We had a pipe burst in our crawl space the day before heading out of town for vacation. Michael & Sons were able to dispatch a technician, Maurece (Mo) to our house the same day we called. First time using company but won’t be the last if needed again! Noticed my toilet leaking and backing up around 10PM - Jumped online and was able to make a service appt for the next morning. Chris was the technician assigned and wasted no time in identifying the issue, giving great feedback on issue, along with recommendations to fully rectify. Dave was an entire joy. We had a bad experience with our last technicians from a different company and gave up on them. We switched to your company, and Dave came in and did everything by himself! He truly cared about helping us get hot water as soon as possible and was filled with compassion at hearing our situation, we had been without hot water for 6 days already. He spent the whole day putting his heart into his work, and by the end of the day, we all were able to take a shower, our baby girl included!!! We thank you and your company for sending him our way. I would highly recommend choosing Michael and Son!! I called the company late yesterday evening, to have someone over today due to plumbing problems. Unlike other companies who would’ve scheduled the visit for a quote on Monday and possibly scheduled to fix the problem days/weeks out. Michael and Son sent out their technician the very next next day.If you have plumbing issues, I recommend requesting Nigel Adams. He’s very professional and knowledgeable. Not only is he professional and knowledgeable but he came in, gave us a quote and fixed the problem within a few hrs.He made sure he cleaned everything as he completed his job.This company is awesome. They’ve just received a permanent customer. Great job Mr. Nigel Adams!!

The representative that arrived for a simple repair wanted to charge me $400 after I explained that the price was extreme he then lowered it to $290. I then inquired why didn't he offer me that in the beginning. I felt as if he was trying to take advantage of me. I dealt with this company several times and I had no complaints until now. Unfortunately I will not be doing business with this company I had the repair done for less than $290. I also called the company and express my concerns to the customer service department.

I called out a repair technician in July of 2021. He told me the reason my breaker kept tripping was the old unit was defective. The next day a salesman came out. I purchased a SERE 17, which is an upgrade form the older SERE 12. The one I purchased was not in stock when it came time to install, which was only a couple of days later. The installed unit is a SERE 19. Once the new unit was installed and turned on, the breaker tripped! Huh, that is weird. Replaced the breaker and have not had issues since.Now I am unable to get the receipt from the original technician that came out after calling repeatedly. My new more efficient units uses more kilowatt hours than the old SERE 12 did. I have compared the usage to years past from my electric company and I use more energy, even though the summer months were cooler and the winter months warmer. The only change was the AC unit! I have called and had several other technicians out to look at the unit and test and what-not, with no explanations at all. The last time, the guy said he was moving up to the regional manager and he would call me back. That was in November 2022. I have called several times since, still trying to get that receipt that was supposed to be sent to my email account in 2021 and to ask when this manager guy is going to get in touch with me. I am told we will leave a message for him. He has yet to call me.I would steer clear of this company, personally. The ONLY reason I continue to call is to try and get resolution to what they have promised to do without an action to actually keep said promise.The one star review would be a no star if that were an option, just for the company as a whole. The service techs that come out are friendly and understand my frustration with their employer.

Most of our experience with Michael & Son VB has worked out well. We've had them out numerous times with different issues but their restoration team was not stellar. When removing cabinets that were damaged due to plumbing issues, they broke most of the cabinets that they were pulling out. There was no inspection when pulling the cabinets out where the plumbing damage was so we learned today that when they were attempting to dry out the area with 4 giant fans, there was asbestos, therefore blowing asbestos all over our house for the last week.

Breon came out to do our electric work, same day I called for a appointment.He was AMAZING, super personable and took his time explaining the details of absolutely everything, from the financials plans and membership (which really saved us,) to the actual work and damage that had been done (which we were not surprised by, as the previous owners had really neglected our new home,) he walked us through everything step by step and as first time home owners who knew this probably wouldn’t be the most inexpensive process we were very much put at ease and peace of mine with Breon.He really made the experience a good one and he is while we will continue to use Michael and sons services.

We're about to complete our last military move in three days and as I was getting our laundry ready to go, my laundry room flooded. At 6pm, Thanksgiving around the corner, I was scrambling.I called a place, no answer. Called these guys, got the sweetest lady on the phone immediately and she had someone out at 9am to diagnose and repair. We had a clog that was resolved fast. The plumber was friendly and personable. We called them for an emergency repair of main water shut off gate valve that broke completely. We had to hold the broken stem into the valve where the turning wheel would normally go to prevent water from gushing out (like a jet). Of the three companies we called, Michael & Son (M&S) was the one that was scheduled to arrive first (about a little over 45 minutes to an hour), and arrived first. The second company arrived about 30-45 minutes later and was scheduled to arrive no later than 8:00 PM, this started at 2:30 PM. Still gladly we paid their emergency call fee as agreed since he still had to drive out from across the tunnel. The second company had installed the tankless water heater back in 2014. The third company that advertises 1-hour response time, could not make it out until the next day, so they were definitely out.Seth was our technician from M&S. He explained everything including the potential issues that might arise, and how he could resolve them or in one case could not (drywall repair). All were acceptable resolutions or things we would have to take care of. He showed part of our cohort how to shutoff the water from the street, we just need to get the tool for that tomorrow. He proceeded to replace the main water shut off gate valve with a ball valve. The ball valve is easier to turn, more durable, and I don't think it can be broken. Seth also provided recommendations and tips (like turning off your water if you are going on travel for a period of time, turning the handle slowly, winterizing your faucets using covers, and other general questions we had).This was not the first time one of us had dealt with them. The other half had a property across the water. He had M&S replace the HVAC system. He said they were very professional, and did a great job. He would use them again.We will definitely call them for an estimate for non-emergency issues/things we need done.** EDIT ** I have to thank Lavonda (sp?) too. She took my call while I was basically panicking. She calmed me down, dispatched the plumber, and listened!Attached is a picture of the broken gate valve. What one of my kid's plumber apprentice friend (not affiliated with M&S) called garbage valves. The repair cost a little bit more than we guesstimated, but it was well worth it. As for the busted gate valve, you can see that inside the hole there is material from where the stem (wheel turn thing) sheared off.Finally Seth did tell us that he does get calls for the same issue, broken gate valves. If your main shutoff is one of those valves, we highly recommend making a non-emergency appointment to replace it with a ball valve.

I had a portion of my outlets and electric services go out from some form of trip. Michael and son sent an electrician, Haywood Sorey, the very next day. He was professional and took the time to troubleshoot every aspect of the outage. He wasn't able to find what caused the short and had to schedule another appointment with the intent of diverting power from another source. When he came back, he had actually thought about what could be the problem after he left, traced some more cabling and discovered the problem. Problem solved, outlets work and he since he didn't have to do the power divert, I was only charged the initial troubleshooting price from the first visit. I couldn't be more impressed with Michael and Son, and Haywood Sorey is the pinnacle of customer service, professionalism, and expertise.

