Alex from ACME was punctual and professional. He was clear in his description of what was going on with our heater and showed that he had in depth knowledge of hearing and plumbing systems. He was reasonable with the fee. I would not hesitate to use ACME as we go forward with our renovations.

I have used ACME in the past for Backflow testing without issue. This year I’m in need of a repair and had difficulty scheduling. Email/online scheduling went weeks due to over a week between communications. Finally scheduled and had them out only to find out labor cost is “approximately” $500 and hour. That is well above other estimates I’ve found. Definitely go elsewhere.

They came quickly and got the job done!

Our very old disposal started leaking. I scheduled an appointment with Acme Plumbing and they were very responsive. Efrem arrived and diagnosed the issue and helped me decide on a replacement. He had the new disposal installed and functional in under two hours. He was very professional and did quality work. I will use Acme for all my plumbing needs.

My water heater failed on the Sunday night before Thanksgiving. Since it was an Apollo tank, I also no longer had heat in the house. I had a previous quote from Dominion Energy as I knew the tank was getting old and I got a quote Monday morning from a plumbing company I had used in the past. I didn’t like either quote as both said they would have to provide a tank with less heating capacity.

So I asked Acme Plumbing to take a look at it. After just a few minutes with Alejandro, I could tell that he was an expert in Apollo heating systems. He said he could get a larger better quality tank than what I had and they could install it on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Clay, Alex and Richard showed up with the tank. They worked all day on the project and the quality of their work was amazing. Clay did so much work even though he had a broken arm! The piping that Alex did above the tank is a work of art, so much nicer than any installation I’d watched on YouTube. Alejandro joined them near the end and insulated the pipes to the heating system which I did not expect. They never rushed even though they had probably hoped to leave early on the day before Thanksgiving.

They also noted that there was something wrong with my water pressure and discovered it was 90 PSI. They recommended that I replace the water pressure regulator which I did the following week. Alex did a beautiful job fitting the copper piping to the new regulator.

I strongly recommend that you use Acme Plumbing for any plumbing work you need.

A local Durham plumbing company with a fast response time and quality workmanship. We had them come out when we first moved into our house to fix a couple of problem faucets that we thought needed replacing. Acme came out and saw that they didn't need to be replaced at that time and just tightened a couple of things and everything worked fine. They did not try to sell us something that wasn't needed. When we did finally need something replaced, they came out and did a great job and cleaned up after themselves...always a nice thing.

I've had several things taken care of by ACME since we moved into our new home and have been very happy with my experiences from start to finish. The first set of work involved replacing old polybutylene pipes and fixing leaks. Unlike another very highly rated plumbing company in the area, the front-end customer service experience was very positive and responsive. Even better, the cost for the proposed services was much more reasonable than other estimates I received! I was also very happy that some smaller plumbing issues were readily taken care of when the techs were already on-site--again, at a good price. The technicians were also very professional, friendly, helpful and honest (At first glance there seemed to be an issue, it was priced for me, I agreed to the work, and then on closer inspection it turned out to be a non-issue related to an old well system. The tech could have still charged me at that point and I would have been non-the-wiser, but he didn't and reported why everything was actually fine.). The mixed reviews made me a bit hesitant to use the company, but I'm really glad and I wanted to share my positive experiences for anyone concerned.

Had a leak dripping from the ceiling downstairs. Called Acme for help. I was told they could send someone out in the afternoon, but thankfully help was able to arrive much earlier. Professional crew, explained issues and corrections as well as how to care for the new unit

We called on a Sunday because our drain was clogged and flooded downstairs.
Alex came out within hour of initial call and worked diligently from 9am to almost 6 pm. I was impressed with his courteousness and diligent work ethic. The blockage required multiple attempts to access drain and additional team members assistance . They worked throughout the day and needed additional parts to complete the the task. At one time, we had 3 Acme trucks in front of our house. The clog went down 1700 feet down in the back of our house. They did not stop working until clog was found and opened. It was a long day for all. Acme workers maintained a positive attitude and worked hard until job was completed. We are very grateful to Alex and his team.

Alejandro from Acme came to our house to assess a proposed water heater replacement and give us an estimate. He was EXCELLENT, quite clear and informative. My technician, Norval, fixed a problem I have suffered with for ten years and through three prior plumbers. He is my plumbing hero! Ten years ago, I had a recirculating hot water pump installed by a professional plumber, but it never seemed to deliver hot water as quickly to my kitchen sink as my similar pump had done in a previous home. So I called a different plumbing service to look at it, and he said that my timer was not set correctly. I convinced myself it was better, but it really wasn't. Third plumber looked at it and said the motor was out. That didn't make sense, so I didn't get it replaced as he recommended, and so I put up with it for another several years before a friend recommended Acme. Called Acme. They sent Norval. He explained that the original installation was not correct - that it needed a valve. He ordered the valve, came back to install it a few days later and I now smile every single time I turn on the hot water and it comes out hot!

