Mirsky Electric

I contacted Mirsky for a whole house knob and tube replacement and panel/service upgrade, and then again several months later to add exterior lighting and outlets. In both cases the job was done at or under estimated cost, the quality of the work was excellent, and the team was professional, courteous, and on time. I will absolutely use Mirsky again for any future electrical needs.

I hired Mirsky Electric for a sizable electrical rewire, panel and service upgrade for my 1950s home. The crew (Grant, Martin, Travis) was very professional, wore masks during customer visits, and kept me apprised of any updates on a regular basis.

Craftsmanship is high with Mirsky. For example, electrical rewiring requires drywall cutting -- Mirsky did the absolute minimum to cut drywall so that I wouldn't have to patch too many pieces.

The rewiring was complex but the crew got it done. Martin and Travis were able to rewire the kitchen to my specification including a 240V 50A stove top and additional romex connections for my vent hood.

The service panel was upgraded and moved to code. Grant even had the foresight to fish a 50A low gauge wire for an electrical vehicle service equipment (EVSE) for charging my electric car. Really superb.

I called up four electricians to give bids on this project. Mirsky's bid was straightforward and transparent. At the end of the project, they came under budget which is phenomenal.

We were referred to Mirsky to fix issues with certain bedroom outlets not working. Mike came in and investigated the outlets, wiring patterns and circuit breaker arrangement to determine the cause ... a seemingly unrelated outlet down in our daughter's room was affecting those in our master bedroom.

He found the issue quickly and logically, taking time to explain and answer our questions.

We definitely recommend Mirsky, and Mike in particular, and will next have them tackle a much large project: replacing all outlets, switches and dimmer mechanisms in the entire house (built in the '80s) with modern outlets, rocker switches and slide dimmers.

I first hired Mirsky Electric to rewire our house 10 years ago and they've been my go-to electricians ever since. Matt Morningstar is very responsive to calls, texts and emails. He is always friendly and helpful. The electricians do great work. The scheduling is prompt. I've never had anyone stand me up or fail to follow through with Mirsky Electric. The team from Mirsky Electric was a pleasure to work with from the quote inspection through to final completion of the job. Their quote was a clear breakdown of the work to be done. They were responsive to my questions about the quote. They suggested removing insulation before performing the work if I was planning on replacing it. This was inline with my plans and made everything go faster. While working on the house, they kept me informed of how we were for time and materials. They worked with me to take my concerns and questions into account. They finished everything early and under budget.

I would definitely work with them again. They were unique in my experience with contractors in this area. Highly recommended.

What's not to love about Mirsky? On-time, quick, professional, effective, and came in under estimate. Matt made the scheduling and estimating process easy, and Seamus handily completed the job. Top in their field and my new go-to electrician.

Mirsky Electric saved me from a living hell. Matt and Seamus really went above and beyond. I’d had a few projects done by Mirsky in the past, so when dealing with an emergency wherein my house was suddenly without running water (due to a critical path booster pump drawing too much current such that it tripped the breaker), I naturally reached out to Matt. Despite Mirsky typically having a long backlog, plus Matt and his whole team being in training the week I reached out, he helped me diagnose the issue over email through a series of exchanged photos, videos, star signs and cosmological events, etc. Upon accurately describing the issue and likely fix required (drilling some holes through my drywall to install a junction box / wire that through to a new 20A breaker in my circuit breaker panel), Matt then was able to get me an opening the week after — critical as I’d then be traveling for 10 days starting the week after that, and I needed to leave my cat and catsitter with running water. I can tell you for sure that this was not the type of work I felt comfortable trusting an unknown 24-hour contractor with, so as much as not having water for 8 days was painful, the alternative was not getting Mirsky out here for weeks more (due to their typically busy schedule) or going with a 24-hour tech who may not have done the job right. Upon arriving, Seamus quickly sized up the issue, identified the correct fix, thought of ways to minimize the drywall damage, wired everything up in less than two hours, left the place completely clean, and even left the 6 perfectly circular cut-out drywall pucks for me to patch back in later. Finally, the price was more than reasonable and they refused to accept a rush fee. I r8 8/8!

I contacted Mirsky Electric on Monday morning looking for a quote on an EV charger install and to diagnose some moderate LED flickering. Within 90 minutes I received a call back from Matt who let me know they were booked pretty far out for estimates, and even further out for the work. He was also very up front that diagnosing the LED flickering would likely be quite time-consuming and costly because I've already done all the trouble shooting and it's matter of finding the interference that's causing it, somewhere in the whole house. Probably not worth the cost. I thanked him the call back and said I'll probably need to install the EV charger myself as I need to complete it sooner than they would be available. I had a couple follow up questions to make sure I was selecting the optimal equipment for that install and Matt quickly replied back with the info I needed. We had a list of jobs to do and received a nicely detailed quote from Mirsky. We had to schedule pretty far out but they did great work when they got here, and it ended up being quicker and cheaper than quoted. They kept us informed about the progress they were making and made sure to check with us for any decisions that had to be made.

