I ended up calling Bergin, because others who were recommended to me were unavailable, but after this, I will call Bergin first when I need any of their services.

What a mess in my kitchen sink! Jason K. came out on Thursday evening and worked on the pipes under the sink for an hour and a half, at which time he determined that he needed to open up some pipework in the basement. He gave me the option of doing it last night (at overtime rates) or coming back today to finish. I opted for today, and he arrived when he said he would, worked for another hour and a half, and now the water is again flowing freely down my kitchen sink drains! He cleaned everything up after he was finished, ran the water in the sink to make sure everything was running as it should, and was a very pleasant person to do business with. I would highly recommend Cliff Bergin and Associates for their courtesy, excellent service, and overall ease of dealing with.

Technician showed up late. serviced' 2 AC units in less than an hour, which has never been done that quickly in previous visits. Rushed out quickly to the next appt. I checked the units, didn't clean out external AC units from fall debris. Replaced parts on units without telling me why. Replaced one furnace filter, which costs double what I can get at Home Depot. All in $330 dollars.

Called service manager to address 'rushed' service and no cleanout. Told me, 'its hard to do' and it might cost me more. Reminded him that in all their previous visits, the cleanout has always been done. Replied that each technician does service differently, so there was nothing he could do.

I mentioned my service and purchase history with the company for the past many years, and have used them consistently across two properties, just trying to affirm that I am a loyal customer and not just a hard case looking for a price break.

Can't do anything more, unless you want to pay more I was told again. Case closed.

So i got to thinking, maybe it is just one guy. We've all experienced this and I hope in this case it is true. So buyers beware, if you read this, please ask ahead of time what tech is scheduled for your HVAC appointment. If it is Max, maybe, you should ask for someone else to avoid the hassle I endured. I learned an expensive lesson here, maybe you can avoid the same frustration.

Oh, and buy all your air filters online. They are half the cost of what I was charged by CB.

We are not happy with this company's service! So much so that we had to call another service to correct the problem this company missed...an expensive mistake for heating issues...$500 plus later...

Description Of Work:

I had a small leak in a natural gas line that ran to a HVAC unit in the attic. A plumber was sent out to repair the gas line. While repairing said line he noticed that the condensate pan for the HVAC unit was almost full of water and the drain line was not draining. He offered to repair that after he finished repairing the gas line. He did so, draining the pan, cutting the drain line, cleaning out the line and repairing it. He spent half his time at the home working on the drain line. When he concluded his service he presented a bill for $479 which I paid in full. The receipt noted that the work was guaranteed for 30 days for labor and 0ne year for parts.

Comments:

Three nights later I awoke to find water leaking rapidly through my ceiling. The condensate pan of the HVAC unit was overflowing and the drain line was not working. I called Cliff Bergin and asked that the plumber be sent back. They declined to do so, but sent an HVAC specialist the next day. The specialist drained the pan and cleared the drain line again. He suggested that the tilt of the fan coil unit was causing excess condensate and he leveled it. He suggested additional improvements (a 2nd drain line and additional venting). As the unit had functioned without issue for over 9 years during my ownership and 20 years overall, I declined these improvements. Upon completion, the technician tried to present me a bill for $183 for again draining the pan, making the drain functional and leveling the coil. As it had only been 3 days since the previous repair for an identical cause (i.e., a clogged drain line) I declined to pay as I felt that this service should be covered by the warranty.

It should also be noted that the overflow through the ceiling caused $300 of damage that I had to pay to have subsequently repaired.

In subsequent written communications CBA acknowledges that if the drain had worked correctly, it would not have mattered how much water the condensation coil generated or whether the coil was level. However, CBA goes on to claim that the cause of the issue is that the primary condensate drain line was not pitched and vented properly upon original installation. Given that the original installation was 20 years previous, no change in that tilt or ventilation, and the fact that there had never before (or since) been an issue with the drain, this statement is just not credible.

While initially pleased with the work CBA performed, I find their subsequent billing for what should have been warranty service abhorrent and unprofessional and would neither use them again or recommend them to anyone else.