I cannot recommend this companyI’m not one to leave reviews, but I must share my experience with Michael & Sons. We recently moved to the Chesapeake, VA area (military family) and became aware our water heater was leaking. I called Michael & Sons because they appeared at the top of my Google search and seemingly had great reviews. They were able to send someone out ASAP via an easy online booking, which I appreciated. He was very friendly and shared my options for purchasing a new water heater. He came back the very next day for install. Everything was fine.After he left, I began to notice the hot water in our sinks and bath tubs smelled like chemicals. My husband, who was underway at the time, was not home to help verify this for me. I called Michaels & Sons back and asked them if this was normal? I also have a toddler at home and am expecting my second child. I was not comfortable using the water, let alone bathing my child in it. The installer came back and reassured me, though his explanation was that it was likely the adhesive (not the proper term) he used, which he showed me is non-toxic. He told me it was normal and the smell should go away “in a few days.” I felt so frustrated because this didn’t feel normal. The smell was so awful and it made me scared. I ended up asking my neighbors, who came over and verified the smell for me. They also said it is NOT NORMAL. I call the company back and end up crying to the receptionist because I’m frustrated and just spent over $3,000. A manager called me back and tried to give me a chemistry lesson in water heater installation. I felt like I was gastlit over and over again. I’m just an emotional pregnant woman.My neighbor was the only one who offered me solid advice, spend the next few hours filling and draining our bath tubs. After a few hours (and so much wasted water), the smell finally went away. Fast forward two weeks and we have the city inspector come out to inspect the job. He highlighted a few major areas that the installer missed, including a huge safety concern - a valve that could pump out 200 degree water into my garage? I about had a heart attack. So Michael & Sons had to come out again, for a fourth time. The manager calls me to explain the situation and I am very frustrated. He basically chocks it up to human error and again, I feel like my feelings are not valid and he is gaslighting me. Aren’t you guys supposed to be the experts? They blamed the inspector as if they don’t know what they’re doing. But Michael & Sons didn’t follow Chesapeake codes? Shouldn’t you know the codes of the areas you work in?Michael & Sons came out for a fourth installation. The city inspector came out for the second time and verified the work a week later, thank god. But all this being said I spent over $3,000 and the process from start to finish has been over a month.I cannot recommend Michael & Sons to anyone. And while the team members are nice enough and they have an easy, stream-lined appointment process, the experience was such a pain.

My AC is fixed!! That’s all I called and asked for but they went above and beyond! I recently purchased this home, like two days ago. I am also pregnant. I was able to book an emergency visit the following day in the evening. At times the heat in my home was unbearable and I called to check the status. They answer the phone every time, everyone associate I spoke with was very helpful, they explained in detail, and even helped troubleshoot. I always saw Michael and Son vans around on the roads and I am so glad because that’s what prompted me to choose them in my google search. Great team and quality. The man that came an fixed my AC (obviously my favorite person) was so knowledgeable. He taught us things about our HVAC system that they don’t even teach you when you buy a home that are pretty significant pieces of information. He told us we have a hybrid system. He helped us understand what was wrong and what he’d need to do to fix it. Awesome experience, highly recommend, God bless them all!

This was our second time using Michael and Sons. The first time was for an AC installation. This time was for a bathroom sink that had no hot water, low water flow, and a slow drain. Joe was here right at the start of the appointment time window. He quickly identified the issue, got everything fixed, and only charged the normal service call fee. I will continue to use Michael and Sons for any repair services that they offer.

I needed someone to find what was wrong with my downstairs toilet and have it repaired for my elderly parents. It was loose which I could fix but wanted to make sure there wasn’t anything else broken. I just bought this home. The customer service was great and according to my parents, the technician was nice. When the technician was asked, what could be the price for the repair. He told my parents that if he has to remove the toilet and fix underneath, it can go up to almost $500. When he examined the toilet He found the toilet just needed to be tightened down and yet I still receive the bill for almost $500.

Charged 400.00 for replacing 3 ft of gas pipe and 1 hour of work. Attempted to charge 600.00 additional dollars for inspection permit and testing. 1000.00 for this work seemed way over the top. After questioning that this pricing seemed so high the technician stated he was doing me a courtesy. At this point this felt strange and I continued to question the line items on the invoice, technician stated “I’m outta here I’m kicking rocks. Fine I won’t charge you for that.” Technician cursed through out conversation and work. After leaving he left his gauge on gas meter and pipes disconnected and access to crawl space open. This has really eroded my trust in this company that we have used in the past. I wish there was some way to reconcile this. I will say I have been able to get another company out to do the same job for 150.00. That says a lot to me about the pricing and confirms my lack of trust.

I dont normally leave reviews and I might not have if it hadn't been for the tech that worked on fixing my leak. Sadly this was because of quest pipes and a leak foundunder the concrete slab which I figured was going to be expensive and look like a disaster zone. My technician Gage was very thorough and walked me through all that needed to be done as well as payment plans available. I work from home and i cant say enough about Gage. The noise was actually minimal despite having to use a jack hammer to get to the leak. He was very professional and left the job site clean with as minimal tearing up of the area that was necessary. So thank you Gage for your hard work, thorough walk through and keeping the repair area as small and clean as possible and just generally being a nice and patient guy, it was greatly appreciated!

So, I hired them to install and insure an entire brand new HVAC system, less than two years ago. Now, I needed an inspection done and they sent a tech that did not know anything. He spent over two hours here and he did find a problem. Problems happen. They should be able to fix them. He came back the next day and found another issue, because he could not identify the real issue. First, it was this. Then it was not. Then it was this. I requested a new tech today and they have the nerve to charge me another fee. This company is horrible. If I didn’t have the warranty through them I would not be using them. It is your job to provide techs that can diagnose issues the first time around instead of charging me 59 dollars and then another 89 for something that should have been fixed the first time around. I was told it was a really common issue and can be fixed same day by two other companies. Just a waste of my time and longer for selling. I would rate lower but I can’t.

I am incredibly impressed! My pleasant surprise began with reaching a human in the evening. They were able to schedule me the next morning, on a Saturday! Thomas was a literal angel. Cast iron plumbing that was leaking was replaced with PVC and both outdoor spigots needed replacement. I was a little shocked at the price, (as I wasn’t sure what to expect),but the tech worked with me for the most immediate needed repair and any available discounts. The plumber unstopped my kitchen sink, but the price was literally through the roof. He ran the snake to unclog the drain. It took less than an hour and the price was more than a PS5. Dont use these guys. When they installed our unit they put a hole in the wall and cut our trim wrong and never came to fix it. Now three years after install they tell us we need yearly tune ups to keep our warranty valid which they did not tell us before. Now that my ac is broken and not working they are being impossible about getting someone out here to do the work under warranty. And the call center they use has rude and incompetent employees. I hope michael and sons reads this and responds because when you call you only get the call center not an actual employee of the company

Please save yourself the trouble and call someone else. It took three days for them to diagnose the issue. It was a crushed duct that literally took the second technician three minutes to find and ten to correct. I cannot, ethically, raise the review any higher, because if I had called someone else I bet it would have been so much more effortless and probably a lot less expensive. I would really recommend, as someone who has paid this company SEVEN THOUSAND dollars, like no joke, seven thousand dollars, to find a company that is going to be knowledgeable and make any issues that arise during the life of your HVAC unit. They really do not have any knowledge about fixing HVAC units. My roommates and I hired them for a very simple problem, with the HVAC unit they installed less than two years ago, and they still could not solve it without charging us two fees for the techs and taking three days to find the issue. Ridiculous pricing and procedures. Paid $260 and nothing got fixed. Some of my outlets went out so I called them and they told me okay it's 70 dollars for an electrician to come out and tell you your problem; he looked at the outlets and within 5 minutes of getting here he said it would be 260 dollars to troubleshoot and fix the problem. Like did I not call you to come and troubleshoot the problem for $70 in the first place? After I paid the 260 maybe 20 minutes later he said it was more things than he thought and said it would be another 230 to fix it. Absolutely not so I had him leave and STILL paid 260. Nothing was fixed. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.UPDATE 1 MONTH LATER: After I contacted them at their request because of my bad review they proceeded to do absolutely nothing. My Mom came to visit and fixed it in 10 minutes. Do not use this company.

