Pipespy is easily one of the best contractors I've worked with. The onsite team was punctual and professional and did a great job with the work itself and with the cleanup. The office and onsite team were very communicative, keeping me in the loop with every step of the process. I highly recommend and will use them again.

I had my sewer lateral replaced, in advance of a remodel. PipeSpy was great - they scheduled me quickly, kept me well-informed of all the work they would be doing, kept the worksite orderly, finished on-time, and cleaned up after themselves. I was very impressed! Would hire again.

Sooo, my house was gutted in a fire started in a trailer in the neighbor's driveway. Applying for a building permit from the City of Berkeley has been a 21 month nightmare!! At the very end of the permit process the city demanded a sewer lateral inspection, (something I am told usually occurs at the end of the build). My contractor said he had to apply for god knows what before he could hire a plumbing company to take of this. Enter PipeSpy whom I remembered put in a trenchless sewer many many years ago. I gave them a call and Boom! they were on it! Personable, responsive and efficient. What more can one ask for? I had forgotten this kind of efficiency was still possible. Thank you PipeSpy!

I had Roto Rooter clean our sewer lateral and they found excessive tree roots in the line and recommended that I have a camera inspection done. Roto Rooter completed the inspection and recommended that I replace the sewer lateral at a cost in excess of $37K. I asked if I could obtain a copy of the camera inspection and they wanted to charge an additional $750 for the copy which I declined.
I called Pipe Spy to conduct a camera inspection at a cost of $200 and I'd receive a digital copy of the inspection. Upon completion of the inspection, they recommended that I routinely have the line rooted out but replacement would not be required if the maintenance was completed on a regular annual basis. I'm sold on Pipe Spy and intend to utilize their services regularly going forward! My complements to Pipe Spy and their technician Sunny!

Alex gave me a referral for inside waste water line inspection and spent 15 minutes with me on the phone helping me diagnose my problem even though his company would not make any money off me. Very nice and patient

Overall a great job. The crew showed up on time, kept me apprised of status and when they were finished with the clean up, one would not know they were there. Very professional. We had a misunderstanding on where the clean out would be moved to and when I informed them that it would need to moved, they stepped in and said that they would make it right. I would highly recommend them.

The guy I spoke with over the phone when scheduling the appointment was very rude and disrespectful.

City required mapping of a non-recorded easement sewer line for ADU application. Heiko (Pipespy owner) attempted to convince the city the pipe was not on our property producing an old sewer map to no avail. Pipespy team arrived on time, scoped the sewer line, marked the location and recorded depth (pipe was not on our property). Crew was friendly and courteous. While cost was several times higher than other quote, they know what they are doing and a first-rate team. Definitely will give them consideration when the time comes for the sewer lateral work.

I was able to get an appointment quickly. Everyone I worked with from reception to technicians were professional, friendly, and helpful.
The cost for an inspection was very reasonable.

I will definitely use Pipe Spy in the future. Though I hope I never have to.

Hard to believe that I didn't call Pipe Spy years ago when problems started with the lateral line. I would have saved myself much trouble and expense! They came out and EXPERTLY cleared the line. That was a relief. No longer and emergency situation. Then they took care of installing the new one in the same toally professional manner. To say I was impressed is an understatement. Highly recommended!

Pipespy did the sewer lateral work for our new ADU in North Oakland. My contractor, who has been excellent, was incredibly impressed with the speed and quality of work by Pipespy. He doesn't say things like that a lot, and he knows way more than I do about this stuff. But he made a point of complementing their work and specifically mentioned their professionalism and quality.
On top of that, Pipespy's customer service has been simply excellent, with very rapid responses and very clear communication.

Almost 7 years ago, my elderly parents had a complicated sewer issue and Pipe Spy had been recommended to me by a general contractor. It was a tricky project requiring rerouting under the home, etc., but Pipe Spy did such a great job that I vowed to call them if I ever needed sewer work.

Well, that time came so I called PipeSpy. Heiko, himself, with Jordan, came to the house, did the camera evaluation, provided an estimate within a few hours, and scheduled the work a few days later. The crew, led by Gabe, was right on time, efficient, courteous, and friendly. Gabe patiently explained what they were doing and answered my questions as they went along. The project was completed in about 6 hours and they left the worksite CLEANER than it was prior to the onset; they did a SUPERB job! I've dealt with other sewer companies, having been a resident/manager of a 10-unit condo some years ago, and in my experience Pipe Spy is absolutely the very best!

Pipe Spy replaced the entire sewer system from the house to the city sewer line. They came immediately to help, then scheduled a complete repair, did a perfect job of repair, and left the premises better off than when they started. An excellent company that walks the walk.

PipeSpy just did our sewer lateral replacement to bring us up to code for City of Berkeley. Heiko and James and the whole team were incredibly responsive in the pre-contract phase, got the job done on budget and ahead of schedule too. Super clean and tidy excavation. Helped us with dealing with the City too. Heiko came out several times to help us understand a REALLY complicated sewer lateral project, just because he's a nice guy. Would totally recommend them to anyone in the area.

