Dishonest company with poor customer service. Look elsewhere . Company gave me the impression that they were well equipped to do the work. Performed a leak test, stopped work due to weather and provided an estimate it was more than three times what other contractors estimate. Estimated high so I wouldn’t take them and suggested they call a roofer because the job was out of their league. They should’ve been honest with me about their capabilities before they charged me $300 for a roof leak check

We had our mailbox replaced. Our technician was prompt and did quality work. We have used them before for our fence that fell during a storm and the work they do is quality work. We will continue to use them for all our home repair or install work.

Mr. Handyman went above and beyond to work with myself, my tenant, and another company to quickly tackle a water heater install which required modifications to a space. Every point of their operation was flawless and fluid. For my property they will be on speed dial, guaranteed!

I called Mr. Handyman to discuss replacing some hinges on my kitchen cabinets. We discussed an estimate of time to do the repairs and set an appointment. The service technitian was on time, did the work and kept the work area clean. I will use Mr. Handyman again when the need arises.

Service Tech Dwayne was on time. Assess what was needed to complete the job. He removed, replace and painted about 10 feet of molding under my kitchen countertop. Replace front door sweep. When he was done all was clean as it was before he came. Great job.

Called and asked a handyman to fix tile and trim work, they said to emIl them photos and they would get back to me.. i sent the photos and waited a week or so and never called me back. Finally I called them again to ask why they never responded.. and I was on hold for 30 minutes.

They arrived on time and were very friendly and professional. My vent on my roof flew off during a bad storm and they came to fix it in a timely fashion. I will definitely use them again and recommend to anyone.

Updating my review to say there's still no one else I would call for home repair and maintenance. I have used Mr. Handyman for years now to help take care of my mother's home. Even being at a great distance, I am confident in their ability to get the job done and do it right. Thank you!

A small, old water spot that needed drywall repair, but Justin squeezed into a tiny attic space to find the source of the leak and ended up sealing an area on the roof. Can’t imagine another random service provider doing all that to make the repair right. Mr. Handyman is trustworthy and reliable and skilled. We will be using them again and again for all our hone repair needs.

The vinyl siding on my house has been loose for a couple of years. After looking at the issue, the tech quickly developed and implemented a plan of action. He was quick and through with the repair. The vinyl siding is back to where it belongs and looks great.

I called to have some curtain rods hung up in my home, he did a great job. I had an 8 am appointment and he was right on time. I appreciate him coming prepared with his mask as well. Will be calling back soon.

I called to request repairs. The website clearly says you do window seal repairs. The woman answering the phone says you don’t. But you’ll charge me $152.00 to come out and tell me that. 👍

Unfortunately Mr Handyman was unable to rehang my storm door due to screws were damaged and the whole door was going to need to be replaced. Because I am soon going to get all around doors and windows replaced, I elected to just remove the door until then. I do so APPRECIATE the timeliness of their response to my inquiry. And above all the HONESTY AND INTEGRITY about what they could and could not do. Even though we did not do business with each other, I was impressed with this.

I was hesitant to use a handyman service, just because I didn't know the quality of work the techs could provide, but I can tell you right now it's better than the class A contractor that was hired to do the remodels on the house we just purchased. While my final price seemed pricey for hanging up blinds, I was extremely satisfied. This company charges by the hour, no matter what is needed. From the original quote and scheduling to the tech walking out of my house, everything was extremely professional. Our tech, Dwayne, went above and beyond with his service. He made sure to explain everything to me throughout the process, asked me how I would like him to proceed when we ran into issues (due to the window frames - not issues on his end), and also pointed out several items, unrelated to the work he was there to do, that need attention. As a first time homebuyer, that just purchased this house a week ago, I appreciated that he took the time to not only do the work I needed done today, but to also provide me with advice and guidance on a few upcoming projects. I will be using Mr. Handyman again, and quite often if this is how every experience will be.

Mr. Handyman was on time with short notice, professional, took care of an entrance door hardware problem we thought was impossible very quickly and with no disruption to our lives. Paul was a magician to do what he did! We will always go back to this company and as for Paul.

Probably one of the easiest transactions I have ever had with a repair contractor. I called and explained what I needed done. Staff arrived on time and aware of job specs. He was professional and knowledgeable. He performed the work, charged the agreed upon price, and cleaned up when he was done. What else could you ask for? We will be using them again for future repair needs.

