Mr. Rooter Plumbing of San Francisco

I work in property management and have called upon Mr. Rooter for help on a number of different problems. Of all the rooter and plumbing companies I've worked with over the years, Mr. Rooter has been the best. First and foremost, their communication has always been perfect - they always call me in advance if they're running late or some other issue came up. All of their technicians I've worked with have been experienced and professional. Most importantly, they show up when they say they will.

I discovered them after waiting for days to get another rooter company out to unclog a drain that was inexplicably back-flowing out a laundry standpipe and was flooding the ground level of one of our properties. Thankfully, by that point we had a temporary fix with a hose connected to a no-hub with a spigot to direct the water to a working drain outside so the flooding was under control but not fixed. The previous company I worked with told me they'd be there that afternoon for 3 days in a row and when they finally actually did show up, they charged me a lot of money and ultimately didn't fix the problem. I subsequently called Mr. Rooter and they were on site within a few hours. They performed a video inspection, jetted the drain out, and even helped to diagnose where the problem was and how we could implement a long term fix so I could direct my maintenance crew how to fix it later. I haven't had a problem with that drain since then and have called Mr. Rooter multiple times following that to help with other problems. 100%, would recommend.

Tohi and is partner were very professional and fixed issues that our prior plumber from a different company had not resolved. Although they are expensive, it is refreshing to finally have our lingering plumbing issues fixed.

I contacted Mr Rooter on Tuesday via a phone call. I was scheduled to have a service call the very next morning. The service man arrived on time and was very professional. He greeted me and asked me what was the nature of my call. I informed him that I had a drain blockage in my kitchen sink. We proceeded into the kitchen to verify the problem. He inquired if there was a problem with the drainage in any other locations in the house.
He inquired if there was leaking under the sink, then step by step worked his way until the problem was resolved. I am very pleased with the service I received and the cost. He even suggested things to do to help prevent future blockage. Job well done 👍🏾

They are cheap and did the job. Replaced angle stops and fixed my toilet seat of an old Kohler toilet design that are no longer in use.
I showed a video of how it was done and the person did it instantly.

Tohi Kaihau was the technician that serviced my plumbing issue. He was excellent. It was a bigger problem than we all thought but he solved it easily. I recommend this company but also recommend Tohi. The best at what he does.

I reached out to Mr. Rooter Plumbing to install a small water heater under the sink of my artist studio. I was able to schedule a consult with a plumber the same day. Mr. Jim Murray was very patient and courteous with me even when I changed up the model type of water heater from four gallon to tankless. He was able to install the heater in about a hour. I highly recommend Mr. Rooter for fast and professional service.

Ryan and Tawney (sp?) came on-time and were extremely helpful with explaining the plumbing issues, how they were going to resolve them, and also offered many useful tips and advice for preventing the issues from occurring. Thank you Mr. Rooter for being able to save our Christmas week!!!

Ridiculously expensive. I have used other local plumbers for half the price based on the same service. I felt sorry for the guy coming out and went ahead. Totally regret over paying for such a basic service and will never do it again.

Had a nice experience with Tohi from Mr. Rooter plumbing. Very professional and didn't try to sell me services I didn't need. I had a clogged sink for a few weeks tried several different ways of resolving it on my own (baking soda and vinegar, green gobbler). It finally stopped draining completely so I called Mr. Rooter. Somehow, the morning of my appointment, it was draining again. Tohi arrived and did a test to see if it was working properly, and let me know it was. Appreciate the honest assessment and professionalism!

Mr Rooter has done several jobs for me. In this case they cleared a drain. Technician Leki was professional and courteous and had the job done within an hour. Very satisfied.

We had a clogged toilet that all the plunging in the world wouldn’t fix it. We called Mr. Rooter and they came within 3 hours very timely and professional. We had Enrique C help us, and he was transparent with pricing and options and got our toilet working in no time. He even told us the root of what might causing all our clogs in the first place! So thankful for a quality business to call when we need.

Rooter Plumbing- Great service and prompt timing. I had a very minor problem with my toilet, but they were here within a half an hour and finished in fifteen minutes. Took care of the problem quickly, and even gave tips/information on avoid those issues for the future. Five stars for customer service alone!

They seemed so friendly on the phone. To bad they don't show up or follow through at all. Had an 8am appointment and was told I'd receive a call when they were in route. So when i hadn't heard anything at 8:30am, I called to check in and see what was going on. I was told the dispatcher would find out and call me right back. She never did, so I finally just cancelled the appointment at 9am. No plumber, no word, no call back, nothing. Why do companies feel they can treat customers so poorly? I just don't understand it. I understand being late, but not to let the customer know what's going on or return a call as promised? Just not acceptable. Economy Plumbing (of San Francisco) said they'd send someone out within the hour - not make an appointment that they won't keep. Fingers crossed, but so far they are better than Mr. Rooter.

