service lady was great and it got fixed. They did come take pics of the yard to see what can be done, hopefully what I was contractually guaranteed will be fixed and taken care of. I have been given the run around since January, if they fix my yard I will continue this review. Well to update Eric was the man he delivered the right size boulders and additional rock. So thank you for following up.

Sadly I'm experiencing lack of water on my plants like all East mark residents. Also have a huge hole on front yard with no rocks. Thankfully they replaced the dead tree 2x. Now its not a flowering tree which I wish they put like all the other front yards. One of the shrubs died and its been a year and still not replaced. I wish they would be more responsive and check on everyone to show they care.

We have asked for a quote over a month ago...I know they were here last week because I saw them on our security camera. We called them to ask about our quote but was told they would get back to us because they are busy. Looking for another company now.

You now want me to edit my review? Where is our quote? You are more concerned with a review than actually giving us service? We only asked for a quote and your quys were here! I found another company to help us. You will be reviewed as the worst service ever! You kept telling my wife that you would get back with us on the phone...several times! It's a quote!!! Your guys were here!!! How hard is that?! We just needed gravel in our back yard! I know this wasn't your first bad review because you only have a 2.4 review on Google! I know why our HOA hired you now...you are cheap!

Just recently had an interview with this company and have to say it was very unprofessional. Place had me go to dmv get last 3 years of my driving record, OK which was fine. Had my interview at 1 o'clock sharp I show up to the interview to be told he forgot about the interview this is their field recruiter. So the lady gave me his number to call HIM! instead of him trying to call me. We have the interview it goes well and he said he was going to message me all the information to get hired!. He never sends me anything. If this place handles the way they do business hiring. I could only imagine the way this place operates doing business with clientele.

This company does a poor job responding and honoring their warranties. I bought a new home. Gothic did my front landscaping. I had death plants in the first 60 days. I call them, someone came told us one thing and reported something different in their notes. It has been about a month since their first show up and they have not replaced my death plants. Also their designs and style are below standards. I hope Gehan Homes stops making business with them.

With out question one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with in any industry. We spent thousands of dollars with them and they just continue to drop the ball at every turn. If you like quality and honesty they are not for you. If you like B S they are your guys.!

Grading not done properly. Was promised 2 inches worth of gravel but I can literally see soil patches. Tamping was not done properly and there are parts where the soil has collapsed and multiple holes are showing up. Would not recommend, really unhappy.

Do not hire them if you care about your landscaping. Do not hire them if you want healthy trees. They do landscaping for my neighborhood and have done a terrible job in general but especially with our young trees. Many trees have grown over their support wires. They do not bother to trim the trees into a healthy shape for growth, causing them to be deformed and top heavy. They blow over in light rain, it doesn’t even take a monsoon. Then when I asked they prop up a bent over tree after light rain they said no they had to get approval. After a week I contacted the HOA and they said Gothic said the tree needed to be replaced because the root ball was exposed. This was a LIE intended to fraudulently take money from the residents of my neighborhood. There was 0 root exposed. Sickening business practices. If it happened to us, odds are we aren’t the only ones and this isn’t their first rodeo. Stay away.

Gothic Landscaping does cheap work. They installed the front yards in my new community and many homeowners have had problems. Plants and trees have died while those that do live have shallow root systems and stunted growth. The put just enough rock down to barely cover your yard and I have had a lot of sinkholes from poor packing. It's unfortunate that the cheapest bidder wins the contract and I have expressed my concern with this company to my home builder.

My hoa decided to switch our community to Gothic its been about 2 years and in yhat 2 years nearly all our green ways are dead, trees and bushes look terrible and overgrown. Every park and large grass area is 90% weeds. Absolutely incompetent land scapers. They are definitely very good at mowing dirt though and that's all you will have if you hire Gothic.

I had purchased a new home with pulte and Gothic landscaping did my front yard. At first they did a decent job with replacing a tree which died twice (first one died within a week and second one lasted at least a few extra days than the last) then provided a tree that has stayed alive so far.
My chief complaint is that their customer service work order person is very poor at communication and has taken several attempts for me at contacting, each time i needed something, only to be told someone would come out to fix my issue and this last time never did. There was no communication even after calling them one final time to tell me anything about the status of my work order.
I would highly not recommend Gothic Landscaping for your needs as they are not a company who backs up their commitment to their customers nor value them enough to provide even mediocre customer service and landscaping needs. This is clearly evident by every review being a 1 star rating.

Shame on Pulte for either not doing their research and contracting with a reputable company or by going cheap for their home buyers landscaping needs.

?? I DO NOT recommend using Gothic Landscaping. We had a leak in our watering system and the electrical did not work within the first month of the completion of our front yard. In addition, the plants we requested from Steve Sappenfield did not match our original requests. We emailed for a month to get someone out to fix our leaks and electrical only to be told someone came out while we were at work and did not see any problems. This company has the worst professionalism and customer service imaginable. Watch out for Steve Sappenfield and his Admin Assistant Alison Krogstie as they led the team to the horrible service.

I recently moved to the Phoenix area and needed to have my back yard landscaped. Our builder let me know Gothic Landscaping had done the landscaping in the front yards for the new homes in my neighborhood. I thought I would get an estimate from them, since it might be easier to have the original landscaper do the back so the design would be consistent. I submitted an online request to have someone contact me. A week later I received a phone call from one of their design team. When I explained what I was considering for the design she asked me if I was having other estimates done, and I told her I was. She then asked me to give her the dimensions of the various projects that I had received from the other landscaping companies because it would save them a trip out. That was the first clue that there was something wrong with this company.