Contracted with Cliff Bergin to replace the existing water heater/softener. They were easy to work with and was wholly satisfied with the results.

The icing on the cake was the after installation care. The previous pipe/valve configuration mixed hard and soft water such that no benefits were being recognized. They stopped by multiple times to correct the issue and continually test the water for hardness.

Lastly, they also walked me through the unique nature of the pipe configuration to insure the outside hose bibs could be turned off during the winter months and still enjoy soft water.

I have used this company on two different occasions and the price is always much higher than anticipated, which if something else was not included on the initial request I can understand that. however, this was not the case and not until I received the bill did I notice the massive increase. I would stay far away from this company as I have heard numerous bad things about them and their practices in the Mequon area.

Installed backup sump pump. As usual, a very professional experience. One of the owners came out to look at our situation and help us decide on the most appropriate system. Within a week of the estimate they were here installing the system. They made improvements to the existing system and modified to a battery back up. Very curtious, cleaned up nicely. Very well done - as we've come to expect from them. I'd recommend them to a friend in a heartbeat.

Unconditional support and endorsement of Cliff Bergin and Associates. Our furnace went out last night. My call to Cliff Bergin and Associates was quickly returned. The response by the tech last night, their phone call to me at 8 o'clock Saturday morning to confirm they had the part, and the tech's arrival at 9:30 this morning was unbelievable. It took 20 minutes to repair and the furnace is back up and running. I highly recommend them.

A few years ago, an employee of this company accidentally broke a pipe while fixing the A/C unit in our attic. As you can see in our photos, this caused a major leak which damaged the drywall in the ceiling below. The employee returned and admitted that he caused the issue. He ultimately fixed the pipe, but we were charged for both visits. This winter, we were finally ready to fix the drywall and the lowest estimate was $785. I called the owner of Cliff Bergin & Associates, Bob, explained everything to him and asked him to review the paperwork. I asked him to cover the repair cost or at least pay half. He told me he did not doubt what happened and would look into it and call me back, but he never did. I have called him a second time and left a voicemail, but have heard nothing. We do not appreciate his lack of response and we want others to learn about our experience with Bob the owner.

On a recent Friday afternoon my garbage disposal fell off with a thump, and a flood of water gushed from under the sink! It seemed to be a disaster since company was coming in a few hours. I called Cliff Bergin and within a half an hour Justin was at my door. A few minutes later he had reinstalled the disposal. He was both courteous and professional. Needless to say, Cliff Bergin is the only company I will call with my plumbing problems!!

Sewer line backed up this morning. Cliff Bergin plumber was at our home within 2 hours. Fantastic!

I called for a leaking garbage disposal. They sent a serviceman in less than 2 hours which I hadn't expected. He replaced it and looked at 2 other small issues even though he said they were scheduled for just the service requested. and handled the other two as well. i couldn't be more pleased.

Great Service and expertise. I've spend a lot of money on plumbing and now furnace repair and was disappointed I was charged at overtime rates when my furnace went out at 5 degrees outside temperatures. I called for service at 3:30 on a Monday. I like the workers and their work but not the extra costs in extreme temperatures.

Another great experience with Cliff Bergin. I have had Cliff Bergin out to my house on other occasions for other issues and was pleased with the service and this instance was no different. My furnace went out last evening and I was convinced based on the fact that it is 28 years old that I was going to have to buy a new furnace. Mark K. was my service tech and was absolutely fantastic. He explained everything to me and didn't try to get me to purchase things I didn't need. Turns out all I had was a cracked igniter and he was honest in telling me it was a easy repair instead of the replacement I feared I needed. I'm sure there are people out there that would have seen a single woman thinking she needed a new furnace and monopolized on that. I was very happy with the service I received and will definitely continue to use Cliff Bergin in the future..