I live in a duplex, and while doing yard work, I saw the sewer cleanout was leaking water from the top. I called you, requested service & was politely scheduled for the next day (Saturday). Your rep, Dave was on time & went straight to work diagnosing the problem - sewer pipe obstruction. But it was my neighbor's pipe not mine! Dave worked up a price, notified my neighbor, Jeff, & he accepted. Dave reamed out the pipe as best he could but a 2nd blockage was further down than he could get to w/o an assessment w/ a camera. He made arrangements w/ the office to have a camera on site Monday morning. The name & payment info was changed on the paperwork & the call carried forward to Monday. Thats how, ultimately, I did not use your service, but witnessed a good job done by a good employee.

I called Michael and Son out to my home to service a ceiling fan that had fallen free from its mount. My Electrician Danny Davis showed up on time, called ahead to advise me that he was on the way and even asked where he should park. He showed up at my door wearing a mask and gloves and put shoe covers on before he entered my home. He looked at my ceiling fan and gave me a few options for repair or replacement.He found that the original installers of the ceiling fan had installed the incorrect receptacle and mounting bracket. Michael & Son Service was a joy to work with! Our water tank heater went out, so we thought. Having only cold water was not fun at all. Turns out it was an electrical component, the breaker... It was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced. James and Giorgio were our technicians. Two different issues called for two different jobs. Which was still a reasonable price compared to a company I called prior. They also send updates of how far out they were and photos of the person that's coming to your house! Truly grateful for that! The technician, JOSEPH RASTELLI, phoned me 15 minutes before he arrived at my house. He arrived promptly and put on his shoe covers before he stept inside. He is well mannered and told me everything I need to know about the installations and the charges. He put a covering like a tarp on the floor before he started. He informed me promptly when he was done and to my surprise, there was no dirt on my floor, he took away all the product packagings, and his work area was really clean. He is definitely an asset to your company. I will pay the amount he quoted me anytime as long as I will have somebody like him to do any work in my house. Tomorrow, an electrician from your company will also do some repairs in my house. I hope I get the same caliber repairman as professional as Mr. Rastelli.

We had an issue with our facets in the bathroom. The technician took less than 5 minutes to look under the sink, run water and talk with me. The conclusion was fix the faucets or replace them. The faucets were less than a 1 1/2 YEARS OLD. I THOUGHT MAYBE WE WOULD FIX THEM. THE QUOTE FOR FIXING THEM WAS OVER $550.00 AND to replace them was over $650.00 and we would have to provide the faucets. I stared at the Technician in shock. We said no. I don't understand why they are so expensive and how they know the issue just by shining the light on things. I would never use this company.

I just had a tech come out to snake my main line out of my house. Before he came out I asked the office the price and they couldn't give it to me. When he got out he told me the price was going to be $650 dollars. For 30 minutes of work. Why would anyone pay that much money for such a simple service? Also, why not be upfront when someone calls in with the pricing. Its frustrating when I could have gotten a better, more affordable company out here to fix my problem before the weekend, instead I was stuck with paying a service fee for someone to come out and tell me exactly what was wrong with my plumbing, which I told them over the phone, just to learn that you guys charge 3x the average price in the area.

First let me start by saying the ease of booking an appointment is the best. I booked my appointment online at 10:00 pm on Tuesday for an appointment on Friday for an inspection of my HVAC system.Thomas was amazing, he arrived on time explained what he was covered under the HVAC inspection. Once he was finished he explained what he found and then sent a full report with pictures to my email.I can say the level of customer service provided was beyond exceptional and the price for the inspection great because the company offers coupons. Just like a majority of these reviews, we were also screwed over by Michael and sons. Hired them to troubleshoot some outlets that weren't working and a partial power outage and they charged almost 700 to screw In one little connection. Called it a complete restoration when they didn't even change a part. Prices are ridiculous and than what you complain they wanna offer you a hundred dollar credit on the next service like anyone would actually use this company more than once.

Jeff was amazing! We had an emergency which in the beginning had him puzzled, but he kept investigating all options. We were very worried there was water running behind the shower wall even when the water was turned off the noise was loud and sounded like water or loose pipes. We called on Monday for a leak in our ceiling, got an appointment on Tuesday, and not only was Tabitha early, but she was efficient, found the problem almost immediately, and fixed it within an hour. Nowadays it hard to find a company that cares about your money as well as their own. Prior to calling Michael's, I called Perez Interprises to ask if they could come and repair my hot water heater. The young lady was short and rude. She told me that if my hot water heater was over two years ago, replacement is what they recommend. I got upset and let her know how crazy she sounded. At that point she told me that she didn't want to waste he time. I said ok, what their cost to replace the unit She told me $2100.00 and that if any thing other than a standard replacement, its going to be even more. She was supposed to email the quote to me that Saturday morning. I have seen the quote yet, today is Wednesday. I called Michael and Sons after speaking with Perez Interprises. The customer experience was as different as day and night. The young lady was professional and polite. She gave me a price on $69.00 to troubleshoot the issue with my hot water heater. The next morning I called back and set up the appointment. The technician Lukasz arrived (on time, and professionally dressed. He did a great job evaluating and troubleshooting. He determined and I agreed that the money spent to repair a six year old heater should go to purchasing a new hot water heater. It was a great experience dealing with Michael and Sons from setting up the appointment to the service rendered. Lukasz is the guy that I want to take care of any issues I have in the future. We had a heating issue with our HVAC and scheduled an appointment within 2 days to have it looked at. Matt was our tech and made a courtesy call to let us know he was on the way. Matt was able to assess the issue immediately (which turned out to be a lock on the gas due to our sellers turning off the gas the day we moved in and we didn't know). He waited for the lock to be removed just to make sure that the issue resolved, and it did. Matt was very professional and kind. He even assessed our control unit where he fixed a minor issue with our fan and AC. Noticed that one of my breakers making a buzzing sound, and had one room with no power to the outlets. Made an appointment with Michael and sons. I was planning to replace my breaker box soon because of its small size. Steven diagnosed loose connections on 2 breakers, and originally was going to replace but recommended a panel upgrade. Upon removing the breakers there was major degradation to the panel and it needed an immediate replacement. Steven was able to come out the very next day and replace our old panel with a new one with whole home surge protection. I really appreciate the fast turn around on such an in depth job, and can sleep easy knowing my breaker box isn't at risk of catching fire.

We had Breon come to the house to replace a fan. He showed up at the beginning of the time allotted to us and got right to work. He was incredibly professional and courteous. He even laid down plastic to make sure that no mess was made on any of the furniture. Once he was done, Breon cleaned everything up and even checked to make sure nothing got dirty. After that, he offered a complimentary inspection of our electrical system and gave us some recommendations as to how our house could be improved (old house with old electrical system). They sent status updates via text, even including a photo and bio of our technician, so we would know who to expect at our door.***PLEASE NOTE: The reason we cannot give Michael & Son Services a 5-star rating is the *HIGH COST*. The estimate provided by Giorgio was almost *TWICE* what we expected. As a result, we had to drop three items from our list of needed plumbing repairs. If we hadn’t been without a kitchen sink for several days already, we would not have accepted the estimate for its installation either.In the future, I will look for plumbing companies that can send an online estimate for fairly routine items (such as sink installation) before a technician is sent out — with the understanding, of course, that the estimate might change once the technician views the repairs needed in person.