We had light a fixture and a ceiling fan replaced and a tv mounted on the wall with wires run in the wall.

I was pleasantly surprised by how fast of a response I received to a request I submitted online. Communications and service were beyond my expectations, and the job was completed in a timely and efficient manner. I will definitely use again in the future!

The service tech was very nice however, the quality of his work did not meet my expectations. In fact, his skills were not as good as my own but I decided to pay to have the work done vs doing it myself. The tech seemed to be rushed for time to move on to another project.
The office manager, Karen, was very friendly as well but she forget to tag my file for the 10% military discount.
I would not recommend Mr. Handyman and I won't use their services in the future.

We had a broken casement/crank mechanism on one of our windows and window could not be closed. We live on the third floor of a condo complex. Me Handyman came out same day and diagnosed problem, took out the feet I’ve part, got the window shut and the new part ordered. Will definitely use them again

Used Mr. Handyman of Virginia Beach to repair a whole in the fiberboard behind some siding. First, they had to cancel multiple times because of weather, which is understandable, but the communication to re-schedule was lacking. When they first cancelled they stated they would call me the next day to confirm a new appointment, but never called. The technician they sent was Eric, which was great!!! (And the only reason they got 2 stars instead of 1). While I thought it was a simple whole in the siding, he found termite damage. Prior to looking for more damage he worked with us to ensure we were ok with the scope of the project getting expanded. However, the office send us a new quote, which did not explain in detail how much more we would be spending. They ended up sending another technician to speed up the work, but never explained to us that would cost more. Unfortunately, Eric was not able to finish the job in the day and they had to come back another day. Without communicating to us he called, then quickly showed up the next day when we were at work and could not access the area. No other follow up to properly schedule a return was done, but the next day they again called wanting to come out within the hour, again we were at work. Finally, I called and spoke to Tim (the owner) to pay our bill and re-schedule the appointment. He was rude and made it seem like it was our fault the job was not already completed. Then, when I said I’d like to wait to pay the bill until its complete, he stated that each day is a new charge and it says it on all of the paperwork, which is actually not true, because its not on the quote, but on the invoice, which are two different things. Ultimately, we decided to finish the job ourselves instead of getting charged more. Overall, the actual work was completed well and professionally. The communication and customer service from the office was terrible and severely lacking.

Also, he asked about my military service because they provide a discount to active and retired service members and he asked me. Without really thinking I said yes, but then when he started questioning me and figured out I was a veteran and not active or retired he got upset and was condescending about being a veteran and not retired.

Solved several problems quickly and without being scheduled

Pretty disappointed by the service provided by Mr. Handyman to clean our gutters. The second star is because the associate who came out was friendly, and did clean up everything on the ground before he left, which was great! Unfortunately, the service we paid to have done, was only partially completed, and for the price of $246, this is disappointing. It is a messy and tough job for sure, and probably worth that price, but only if it's done satisfactorily.

The reason we don't just clean the gutters ourselves is because our second story gutters are very difficult to reach without a very tall ladder that we would have no use for other than gutter cleaning. The first story of gutters are very easy to reach, and very easy to clean, and we often do this ourselves until the second story needs to be cleaned.

On May 8, Mr. Handyman came out and spent over two hours cleaning our gutters. On May 14th, we had our next hard rain. At that time it was clear that the easy gutters had been cleaned impeccably, but the main gutter that we are unable to reach, the one that necessitated calling Mr. Handyman in the first place, was barely touched, if touched at all, because water was just pouring over the top of the gutter and down the roof. This is also the gutter that runs next to our master bedroom, so when rainwater pours over the sides, it keeps us up all night hammering and clanging etc. This gutter also continues to dribble out water up to two days after the rain has ended, making it clear that the downspout is still filled with debris and the water is just sitting in it. There are no trees near this gutter, so there is very little chance that it was cleaned and then re-clogged in the 6 days between the cleaning and the rain.

Had a piece of trim coil replaced at the top of our roof. The service members were early, fast with the job, and the price was right in the middle of what they quoted. Would recommend to anyone for this type of project.

The technician, John, is very knowledgeable and efficient. He is able to tackle many jobs, from tile and dry wall repair to power-washing and caulking. I highly recommend Mr. Handyman of Virginia Beach to my friends and neighbors. They arrive on time and are very tidy while performing some messy repairs.