So we have called mr rooter almost a month ago. They came and did a sewage drain clean, and said we have 30 days guarantee. By the end of 30 days the block happened again. I called them again then they said we have to pay for it again. I paid $360 for one cleaning, now they want me to pay again for cleaning which they already did a bad job at. This is ridiculous, dont call this company ever again.

Mr. Rooter was exceptional from Ashley who coordinated the appointment in the midst of super high demand, to Clemente who was kind, professional, thorough and efficient. Thank you guys, we really appreciate you!

I called Mr. Rooter on a Thursday morning because my water heater was leaking. I spent a few minutes on the phone with a dispatcher who promised me an estimate appointment the next day. I was disappointed but accepted because the dispatcher said they were very busy.

About half an hour later, I got a call from Stan (President of the company) who said he saw the call log, noticed I had spoken with them for about 8 minutes. He listened to the call and was surprised that no one would be able to assess the problem that day. He offered to meet me that afternoon at my home and do a preliminary assessment.

Stan met me at my hose, explained my options and after a few calls, gave me an estimate on the spot. I accepted and 24 hours later, I had new hot water heater.

I cannot tell you how pleased I was with the entire experience. Courteous, professional and they even cleaned up the original mess the old heater made.

I give them the highest rating because they represent the best of what customer service should be.

I don't recommend this company. I had a backed up sewer lateral and the technician who came was unable to get the job done. They still charged me $$$ just for showing up. I ended up with a different company who was able to get the job done without a problem.

Called for water heater replacement, showed up in about 30 minutes, give a resonable estimate. shop around for a while back still go back to then because their fast responce. Denver did great job! Love their hard work to detail! Recommand for sure!

Sewage came up the shower drain and flooded half of the basement, causing permanent damage to the floor and walls. Mr Rooter was superbly communicative and punctual in fixing the plumbing issue, got the supervisor to come out for an inspection when we realized it was a much bigger job that required access to the neighboring unit, made practical recommendations about restoration work and dealing with the HOA and insurance and neighbors, connected me to everyone necessary, and basically served as a general contractor until the seamless handoff to the restoration team. All this and they even adjusted their final bill DOWN from the original work order and after all was said and done Stanton even cleaned out an unrelated sink that drained slowly for me as a freebie. Mr Rooter may not be the cheapest for a simple job but I’m not thinking twice if I ever need more plumbing help. I could not imagine being in better hands for this nightmare of a situation. THANK YOU Mr Rooter and especially Stanton for your no-bull expertise and making sure the job got done RIGHT.

Not only were they efficient, doing in two hours what my other inept plumber couldn't do in 6 days, but they gave me great relief, recognizing that I had been gaslighted by my landlord. They were so supportive.

The pump on my only toilet in my apartment stopped working and I had nowhere to go because of Shelter in Place. Mr. Rooter sent a technician in a few hours and fixed it so fast! The technician was super nice too!

Called about clogged drain line that ran about thirty feet, half of it under the house foundation. Tohi immediately spotted a leak that could have caused major problems. Power wash cleaned out lots of grease build up, but camera showed more grease--Tohi insisted and second wash, which revealed cracks and holes in the line. His solution avoided very costly replacement of line and circumvents problem costing us quite a bit over the years. Whole crew very friendly, very professional--Tohi over the top. Highly recommend.

Knowledgeable, competent, friendly, responsive. Highly recommend! We’ve used Mr Rooter for years. They’ve handed some complex issues in our house. What I like is that they take a methodical approach to diagnosing plumbing problems so that the fix is commensurate with the problem. They always try to find the least invasive and least expensive approach, but can handle big jobs as well. They are also great about explaining what is causing the problem. All the staff are friendly and customer oriented. I had a few scheduling snafus and the team was quite flexible about this. Plumbing is a key system, so it’s a relief that I can rely on Mr Rooter.

I called because my Tenant had a stopped up kitchen sink and Jose came right out and fixed the stoppage. Definitely would recommend.

Bad service overall. Booked my appointment and then said they didnt schedule it. Once I rebooked they said they couldnt now couldnt scope a 2” line when before they said they could.

It was extremely easy to get in touch with the answering service--a real, live human being! -- at Mr. Rooter. The efficient administrator even answered the phone on a Sunday! Service was prompt, efficient and polite. The technician explained options we could consider in solving the problem, and made our job much easier by going out to purchase the kind of new faucet we had chosen. The job turned out to be more demanding than we had expected, so the technician had to make two visits. On both occasions, he accomplished the work in the estimated time, and at the stated price. We were altogether satisfied with this company and recommend it highly.