Very efficient from scheduling to performance of service call

Broke a line in our boiler heating system just as an April storm and cold snap approached. Within five minutes of calling after hours I was called back by a service technician (who quoted me the costs for an after hours call and travel) and he was at our home less than twenty minutes later. He not only quickly fixed the problem but also gave me an overview of our boiler and made suggestions for better performance. Michael did an awesome job and I was wonderfully pleased with how I was treated and the quality of workmanship. They became my “go to” company for heating and cooling. Just bought a flipped house and literally everything was leaking or installed incorrectly. They came out and fixed everything that needed to be fixed, quick and friendly. Pointed out things that were wrong but wouldn't really cause a problem so I was given the option to fix it or not, they didn't just fix it and charge me. Excellent experience

I would recommend Cliff Bergin for your HVAC and Plumbing needs. When I called, they were able to dispatch someone on the same day. Our expert, Mark, was experienced, professional, and worked efficiently to solve our issue. Their pricing is transparent and fair.

Water was first dripping, and then pouring, through the ceiling of our bedroom. First we turned off the house water supply and then called Cliff Bergin. Adam had to cut through the drywall of the ceiling to trace the cause of the water, which had flowed about 15 feet along the top of the drywall from the toilet upstairs to the place the water was emerging! A flaw in the original installation (and the attempts to remediate it 25 years before we even bought the house) combined with some activity of a painter early in the past week was the final diagnosis. Adam stuck with the task working constantly for four hours until it was fixed (and all the mess cleaned up.) Definitely worth all five of the stars and then some!

Bergin employees have always been professional and know their particular job! We have used their services for the past 50 years and have always been happy with them!

MIke Simon installed a replacement Carrier 3.5 ton AC unit today in our home and did a really fine job. he arrived on time, had everything he needed with him, put down protections for our rugs and stairway, and set to work. He was diligent and thorough, communicated his status throughout the day, and worked tirelessly to get our new system up and running and then double checked everything. There is no evidence of any work having been done, not an extra piece of metal, an old piece of tubing, nothing that would say we had service except the new machine installed exactly as it should have been. I was very impressed by how organized his work plan was, and how effortlessly he knew what to do. he was friendly and seemed to really enjoy his work. Highly recommended!

They charge $132 per hour of service and on top of that an additional $65 for coming out to service. We had one part replaced that cost less than their hourly rate and it ended up costing almost $500. We feel they overcharge for their service.

The technician Mark was great!. We are new homeowners, it turns out Mark has serviced the home since 2004. He knew the house better than us. Mark serviced the equipment and gave an honest assessment of the current state.

Called at 4pm Friday - they were here at 4:20! Twenty minutes later, fixed and out the door, with a thorough cleaning of my furnace. Stephan, the technician was very pleasant to work with!

We recently had Cliff Bergin intall our new Carrier furnace. Dave, the sales rep, was very informative and presented four options for furnaces. The installation took most of a day. The two installers were friendly and careful to not leave any mess. The installation is very neat and professional. Per my request, they also checked the Carrier A/C unit and added refrigerant, charging only for the cost of the refrigerant. The final bill matched the original quote. The price quoted was similar to two other quotes I had received for this project. Completely satisfactory experience.

I was advised to do a zone heating when Bergin installed my new furnace. I was a bit hesitant because of the price, but so glad I did. They really are experts at HVAC.

Very happy with the service provided. Last fall our air conditioner failed. I called another hvac service and was told the compressor was inoperable and my unit needed to be replaced. I was quoted in the 10K range for a new unit. It was late fall so I decided to wait till spring. I called Bergin this morning and within 3 hours the technician had it up and running. Very impressed with all aspects of service. Highly recommend!!!

We scheduled an appointment days ahead of time with a 3 hour window. When it was nearing the end of that window my husband called and was assured they would arrive on time and be able to address our issue (which included a leak, and busted AC) before we had to leave. Guess what, they didn't show. Very disappointing. I understand that things come up and schedules change; but at least be honest or communicate a little better.

I first reached out to Cliff Bergin in September for a quote on an air exchange system and dehumidifier for the basement. Someone came to the house within a week. I was promised an estimate the following week.

