I had some electrical issues in my commercial apartment building. Called sme out on an emergency service call as our house electrician was not available. Sme insisted on pulling a permit to terminate building power (over $2000) and said they would have it off over an hour, 2 people would be dispatched to fix the problem and perform needed maintenance. The power was off about 20 minutes and the 1 tech they sent only changed some bad fuses. This did not fix the problem. He then said that it was the breakers and the building power would need to be shut off and another permit pulled. The tech also took on an incredibly disrespectful attitude. I told him no, and he said, he would have to fix it one way or another. Called the company, told them what happened and that I would be expecting a call back from a superior the next day. I had my house technician out and he discovered that the electrician from sme wasn't even working on the correct breaker panel, the breakers he said were bad were working properly, and the problem was cause by a LOOSE WIRE NUT in a conduit box 20 feet from the area the electrician was working and had walked by no les than 20 times. Months later the only follow up communication i receive is from their billing department wondering where their payment is. Here's my response.

First his company changed my appointment three times. The day they were suppose to come, he never showed up! I called SME and they said he was a bit behind on his first job. Ok. I understood this happens. Then they called an hour later to say the electrician had a doctors apt. for noon and couldn't make it till 3:30. I waited till 4. Then they called again to say that he couldn't make it at all that day!
I wasted my whole day off waiting for him!!
Would not recommend this company if you want someone dependable.

They installed a Tesla Charger for us. Within a year of installation, the charger failed and we called in another electrician who re-installed it in such a way that the wires would not get broken. Overall, their work was sloppy and not on schedule. Every time they worked at our place, they left trash behind. Our other electrician takes the trash out with him. I'm now concerned that none of their work was quality work. Will have our new electrician look it over after what he found with the Tesla Charger.

SME was very professional. They ensured that my work was performed efficiently and correctly. The job was a physically difficult and demanding one which they performed with good cheer and excellent communication.

I expect to use their services again and would recommend them for commercial or residential work.

Over the last few months I've had 3 electricians from different companies come and [failed to] help with a weird, intermittent problem. On a weekend, when we couldn't get any body to answer their phones, we got a hold of SME. We were dispatched a knowledgeable tech that show up that night. And even though it was raining, fixed the problem (which happened to be in the outside meter box / breaker). Where 3 others have failed, this tech found the problem and fixed it. I will be calling SME from now on. They're reliable, available, knowledgeable, and fast. Exactly what I wanted/needed.

Technician will make necessary update to meet code requirement as this is a part of the job so be sure and understand that sometime a simple job may takes a little longer because of that reason. Company is charging you for each ½ hour so even if the service runs into additional 10 minutes be prepared to pay for full ½ hour. If you understand that part then you’ll be okay when your technician give you an invoice. Other than that I have no complain.

First off this review is not about the service given. I have not hired them to do a job for me yet. This review is about there customer service and there availability of there estimator.

I made a call to SME and the lady on the other end sounded and acted like she was not to happy to talk with me and it felt like she had better things to do. She was very cold and had no feeling. We had a miss communication problem from the start. Instead of try to understand my problem she just became more confused and angry with me. She did not want to help. To her credit she did stay on the phone. I explained my problem 3 or 4 times and finely she got what I was saying. The problem was the difference between there free estimates (advertise on the radio 570) and a simple problem(a light switch not working). My problem fell under the free estimates after much debate. When it came time to schedule my appointment she said it would have to be between 9am and noon. I asked if there were any other times and the lady said no! I asked if they only had one estimator. She said yes and he only does 9am - noon. Well I have to work from 8am - 5pm. I can't take off work in the mornings but in the late afternoon would be fine. This is a problem! What do I do?

I think it's very short sided for SME to only have 1 person who does estimates and with such a small time frame. When if the guy gets sick there whole business just shuts down? I think they need to hire another person to take the later shifts.

SME says they want to have a relationship with the customers right? Well from there first contact on the phone I don't want to have anything to do with them. My first impression of the company. They are mean and don't really care about my problems and have better things to do than to help me. It seems like a screw you attitude. I would be stupid to get into a relationship with a person like that.

Worst Electrical contractor in Seattle. They refuse to pay me for my contracted wage. They laid me off on a 33 story building due to lack of work.

Avoid then at all costs.