So, I needed to have some basic handyman service’s performed at my home, specifically hanging my hard bag (punching bag) in my garage. Simple work. Maybe an hour tops. Called Mr. Handyman of Virginia Beach. Was told that the BASE LABOR RATE for them to perform this work was $732.00. That’s right $732.00. Let that sink in. I told the (emphatically) NO. I’ll just do it myself. Strongly suggest you never use this company.

We were closing on our home and had some major stuff came up last minute in which Handyman was a life saver! Omg it’s the summer and they were slammed with work but somehow they fit us in. Our contractor Mr Edd was super sweet and did such great work that we wanted to take him with us to Northern Va.
Ryan was Mr Ed’s helper was very nice and a very hard worker. The Manager Tim was very understanding towards our frustrations and time deadlines and he executed! Karen at desk customer service was where all this started , super customer service! Thank you Karen! YES!! We highly recommend this company as they stand by their work and a little pricy but worth it. Thank you Mr Edd ! Ryan and Tim ! The Greatheart family will forever be grateful for all you did for us .

My home had some damage from Hurricane Mathew. I called Mr. Handyman the Monday after the storm and they were able to fit me in on Wednesday, even with all of the other projects that they had because of the storm. I wasn't able to be here when they came to do the work but my wife was. She said they were very courteous and got the work done quickly. I would certainly call again if I needed some work around the house that I couldn't do on my own.

Very prompt and professional.work quaility is very accurate . I have more work for these guys . Buying a house and I will be calling them for projects that I don't have time for.

I am extremely disappointed in their service. I am selling my home, and am approaching the deadline to listing. The pool switch was broken, and the handyman assured me he would fix it. He failed to do so during his first visit, so I made a second appointment. He waited until the end of the job to tell me the company doesn't do electrical work. I had to scramble to find an electrician at the last minute. He AND the appointment scheduler should have told me upfront they wouldn't be able to do the job, instead of misleading me during several conversations. It was very stressful and frustrating to be misled. I will never use this service again!

Had some trim damaged by wind and could not get any local handy men to do the repair. I did a search on line and found Handymen of Virginia. They responded immediately and inspected, made an estimate, ordered materials and made repairs within two days. Price was reasonable and they gave me a military discount. Their staff and repair men were neat, polite, and professional. Highly recommend them.

Our second time using their services with our small projects at home. We were satisfied with their work, professionalism. Their estimates are reasonable.

Called to replace an interior bedroom door. First technician came out and did an incredibly poor job. Typically my wife and I would be able and willing to do the task, but with a newborn baby, we figured we would hire it out and save the stress and energy. We should have done it ourselves. We told them exactly what we wanted, a flush white door to match the other rooms in the hallway. First off, the tech came to the house and measured the door and went to Home Depot to pick up the door. He said he would do most of the work outside because of the baby and install it. I trusted he got the door we agreed to and didn't pay him much attention until the job was complete. He installed the wrong door, a 6 panel door, not a flush door and the work was incredibly sloppy. His excuse was it was the only one in stock. I called the main office, where they were actually very helpful in fixing the issue and sent out a second technician to fix it. I went to Home Depot myself to verify the door we needed was in stock and called them back to give them the exact SKU we needed and that there were 5 in stock. The only problem here was he had to go to Home Depot 3 times because he kept getting the wrong door. What was supposed to be a 2-3 hour job lasted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. the whole purpose of hiring a handman is to save time and stress. We saved none of those. We had other errands to run that day that we could not get done. And to compensate us for the inconvenience, we received a whole $20 discount on labor. The only reason they get 2 stars instead on 1 is because they actually came back out to make it right, but is was a 9+ hour day of staying home and wasting our time. Not a happy customer and cannot recommend

$500-700 to install two televisions on wall mounts provided with the televisions?! The woman I spoke with was not friendly or helpful in the least. I was so excited to use this company and willing to pay more but my last estimate was $50 per television. That’s a stretch to say the least. I actually felt like she was trying to lose my business before she even gained it by hitting me with $$$ before anything else. When I told her of my last estimate her response was “well, ok”. Maybe there is a reason it is more. I will never know. I have an entire list of work to hire out as a single newcomer to the area and hoped to find one source for everything. Mr Handyman of VB is not it for me.