I called Mirsky in to install some smart switches and diagnose/fix a wiring issue with my garage lights. Nate was extremely competent, professional, and friendly. The appointment took considerably less time than I expected, saving me money. I'm already scheduling an appointment for some more work.

We hired Mirsky Electric for a large job on our 1910 home, which included panel upgrade, removal of remaining knob and tube, lighting replacements, outlet and switch additions, and a couple of other small improvements around the house. We were really pleased from start to finish. The estimate with Mike was straightforward, and he took a lot of time to walk through and explain various options, without pressuring or upselling. Matt was responsive, clear, and friendly in all communication. The two electricians who did the work, Grant and Thien, were punctual and friendly and very strict about masking in the house. It was great to chat with them each morning about the work ahead, discuss different options or potential issues, and then let them take it from there. When the work was finished we were really impressed by two things: the project came in under budget and the cuts in the drywall were minimal (another company in their estimate had told us we should remove all drywall in certain rooms to prep for their work!). I would gladly recommend Mirsky to anyone, and use them again. We're so glad that the electrical system in our home has now entered this century!

Mirsky recently helped us with a full knob and tube rewire and added recessed lighting in several rooms. The work was phenomenal and completed under budget and slightly ahead of schedule. The team was wonderful and kept us informed on progress thoughout the project. We highly recommend them!

Contacted Matt at Mirsky about an outlet issue. Mike came and replaced 5 outlets, including GFI’s. As always, service was timely, friendly, and professional, and price was reasonable.

Very happy with the work I had completed last week. All very simple items (replacing broken outlets/switches). Employee wore a mask and took off his shoes indoors - which was much appreciated. Pricing was on par with multiple other companies I reached out to, and their office manager was great (timely and responsive).

Excellent electricians and company. Requested a quote for some rewiring and circuit upgrades, plus a bit of troubleshooting for grounding issues and Mirsky was great. In particular, Grant and Thien who came out to do the work were extremely efficient, patient and willing to answer questions, careful when working around delicate furniture, knowledgeable, and fast. We even had a minor issue once they had left for the day with one of the circuits tripping for an unknown reason and Grant came back first thing the next morning, diagnosed the issue in about 30 seconds and made the correction with a great attitude the whole time. Pricing was also fair. They're not cheap, but their high standards reflect the price so its worth the cost.

All of my experiences with mirsky have been top-notch. Excellent quality work, done quickly. Every time they’ve been out, it’s taken less time than I anticipated, and I appreciate the attention to detail. I’ll be using them again any time I have electrical work that needs doing.

So, I scheduled someone to come out and give me an estimate. I guess they don’t give estimates. I had my older son (old enough to drink) home waiting for guys to come out and give an estimate to change the circuit panel. When they came out they called from my driveway (even though they said they would call 30 min before to allow me to coordinate) and I said I was around the corner and could come home and discuss. He said if I wasn’t him in 10 min he would leave. WTH? Go inside and estimate the work? Didn’t even knock on the door and just left. Seems they wanted to coach me into doing the work on the spot. Ahh, not gonna happen. I’m pretty sure they interview multiple people for one position as I plan to get estimates from several contractors for my one job. If they can’t respect that or comprehend, then on to the next electrician. Obviously, I will not be using mirsky services. Thanks for the experience and knowledge.

Mike is a god among men.

Mike is my hero and my savior.

Mike saved me $27,000.

Mike got my electricity working after nearly a month without either electricity or heat (separate issue). He identified the issue in less than 5 minutes. He probably saved my house from burning down, frankly. He fixed it in 10 minutes tops.

He gave me peace of mind -- my house doesn't have nearly as much knob and tube as I believed when I purchased it, and as two other electricians did not bother to inform me, preferring instead to let me believe I needed to rewire my entire home, at a whopping $27k in one instance.

I'm writing this crying big fat tears of joy because I had no idea how I was going to afford rewiring my home, replacing my entire HVAC system, and replacing my 30+ year old pipes throughout my home and the water heater, the latter two being almost as urgent as my electric problems. I don't have enough equity in my home yet to get a home equity loan like everyone suggested (except Mike), and I am the only home owner so paying a mortgage and thousands per month to pay off debt I incurred for getting this stuff fixed was a burden that Mike freed me of.

This is the best $300 I have ever spent. I do have electrical work to be done on my home. It's still got high priority. And yes, Mirsky and Mike will be the ones who get that job. You better believe I'll be referring everyone and their dog to these folk. I'll never call anyone else for electrical work ever again.

And I can't finish this without a shout-out to Matt, who was ridiculously responsive, looked over the other estimate and alerted me to the fact it was very high, worked with me to get Mike out to do an estimate, and then indirectly saved me $27,000.

Mirsky bossmen, I know you're reading this, because you monitor these reviews. You need to give Mike a raise. A huge raise. I'm talking a 10%+ raise. Because this man is about to bring you in a ton of business from me shouting his praises from the mountain tops.