Amazing experience all around. My husband and I attempted to replace one of our toilets and it did not go as planned.. Called and scheduled an emergency visit, was told someone would be out within 6 hours or so, but they arrived in less than an hour! With a troubleshoot he was able to find out the issue and have my 3 light switches going to 4 different places fixed. The technician arrived an hour early, but that was OK - it gave me more time of my day back to me. Jeff, the technician, was GREAT! This was the first time I’ve used Michael & Sons for a plumbing problem rather than just my usual biannual heating & AC check-ups. They have ALWAYS done a fantastic job for me, so when I needed plumbing help, there really wasn’t any question for me who I would call.Jeff had to come back for a second time (NOT his fault!) and he was SO patient about it! On this second trip he was able to make the final repair, but first he had to find the water shut-off valve. Jeff must have spent a good 45-minutes looking for the water cut-off valve, which is WELL-HIDDEN out by the street (not the city cut-off). This might not be that big a deal normally, but we were under a heat advisory warning — it was AWFUL out. I felt terrible I couldn’t be more specific about its location, but Jeff persisted until he found it.Once Jeff turned off the water, he made the shower repair quickly and efficiently. He explained WHY I have had the same problem several times in the last five years. He showed me the problem part so I could understand the problem (which helped me a lot because I am a very visual person). Now I understand the problem.When Jeff was finished and I had paid the bill, he even went back out in the heat and marked the cut-off valve with some red paint i had in the garage in case I needed it in case of an emergency. He didn’t HAVE to do that, but I’m very grateful to him for doing it. The last plumbing company that had been here gave me a vague idea of where it had finally been located, but they didn’t mark it for me. It really IS hidden after years of plant growth. Now, having the valve marked, there won’t be anymore problems locating it. THANKS JEFF FOR ALL YOU DID FOR ME!

Stay away from this companyElectricalWe had electrical work done last week to have outlets aligned in the kitchen awaiting new cabinets. We were told they needed to be rewired. The tech did a nice job cutting open the areas. The space was rewired and he left apparently not checking to make sure the electrical was working and all the lights. We discovered the kitchen lights not working and a few others along with a socket.So we called Michael and Son again stating everything had been working prior with no issues. Today Sat May 14, another tech came out and after pulling some sockets out, checking circuits etc he said it was all connected to the problem but he was unable to find the wire causing the problem. He said it would be best if the original tech came back out. He told me he was going outside and would call his boss to reschedule for Tues. I asked him if he was frustrated he said yes a little bit and didn't like coming in behind someone else. (I can understand that but thats not our problem) Isn't an electrician supposed to be able to diagnose and repair.Well I was waiting inside for about 15 mins thinking surely he wouldn't still be on the phone, and, he wasn't .....HE LEFT. Not only did he leave me hanging but left all the sockets dangling, left our ladder under the attic door failing to turn off attic light and closing the hatch. Upon leaving the property he drove through the front yard leaving about a 6 tire rut.We called Michael and Son and was told they have no supervisors working on the weekend. I told the young lady I needed to speak to one today, not next week, and the only one they had was a call center supervisor. I sent her all the photos explained what happened and she apologized numerous times. I told her I wanted to speak with a higher up but all she could do was email someone. About an hour and a half later the tech called me and asked what's going on. I told him you left all the sockets hanging, attic light on and open and you drove through the front yard. He asked what do I want him to do (really)??He said I left the sockets hanging to make it easier for the original tech. What kind of electrician does that?I said you also drove through my yard he replied Oh I'm sorry.I tried to call the corporate number but it kicks back to the local M&S with the voice prompts. I left an email saying I wanted to speak with an owner and I'm waiting till next week to see if that happens however I won't hold my breath.Unprofessional in every way shape and form. And lack of Supervisors is mind boggling. Michael and Sons is extremely over priced to begin with so we'll see how this gets resolved. The yard WILL get fixed but that the tech didn't even let us know he drove through it is sad as well.On a good note the tech came back and fixed the hanging sockets and he did apologize. It's not that the techs who did the work aren't polite because they are, they are very polite!But that doesn't correct the problem. The photos show how the job was left and the damage to our yard.

My downstairs AC unit stopped blowing cold and ran constantly. I called them and the receptionist was very friendly and courteous. She was able to set me up with an appointment the same day just a few hours after I called.The technician, Emerson, arrived well within the time frame scheduled, and even called a half hour before he arrived to let me know he was almost here. He was also very friendly and courteous and was cracking jokes with me and had me laughing in no time. Great guy! He was able to figure out what was wrong in less than two minutes, a bad dual duty capacitor. He replaced it, and checked a few more things to ensure that was the only issue and had my house cooling down quickly.I highly recommend Michael & Son and would like to give a shout out again to Emerson for his fast, friendly service and for getting my A/C back up and running quickly! If I ever need A/C service in the future, I will ask for him by name.

Install of new sink, faucet & garage disposal by the plumbing tech Gage. He is FANTASTIC, FRIENDLY, EXPERIENCED & KNOWLEDGEABLE. Due to me being mislead by the contractor for my kitchen cabinets the size of my kitchen sink 36”L x 10” D did actually matter. Gage however was able to get everything hooked up & working. Our system was completely down. Contacted Michael &Son for a checkup. Found out system was too expensive to repair and ordered replacement. David, the qualified technician and Leonard arrived around 9:45 am on June 3 and did not leave in around 12:30 am on June 4. The temperature was a steaming 92. David told me they would not leave until my system was installed. They had to replace and move the thermostat and some of the ducting. They were very professional and were Very knowledgeable. I have never been so impressed with David’s knowledge, his sincere dedication to the customer and his work ethics. He and Leonard never stopped to eat , never left the job site. His dedication and technical experience was astounding. I would greatly appreciate if you would pass to them how much they are appreciated. Restored my faith in the profession.

I could literally go on for days about how terrible this company is. If you use this company be prepared to have to do their jobs for them and to have to hire another company to fix what they messed up. But it does not end there, then they are going to email you saying you did not pay them, when you have the receipts showing you did. What they have done to me and family is almost criminal. I honestly feel like this company should not be allowed to operate until they train their techs and learn how to conduct business.

We have used Michael & Son services twice now and have been amazed at their prompt service, professionalism, attention to detail, and outstanding communication, starting with their call center and scheduling an appointment all the way through to the completion of the job. I called at 9am and had an appointment scheduled between 10am and 1pm the same day. The call center notified me at 11am that the technician would be running late due to the current job running long, but assured me that I was next and would be seen. About 10 min. later, the call center found a technician that was available and rerouted him to keep the 10am-1pm window. I was pleasantly surprised when I received a call from Seth at 11:15 telling me that he was on the way!Seth did a fantastic job replacing a faulty frost-proof outdoor faucet the first time we used Michael & Son, so I was confident that Seth would do an outstanding job for us this time as well. Seth was friendly, respectful, professional, but most importantly he was extremely competent. He fixed the problem within 20 minutes and for far less than what was quoted. Seth is honest and reliable, a trait that is very hard to come by today.Michael & Son provide pictures, documentation, and outstanding communication throughout the process . They take great care to leave your home as clean or cleaner than when they arrive. When you call for a plumber you just know that you are going to pay the world--it's expected. With Michael & Son, however, you are not only getting value for the price, but you have the peace of mind knowing that the job is being done right.

He put on the plastic over shoes prior to entering my home.Upon diagnosing the issue, he set up a neat job site to work on and over prior to commencing work. Had to pay $2,000 to fix/replace pipes THAT DID NOT need to be replaced to fix the issue I called in for (which was that my water heater was leaking). So not only did I have to pay $2,000.. I also had to pay to fix the 2ft by 4ft hole that he put into the wall. And now I have to pay for someone to fix the actual problem because my WATER HEATER IS STILL LEAKING.