After two weeks I followed up via email, called and called. At first no one got back to me and then I was promised an estimate THAT DAY for days and days.

My husband then called and someone came out again - finally 3-4 days later we got a formal estimate - about two months after I first reached out - that was 100% higher than the verbal one we were given.

While waiting, we got a competitive quote that was close in range and booked them instead of Cliff Bergin.

I get everyone is understaffed and this is a busy time for HVAC business, but it's not acceptable to not call back or communicate at all.

We had used Cliff Bergin in the past but will not moving forward.

Best plumber I have worked with. Came, fixed multiple issues quickly, did not try to upcharge, and made me feel secure with our new, and formerly leaky home. I will be using Cliff Bergen & Associates for all plumbing and HVAC needs going forward!

Once again had a great experience with Cliff Bergin. Kelley, the technician, arrived right on time. He was friendly and got the job done quickly, even fixing a part that wasn't working that he hadn't expected. Great work.

Very prompt and courteous service. He explained everything he was doing. They were fast and the cost was very fair.

Air conditioner running but not cooling. When Service agent looked at everything he reminded me that the air conditioner was rather old and I should be looking at replacing it soon. Well, when a person is on a limited income, all that can happen is prayers that the air conditioner forgets how old it is and keeps on running.

Excellent response time. From the minute I contacted the office they were very quick to get the technician to my home (same day), then quickly order the part for next day installation. The fellow scheduling the work was very accommodating and agreeable that the technician could enter my home in my absence. I am going to make sure I am home for the install though as I have been caught in the past with over charging by a service, said they were at my house longer than what they actually were which was confirmed by a neighbor. Have to assume that this company is fair and truthful given the many excellent reviews. So glad I found them for future work.

Sewer drain was backed up with some pretty nasty smelly debris present. Without any hesitation, the plumber started to attack the mess with a pump and his expertise. He covered all the bases from one drain hole to another. He was successful in winning the battle. Thanks for your help. Now only the mess for me to tackle.

Bob was very friendly and answered my questions about yearly maintenance and gave suggestions about the water softener use too. Great guy and would welcome him back anytime. I have used Cliff Bergin for a number of hvac and plumbing repairs since moving into our house. Each time they have been responsive and sent professional, knowledgeable technicians. They really go the extra mile to provide high quality service and explain everything they’re doing. Their pricing is also reasonable and they never push for unnecessary repairs or equipment replacement.

Prompt professional service . 130 dollars for a half hour inspection of a water heater. Arrived the day I called.

We had a new water heater installed and old one taken away. They called when they said they would, arrived promptly and were friendly and efficient.

Cliff Bergin's crew were courteous and extremely helpful. They were thorough and cleaned up after. They answered all of our questions and took the time to explain our new systems. So far we are pleased with our new furnace and air conditioner.

Our sewer system backed up at 9pm at night, so I called the emergency line. We got a return call within 5 minutes, and Mario was so calming (I was hysterical), and helped us through a temporary solution until we could make an appointment first thing the next morning (we opted to wait til morning if at all possible). We got a phone call first thing in the morning, and Mario came out at 8am to fix the issue. He was on time, swift, and answered all of questions. We highly recommend him to help if we need him again!

We had a emergency in our basement with a sewer backup. It was getting worse by the minute upon our discovery. Bergin responded in less than 40 minutes. Bob took care of our problem in no time. Could have been devastating if he had not arrived when he did. We were so grateful for the service we received in an emergency!

Excellent service on the RO water system for our Ice Makers. Nathan was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable and got the job done in a timely manner. Furnace team coming in a week to do the annual maintenance.

I was trying to get the same company to install a gas line for a new cooktop and also a new furnace. I had decided on another firm for this until Dan showed up and was not only interrested in supplying a new furnace but also looked at the cooktop installation which his firm had quoted on.Based on their revised quote and the ability to do bot jobs and at the same time I changed my mind and went with C Bergin. Both installs were great---Mike and Mike did very good work and were very detailed in their work. I made the right decision!