ACME Plumbing responded to our overflow emergency very quickly, and fixed the problem right away. In this and other incidents, our interactions with their staff have always been honest, responsive and courteous.

We worked with Alejandro, who was kind, professional, and explained things well. He was able to find a functional and less cost-prohibitive repair for an involved shower plumbing issue, which we were quite grateful for.

Guy came out promptly and was really nice but they charged me almost $700 for replacing a kitchen faucet and installing a couple plugs where unused holes were. I looked up the faucet and it retails for like $80 so this just seems like an insane markup. I know businesses have to make some money but that seems like a lot. So I would say 5 stars for service and 1 for price.

Husband and I have been renovating a house we purchased last year. Next project is to turn a bedroom into a master bath/closet. After reading the reviews and reccommendations from the community, I contacted Acme Plumbing in July to assess the new plumbing install and provide estimate, timeframe, etc... Was told we don't do that but if you find someone to do the new plumbing you can call us to hook it up. Huh? Your website says no job too big or small... among many other great liners to imply you are full service. And, if I do find someone else to complete project, they are obviously going to make sure they are capable of hooking it up as we secured a permit for the job and need to pass inspections, so why on Earth would I place a second service call to you? Super misleading and very frustrating when a company markets themself in such a way, but can't deliver.

Thank you for your response. The room had already been demo'd and was a blank slate - subflooring and four sheetrock walls, no additional work (tile, electrical, etc...) would have stood in the way. We were just looking for new plumbing install before we started new flooring, tile shower, fixtures, etc...

On August 16, 2022 your 2 technicians replaced our old cast iron drain pipe in crawl space, as well as re-piped old type drainage out of our washer, to be more up to standard. The young men worked diligently, did their job fast, and cleaned everything afterwards. It was very obvious that they were very knowledgeable. They were also very polite and pleasant to talk to. They patiently explained the job to us, and clarified questions we had about the estimate. I suggest that for the sake of customers, the ACME company needs to modify their job tasks descriptions in estimate documents, to be less a professional jargon and more plain language. Regardless, we are satisfied customers! We recommend ACME Pluming to anyone. Contacts with customer service by phone was easy; I appreciated they took the time to talk to me at length. They also always let me know about the technicians coming 15 minutes prior their arrival.

They called 30 minutes before arrival. They were on time, they explained the problem I was having clearly so I could understand it. They fix the problem and explained everything to me.

Alejandro came to diagnose an issue with our hot water. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He answered all our questions and gave us an estimate for the problem to be solved. The call out fee is very reasonable for ACME. If you call ACME for service, we recommend Alejandro if he’s available.

Acme seems to really have their act together on all fronts -- from how the tech handled customer interaction to the IT aspects (email and texts, the GPS tracker-link that came with the message saying our tech was en route, the electronic receipt which included a breakdown of what was done and all the things I'd finger-signed on the tech's tablet...) to knowing what equipment was needed, understanding the chemistry of what was happening in the pipes, and being able to quote a precise figure before starting work. I was, in fact, impressed.

Do your homework before hiring a plumber, or else you'll get ripped off by the technician. A while ago, one of the techs was only supposed to find the septic tank. He decided to dig as well and charge almost $300. I guess he thought that he could milk money from an older couple and pocket the money under the company's nose. It's not the first time he did this to the couple but it will be the last. I was so close to making sure that he was out of a job but I will let karma take care of that.

Acme plumbing is top notch. After finding them through a friend that lives in the area, we brought them in to handle a time-critical water heater replacement job on a townhouse we keep as a rental in southern Durham. I was deeply impressed with the quality and professionalism of the plumbers they sent over. Their price was also very competitive compared to several other vendors we sought out for quotes, particularly with the 15% discount offered with their quite affordable annual service agreement (which is a good value in and of itself, and truly a no-brainer if you're having any significant work done). I'm happy we found Acme, as having contractors you can rely upon is important with a rental property, particularly one that's located a significant distance from home.

They do a great job

Used them when they had the Ben Franklin franchise. Had a sewer line backup at the house and my regular plumber was unavailable. Called Acme since I'd used them before but was told they couldn't get to me till the next day. Not exactly what you need to hear when you can't flush, take a shower or wash your dishes. Disappointed. Maybe it was a bad day for them (I know it was for me) but I won't be calling them again.