I had an electrician come out to check to see why my furnace was not receiving power. The technician was completely unprofessional, They tried to upset me the entire time and told me my HVAC was shot (even though they were not HVAC techs). He was there for less 1 hour and tried charging me $650 for a loose wire connection (no materials were used at all). They do not tell you what they charge you until after the job was completed (without authorization). Once the connection was made, my HVAC ran fine. Their base charge is $266 even though when you call out a tech they say it’s only $69. Would not recommend this company because they are not upfront about costs or services.

This company needs to have the Better Business Bureau revoke any type of authority they have. Never in my life have I dealt with a group of such unprofessional and overpriced people. They did not get the work done we had paid 8k for. The inspector even told us that for what he had done, we were severely overcharged. They had to send a technician out two more times and still never finished the work. When we called, CHANEL, the receptionist, argued with me, talked down to me and had the absolute audacity to hang up on me, when all we requested was to speak to a manager. We have no power and have had no power for two weeks because of this company. DO NOT USE MICHAEL AND SONS. They're a nightmare and shouldn't be in business for all their downfalls. If I could give negative stars, I would. Save yourself a LOT of money and a lot of headaches and NEVER use this business.

We decided to shop around and found out from the original installer it was still under warranty and could be fixed. My father called them the day after Thanksgiving to snake a sewage line at his home, the average price in this area is $100-$500, Michael & sons charged him close to $1000. Then when my father saw a commercial that same aft with Michael and sons offering $100 discounts, he called & was told he had to request it. They then assured him they would send a $100 check to him . It's now Dec 15 & my father has still not received his $100 check. Unless you wish to pay double $ for your plumbing needs, do not use Michael and sons.

DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR $59 A/C CHECKUP/CLEANING PROMOTION!!! Our A/C may have been old, but it had definitely been cooling. But as soon as the tech arrived, he told me that our system wasn’t working. I said it was at 71degrees and almost too cold the night before, but he said it was only because the outside temperature was cold. He said it wasn’t cooling as well as it should be and suggested a maintenance for $89. We agreed, and after that, he said the refrigerant was low, suggested refilling it and/or getting a new system. I asked him if he would clean the system as was the original intent, and he said there was no point to cleaning a system that wasn’t working. Again, the house had been cool enough and cool air was blowing through the vents when he showed up. And every HVAC person I’ve talked to since has said that absolutely the system could’ve/should’ve been cleaned before evaluation! Anyway, we didn’t trust him, so we just paid the $89 and sent him away. Shortly after, there was NO air coming through the vents. I called the manager at Michael & Son, and he insisted everything the tech did and said was correct. So I called another company to come out the next day. Well, between the time the Michael & Son tech left and the time the new company showed up, the pipe had completely iced over, and now the system was non-operational. I hate to accuse someone of deliberately causing harm, but the circumstances are too coincidental. If not deliberate, I’d have to say the tech in the least somehow caused the system to malfunction. We will be forced to get a new system, but NOT from this company. I am posting this review so others can BEWARE. I thought a cleaning/checkup will prolong the life of our unit, not that I’d need to replace it the very next day!!!

Be careful with this company. They overcharge and suggest things that are more than just necessary to solve the problem. In my case, when the issue was with the main switch in the electrical panel, the tech told me that I have to replace the entire panel and quoted $4200. When i called another company they pinpointed the issue and fixed the issue just by replacing just the main switch in the panel which was broken instead of the entire panel. That saved me $4000. Make sure you get a 2nd opinion before hiring this company.

Very disappointed, this company stole my money. I had to rate at least 1 but would do 0. They came to clean the A/C system and ducts. Charged me $650 for 30 minutes work. I saw they tiny vacuum and asked if everything is clean or only the visible part of the ducts. They guaranteed that everything will be cleaned. At the end of the work they said that it wasn't that bad. After they left my husband wanted to add filters and noticed that it was dirty.... the work has not been done properly. For that price, we expect something better. + impossible to reach a manager to take care of this issue… Do not recommend, need this to be fixed

Amazing company! I highly recommend! We had a pipe burst last night and I called and they dispatched Mr. Andrew out to our home and he was able to repair the pipe in a quick, timely and professional manner. My pipe cracked all the way to the spout for my hose. Mr. Andrew tried to salvage my spout, but it was too cracked and needs replacing, I declined the spout replacement as it would have been an additional charge, and he was upfront about it which I highly appreciated. We decided that capping that section of pipe would be for the best as I don't need my hose here in the middle of winter. When I want to have my spout replaced I will definitely call these folks as they are just simply amazing. While the cost might seem to be a bit high, you're not only just paying for their time and parts, you're paying for professionalism and technical skill to make sure that when your problem is fixed, it is FIXED. On top of that, their 24/7 availability was a life saver as my busted pipe was a major leak and if I had to wait until morning my water bill would be way worse than what this is.If you're reading this. Please consider them as your go to for plumbing repair! I couldn't be more satisfied!

They came on a service call Technician Zade provide a great help to fix an issue and referred us to full service where we spoke with Technician Currie who reviewed everything and gave us options on doing a full replacement where it was scheduled for a day later awesome that we didn’t have to wait long. We had a minor electrical emergency, and Michael & Sons were the only ones who were able to come out on such short notice - unfortunately for us, the appointment didn't make it through the system, but the lady my wife spoke with was amazing, and she managed to get us an appointment the same day. The tech showed up early, was polite and knowledgeable, and knew what the issue was before we finished describing the problem. The problem actually wound up being a Dominion Power issue, but our overall experience was such a positive one, we'll be coming back to M&S in the future

Today I had a Plumbing Maintenance Inspection. My technician, Gage Simkins, called before arrival. He was very professional and explained everything as we proceeded throughout the house. There were no problems. We discussed 2 items that will need upgrading to bring to code before future sell of home. I mentioned that 1 bathroom never had exhaust fan, just a small window. Not what they used to be. I started using Michael and Sons 10+ years ago and had them install new HVAC equipment in my house. Lately there have been some issues with the equipment they installed. the technicians are nice and experienced, but they don't listen to the homeowner about what has been happening and going on with the equipment. They find something that could cause an issue and stop looking even though it has nothing to do with the real problem. It takes a week to come back to fix the issue and then start the trouble shooting all over again. So, I start my 3rd week with no A/C while they go on wild goose chases. My A/C is still under warranty, or I would dump this outfit and find someone that cares about their customer. I just feel they care anymore.