I hired Cliff Bergin to replace my galvanized steel water pipes with new copper pipes, and to install a new water heater. Chuck and Mario were the plumbers on day one and did a great job. I had some remaining flow issues so Chuck came back the next day to work on these. He was fabulous. He took time to logically and thoroughly diagnose the issues, and replaced what was needed to fix the problem. When Bergin & Associates fixes something you don't have to,wory about it anymore.

Just got my bill from them... over charged, couldn’t figure out were the leak was, they had to come back a couple of times and of course got charged for that so until they figured out and got fixed. they are under the clock so get ready to have a couple of people over and they might be able to fix it the first time but maybe not but you will still pay for it... no guarantee I guess... will not recommend. Will not use again.

Before I start my review to be fair to this business. All of our past experiences have been good. They have done what we asked and were happy with the services provided.

Today, my wife and I had an estimator come out and give us a quote on a Furnace and A/C unit to be replaced. We have been a customer of them for a long time and the previous home owners were as well.

The gentleman who came out to give the estimate was rather brash and kept trying to up-sell us something we did not want or need. He was very much perceived as being presumptuous in what our needs were.

The price quoted was comparable to another company that we had quote the job as well.

Needless to say due to this individuals high pressure sales tactics we chose to use another company. Which we also decided to go with a higher model because this other company did not use high-pressure sales tactics.

So in the end you will get more sales with less high pressure tactics and treat all customers the same regardless if their furnace is on its last leg or not.

Needless to say unfortunately due to this experience will no longer require your company's services in the future either.

My mom exactly 1 month ago had a service call on her 2 yr old furnace, and then yesterday her furnace had the same problem, the other company which starts with B when my mom called again had such an attitude and complained he hasn't seen his wife real long so they didn't come out. My mom had no heat. I THEN CALLED CLIFF BERGIN HEATING TODAY AND THEY WERE FANTASTIC . THEY CAME OUT WITHIN A COUPLE HOURS AND FIXED THE PROBLEM AND WERE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT NO HEAT IN MY MOM'S HOME. We hired Cliff Bergin & Associates, Inc. to install a new toilet after a mega leak a year ago. They were so great at getting us exactly the toilet we wanted. When Tom came out, he was super! He did great work and went over everything with us in detail plus answers extra questions before leaving. True Pro!

Pros: The technician showed up on time, replaced and fixed the broken shower cartridge.

Cons: I recieve a bill for 3 hours of work. But the technician was on the phone or outside my house for almost 1.5 hours. Also when I checked on him for the second time, he didn't like it and with a rude tone he told me that he will inform me when job is done.

I can't say enough about Cliff Bergin & Associates. They are so reliable and efficient! We deal with a bunch of vendors and the are by far the best.

Furnace was out, called at 7:00 am, technician was here by 8:00, resolved my issue by 9:00. Service technician very capable and courteous.

Stephan H. did a central air conditioner clean & check. He found that a rodent was in the outside unit over the winter. The rodent even chewed into a couple of wires. Stephan got it all cleaned-up and fixed-up. He recommended putting out rodent traps in the winter. Awesome work Stephan! He is knowledgable, friendly, and courteous...I think I'm seeing a trend here.

The service technician arrived a few hours after I called. You can't ask for a better response than that. I'm glad I went with Bergin for the installation of my furnace because if I need anything, they are there the same day.

I had a frozen pipe on a Friday going into a Holiday weekend and first Leroy on the phone was extremely helpful and and was clear with rates because there was a chance the technician was going to get to my house after hours because it was an last minute call, but would do there best to try not to. Jay the technician was able to get to my house before after hours and did his best to try to get it done so the hourly rate would stay down. Jay was clean , respectful , explained what was going on and did all attempts before having to cut open our wall.
A great experience that could of not been with a frozen pipe on a Friday!!