I do not usually write reviews, but this one I had to. I called Acme plumbing one night in desperation when my ceiling started to leak. They managed to send someone out as an emergency consultation. However, they had a totally wrong diagnosis and they did not thoroughly check where the leak was. Worse still, they said that the leak was from the toilet, and recommended that we remove the entire toilet and put in a new one. I consulted another plumber who dug a hole in the ceiling and found out exactly what the problem was. Acme charged me $149 for the emergency consultation, which is fine I accepted that, but thank god i did not allow them to remove my toilet! They wanted to charge another $250! And to get me to join their club which I had to pay a yearly subscription. Totally unethical. People in durham, please get your plumbing needs someone else.

We have used Acme Plumbing for plumbing issues (maintenance & repairs) throughout our 13 years in this home; they are reliably professional, prompt, & perform high quality work. Michael was prompt, friendly, & a good communicator re: the estimate & the problems in the exterior faucets that he skillfully repaired. I would definitely recommend them.

This company came to fix our toilet because it was shaking. When the repair guy came is said it was an easy fix and so called fixed it. However a few days later our toilet starting leaking water from the area on the picture shown and it did not leak before the repair man came out. We called Acme plumbing thinking they would fix their mistake however they only tried to charge us to fix our leak when it was there fault our toilet was leaking. They said we should have had our toilet reset but the 1st plumber never told us that he just said it was a easy fix. I strongly suggest you do not use this company. They are only in for the money and instead fixing a mistake to keep a happy customer they decide to charge for something else in which they cause with the first repair.

Efrem is a phenominal plumber and affable as well. He and his helper fixed three long-time, unbelievably annoying plumbing issues in virtually no time. Also took the effort to check out other potential issues and clearly explained what had been done. Wow!

Acme has done large and small jobs for me, always arriving on time and getting the work done and leaving everything in perfect working order. I wouldn’t call anyone else.

We needed a quick solution to a leaking shower faucet, without removal of tile to access the pipe. The plumber installed a shut-off valve in the crawl space so we can turn on the faucet easily when we need to use it. His solution was simple and effective, exactly what we wanted.

Efrem was extremely professional when he came to check my back flow preventer. Everyone at Acme is a pleasure to work with.

I am extremely disappointed with Acme Plumbing this time. After having used their services last year for jetting which we paid $500 for this service, I called them to request jetting again for my sewer and spoke with Norman who let me know that the price for jetting had now increased to $650 - which we were willing to pay. I explained this was an urgent situation and I needed someone to come as soon as possible given the fact we were having guests coming the next day. When the Acme technicians arrived the next day, I was told that the cost of the service would be $1,200 - almost double the amount I was told on the phone. The technicians who arrived made multiple assumptions, such as asking to speak to the owner of the house (they sat outside waiting because they thought I was the tenant initially - without asking) and also asked to speak to my husband / make sure to relay this information to my husband, making me feel like I was being talked down at and not taken seriously as a woman and the homeowner who bought my house myself. I called the office to speak with Norman to express my disappointment with the quote - if I had known the full cost, I would have made aneffort to get other quotes in advance, aware there is nothing I nor he can do at this point since I need the service completed now. However, I was most shocked after Norman called me back to let me know that the technicians were going to leave because this relationship was not working and I had previously hung up the phone, assuming I would want to cancel because it never works out with people like me. This was absolutely absurd since the technicians were already here, starting the job, and I had explained this was an emergency that needed to be done immediately. I never explicitly requested for their service to be cancelled and I was calling to express how I felt (rather than writing a review). The purpose of this is to share that if you call their office in the middle of a repair and express your disappointment, they will pull out their services without asking because they assume that's what you want. A lot of assumptions made. I felt utterly disrespected and frustrated with this experience and their office, and will not be using Acme Plumbing again.

I called, and in less than 24 hours my disposal is working and the new faucet is installed. They even were able to send a technician a little earlier than promised.

We are return customers because we had a positive experience previously. We own a 1960s home with cast iron pipe on a concrete slab and this company is very knowledgeable. They make sure the job is done correctly and don’t take any short cuts. The owner Norman has worked with us and was very understanding. We were very happy especially with the plumbing supervisor Michael. He told us he has 40 plus years of experience and boy does it show! Michael and Efran really got us out of a jam. We had a bad situation here with 2 toddlers at home and a bad leak of a kitchen pipe and it turns out we had a clog as well. With their expertise and hard work by the end of the day I had running water and access to my kitchen again. I would highly recommend this plumbing company!