They do the kind of scummy things that you expect from large companies. They provided me three quotes with different levels of service, tried to default me to the most expensive. While this doesn't constitute a one-star review in my eyes, I believe I'm well within my right to rate this company as low as I can if you continue to read below.We had the plumber install a toilet and raise a p-trap up about 6 inches or so. To do this, the plumber quoted us about 1800 for the cheapest package(we live in Virginia and not in a big city, this is pretty high for our area). The plumber proceeded to place the toilet directly on our bamboo floor with nothing below it. He shimmied the toilet around, leaving several scratches on the floor. He then states that the flange on our toilet is not bolted down, and that bolting it down would be an additional 500 dollars(this took about 10 minutes). As he mounted the toilet to the flange, we can see where he twisted the toilet back and forth to secure it because it left scratches on the bamboo in front of the toilet(he did not put anything down to protect the bamboo, AGAIN). When he's done, he collects his money and tells us that someone from his company would be contacting us to fix the floor. To top it all off, the p-trap that he installed leaked and had to be fixed.No one contacts us. We wait about a week and we call ourselves. They say they'll get someone out right away to take a look at the damage. About two weeks later, a flooring contractor comes out and attempts to fix the scratches by covering them up. This does not work. They say they have to order the floor and replace it.We hear nothing from the flooring contractor for two weeks. We ask them what's going on and they said the supplier is taking a long time to get back with them. This is the same supplier that we ordered the bamboo from and we know they wouldn't put this contractor on the back burner. We ordered from them three times and got what we ordered within a week each time.We inquire again in another two weeks, and the flooring contractor hired by Michael and Son's tells us they're waiting for a quote and that the supplier is being uncooperative. We inquire again about a week later and ask what's the deal. They tell us that the floor is ordered. We wait another two weeks and ask what in the world is going on? They say the haven't ordered the floor yet and the supplier is not responding to their emails. They send us the email chain from the supplier and big surprise, the contractor only contacts them when we complain and doesn't call or answer questions asked by the supplier. Within three days of our last complaint, the say the floor is finally ordered.The contractor drops the box of flooring off at our house, doesn't unpack it to acclimate it. They want to come install the floor two days after they drop the flooring off and we tell them no, they need to let it acclimate so we don't have issues with it later.They finally come and replace the floor. They break a threshold to get to the floor so they can tear it up. The finished product resulted in a scratched piece of flooring getting replaced by another scratched piece of flooring, quarter-round with large chips and dings in them from nailing it down, and the threshold they decided to use to replace the one they broke is a different style and color than the one they broke. This threshold does not match the other thresholds and is not even the same color as the floor.We've contacted their customer relations department at least 4 times since the flooring contractor put the floor down and they no longer answer the phone or call us after leaving voice mails. The flooring contractor will not respond to our texts either. We call and ask to talk to a manager and the lady that answer the phone says that there is no one available. This is a terrible company and I urge the people reading this to avoid them at all costs.

I needed a ring wired floodlight installed on the front of my new house and I wasn’t sure who to call in order to get it done. After a second of looking I found this business and contacted them. They came that SAME day to inspect what i needed done then got scheduled for the installation in a few days. Zach was extremely nice and very courteous of keeping his work clean and not getting his shoes on the floor by putting on plastic guards whenever he walked in. He was quick and very helpful when it came to where I wanted to put the camera as I’ve never had one installed before. He put it in a very nice place where i had a view of everything! Plumber was very responsive, explained the plan of the repair to us, and got our water back on and pipe fixed. Prices were very reasonable. I liked that they give you info about your repair tech -with realistic photo- before arrival so you know who is entering the house and feel safer.

Edited - Company refunded deposit, which is greatly appreciated. If we had been able to use their services, they were very quick to respond to the request for a call.When I called to set up the appointment I was very, very clear that I was looking for an electrician that would be able to run power to a sign we had installed roadside. I confirmed with the dispatcher where the sign is located in relation to our building and she assured me this is a service they provide. Unfortunately, the company does not have the needed equipment and this is NOT a service they provide, but I was still required to pay the deposit. My AC unit stopped working several days ago. I assumed it was the thermostat because it was completely blank and did not reset. I sent a video showing that my sink was an under the counter mounted sink. The tech they sent said there was no holes to mount the sink and that another company would have to come and drill new holes. So I guess the sink was magically mounted before. I also asked that a new hole be installed for the new faucet that I wanted installed. The company should have said that they don't drill new holes and that another company would have to do it. We were robbed of $68 for a tech to come by and do NOTHING except tell us another company has to do most of the work. EXTREMELY disappointed. Don't use this company, you'll just get ripped off.

Our AC stopped working about a month ago. Michael & Son came out and told us that a coil had to be replaced. It was ordered and replaced a week later. The coil is part of a shut off for when the drip pan fills with water. A few days later I noticed the carpet on the second floor, the ceiling, and the walls were drenched in water. The ceiling on the first floor was wet too! We shut off the unit and emptied the rest of the water from the drip pan. Our repair man came out the next day to fix the problem. He’s been great. The problem I have is the contractor that came to fix all the water damage. They DID NOT replace padding, carpet, or dry wall. “The carpet padding did its job.” That’s not its job! It’s not a sponge for soaking up water!!! They painted over the stained ceiling and walls. They cut out a chunk of my kitchen ceiling to get a paint match. Now I have a patch on my ceiling that looks like my kids did the work. The paint doesn’t match. It looks awful. I have paint specs all over my counters. No one has come back to finish the job or check on the quality. I am very disappointed!!!

Such a rip off company!The salesperson had me sign for a lease on a new HVAC system but didn't explain it to me that way and I was unable to read the contract before signing on his ipad device. Luckily I was in the window to cancel it or I would have paid over $20k for a $9500 unit. The salesman was a total scam artist!I also started off by paying the $169 emergency maintenance fee when our AC stopped working and then the guy wasn't able to fix it or do much of anything to help but still got charged the fee!I would never recommend this company to anyone looking for a reputable company to come out to their home.

Darryl was not knowledgeable as an electrician. My job should have been simple, a bad breaker. Made comments about my boat-was it like a motorcycle! He made other comments about the 3 panel boxes that were irrelevant to the issue. When I realized that he did not know what he was talking about or how to change out a 100 amp breaker, I told him I would get someone else to fix the problem. He then presented me with a bill for $266, and I stated I was quoted a $69 diagnostic fee. I had to call the office to get this resolved and pay through the office since I did not trust him at that point this was my first time using Michael and sons, and I will never use them again for anything if they send out electricians that have no knowledge of electricity.

I will never use another HVAC repair company. These guys were incredible.The company that built my unit blew me off for over a month trying to schedule me in for a repair, in the middle of November/December and my house was 45 degrees.. I contacted Michael and Son and made a diagnostic appointment for the NEXT DAY. At the diagnostic appointment, the technician that came out was super thorough and actually ended up fixing my system during the diagnostic! $89 out the door for the service that took over a month to never even get scheduled with the other company I tried using. 100% excellent company and service. I was very happy with the service today. The lady who took my service call last night was very helpful. The technician who came out today was Moe and he was very nice and helpful. I have an older home with just one bathroom and they were able to get things scheduled quickly. Moe was very knowledgeable after checking all the drains he explained a couple of options to me, explained the pricing and what would be done with each and was able to answer all my questions and help schedule the repair option I chose for later this afternoon. His name was Dave and he was able to come out even earlier then scheduled. He was very professional and polite. He has a lot of knowledge about plumbing. The company has the technician call you ahead of time and they send a text message with a picture and a little write up about the technician so you know who's coming to your home. The electrician replaced numerous switches and outlets. The service was fast. I had the choice of standard, decor, or wifi and he worked with me to install my choices. All trash was cleaned before he even stopped to get the payment tablet. Everything looks great. Payment was not due until the end of the job and I said I was satisfied with the work. Scam! Last year April 2021 I called M&S to come out and look at my AC unit. The individual came out a fixed the unit and cleaned it…I payed over 800 dollars. Fast forward to this month. My AC starts doing the same thing as last year. I called M&S to come out but they didn’t have a tech available until the following week so I called a different company to come out. They informed me that M&S put a hard start capacitor when I already had a fully functional one installed. The tech stated that this would have killed my AC. Funny enough M&S tech last year told me that I would need a new unit by this time last year. I expressed this to the new tech and he explained to me that the capacitor would of killed my AC thus needing a new unit and he said my unit is perfectly fine outside of the fix he made. I called M&S to file a complaint the representative told me she would have the HVAC manager call me back and I still have not received a call. So beware of this company. Also I only paid $330 for my problem where as I payed M&S over 800 for them to kill my AC.