Alex from Mr. Rooter was punctual, efficient, and cleared our drain that was clogged in the kitchen. He explained what he was going to do, and quoted a fair price. We were happy with the results, and satisfied that the problem was completely resolved.

Charged 150 dollars for 10-20 minutes of plumbing work — tightening a connection and adding a washer to another connection. Seemed like a poor value to me.

I don't write too many reviews, but felt it absolutely necessary to point out how good of a job Leki Taumalolo did when my drain was clogged!! His professionalism, honesty, and skill (did it in under 30 minutes) were top notch. I called on a Saturday for emergency shower repair. The tech told me they could be out the next day, which was fine. Called me early AM the next day asking if it was ok for an earlier appointment. I said yes and within 30 minutes Leki shows up. He was polite, professional, took off his shoes, and explained that the grout was what was clogging the drain, so no amount of draino or vinegar mix would clear it. He briefly checked if there was a solution on his ipad then quoted me $275. 30 minutes later he showed me the drain....completely unclogged of rock hard grout! At this point I would have been happy paying for the agreed upon upfront price, but because he finished so quickly he gave me a discount....without me even asking. What other plumbers do you know of that would do that? Will 100% be calling them in the future for any plumbing concerns!

The service person arrived promptly and completed the repair. We had a discrepancy with the repair cost and complained to the Service Manager and the issue was resolved quickly and to our complete satisfaction.

On a Friday afternoon, Mr. Rooter's technician saved us from a weekend of water leaking behind our bathroom wall. He was professional, thorough, personable, patient, and a pleasure to work with. I would absolutely call them for our next plumbing issue (which, we hope will never happen, but know will).

I could not get the shower water hot enough from my tankless heater. The diverter valve was not installed properly and Mr. Rooter was able to diagnose and solve the problem within 2hrs. Highly recommended.

Mr. Rooter plumber showed up on time as scheduled. I had originally made an appointment with a plumber at Serviz and they cancelled on me at the last minute with no other same day appointments. Operator at Mr. Rooter even called to let me know that their plumber was on the way. Their plumber was knowledgeable and professional. Fixed our blocked kitchen sink with a snake which had to go down 40 feet to dislodge the blockage. Would recommend and use them again.

It was my first time using Mr. Rooter and the technician sent to do the work was on time, personable, professional and explained clearly what to expect regarding the scope of work and cost. We had a main drainpipe clog with backed up sewage in the basement of our apartment building. He took less than 30 minutes to get the job done, showed me proof of it flowing clear afterward and explained the warranty that comes with the job. Very good company that I would recommend and use again.

We had a very technical job that required using camera and positioning technology and then performing sewer line repair and concrete work. Mr Rooter handled the entire project, end-to-end with kind, thoughtful, professional communication and quality work at each step of the way.

A sudden and profuse leak of our 12 year old water heater was responded to in less than 30 minutes. The technician replaced it with a new one within 4 hours. All work and communication was very professional. If you want to be treated like a family member, these are the people to call.

Denver not only came out early, he was amazingly friendly and professional. Punctual - Professional - Polite - Perfect job and cleanup

Our ancient hot water tank suddenly started hissing and spraying steam and hot water in all directions, doing a Fukushima meltdown. I turned off the gas to the tank, the water to the house, then called Mr Rooter. Their president, Stan, came within an hour, rigged up a bypass so we could immediately have cold water running again, then installed a new hot water tank the next day. Ahh, hot water again. Excellent, efficient service. We'll definitely use Mr Rooter for all future plumbing crises.

I had a leak in my sink and called Mr Rooter. Paul came over and realized the problem was a simple leaky gasket on my air gap. He sealed it and fixed the problem. Said it was so easy he didn’t even want to charge me for it. Such honesty!!!!!

Anyways that was 5 years ago and now after some work was around my sink, it’s leaking again. You know who I’m calling, these guys are honest and great.

I had a problem with a backed up main drain to my building. I called Mr. Rooter Plumbing of San Francisco, and they responded very quickly. The on the phone and techs working on the job were very professional and did the job so now my floor is dry and no more problems. The owner was really a nice guy and knows what he is doing. I highly recommend these guys.

Denver was incredibly understanding and helpful. He even gave us tips on how to avoid clogs. Our landlord denied fixing the long term issue with the pipes so we were exhasperated and he helped calm us down.

I had a serious plumbing problem during the Covid19 lock-down where my house trap had collapsed and was not connected to the City's main sanitary sewer line. Mr. Rooter came out, practicing all social distancing and health and safety regulations. They received all the necessary permits and inspections required by the City and did a very dirty job in a timely manner. I actually think they could have charged more based upon the initial scope of the work but they held their price. I would recommend Mr. Rooter to anyone requiring a major plumbing problem to a minor clogged sink.