When I deflected her attempts to get me to give her the exact dimensions, she then told me, We aren't the cheapest company on the block, and if you're getting estimates from other companies, it's unlikely we can match their prices. I explained that I was getting estimates from several companies and would be choosing based not only on price but on overall customer service and willingness to work with me. Several times again she told me that their company was very expensive, and from her tone I got the distinct impression she didn't think I could afford them, which is clearly not the case. At this point I had reached my saturation point with her pretentious and elitist attitude, and told her that the problem wasn't that I couldn't afford their services, but the problem was clearly her erroneous assumption that I did not have the financial ability to pay for a landscape designer, and that her attitude had just cost them a very lucrative job.

If this is the sort of person Gothic Landscaping has selling their services, they may want to rethink how they do business. Salespeople assuming potential clients can't afford their services is a very costly mistake that I've seen happen time and time again. Also, insisting that the potential client pass along information they have received in estimates from other companies to save Gothic Landscaping employees a trip out there is about as lazy as it gets. If the company is seriously interested in attracting new clients, having a design specialist go to the property and meet with the owner to discuss design options is one of the most basic of services they should offer. I would avoid this company at all costs.

Horrible service. Do not use their services as they do not do a good job at all. Waste of money. I am so disappointed. Grading is not consistent and sloping is also not done properly. Water is accumulating at many spots. This so so disappointing. I do not recommend Gothic Landscape to anyone. I wish I had an option to give zero or negative stars.

They have a new manager, Michele, who is absolutely the worst. They can't even follow a map. They've removed plants they were not supposed to, then left the plants all over the streets. Contract says they pick up trash & they refuse to do so. They refuse to adhere to their contract. Don't walk, run away from this company.

Gothic seems to be a “low value” service company. My HOA has them as our landscape service in Johnson Ranch. The park in my subdivision is constantly over run with weeds, and this is ongoing, not just once in a while. As far as their unresponsiveness, I’ve contacted the HOA 2 times about some tree limbs that are the HOA’s responsibility to cut, due to being in a “common area”. On both contact occasions, I am told “Chad from Gothic” will get in contact with you... since 3/09/2020, I’ve yet to hear from Chad nor have the limbs been removed from the tree. ( limbs are very close to my roof line/side window)
Unfortunately, I’m stuck with this lackluster company, as long as my HOA continues to fund the “lowest quality bid”.
If you’re looking for a service company on your own, I’d suggest you look elsewhere. And,
I’m not the first person giving an honest, “low review rating”.”

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Have had them scheduled at least 7 times to come do warranty work through Meritage Homes and they have no-showed every time. The irrigation they installed is leaking gallons of water a day. Meritage should care more and not take the lowest bidder as the winner, because they are supposed to be known for high-end homes. With hiring landscapers like this, the Meritage brand quality falls.
UPDATE: 9/10/18 - Scheduled once again. Stayed home from work again. Did not show up AGAIN (8th time).

This company has ripped me off doing the landscaping with plants that case me and my family harmful health issues. They lied from the vet beginning, I should have know there was going to be a problem. Pulte contracted them to landscape properties. Pulse and homeowners are getting ripped off. Anyone who is purchasing here will know what to expect.

This company is the ABSOLUTE WORST!!! They were hired by PULTE to do the landscaping at my new build and there are terrible sink holes outside so bad I cant walk around the property. The plants have all died and they installed summer grass for a home I closed on October 27th!!!

The line for the irrigation system is already leaking and I haven't lived here 60 days yet!!! What the hell kind of company is this and shame on PULTE homes for hiring this group of unprofessional people on a development this size.

If their service is anything like the driver pulling a trailer in Gilbert today, I would stay away. This guy has no business driving a truck, let alone pulling a trailer. Speeding, cut off cars, almost lost the trailer a few times. There were kids in a cross walk and side walk he could have caused harm to. I am reporting it to the police. Just ridiculous.

My builder Porchlight hired them for my new home front yard landscaping. Their irrigation leaked and tree died as soon as I moved in. Customer service is horrible. They always ask us to leave voice mails and never calls back. DO NOT HIRE THEM. Shame on Porchlight.

Drive through Cachet Homes at the Wigwam to make your own opinion. Gothic's plant placement appears very random and many plants died after new construction in March 2020. No support from Gothic to warranty plants. Some plants not meant for direct sun (eg: foxtail fern). Our front yard looks terrible due to poor placements and poor plant choices. Gothic's quote to install backyard landscaping was twice that of competitors.

Steve is a landscaping artist! He walked us through step by step to pick out of perfect yard. I know mothing about trees and plants, but Steve was able to reccommend a variety based or some colors we chose or the maintenance required. I did not think choosing options for the landscape was going to be such a daunting task, but Steve S was able to make it as painless as possible. Ficus trees all the way!

This landscaping company unfortunately does the landscaping for our HOA, (which is still run by the builder) . Even after our community has complained about the lack of maintenance and quality of work they rushed through and butchered everything, limbs sticking out that are not trimmed. Weeds everywhere. Stay away if your considering them for a HOA community.

Hey Gothic Landscape,

Today 4/14/23 at around 1:20pm your employee driving the truck with the license plate CM19716 decided to merge into my lane without looking. After I honked and he looked at me... he KEPT merging.

Luckily there wasn't anyone beside me so I was able to switch over. Yea I was headed to the hospital anyways but I was not looking to go there in an ambulance.

How about your drivers watch out for motorcycles before they decide to merge into their lane.