In early June during a string of 90+ degree days, my 9 year old AC failed. The inexperienced (less than two years) technician who came the first two days didn't know the basics about repair and was a little rude towards me. Due to excessive heat those days (90+) I had to pay for a hotel room the second night. Jay came within the appointment window on Friday. He seemed genuinely concerned that our air conditioner wasn’t working and quickly diagnosed the problem. Unfortunately, we needed a part that had to be ordered but Jay called the manufacturer, confirmed the part was in stock and authorized shipment. He promised to return early Monday to finish the job. After a water leak caused damage to my kitchen i called michael and sons. The plumber was absolutely great but the restoration service was awful. They damaged my countertop when they removed it, cut the base out of a cabinet i was supposed to be able to reuse rendering the entire thing useless, their fans continually blew my fuses and left me without power when it shorted a line to my house, showed up 4 hours late to an appointment and to top it off there was asbestos shingles behind the wall that no one mentioned and they blew the dust all over my kitchen and dining room for a week before the last day the rep told me about it. Every repair contractor when i told them i used michael and sons said i should have gone anywhere else. Save your time and money, do not let their restoration service in your home

Tried two other companies which didn’t even reply with the quote I was looking for to perform routine maintenance. I remembered Michael and Son from ads. Called, got quote right away and service tech came here the same afternoon. Work was done efficiently and the price was reasonably good. Based on this experience I will be calling Michael for any plumbing work I may need.UPDATE: deleted stars based on result of “free plumbing and HVAC inspection”. This free offer was obviously designed to generate revenue. “Urgent” repairs suggested were either not needed or quoted at much higher than competitors - 2 or 3 times as high. Verbal comment re HVAC said there were very dangerous and would require safety check before any techs would be allowed up in the attic. I was told that safety tech would call to schedule inspection. Written report filed stated that system was in perfect condition (system was less than two years old). Got no safety call, but did get a call because I was “interested in adding new ducts” but I wasn’t. If you use them you should be OK, but don’t accept the “free offers”

Paid money to have them come out and break a perfectly working ac.Update: had another company come out to fix the issue that the Micheal and son technician caused. My technician the other day was Dominique and he was wonderful! He was on time, called on his way, and was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. He conducted a very thorough inspection of my electrical panel, as well as numerous outlets, and when he discovered it was a Dominion Energy issue, he took the time to call them with me so he could explain what was going on. I also had mentioned we were about to sell our home and he informed me the outlet for the washer would not pass home inspection, which he fixed same day for me! When trying to hook up our washer, we didn't have the water valve as closed as we thought and water shot out everywhere! We eventually were able to get the hose shooting somewhere non-damaging, and when we called in a panic they scheduled us for an emergency appointment and expecting help in a couple hours. I've been very frustrated while working with Michael and Sons. On Feb 2nd, all of my drains clogged. I was quoted over $15,000 to replace all the piping underneath my house and form the house to the city sewer with PVC piping. They told me they could start on Wednesday Feb 6th and that the work would be done either Friday Feb 8 or Monday Feb 11. Sunday afternoon I was called and asked if they could process the second half of the payment since the work was complete, to which I agreed.Upon arriving at my house, my yard still had a large trench going across it. I asked the manager if they were planning on fixing it and I was told they had to get some dirt to fill it. I was also told they had an inspector coming out on Tuesday to verify the work was properly completed. They failed the inspection due to not installing a sleeve and foam insulation where the pipe penetrates the crawlspace. Feb 14, I went in the crawlspace and found a large portion of the cast iron pipes were left underneath my house. Feb 18 an employee came to fix the deficiencies caught by the inspector. I informed him there were still pipes underneath the house that I wanted removed. The same day another individual came and told me they must've just missed a few pipes and that he would get them all now.Feb 19 I went back under the house and saw the main drainage pipe was still left underneath my house as well as many fittings. While under the house I also noticed a combination tee had been installed in the wrong direction, and the sand where the pipe exits the house had not been leveled at all. I contacted the manager with the issues and he told me he would have someone come out to fix it. Feb 20 someone came out and fixed the problems.Feb 25 I went back under the house and found two joints were leaking. Additionally, several strips of my insulation had been knocked down and the sand had still not been fully leveled out. I decided to only tell the manager about the leaks and that I would fix the other issues myself.Mar 2nd, Steve came to take a look at the repairs (first time he's back since the first visit). He was angry at the condition my yard had been left in. He took a look under the crawlspace, and told me he would personally come back to fix them as well as a few other issues he noticed underneath the house. Mar 3 he came to the house to repair the leaks, and also leveled out the sand under the house (without being asked). He was the first person to test the drains and make sure they were installed properly. Steve did an excellent job and was very friendly and helpful during his visits.On March 6th, a large pile of dirt was left on my yard in the morning. I received a text from the manager in the evening telling me they had left dirt there and were planning on fixing the yard tomorrow. On Mar 7, they filled my yard in and replanted a bush that has been uprooted for a month. My yard is now covered with dirt and my flower beds were not put anywhere near their original state. There is also bits of PVC pipe and a random black pipe sticking up in the dirt. I asked the manager what the black pipe was and he said its a sprinkler line they hit, yet had not told me about until questioned about it.In summary, I was charged almost an entire month before the work was complete. They left rusty pipes underneath my house and it took multiple attempts to get them all out. They installed plumbing fittings improperly. They did not level out the sand underneath my house. They took 10x longer to finish the job than they said it would take. I'm starting a large portion of my yard/flowerbeds from scratch. I would strongly advise anyone who needs a major plumbing job accomplished to avoid Michael and Sons. Anyone who has had work done in their crawlspace by Michael and Sons in the past should inspect the work, because there is a good chance it was either installed incorrectly or incompletely.

There was a leak from one of my bathtubs that was leaking into my living room. I have had 3 different independent plumbers look for the source of the leak, but none were successful. I finally called Michael and Sons and they sent Jesse who was able to locate the source of the leak in less than 5 mins. It was an easy repair which he didn’t charge for. They are fast working and awesome at cleaning up their work when done. They will ease all your troubles and fix all your problems and they will take the time to save you every possible penny they can save for you. They often give discounts no one knew were available. They often will call another technician to find out if they have all the latest information regarding discounts. All of this they do just to be able to save us money and do what we need at the lowest possible price. I’ve never had anyone else take so much time searching for deals and/or discounts to help lower my costs. I truly cannot think of a single bad interaction I’ve had with anyone from Michael & Sons. I will not use anyone else in my home and I recommend them to everyone I know when they need the best service at the best price. I had an HVAC system completely replaced and had to call after 730 due to a water leak. The dispatch originally had me scheduled for next week which was fine. We can make due…but we ended up getting a call 5 min after hanging up that a technician Ash, would be on his way to look at the unit. Ash showed up in 15 min, with a smile and all equipment needed, and figured out what the issue was. His demeanor and great attitude was awesome. Especially, to come and work on an HVAC unit in the middle of the evening. He even set up a time for another team to come out in the am and finish the repair. Be careful when dealing with the receptionist. I requested a plumber to go out to one of my customers home where we accidentally punctured a hidden pipe fastening baseboard. She told me there was a dispatch fee then a “service fee”. 3 times I clarified with her about the definition of a “service fee”. She explained it meant the repair cost. 3 times I asked (no exaggeration) that I understood correctly. When the plumber arrived, he called and said he wanted another $169 for his fee because it was Sunday. Not what I was told. My request was on a Sunday. I explained the story above( when I could get him to stop talking) and told him that wasn’t the agreement and told him to cancel the work. Make sure you get the whole story.