Had an issue with our water heater, one of the fittings to the out line had a bad seal and caused leakage. 15min fix, needed to be wiped off and retightened as well as a new seal for the pipe. Not even 25$ worth of parts. Water heater (literally built in 2016) still was working perfectly fine.
Did not find this out from Cliff Bergin & Associates. This was my experience with them.
Hired them to come check my water heater as there was some corrosion and mineral build up on the out pipe. Agreed to pay thier 'Arrival Fee' of 135$ (before tax, 142.45 after tax), thier plumber came to the house, walked into my basement and within an actual 10 seconds, just said You need a new water heater. Didnt even set his tools down or do any investigation. I asked why, he did not give any real answer, pipe could be damaged is basically what I was able to infer. He then said he would have the 'Master Plumber' call me, that day (he was very adamant about that), to see if it was even fixable. He then went to his truck, came back in and took a few pictures with his phone. The entire interaction was 5minutes, tops. He only even came back in because I went outside and asked him why he was in his truck, he replied that he was waiting for a phone call back. Now be aware, they charge by the hour to be at your place with a 30minute minimum. It was obvious he was trying to waste time to increase the amount.
He left when I told him I wouldnt be buying a new water heater.
Waited for a phone call from the 'Master Plumber'. Never recieved it.
Fast forward 4 days, recieved the 'invoice' for the 142.45. Find out, they have no online portal to pay them, thats fine, I call them to settle the bill (as I am a man of my word and I agreed to thier service fee), I explain the entire circumstance in both email and on the phone. Not once do I get an apology for any of how this was handled. Not once do I get any attempt to remedy the circumstances. Nope. Just, give me your money, goodbye.
If it was possible to give less than 1 star I would. I recommend against any interaction with this company.

TL;DR Bad Service, Bad Customer Service, No Follow Through or desire to fix the situation. Cost me 150$ to have someone walk my house for 5minutes and say You need a new one. Terrible.

Quick service and very friendly

The cost of my service was way above what I expected. I did not receive a call stating that additional work needed to be done. It was done without my knowledge. I was also told prior to any work being done, that any additional work would be covered by a warranty. That warranty, I later found out, was expired. I believe better communication was in need. I did not receive any kind of discount, or sale price. I have used this company for over 30 years, and to receive $10 off for 1 of 2 furnace cleaning seems ridiculous.

Cliff Bergin has become our go to HVAC resource. Honest and reliable with NO overselling. Their people are top notch. They have installed a heat pump, air conditioner and as of today, a furnace. I feel confident in their recommendations and highly recommend them.

Great knowledge of the history of plumbing and when and why changes were made by authorities over the years.

They came and put a new water heater in. Called one day there the next morning. Very professional. Was clean and helpful. We had a problem with the electrical and they called an electrician in to help with the problem. Everything turned out great but they want the extra step for safety.

I had an engineer come to the house for a full system replacement quote. He was thorough and I really liked his input. However, I was promised a quote in 1 week, it's 4 weeks later and no quote. I've emailed and called twice, I've never even received a response.

Cliff Bergin is great. Nathan came to my house today to fix a water line issue from the basement to the refrigerator upstairs. He determined that the copper tubing originally installed was not sufficient for the water line....the copper tubing, installed by another company, was kincked and twisted. Nathan ensured that the water that was leaking on my new kitchen linoleum was quickly mopped up and even better when all was said and done, everything was cleaned up and refrigerator put back into place. Great service!

Tom really knew his stuff. We had two other plumbers and even the city of Mequon out to try and resolve the odor that was coming from the crawl space in the basement. They failed, where Tom didn't. It was fixed, and, in detail, very well explained as to what was wrong, and how it was fixed. Never use a different plumbing service again. Thank you.

I contacted Cliff Bergin & Associates because my faucet was leaking water and the hot water did not work. The company sent over a person to fix it. The person that came to my house spent over two hours and did not fix the problem. He removed the entire faucet in my kitchen without asking me and tried to get me to buy a new one even though it was not needed. Then he charged me to put it back on again. He wasted most of the time and charged $300+. The next day, my husband changed the tube for the hot water and fixed the problem. I do not reccommend this company and will not use their services in the future.