To add to the general chorus of praise….,
They do pipes. They do them well. They are respectful of landscaping. They kept us informed when, as sometimes happens, ancient plumbing installations presented an interesting plumbing puzzle.
They do NOT do general plumbing - and have been clear about that.
They are not the cheapest (several years ago we put a bid out for bid on a rental unit - so this may be dated information - I was impressed then with Sammy’s clarity of the terms and boundaries of the job he was willing to do. Notice, that for the current job, we did not bother to put it out to bid - we have been consistently satisfied customers.
As I write this, I am realizing- they did work more than once for us - all on different properties- all with disintegrated ancient plumbing pipes connecting to city sewers, all with satisfactory outcomes.

We had an exceptionally good experience with Pipe Spy when our nearly 100 year old sewer lateral needed replacement. James was professional and courteous. The job was well-coordinated, completed on time and on budget and the hardscape was restored to better-than-before condition. Their overall performance exceeded our expectations and we have no hesitation in recommending Pipe Spy.

While repairing a redwood deck, the sewer clean-out was uncovered and it seemed like a good time to inspect the lateral. A quick phone call to Pipe Spy and Alex was able to schedule an inspection in just a few days, which was very helpful in not slowing down the deck contractor's work.

Heiko arrived on schedule, did the video inspection and showed us what he was finding on the video screen. As suspected, the original 100 year-old terra cotta sewer lateral had several displacements and one collapsed section. Heiko provided a detailed estimate the next morning via email and we returned the signed estimate via email, too.

The trenchless replacement was scheduled promptly and completed in one day. Due to the depth of the city sewer line, it took the crew longer than expected to uncover that connection. They also had to dig another hole to uncover the collapsed section of the lateral. This required the crew to partially dismantle a stone path.

The trenchless replacement process itself is fascinating. After the new lateral was in place and connected, the Pipe Spy crew did an excellent job of filling all the excavated dirt and restoring the stone path.They cleaned up carefully and left the path and yard looking undisturbed. A video inspection and pressure test were completed the next day and took less than an hour.

Alex, Heiko, and all of the Pipe Spy folks we met were friendly and professional. The were good at communicating price and schedule, they arrived on-time, and stayed until the job was finished. They submitted the inspection to the City and handled all the paperwork.

James and his team were very kind and professional. The work was done quickly and they did a great job taking care of our yard. They had to dig in an area where we have succulents and cacti with a top layer of gravel. When they finished, I swear it looked nicer than it did before. I’m very happy with Pipespy and will definitely use them again if the need arises.

Pipe Spy replaced the sewer lateral at my house last week. They did it trenchless pipe and our landscaping wasn’t disturbed at all. I would give them 10 stars if that was an option!
Their estimate was fair. Maybe slightly higher than one other. But you get what you pay for! The quality of their work was exceptional. The crew was on time, super efficient, and super clean. I’ve NEVER seen a contractor clean as they went along, and leave the job so spotless at the end of the day. And I noticed that they were so skilled and well coordinated as a team that they barely had to talk to each other while working (it’s noisy work, opening the street and sidewalk etc) and all of the guys stayed on task every moment. I was a construction manager for 20 years so I have a lot to compare, and Pipe Spy is the best Contractor I’ve ever seen.

The team at Pipe Spy did an excellent job installing a lower lateral line at my residence in Oakland. It began by them putting a camera down the line at no charge to determine, I indeed needed a new sewer line. They were very straight forward, honest and made the whole process timely getting my compliance certificate from EBMUD in order to sell my property. I would definitely contact them again if I have any plumbing needs.

The guys are nice. Paid for a video inspection. Didn’t get a video or see what was up but got a quote out of it. How am I supposed to make a decision?

If I hadn’t paid for the video it wouldn’t be a big deal. Mistakes happen but don’t make me pay for nothing. Either come out again and show me what’s up or refund the money.

I needed to have the sewer lateral repaired for a commercial building and could not find a plumbing company that would respond/willing to do the work/or have the expertise to figure out the best way to get the job done. Two gentleman from this company came to do some work near my residence. Three weeks prior the city came out and worked on the sewer on the street outside, but put the manhole cover back in such a way that cars driving it over it now made it thud. City refused to help or even acknowledge the issue! I saw the two Pipe Spy guys, ran out, and let them know what was happening. They knew exactly what I was talking about, were super friendly, and made sure the cover now does not thud when cars go over it. I couldn't be happier! Very professional and polite!

I was on the board of an HOA that used Pipespy for our sewer lateral repair/replacement in 2021 and they did a fantastic job. So much so, that when I purchased a single family home and needed to do the laters there I called up Sonny and had him come take a look. Working with Sonny (both times) has been great. He's prompt, he replies to every message you send and he will come out personally to walk you through the scope of work and answer any questions you might have about the work, the process, etc. Our crew was here for two days and was headed up by Walter -- another really fantastic guy. The crew did their job, explained/answered my questions along the way and did a GREAT job putting our front yard/driveway back together. In fact, they left the site cleaner than it was when they arrived. As an added bonus, Sonny came out during the work and the day after work had concluded to check in on everything and make sure we were satisfied with how it went. We definitely were!