Our house in Norfolk has some crawlspace water issues after a heavy rain storm and damaged some duct work. Being that our system was nearing 20 years old I decided to swap it out from all electric to a gas package unit. This included running a new gas line, ripping out all of the duct work and setting a new package unit.Josh & Leo were the technicians who performed the removal and the installation. First and foremost, these guys spent 3 days under our house fixing it all. They were extremely professional, respectful, and good at what they do. Having two kids at home doing virtual school, they were also extremely respectful and patient with a 5 and 6 year old watching over them and asking questions and being kids. Employees like Josh and Leo are reasons why people keep coming back to a company/brand. Kudos fellas.After getting three different prices, M&S was the middle of the road and had the best financing option. 0% for 36 months was really kind of the main reason. One of the other three companies was nearly 12K more expensive so definitely make sure you get more than one or two estimates.I would definitely recommend these two guys from Michael & Sons to do your install. I don't know if you can request by name, but that is who Id go with again if I had my choice.

Two sinks - both needed new faucets installed and new hot/cold water supply valves replaced. The technician did excellent work. However, they were incredibly expensive. I purchased the faucets and valves - roughly $200 - from Home Depot. The technician worked at the house for 3 1/2 hours to do the work. Cost was $1,500. Ridiculous to have to pay that much just for labor to have sink faucets replaced. Great work. Probably can’t afford to use them again.

Outstanding customer service. Once the tech was on her way, I received a text indicating who was coming, an explanation of her qualifications, and a personal note about her interest outside of work. I received a phone call from the tech because the address was wrong in the computer. After she verified the address she told me how long it would take to arrive.When she arrived, she evaluated the problem and then got straight to work with prepping the work area to protect the counter tops and floors. She diagnosed the problem in about 10-15 minutes and presented two possible courses of action. She began working on the less expensive option until it became evident that was no longer possible. A couple of months ago, my washing machine stopped getting water and we determined it was from the valve control unit Michael & Sons installed in 2014 so I contacted them to have it fixed/replaced. The technician sent out at first didn't even know what the unit was for and then told me they don't install those (which they did in 2014!). He did get water restored to my washing machine but not by replacing the unit - by cutting the pipes from the unit and connecting the washing machine to the pipes in the traditional way. He say is would be weeks to get another unit and when I asked him how many he said it would be months. When he did the repair, he was done in less than 15 minutes. I was left with the impression that he was going to do and say whatever he could to get the repair done as fast as possible.I miss the control valve as my washing machine is on the 2nd floor and worry about it leaking when I am not home. I waited to post this to make sure I was solid in my impression and it has not gone away. Normally I receive superb service from every department at Michael & Sons. This is not normal for them and I hope it was a fluke and not becoming the normal experience.

I am changing my review from 2 stars to 1 star. I was charged $250 for the electrician to come out and not fix my problem. My problem came back the following day. I had a friend come and help me the next day and they were able to fix the problem. The company contacted me asking why I rated them 2 stars. I told them the above information. They wouldn’t provide me a refund because i couldn’t prove with an invoice what the real problem was. Then they offered me $100 store credit if i changed my review to a good review. I will not be bribed. Don’t go with this company.

Called due to intermittent power loss at my house. Darrell was out within a few hours. Caught a potential fire hazard in our fuse panel. He explained everything so we understood and took detailed pictures. Two gentlemen came to the house to troubleshoot and repair 2 electrical outlets and restore power to our pot lights in kitchen and the garbage disposal.It took them less than 10 minutes to isolate the issues, another 20 to completely change out the bad receptacles, switches, and breaker, and get everything back up and working properly.I would definitely recommend this company, especially the gentlemen that came to our home.They were knowledgeable, explained everything to me, they were polite and very professional.Great experience with this company and their staff....

Had a water heater leak and ended up getting a new water heater installed. The installers found another leak inside the wall. Called many plumbing companies but they were all booked for over a week. Michael and Sons were able to come that day but we chose the following day. They even called and changed to an earlier arrival time. Tabitha Potter the plumber that was sent out was very friendly and knowledgeable. She was able to fix the leaking pipe in an awkward space behind the newly installed water heater. She did an awesome job. Will definitely use them again in the future.

What an absolute crooked company this is. The technician they sent blatantly lied about the issue and tried to sell me $3000 in repairs. After calling in an honest technician it cost $400 and was fixed in 10 minutes. I was informed they do this all the time at Michael and Sons.

Great professional service on a Sunday last minute. I’m grateful someone was available to service my gas stove. All I needed was the hose reconnected and I’d rather have a professional do it. The tech was fantastic! The only issues are cost and the length of the hose. I understand being a Sunday ups the cost but $600+ to connect a hose in 30 mins seems excessive. Also the hose that was connected was much shorter than the previous one which doesn’t allow me to pull out the stove as much to clean behind. Overall good but expensive and left things a little more difficult for me.

Had a leaking Hot water heater in my attic over the weekend that had to be fixed asap before further damage. Used a contact form through website with a few companies and Michael &Son was only one who responded that serviced Smithfield. They responded quickly. Gentleman on phone with whom I set appointment up with was very helpful. Explained everything and even suggested to make an appointment and I could cancel with no problems if needed just to hold my spot.Steve came to the house and he was great. Explained everything to me and detailed exactly what he needed to do. Answered all my questions with no problem. Even helped me out with something super minor while he was here. Excellent service up to this point and no regrets at all with using Michael and Sons. Price range was exactly what I was expecting and he even cleaned up the work area when done. Will definitely recommend this company and won't hesitate to call them again. Great warranty as well. Excellent service.

We used Michael and Sons for our plumbing/sewer problem last month. I initially had a different plumbing company try and repair my backed up sewer. That company cleared the clog for about 4 days only to find the same problem again. Instead of calling them back I called Michael and Son and was lucky enough to have Seth troubleshoot through my problem. He waived the fee to come out and assess and had a few suggestions for me to try prior to committing to their plumbing services. He taught me about city clean outs and how sometimes it’s the city side that’s the culprit. Never have I felt more secure with a professional’s advice. I felt that he was genuinely concerned in resolving the issue while still keeping my best interest at heart. Unfortunately the city was unable to help us for our problem so I did have to call Seth back. Al though Michael and Sons cost more than the initial plumber, they were significantly more thorough in their assessment of the problem and their solution has been effective, unlike the first company. I only wish I had called them first. Next time I have a plumbing/sewer issue they are first on my list because of Seth! Thank you to Seth for his expertise and kindness throughout the whole process!

Needs more training. Had to help technician to hold faucet so he could install . Then he forgot to hook up a water line and water was shooting every where and he asked me for a drinking glass to catch the water . He then realized all he needed to do was turn the valve off. He did clean up all the water he could. He said he was finished so I signed and paid for the job, I then checked, and he never installed the soap bottle. I should have checked before he left fit I’m a disabled veteran 100 % . I have another appointment Monday to fix our shower. So I’ll ask him to complete the faucet installation.

Moe came out and was very professional and polite. He addressed the issue and was very transparent with what was going on. While he wasn’t able to fix the issue (it was a specific plumbing issue that didn’t fall under the companies services), he offered some very helpful tips and advice. Any future plumbing tasks will be directed towards Michael and Son.Moe did ask that I let people know that he kicked my dog and cursed at my child. Sewer line clean out. I didn’t question the cost at the time as I needed it done but to charge $725 for a service that required no materials and to be done in an hour is a little overpriced to me. I found out other companies are charging $269 a hour and wished I had shopped this first. They easily found what was clogging my drain so I am having trouble understanding why they are charging me triple the price.
