Sid's installed a new Rheem water heater at my home. Around a year later, the gas valve failed. Sid, the owner, stated that the original gas valve was defective and replaced it at a cost to me of $150. The replacement valve was exactly like the original valve. About a month later, the replacement gas valve failed. Then, Sid's said that both the new water heater and replacement gas valve were defective. So, Sid's replaced the the water heater at a cost to me of $175. I noticed that the replacement water heater had a different model gas valve. We contacted rheem to attempt to recover the additional $325 we paid to Sid's, and Rheem said since Sid's purchased the water heater, Sid's would have to submit a claim to Rheem to recover the additional installation costs for both the defective gas valve and water heater. We contacted Sid's numerous times, after talking to rheem, but its been 3.0 months now since our last attempt to contact Sid's. He has not responded to any phone calls or text messages.
Sid's gets a rating of 1 because it is unethical to charged the customer an additional $325 to replace a defective water heater that Sid's purchased, supplied and installed. Also it is very disrespectful and suspicious to me that sid will not communicate in any way.
A rating of 1 is well deserved.
